Disney's Manga Descendants is the manga version of the movie. This was so cute. Loved reading this graphic novel. Definitely worth a read.
Thank you so much to NetGalley, TokyoPop and Diamond Book Distributors for the opportunity to read Volume 2 of this Disney Manga.

I loved the comic although I'm a bit confused with the fact of dividing the story in some parts.

Let me begin by telling you I’ve never seen the movie and haven’t read volumes 1 or 3 of this Disney Manga trilogy. Based on the blurb and cover illustration, we’ve got some kids who spend a considerable amount of time at the hairdressers and who usually live on the Isle of the Lost with their Disney baddie parents - Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar and Cruella De Vil.

I don’t know how or why but these baddies in training have been invited to attend a yuppie prep school in Auradon alongside the goody two-shoes Disney hero kids. Our baddie Descendants are Mal (purple hair), Evie (blue hair), Jay (really long hair and probably brushes it a hundred times a day to keep it silky smooth), and Carlos (likely to be bleached, extremely likely to be highly styled, spiky hair).

Baddie parents are counting on baddie kids to act the part in their evil scheme to overthrow the goody two-shoes and take over the kingdom (or maybe just the Auradon part or is Auradon the kingdom?!). Will baddie kids be bad or will they save the kingdom by “embracing their innate goodness”. Hmm… “embracing their innate goodness”. I suppose we are in the Wonderful World of Disney. 🧚‍♂️

I’m not overly sure what happened in this volume other than it being a set up for the grand finale where our baddie heroes decide if they’re more baddie or hero. Other than that there were enough “I need a boyfriend” conversations, makeovers, cheerleaders and insta-love magic style to make me extremely grateful I’m done with high school.

If you loved the movie then you should like this trilogy because, from what I’ve read, it’s a play by play of the movie’s highlight reel. Personally I think I’ll give the rest of this trilogy a miss and will give the movie a very wide berth.

I like my villains to be of the sarcastic, funny, evil variety that is destined to die but they’re going to entertain you until then, like Hans Gruber from Die Hard or Peter Krieg, A.K.A., Simon Gruber (Hans’ brother) from Die Hard with a Vengeance. I want to love my villains, not watch them magically transform into someone we can all look to for moral guidance. If you want your villains to have a lightbulb moment and turn syrupy sweet this may be the story for you.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, TokyoPop and Diamond Book Distributors for the opportunity to read Volume 2 of this Disney Manga trilogy.

In the second volume of the Rotten to the core trilogy the gang continues their plot to step the fairy godmother's wand.
The story line is pretty good and the artwork is beautiful. I'm eager to see how this ends and I think I prefer this manga version better than the movie.

I saw this book on NetGalley and thought I would give it a try. I have honestly not seen the movie so I am a bit behind on Disney movies at the moment. But I really enjoyed this book and story line! It was very interesting to see the artwork and how they made each character different and gave such personality even through the drawings. I loved it and now thinking I should watch the movie to see if it as good as this book.

It was good to catch up with the story of the descendants characters again in a new format. This is a manga version of the story of the movie. The drawings are really beautiful and are true to the characters in the movie while staying true to the distinctive manga style.

Another true to the movie manga version of the story. This is part 2...which follows immediately after the first. The artwork is still beautiful, and I liked that it kept true to the movie.

It was a cute little read but the plot was exactly as the Descendants movie. I would have liked a little more variation in the plot. Very cute drawings though!

Comic book that is scene for scene and word for word exactly the same as the movie Descendants. So if you haven't seen the movie, or if you don't mind reading exactly what you've seen only in comic book format, go for it!!

My 8 year old who is a big fan of the movie, loved this. It is a pretty direct mirror of the movie so don’t expect anything new.

Daughter Mine is a huge Descendants fan. I've seen the original movie half a dozen times. The songs from the 2nd movie are now part of my brain.

This manga is very cute and very true to the first movie. Note that it's just a portion of the movie - equivalent I guess to a couple of chapters? And if you've seen the movie, it is exactly the same.

The graphics are bright, adorable, and true to the movie in a very manga way!

Now, my daughter would have preferred same graphics, characters, etc. with a different story line. As far as she was concerned, it was really cool but nothing new. I get that. I would have liked a new plot as well.

But this is great for your manga loving kid!

I have to admit that I actually really like this series. I thought this volume wasn't quite as good as the last but still entertaining and I'm looking forward to the end of the trilogy. I thought this volume was a little slower than the first but we are getting into the meat of the story and setting up for the end so it makes sense. I'll still be looking forward to the finish.
