I would give this book 3.5 stars. Overall, I liked the concept, and the idea of using and breaking down the senses when it comes to food. Taste, smell, sight, sound etc. However, more exercises and ideas of each would have been handy. Also, the concept of taking pictures and posting them of each seemed odd to me. Not sure I want to look at an ear, a nose, a mouth, etc. And I get the idea of stopping and thinking about the foods, but the book openly admits it may or may not help you lose weight. Interesting read, and I recommend it, but not exactly what I was looking for.
I really enjoyed how Bays broke down the seven types of hunger in Mindful Eating. I think each type is unique and specific and Bays did a great job as she outlined and described each type to connect each one to a Buddhist philosophy to keep readers and eaters present and aware.
Be aware that this is not promoting a type of fad diet. This is to change your mindset for healthier diet changes in your life.
