Falling for You centres around the lasting effects of depression, denial and escapism.

Grace is a successful Art Director for a reputable company. She went through a severe bout of depression after a break up. Therapy and medication helped, but her younger sister and best friend was her real strength. A tragic accident changed that. Now, she buries herself into her work and it takes great effort to cope with the rest of her life. She continues with her therapy and depends on her medication to be able to function. She has a good friend and her parents are supportive, but she keeps them at arm length.

Luke owns a construction business and he too has been through his fair share of loss and pain.

Grace goes to a luxury lakeside holiday resort with her parents for Thanksgiving. A change of scenery is just what they need. She meets Luke who is attracted to her and they embark on what she sees as a fling. She feels something for him too, but trust doesn't come easily. Will she give him the benefit of the doubt and trust that not all men are cheaters?

This is a dark story where depression takes over from living life to the full. It's sad to see grace wallowing in so much misery. Her therapist does her best to help her pull out of this dark hole, but she can only do so much. Grace has to want to help herself too. She is afraid of the stigma attached to depression, should anyone find out that she is on treatment. She has a negative approach to everything. There might be a touch of paranoia as she believes that one of her colleagues is after her downfall. She failed to warn her about a contractor! Luke's way of coping with his losses is more positive. He is kind and patient and wants to help, but she keeps pushing him away.

It's sensual and well portrayed, but the negativity is depressing. The ending is positive, but a little abrupt. A fairly good read.

I was kindly issued with an eARC from the publisher via NetGalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

5 Stars!

Sometimes a book has the power to overtake your world and as a result, make you realize how precious life truly is. Falling For You by Charlotte Blake had that affect on me. The prologue is its own shocking and tragic roller coaster, which drew me right into this heartfelt and powerful read. I recommend keeping a box of tissues handy, because sobbing throughout this amazing read is inescapable.

Grace Clark is a top ad executive in Boston. Due to two major tragedies in her life, she finds it very difficult to cope at times. Thanksgiving is especially brutal, because she lost her younger sister during this same time two years ago. Spending the holiday at a luxurious resort in New Hampshire, is just what she and her parents need to make some new memories. Grace happens to notice Luke Arnold staring at her from across the room at Redview Lodge. They end up sharing secrets, hiking, and spending most of their nights wrapped up in each other. Luke is a romantic and it has been a long time since Grace was wooed.

Although Luke finds owning and managing his construction company fulfilling, he cannot get Grace out of his mind. So he tries everything in his power to get her to realize how in love he is with her. It takes a miracle, but Grace finally realizes what a good and trusting man Luke is, which results in their happily ever after.

Wow, what an amazing and heartbreaking read. I finished this book a few hours ago, yet it took me a while to pull myself together in order to write a review. Only a few books have ever caused me to be contemplative and overwhelmingly raw, which this one does stunningly. This is a well-written book that should not be missed.

Falling For You, Charlotte Blake

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: General Fiction (adult), Romance

I loved the synopsis, I really thought I'd enjoy this read but...while I didn't dislike it, it just didn't really appeal.

Its hard to say why this wasn't a great read for me. Its a well written novel, the characters are like-able and the story was very genuine and sad, but it was just one where I found myself skipping ahead- even those steamy, sensual bits - to get to a part with some "meat" in, something for me to really get engrossed in. And sadly I just didn't find it :-(

Its a perfect light romance with some serious heat, and the backstory is very sad, but somehow there was never that magic Must-Keep-Reading moment for me, nothing that made it a book I couldn't put aside for something that held my interest more. It doesn't/won't put me off trying more from Charlotte, its a well written story - just that this story didn't work for me.
It could be perfect for you, will be perfect for many readers. Horses for courses and all that....

Stars: 2.5/3. Its a well written story but one where the content just didn't fit me and my taste.

Heartwarming love story

Charlotte Blake sucked me into the story from the very first page. There were moments that were absolutely heartbreaking. Yet seeing Grace with Luke was seeing two people who needed each other, needed to get over their past hurts. While the road to getting there was bumpy their HEA was well worth the journey.

I received an advance reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.
