Mystery and intrigue from start to finish.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

I hadn't read the first two books so this was my introduction to Denise Aragon, a Santa Fe police officer who has, at this point, gotten herself into a world of trouble. I was intrigued by her, as well as by her relationships. Scarantino has used this to explore power. Secrets and lies are at the root of the hostage situation that propels this novel. Elected officials sometimes believe they can hide theirs but that's not always the case. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
