When you start a book in the series "Slow Burn" you have certain expectations about the pacing of the book, and this was definitely a slow burn.
When you first meet Jackson, he is a jerk and strikes sparks off of Bianca almost instantly...and you are looking forward to them pursuing this attraction. The potential for an amazing hate f*** is there...and then it fizzles until about 60% in the book, I was non-plussed with the relationship between them and was more interested in her life, and the things she was dealing with.
I understand why the author placed the importance on the outside aspects, as they are the reason she agrees to his plan, it shifted the focus from the central characters in such a way as it lost a lot of the "burn" for me.
I also thought the pacing in the last 3rd of the book was off in comparison with the rest of the book, which also made it feel a little off...once they got together, it was full speed ahead, or at least that was how it seemed to me.
I liked the interracial aspect and I wish that this had been made a little more prominent...in New Orleans, the potential for someone who is from there to be Creole, or mixed race, is a normal thing and I wish this had been given that prevalence and normalcy in the beginning of the story and not oddly hinted at.
Overall, I did enjoy a lot of this book, and I do recommend it, even though there were parts I wanted more from.
Another fantastic read by J.T. Geissinger. Burn for You is inspired by the Beauty and the Beast story. With strong lead characters and chemistry that is off the charts. Definitely a must read, looking forward to see what the next book in the series brings.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
My Review: She did it again! Author J.T. Geissinger gets me every time. She writes books that are so hot, and yet still so emotional. I will fully admit to this - when Jax told his whole story, I almost cried. I haven't read a book by this author I haven't loved, and while I would have said her rock stars were my favorite, Jax just eclipsed that. I maybe own this as an e-book, but I will definitely be purchasing this in print. It deserves a place of honor on my shelves!
I loved the spark between Bianca and Jax. I especially loved how they actually brought up the whole trope of "slap-slap-kiss." Burn For You is funny, sweet, emotional, and just.. just perfect. If you need a book you can't put down, look no further!
Cover Lovin': Hot and sweet, all at once!
Recommendation: New series, no prior knowledge required!
Final Rating: FIVE out of FIVE stars (5/5)!!! I loved every second of this! I can't wait for more.
Burn for You was a great 5 star read.
Bianca has just opened her own restaurant in New Orleans, French Quarter. The book starts with a really busy night for Bianca and she has to deal with “The Beast”, Jackson Boudreaux. He was such an arrogant jerk and was so rude to every one of the staff members in the restaurant. Lets just say Bianca was a lot nicer than I would have been. I did love how she gave it back to him.
You, Mr. Boudreaux, are the reason the gene pool needs a lifeguard.
Jackson is seething after his visit to the restaurant, but yet he also finds himself attracted to Bianca. So much so he dreamed about her. When he realizes that he needs a caterer for his upcoming event, he makes Bianca an offer she can’t refuse. And let’s just say this is just the beginning for these two. He makes a second offer that will help Bianca care for her mother, only stipulation is she has to marry him.
She’s not the running-off type, she’s more the light-you-on-fire-and-walk-calmly-away-while-you-burn-to-ashes-type.
As things move forward you start to see a different side to Jax and Bianca. Their feelings start to grow and they eventually give in to their attraction. I really enjoyed the back and forth between these two, I had so many LOL moments with some of the comments made by the secondary characters. Lawd, that dress she’s wearin’ is so tight you can almost see her religion. The ending was great and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next in this series. I also liked the recipes they were great. If your looking for a hate to love romance with humor thrown in than this series is for you. 1-click and get started today.

4.5 Stars!
I really liked Burn For You by J. T. Geissinger. This standalone novel incorporates everything I enjoy....a strong damsel in distress, a billionaire with a tragic past, an engagement of convenience, and a villain that turns out to be a complete wuss.
Bianca Hardwick is a hard working chef and her New Orleans restaurant is quite unique. She has created her culinary specialties around Boudreaux bourbon, because she believes it to be the tastiest bourbon in the world. Her restaurant is always packed, so her patrons must agree with her flavor offerings. Bianca's mother used to own her eatery as well, but Hurricane Katrina washed it all away. Bianca's last relationship ended very badly, so as a result, she has embraced her work and single status.
Jackson Boudreaux comes from old money. His birthday is right around the corner, and with it comes a huge inheritance. However, in order for him to continue to live the life of luxury, he has to be married or join the family's business on or before his birthday, which is only a few weeks away. He chooses marriage over business, due to his not so cordial relationship with his parents. After knowing Bianca for only a short time, he asks her to be his wife. Bianca has no desire to be near, let alone marry, such an arrogant snob. However, she cannot afford her mother's very expensive medical care, so she agrees to the marriage in exchange for money.
Bianca and Jackson make an interesting couple. They both find each other extremely attractive and desirable. As they spend time together, Jackson unveils his tragic and misunderstood past, which Bianca is able to make better.
This is a well-written novel and the richly developed characters are authentic, compassionate, and very likable. I absolutely love the Engagement of Convenience trope, and Ms. Geissinger's interpretation is emotional and sexy. This is the first book from the author's brand new series Slow Burn.

What a delightful contemporary retelling of the Beauty and the Beast! Enemies-to-lovers is one of my favorite romance trope, and the author used it with great talent. “Burn For You” is the unforgettable story of two indomitable characters whose love affair is absolutely enchanting. It was a perfect, fun read that had me giggling and swooning simultaneously. I loved everything about this book. The characters were well-written and their development, especially Jackson’s, is fantastic. The banter was absolutely delightful, the humor was irresistible.
Jackson Boudreaux is heir to a bourbon empire. He has a dark past that’s left him emotionally broken and living as a recluse on his palatial estate, with his majordomo as only friend. Jackson is ready to give up on love, until he meets Bianca Hardwick. She is the owner and chef of a new trendy restaurant in New Orleans' French Quarter. Bianca didn’t grow up with money, she is a self-made woman, passionate about her profession. She is also a dedicated daughter and a good boss.
She is not impressed by Jackson’s barely leashed temper, his arrogance and his grumpiness. I loved Bianca, she is feisty and is not afraid to speak her mind. She does take no prisoner and was adept in handling Jackson’s insecurities. She excelled in digging a way into his guarded heart and brought out the best in him. Behind his cold facade and his mercurial temperament, there is a man utterly vulnerable. This character definitely grew on me, he starts out as a spoiled, entitled loner and slowly becomes the perfect book boyfriend. I loved the interactions, the banter and the realistic way their relationship progressed. Sparks fly when they are in the same room. Their chemistry is strong from the get-go and keeps building throughout the story. There were so many wonderful moments between them!
This touching love story between two kindred spirits was simply beautiful and a joy to read! I did find the ending kind of abrupt, I guess I needed an epilogue. This book is a standalone, told in dual first person POV. I highly recommend it and definitely plan on devouring more books by this author!
So much fun!
I absolutely adored the characters. Bianca is a riot, she's so funny and basically the main reason why I enjoyed this book. I love being in her head, and I especially love how she curses. I also love her relationship with her mother and her employees. The scenes with Bianca in the kitchen doing her thing and banter with her employees are among my favourites. Jackson is a grumpy beast of a man, and I love him so much. His backstory is hella sad. Bianca and Jackson sparred quite a lot in this; they're both strong-willed and stubborn as heck, but I love how they communicated with each other.
The only problem I have with this book is that it felt a bit rushed towards the end? Like so many things were happening at once and then the next thing you know it's the last chapter. Also where is my epilogue???? I can't believe Ms. Geissinger deprived me of a proper epilogue. I also wish we saw more of Christopher.
Overall, Burn for You is an entertaining read. This is my first Geissinger book and it won't be my last.
Burn for You is a fun sassy romance with lots of Southern charm, on the heroines side that is. Jackson is all broody sexy A-hole until Bianca gets to him. If your looking for a nice little read with lots of quirky side characters this one's for You!
This was an o.k. book, it is not something that I would read again nor really recommend. I am not saying that it is bad, it's just that it didn't grab my interest. I finished reading it hoping it would get better, I didn't think that it did, but it is also not deserving of being torn to shreds. Book is about a restaurant owner Bianca, who although her restaurant is popular is still struggling financialy. Enter Jackson, who is a bitter man and he has his reasons. They are attracted to each other, and go into a fake relationship.. We find out why Jacson is the way he is, and why Bianca agrees to arrangement.
This was my first experience of reading this author's work and it definitely won't be the last! What an awesome contemporary romantic read! Jackson and Bianca's chemistry sizzled off the pages. I laughed out loud at some of their interactions and cried during others. The description of Louisana and the colorful side characters made the storyline that much more intriguing and interesting. I loved Jackson's POV the most! Once you start reading it, you won't want to put it down -- definitely a one-click awesome read! Can't wait for Book 2!
This is the first book I've ever read by this author and I can't wait to read more! Witty banter and a hilarious heroine, a closed off hero and intense chemistry between the two. I loved this story and the slow burn romance! I'm excited for the next book in this series!
Bianca has a successful restaurant she was able to open after her Mom's restaurant was lost in Hurricane Katrina. Her current menu is made around Boudreaux bourbon. Imagine her shock when Mr Boudreaux himself walks in, demands a table, and when he gets sat at the bar threatens to sue her.
She steps up in true form and tells him what she thinks and sends him on his way.
Her mouth as usual makes her more memorable than she would like and this book becomes a book of sexual tension, laughter, sadness, and true love. It is really on of the best books I have read in a long time and am looking forward to the next book in this series.
** I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
Burn for You is the first standalone in Miss Geissinger’s new Slow Burn series. I’m uncertain if the riff on the fairy tale theme will continue throughout the series, but there’s a definite nod to The Beauty and the Beast in Burn for You. I’ve been a fan of this author since stumbling onto her Bad Habit rocker series, and I’ve stayed a fan because she tends to write strong, independent heroines and gripping storylines, while sprinkling in a hearty dose of snark and humor. All of those elements were present in Burn for You, and I know I’ll be continuing this series.
I have a soft spot for the grumpy, scowling hero who’s hiding a soft heart, so I was instantly intrigued with Jackson. He had quite a story and some painful secrets that shaped his rough exterior, but I appreciated that the author consistently gave the reader insights that there was more to this hero. Not relying on a ta-da moment or sudden change to his personality made his shift after meeting Bianca all the more believable. I also really liked Bianca. She was determined and fiery, with a compelling story. I enjoyed how the food/chef aspect of her life was woven throughout the narrative, from her descriptions of people to her memories tied up in recipes, making her character dynamic and interesting. Following a highly confrontational first meeting, Burn for You uses the marriage of convenience trope to bring these two together. While this plot point typically is more often a miss for me, Bianca and Jackson’s arrangement made sense and worked. Really the only thing that didn’t quite work for me with this book was the sudden change regarding Jackson’s parents. I liked the resolution, and really liked how Bianca was a major part of bringing the family back together. However, the misunderstanding explanation didn’t quite reconcile with the original story or the demands Jackson’s parents placed on him at the beginning of the story. That said, this element didn’t make me dislike the story and I thoroughly enjoyed the romance between Bianca and Jackson.
Burn for You offered quite a variety of tropes, good characters with depth, and a sweet romance that boasts plenty of heat. While I’ve come to expect some powerful storylines form this author, Bianca’s relationship with her mother was incredibly touching, leaving me in tears at times. The insight and guidance Bianca received from her mother and sous chef, Eeny, was especially wonderful and had me highlighting up a storm. If you’re looking for a new book and enjoy a broody hero and feisty heroine, I definitely recommend getting lost in this New Orleans based love story.
Burn for You by J.T. Geissinger is the perfect combination of southern sweet and slow burning chemistry with a dash of angst.
Bianca Hardwick, New Orleans restaurant owner. Sweet as pie and a force to be reckoned with makes a deal with Jackson "The Beast" Bordreaux. It's almost like making a deal with the devil himself. He is the heir to a family bourbon dynasty and frankly makes a less than stellar impression at their first encounter.
But there is something there, just under the surface. Simmering, bubbling, building...
"Fate is just the sum of all our bad decisions."
I adored Bianca, such a beautiful, strong character. She was hilarious, sassy, witty and I loved her southern flair.
Jackson, what a douche at first impression. Yet I couldn't help but want to know more about him, what made him tick. He was complicated and grouchy. A tortured and complex hero that will melt your heart.
“I think sometimes it’s easier for a man to be the worst version of himself than to let the world keep breaking his heart.”
From the get go these two were like oil and fire. Heating up the pages with their chemistry. I swear when they first kissed I was jumping up and down with happiness.
J.T. not only gave her readers a fabulous slow burn love story. She also gave us New Orleans with its magical culture and supporting characters that you'll fall in love with along the way.
My only wish was a little more, the last 25% things unfolded and got wrapped up rather quickly. With all the slow build up, I needed a little more.
This was my first JT Geissinger book and I adored her writing style. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
“Because of all the marvelous and terrible things we can experience in this life, love is the only one that will last beyond it.”
This was okay. Some parts are fun, others are just too cliche for me to really enjoy especially the characters.
From the cover to the intriguing synopsis, Burn for You had me hooked from the very start. Not having read any other books by the author before, I was really impressed with her execution of the story and how well developed the characters are. It’s evident that both of them have issues of their own, but together the chemistry is truly explosive.
At the beginning of the story we get to meet Bianca Hardwick, a New Orleans chef whose popular dishes has slowly made her successful around the city. It has taken her hard work to get to where she is and she is not about to let anyone get in her way, especially Jackson Boudreaux. He might be powerful and rich, but she is not about to let him walk into her restaurant and start ordering people around. But when he does indeed come to her restaurant demanding to see her, she doesn’t have a clue that her life is about to change forever.
Jackson “The Beast” Boudreaux may have it all, the money and the looks to get just about anything he wants. His family may be well-known, but moving to New Orleans has prove to be an adventure of its own. As the heir to the family bourbon dynasty, he has been raised to lead, but he wants something else for himself. When his chef suddenly quits, he is in need of someone to help him with his benefit dinner that he is throwing for the Wounded Warrior Project. It’s an excellent excuse to see the sassy chef that has been haunting his thoughts. When she helps him with his project, it becomes evident that he is attracted to her in more ways than one and he is not about to stop at nothing to make her his.
I had such a good time reading this book, it was sweet and funny. It was truly hard to put down, especially with the amount of chemistry that we get. Bianca is such a hard worker, but when she needs money to cover her mother’s medical costs Jackson makes her a proposition that she can’t deny. Marriage. For Jackson, his proposition would not only help Bianca, but it would get her closer to him. When they start to spend time together, the harder it gets for either of them to deny their feelings for each other. I liked Jackson’s personality the most, he is tough around the edges and charming on the inside. He cares for Bianca and it showed. The ending was hilarious and I loved how the author included recipes throughout the story. Overall, I highly recommend reading this book! It will not disappoint at all. :)
4.25 stars--BURN FOR YOU is the first installment in JT Geissinger’s contemporary, adult SLOW BURN erotic, romance series. This is heir to the Boudreaux Bourbon dynasty Jackson ‘The Beast’ Boudreaux, and New Orleans’ chef Bianca Hardwick’s story line. A number of the chapters begin with a series of Cajun/Creole recipes that look as yummy as our story line hero sounds.
Told from dual first person points of view (Bianca and Jackson) BURN FOR YOU follows the fake engagement between New Orleans’ chef Bianca Hardwick, and heir to the Kentucky Boudreaux Bourbon dynasty Jackson Boudreaux. Jackson is desperate: the caterer and chef he hired quit just two weeks before the fund raiser for the Wounded Warrior Project; and Jackson is about to loose access to billions of dollars unless he agrees to marry before he turns thirty-five. There is only one other option-an option Jackson refuses to acknowledge-fearing the demons from his past will continue to rear their guilt-ridden heads. Enter Bianca Hardwick, restaurant owner and chef, and the woman with whom Jackson will fall in love. What ensues is the fake but building relationship between Jackson and Bianca, and the fall out when Bianca is no longer in need of a million-dollar payout.
Bianca Hardwick works hard but her mother’s illness is costing our heroine thousands of dollars she does not have. Nearing the end of her available cash the surly but beautiful, Jackson Boudreaux makes Bianca an offer she cannot refuse-five years to play along and become Jackson’s wife in return for a one million dollar price.
The relationship between Jackson and Bianca begins acrimoniously. Jackson’s gruff exterior and lack of social manners pushes all of Bianca’s buttons and more. But Jackson hides a dark past of secrets and shame- secrets that once revealed will bring about forgiveness and acceptance from the people he cares about most. The $ex scenes are limited but intimate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Bianca’s employees including Pepper the hostess; sous chef Ambrosine aka Eeny; pastry chef Hoyt, Bianca’s ex-husband Trace; her ailing mother Davina Hardwick, and her mother’s ‘boyfriend’ aka the Colonel. Jackson’s circle of friends is limited to his assistant Rayford and little man Cody, but we will come face to face with his parents Brig and Clemmy Boudreaux.
BURN FOR YOU has moments of heartbreak and grief; truth and acceptance; falling in love and letting go of the past. The premise is engaging and encouraging; the characters are broken, colorful and intense; the romance is seductive and provocative. BURN FOR YOU looks at one man’s struggle with the past, and one woman’s battle for the future.

Burn for You by J. T. Geissinger is the First Book in the series "Slow Burn". This is the story of Bianca Hardwick and Jackson Boudreaux “The Beast”.
Bianca is restaurant owner and chef who has used Boudrequx alcohol as the theme of her menu. But when Jackson comes in with his uppity attitude and arrogance . Tempers and sparks fly.
Jackson was hurt once before and feels that people are looking to stab him in the back or just use him for money. Which has built up his attitude and defense against people. But he has a charity dinner to host with about 300 people and needs a catering person. So he goes to ask Bianca who keeps telling him no at first until he throws out a large amount of money.
Of course she has to take the job then because she just found out she may be needing some money so for a unexpected emergency.
But will their sparks fly into a full burn?
I was intrigued and excited to start this one.I enjoyed this one a lot, I loved the storyline and the characters I just couldn't feel their connection.I liked the interracial aspect and I wish that this had been made a little more prominent.
