This was such an amazing book! Paced exactly right, sensual but not all sex, a nice mystery...Clayton was super swoon worth as the former SEAL turned cowboy Hero and Abby was strong and tough, yet lonely and sad at the same time. Her brothers were great side characters. All in all the book was a 5 star read from the first word to the last.

This was a lovely story about a young woman who, along with her two younger brothers is abandoned by their mother. She makes a life for her brothers, takes care of them, sees that they go to school and have as much as she can provide until one of her brothers gets into trouble and she has to bail him out of jail. The Sheriff who takes an interest in her (sexual) and her brothers (helpful/paternal) changes all of their lives forever. The story is really nice. My own problem with it is that it's too pat and completely unrealistic. But it has a happy ending and is definitely a page-turner so its worth a read.

The Christmas Cowboy Hero was a good read. From this starting point in a new series I'm looking forward to seeing what's next from Donna Grant in the Heart of Texas books.

With the leading couple coming from different family experiences, this book had a real element of belonging and being and feeling wanted to it along with some action, suspense and intrigue. Clayton has returned home when all he wanted to do, for a few reasons, was stay away and live his life, he's not looking for a relationship or anyone to love and he's not sure he's gonna be staying at his folks ranch for long.
Abby has been sister and mom to her two younger brothers since their mother bailed and left them to raise themselves. She's brave, working hard to provide for her siblings while studying and trying to keep her brothers in school, keep them out of trouble and focusing on a better future for them all. She doesn't have time or thought about starting seeing anyone as her sole focus is her little family and their happiness and security.

The initial meeting between the pair wasn't the best as Abby's younger brother has been arrested for stealing cattle from Clayton's family ranch. Things begin to change for them both when their pre-conceived ideas and notions about the other are knocked for six once they spend time together and start to get to know each other.

I loved Clayton's folks and their reaction to and reception of Abby and her brothers. Watching the pair fall and begin to care for each other made for good reading and I was rooting for them to find their HEA.

A good read. 4*

After leaving the Navy SEALs, Clayton just couldn’t come home and face his family with all of the horrors he saw during his time of service. But when his mom got in touch with him and said his father was sick and the ranch was failing Clayton was on the first plane out of there. Coming back to his family‘s ranch it took some time for Clayton to get settled in, but once he got back on a horse it was like he had never left. It comes to the attention that Clayton‘s family ranch was the victim of their accountant embezzling money and to top it all off they have 100 cattle missing that are about to give birth. At least the sheriff caught one of the cattle rustlers, a teenager by the name of Brice.

Abby Harper was just trying to make ends meet. She was abandoned by her mother at eighteen and given guardianship of her younger brothers Brice and Caleb. She has been going to night school to get her accounting to agree and working long hours at an accounting firm. Her brother is given a second chance by Clayton, he has to work on the ranch every day after school and work from sunup to sundown on the weekends to “payback” Clayton and his family. He loves working on the East ranch and Abby and Caleb join him. Clayton has a proposition for Abby that she just can’t refuse- be his family’s accountant. With Christmas fast approaching and Abby at her wits end accepts the position. But will she get more than she bargained for?

I just can’t get enough of Ms. Grant’s writing. I can’t wait to see where she takes the series.

THE CHRISTMAS COWBOY HERO by Donna Grant is exactly what I needed to read after a long day and I completely fell in love with Clayton and Abby as their story unfolded in front of my eyes.

Ex-Seal Clayton East knows death and destruction first-hand but when he leaves the Navy he does not return to his home as the ranch where he grew up, holds too many memories that cut too deeply since that tragic accident all those years ago. But when he receives a phone call telling him his father is ill and they are about to lose everything, Clayton knows that he must return home and sort things out for the people who care about him the most, no matter how difficult it may be.

Abby Harper is strong and determined. She had to be ever since the day her mother walked out and left her to raise her two younger brothers, Brice and Caleb. Working all the hours she can while trying to study for her degree still doesn't make ends meet though and there are times where Abby doesn't know how they will survive. But they have each other and that is all that matters. They may not be able to trust anyone else but Abby knows that she will never abandon them.
But when she discovers that her brother was involved in a serious crime involving the East ranch, Abby is terrified at what will happen. Meeting Clayton East will change all of the Harper's lives forever, and the closer Abby gets to Clayton the more she craves this kind-hearted man with sorrow in his eyes. But can two broken-hearted souls find a way to heal their pain together? And who is really behind the trouble at the ranch and would use Abby's younger brother in the process?

Gripping, sexy, with a dash of danger thrown in for good measure, and THE CHRISTMAS COWBOY HERO by Donna Grant is the perfect cocktail for a wonderful novel. The characters are so engaging and relatable, and I really wanted Abby to find the strength to trust again as she had been through so much taking care of everyone but herself. Clayton is a dynamic and refreshing character who does whatever it takes to protect the people he cares for and I really felt for him when he opened up about what happened all those years ago. There is plenty of stunning scenery described in this novel, and the pace never lets this story down.
THE CHRISTMAS COWBOY HERO by Donna Grant is a thrilling, passionate, and heartwarming story of family, love, and strength and I could not put this book down.

THE CHRISTMAS COWBOY HERO is an outstanding read. It might have a Christmas theme but it can be read year round for the sweet romance and the interesting family life that is the Harper's and the East's. Author Donna Grant has a way of world-building that has you sitting right in the middle of the action. The dialogue, as well as the wisdom offered by the parents, will give you a good look at life be it with laughter, tears or maybe both. In no time at all, we have a good feel for these people, this town and this couple and are quickly turning pages to see what happens next. Between Clayton giving the boy the second chance, asking Abby for help with finding out where the money that was siphoned from their accounts could possibly be, her boss wanting the East Ranch account, the rustlers who want to keep her brother quiet ... there is a lot happening all done in a way that doesn't let readers down.

I will have to say that as smart as Clayton seemed to be about people, he didn't seem to realize that he had Abby hanging toward the end of the action, while he made plans. Sometimes men are a little dense, but his mother set him straight and the happy ending was saved.

If you love Christmas, sweet romance, family life, ranch life and just a really feel good read, then THE CHRISTMAS COWBOY HERO will fill the bill very nicely.

Forget the knight in shining armour - Clayton East is a knight in Wrangler jeans! He's the reluctant cowboy back home on the ranch, and hooeee did he make me want to be a cowgirl!

I love the way Ms Grant has created a Cinderella-ish feel with the way Clayton and his family envelop Abby and her brothers into the fold.

It hits you in all the feels, you can't help but fall in love with everyone (well nearly everyone, gotta have someone to hate!)

Ms Grant has wrtten with such beautiful imagery, I could feel myself looking out over the ranch, staring up at the big skies, feel the dirt and grit on my face).

Beautifully written, the story flowed and the mystery throughout the story had me turning the pages to find out more.

The Christmas Cowboy Hero is a wonderful start to the Heart Of Texas series, and I can't wait to see what comes next.

Sportochick's Musings ~ For me the strongest point made by this book is that mistakes shape one's character making them someone to admire.

I love stories involving the holidays especially when they involve two lost people finding one another. This is a heartfelt story about a sister who loves her brothers and raises them against all odds. This story spoke to me in an intense manner as I helped raise my siblings so I connected very strongly with Abby's trials and tribulations in growing up too fast and giving up dreams. I also got how much she loved them and wouldn't change anything.

This is well written and contains a lot of life lessons for every character in the story as well as the reader. What impressed me about this book was how the author presented consequences from actions taken with original good intent and how it snowballs as time goes on causing great harm. Also how others grow from these mistakes made by others showing the reader that sometimes mistakes can bring about great change, forgiveness and a life you will love. For me the strongest point made by this book is that mistakes shape one's character making them someone to admire.

I give this book 4.5 STARS for the impact it makes on both the families involved.

THE CHRISTMAS COWBOY HERO is the first instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult HEART OF TEXAS romance series. This is Navy SEAL Clayton East, and accounting clerk Abby Harper’s story line.

Told from several third person perspectives including Abby and Clayton THE CHRISTMAS COWBOY HERO follows Clayton as he returns home, a few weeks before the Christmas holidays, to take over the family’s struggling ranch in the face of his father’s recent stroke, cattle rustlers, and a significant amount of missing money from the family’s business coffers. With the arrest of a local juvenile, Clayton East will come face to face with his future in Abby Harper-the woman with whom he will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Abby and Clayton, and the potential fall out as the investigation into the missing money and the theft of the cattle places Abby and her family in the line of fire. Clayton’s Navy SEAL training will be called into action as the take down of the people responsible requires more than one or two good men.

Abby Harper is the legal guardian to her two younger brothers, Caleb and Brice, and struggles to make ends meet including feeding two hungry and growing teens but her sixteen year old brother Brice is caught in a war not of his making that will target everyone he knows and loves. Clayton East’s memories of home are saddened by the long ago death of his older brother, and our hero never intended to return to Texas or take over the ranch. Meeting Abby Harper helps to lighten Clayton’s soul but uncovering the people responsible for the near destruction of the family ranch is secondary to keeping Abby and her younger brothers safe. Clayton offers Abby and Brice a second chance thus allowing our hero to get up close and personal with our story line heroine.

The relationship between Abby and Clayton is one of immediate attraction but Clayton battles his need to protect and care for the woman he will come to know as she struggles with two adolescent boys, and everything it entails. Physical and personal threats against Abby and her brothers push Clayton forward in his plans for a happily ever after, inviting the Harper’s to live at the family’s ranch. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and seductive.

We are introduced to Abby’s younger brothers Caleb and Brice, as well as Clayton’s parents Ben and Justine East, ranch manager Shane, and local sheriff Danny Oldman. The requisite evil has many faces including some familiar faces to our story line couple.

THE CHRISTMAS COWBOY HERO is a story of family, friendship, romance and love; betrayal and jealousy. The premise is intriguing and entertaining; the characters are colorful, charismatic and real; the romance is provocative and energetic. THE CHRISTMAS COWBOY HERO is a romantic tale of two people fated to fall in love; of two families connected by circumstance; of one couple’s happily ever after.

Abby Harper has been raising her younger brothers since their mother walked out on them, and she's had a tough time trying to make ends meet and keep her brothers on the straight narrow. Clayton East is an ex-SEAL with his own ghosts. He's been called home to look after the family ranch after his dad suffers a stroke and he's not looking to stay there any longer than absolutely necessary. Until he meets Abby... When Brice, Abby's brother, is arrested for rustling cattle from Clayton's ranch, the two families are thrown together and sparks fly as Abby and Clayton learn to help each other out.

This was a lovely feel-good festive romance. Steamy and sweet, the story flowed really well and I was rooting for the characters from the start - Abby could easily have been portrayed as a damsel in distress, but I loved her fortitude and independence. Both characters have trust and commitment issues which aren't overdone or overstated, and they're open about their feelings for each from the start.

One absolutely tiny and completely subjective point niggled me through the book, which was the repeated use of "orbs" for "eyes". Honestly, the imagery it conjured for me made me giggle each time I encountered it. But that's just me!

Another great book from Donna Grant!

A cowboy/military romance that has instant attraction, steady progression romance, some suspense, and hot love scenes.
The hero reluctantly returns home when his family ranch is in financial trouble and someone is stealing the cattle. He has deep wounds due to his brother’s death when they were kids and then emotional, physical, and mental scars from the war.
The heroine gained guardianship of her two younger brothers 8 years ago when she was just 18. Their mother abandoned them and she became sister, mother, and father to them. They live with hardships but are fiercely protective of each other and have a tight bond. They all struggle with abandonment issues.
I enjoyed the slow romance of the two as they both heal each other. The chemistry is instant and they are what each other needs. One of the brothers has to work off a debt at the East Ranch and the three siblings are taken under the wings of the East Family and the ranchers. They each really grow and come into their own.
I really enjoyed the mystery/suspense woven into the romance story. The characters and plot are well written. Good love story that left me happy.

Where would you stop for the ones that you love? Abby & Clayton would do anything to save their families even if it means that they are against each other. Abby just can't get a break her one brother has been caught stealing cattle and it just had to be at the East ranch. How can she fix this? Clayton needs to find that cattle before it is too late for his parents and he will use Abby's brother Brice to work off the debt and hopefully find out where the cattle are. Brice loves working at the ranch and that makes it easy for Abby & Clayton to become closer and they both find out that they both want to same things in life. To be happy surrounded by family but they both have so many things to overcome before they can find happiness.
Clayton is still trying to get past his life as a seal, he saw so much death and he just wants to leave that all behind can Abby be the one to help him? Abby just wants to be happy and to make sure that her brothers are both safe & well and she just wants some time for herself. Can they really make this work?
I really enjoyed this story line as the characters were both genuine and very likable. Everyone will love this book. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publishing house in exchange for my honest review.

I have read and loved all of Donna Grants books. This is not her usual type of book. She normally writes paranormal romance and this is in no way paranormal. It is a good, quick, light romance story. Very well written. This is the first book in her new series

Clayton is an ex-Navy Seal back home to help his parents out on the ranch finding out that there was something amiss in his absence. The family is not short of alot and seem to be missing a whole lot of cows and their prized bulls that can rake in a ton of thousands. Abby's been taking care of her younger bothers doing what she can, little did she expect to find out that her brother was in jail for stealing cows. Clayton ends up working up a deal with the young boy to work until his debt is paid and hopefully the boy will spill the secrets on who put him up to it and find the missing animals.

This was such an enjoyable book, good for the holidays but not overpowering when it comes to the Christmas theme in it. I have a soft spot for books with cowboys and I love a good holiday book so this book appealed to me. The thing is some authors tend to overdo the Holiday theme where its a bit overwhelming and this book was subtle. I loved the characters, I loved that there was a bit of back story to the character to make the reader love Clayton and Abby's character all the more, I loved the romance that was blooming between and it it gets heating quite a few times. Overall this was a pretty good book, I pretty much devoured this book in a day because its just that good.

The Christmas Cowboy Hero is the first book in the Heart of Texas series. After leaving the SEALs, Clayton wasn’t ready go home until he got a call that his dad was sick. When he returned home, the ranch was a mess and cattle were missing This could be part of his dad's health issues. While fixing up everything, he finds a possible lead to the source of the missing cattle. I enjoyed Clayton and Abby's story, and I definitely recommend this book!
