This was a sweet, cute Christmas love story. By about chapter four, you know how the book will end, but the journey takes many twists and turns to get there. If you're looking for a sweet, uncomplicated, Christmas love story, this is a good one to pick up!
This was a very Christmassy feeling book, perfect for a cold, rainy day!
Noelle is a single Mum and part of a family who own a bakery that has been in their family since her Gran started it. Her Gran sadly passed away a year ago and the bakery has been struggling since, with Noelle's Dad and her Grandfather running it.
Noelle then gets an unexpected job offer, looking after an elderly gentleman who lives in a nearby mansion. She jumps at the chance as the pay is wonderful and there is live-in accommodation for her and her son in the mansion, so hopefully she can also help the bakery stay afloat, although it turns out they only have until the New Year to turn things around or they will lose it.
The romance interest is with Alex, her new employer and grandson of William, the elderly gentleman Noelle is now looking after, but also the reason the bakery is possibly closing as he is the owner of the building and has hiked the rent up.
There is also a slight mystery about a 'missing' ring running through the story and an old romance between William and someone he met when he was younger, before he went on to marry someone of a better social standing that his family expected of him.
I did feel the romance between Noelle and Alex a bit rushed and felt it could have had a bit more depth to it. Noelle always seemed to be sorting out the bakery and meeting up with her friends and seemed to spend very little time with William, her 'proper' job, but hey good work if you can get it! The story in general though certainly left me with a lovely, warm Christmassy feeling, lots of snow and Christmas baking, along with the old mystery romance with William and a slow-burning romance between Noelle and Alex. Cute, festive story.
No one does feel good reading full of heartwarming beautiful romance and warm and magical Christmas' better than our very own Mrs. Claus, Jenny Hale. We'll Always Have Christmas is testament to that.
