In "Partials," Dan Wells crafts a gripping tale set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity teeters on the brink of extinction. With meticulous world-building and a protagonist as determined as she is relatable, the story follows sixteen-year-old Kira as she embarks on a quest to save her dwindling race from annihilation. What sets "Partials" apart is its refreshing lack of a dominant romantic subplot, prioritizing the urgency of its dystopian setting over mere love interests. Wells seamlessly weaves scientific intrigue into the narrative, offering readers a thought-provoking exploration of survival, morality, and the consequences of playing god. With its fast-paced plot and diverse cast of characters, "Partials" is a must-read for fans of dystopian fiction craving a thrilling, unputdownable adventure.

A quick paced, decently written YA Sci-Fi dystopian novel, Partials was a solid 3 star for me. I tore through all 450-ish pages in one sitting; however, I find myself struggling to put into words why I was able to do so. I might be burnt out on the YA dystopian trend, because it left me at the end with no feelings one way or the other, just ambivalent. That being said, for fans of the YA dystopian genre, Partials may well be a series they have missed due to the 'more popular' series, and one they will quite enjoy.

Partials is the first in a three-book post-apocalyptic YA series. Dan Wells is a seasoned craftsman and builds a unique and exciting world. On audio, Julia Whelan narrates fantastically and really brings the story to life.
