Keep Her Safe is a romantic suspense novel that I have been dying to read, and it did not disappoint. In this book we followed Noah and Gracie, who were both children of former police officers, and after many years apart, come back together to do some crime solving! Well, they do a bit more that solve crimes, if you know what I mean….
I digress…. more on that in a moment… So anyway, they come together and use what limited resources they have along with a very pesky FBI agent to give them some closure about what happened to Noah’s mother and Gracie’s father, while making many revelations along the way. They could never be sure who to trust, so the reader is suspicious of everyone, which I love in a suspense novel. OH! And this book was told from multiple perspectives, so not only do we get to be both inside Noah and Gracie’s head, but we also get some glimpses into the past through their mother and father.
Gracie is spunky and so determined, I love her straight forward, take no shit attitude. Noah balances her out so freaking well. Oh, Noah… he is like, the perfect, sweet, SEXY, southern gentleman. Like, where can I get one of him?! Okay, admittedly, he might be a bit TOO perfect, but I love him nonetheless.
One of the things I think this book did just right was balance the main story-line with the romance. It is not overly sexual for no good reason, the intimate moments felt so… well, intimate. They served a purpose. They built up slowly, and were executed well. I also loved the bounce back and forth between the past and present. It added to the story slowly, like it just crept up to the end right alongside Gracie and Noah. Everything came together so smoothly.
Overall I am super pleased with this novel, there is really only one reason I gave it 4.5 instead of 5 stars. I think this tends to happen in suspense quite often for me, but it seems like things get to the big reveal and then end almost abruptly, as if there are no further after effects. I guess when there is romance concerned as well, I would like to see that wrap up better too, like after the crime is solved give me a bit more info on where they stand, or maybe a glimpse into the future, a epilogue that wraps it all up in a pretty bow… just something more. It’s just that wanting a little more closure that bugs me, but still not so much that it would stop me from reading again and continuing to highly recommend!!!
K.A Tucker is easily one of my top favorite authors and I’ve yet to pick up a book with her name on it that didn’t become a new favorite immediately. Keep Her Safe was no exception. I couldn’t put this book down, the plot kept me during each page with excitement.
KA Tucker has written quite a few books that I have really enjoyed, and as I finally finished Keep Her Safe I'm trying to figure out why I waited so long to read it! I ended up listening to a finished copy on audiobook, and I have to say, the audio is exceptionally well done. I think it actually added to the experience for me, which was nice. I couldn't stop listening to this, and I still didn't see that ending coming. I think I might have liked just the slightest bit more information at the end to wrap things up, but that is literally my only complaint about the book. Well done!
A couple months back I received an email asking me if I wanted to read Keep Her Safe for review. As I usually do I looked into the plot of the book to see if it was something that interested me. USA Today said "Making a Murderer meets Scandal in this story of police corruption, family secrets, and illicit affairs from bestselling author K.A. Tucker, celebrate for her "propulsive plot twists and searing seduction."
If that doesn't sound intriguing I don't know what does. I finished this book very quickly because I simply couldn't put it down, that's how good it was!
The book begins with two police officers, Jackie and Abe, who are not only partners but best friends. Abe is like a father to Jackie's son Noah, so when Abe is murdered in a hotel drug bust not only do they lose their friend but Abe's daughter Gracie and his wife are left behind as well.
Flash forward many years later and Jackie -who's now Chief- is also a drunk who is constantly facing demons from her past. Noah returns home one night to his mother so intoxicated that he can't understand any of the cryptic comments she's making to him. He goes to take a shower and while he's gone Jackie commits suicide. Leaving behind not only a destraught son she also leaves behind clues for Noah telling him that Abe's murder wasn't what everyone thinks it was. She also leaves him money that she instructs him to give to Gracie who now lives in a trailer with her drug addicted mother who has never recovered from Abe's death.
Gracie and Noah get off to a rough start but after things are explained and the two of them go on the hunt to find out the true story of her fathers murder things start to heat up not only between them but in the case as well.
I loved that there was a relationship we got to watch form between the two of them but I also loved that I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what was going to happen. Who killed her father? Why was he murdered? Would Noah and Gracie be next for not leaving the past in the past?
If you're looking for something to keep you guessing and also will give you the romance you crave then I definitely recommend picking up a copy of Keep Her Safe.
This was my first K.A. Tucker, I like trying new authors. This was an okay book. I didn't realize that it was a Romantic Suspense, with not much romance or suspense. May try another of hers when I have nothing better.
Best KA Tucker book to date. One of my all time favorite reads. It'll forever have a place on my shelf.
K.A. Tucker always writes quality novels. I'm obsessed with her writing. I enjoy when she incorporates suspense and mystery into her romances, like her Burying Water series. Normally, I'm not a fan of novels that start a bit slow, but Tucker made it work so that I was completely captivated by the happenings of the story.
This was my first K.A Tucker book and I was really looking forward to it. I am happy I enjoyed it, and plan to check out more by this author.
The story is told in alternating points of view, and we get insight on the past and present. I was able to appreciate how fleshed out the characters were, and how different each voice was. The story was pretty complex for what it was, and there were a lot of surprises. My only complaint is that it felt like it dragged on in some areas that didn’t need as much detail, and I felt the ending was rushed after all that. The ending was a little surprising, I didn’t figure it out, but felt predictable. Overall, this was an intriguing read and I’m glad I finally dived into it.
Keep Her Safe is a new K.A. Tucker story.
It's a suspense story that will keep you on you toe. It starts off with Noah struggling with discovering his mother deepest secret. It's a heavy burden that he is determine to unravel and solve it. But it is going to be very complicated because it will be a huge scandal for Austin Police department. But he is determined to do so especially with the help of Gracie.
Gracie may have struggled in life but she makes do. And she makes more do when she discover a break in her father death. She gets to partner with Noah that they get to discover a whole another secrets and lies when they unravel Austin Police department scandals.
Keep Her Safe is good read if you are in the mood for slow pace. I definitely hope that they could have add more depth of the characters and chemistry so their relationship together. But overall, it is good slow pace read.
Three Star
I was impatiently waiting for this book and the wait was so worth it! Noah was someone I loved reading about, I liked his way of being and acting, and how despite being with such a deep grief, he sought the truth because he knew it was the right thing to do. Gracie was one of those girls that you would like to have around and as a friend, she is loyal, strong, independent and very nice, besides that she and Noah both have a heart of gold. I loved the secondary characters a lot; I feel that each one had a lot to contribute to the story and that made it even better. I loved Kristian! And I hope K.A. Tucker is going to make a story about him.
The story was super addictive from start to finish; I wanted to keep reading but at the same time I didn't want to end, it was that good! The plot was super well developed, everything happened at the right time and the feelings! Oh my poor heart! I think what caused more impact and feelings in me, was the fact that it went from the present to the past so you already knew what was going to happen because that's what it was about at the beginning but I didn't want it to happen, and when I came to that specific scene my heart couldn't resist it, it was so sad!!
And the things that happened! I think I'm good at predicting what's going to happen in a story, but there were several things that took me by surprise as well as they were a total shock, and the ones I did see coming they surprised me anyway. I feel that K.A. Tucker keep getting better and better in this genre, usually I'm not interested in police suspense, but she made me want to read more of it.
Honestly, you need to read it! Is amazing and you will not be able to stop reading it until you finish it, is an addictive story, well written, with some very good characters and will break your hearts.
This is my 3rd time reading one of Tucker's books and most definitely not my last. I've read her last 3 recently published so I need to go back and read her others. This is my 2nd time reading one of works about a mystery (He Will Be My Ruin).
Although, this one is more intense!
If you are a big fan of romance, I wouldn't necessarily pick this up because of that. The romance isn't what makes this story; its the mystery and suspense of figuring out who's the killer and who's actually behind it. If you want something different to "cleanse your reading pallet", then by all means, PLEASE pick this up because it's perfect! Regardless, this book was fantastic and I still highly recommend it!
I had so many theories in who I thought did it but every turn I kept getting shot down. I thought I could catch on, but I couldn't. I was honestly shocked, but at same time after letting it sit, that it was the character. Don't worry, I won't spoil anything.
Seriously, if you are already a fan of Tucker, DEFINITELY pick this up!
Willow gets cozy with USA Today bestselling author K.A. Tucker. Topics range from her new novel to corruption, cabins, and how Willow’s in love with the shape of her.
"I need a good block of time. I can’t sit down with only an hour. It takes me an hour or two just to get into the swing. And then I will write–I will write, write, write, rewrite, over and over. And then I’ll read my words. I have to read my words to kind of find my pace and find where I am every morning before I start writing again."

Keep Her Safe is filled with unanswered questions and a closet full of skeletons. Two strangers who have both experience tragedy in find their lives suddenly colliding. Grace and Noah’s point of views were represented in the story, as well as; the present and past. I felt the romance overshadowed the case during certain parts, but overall it was put together really well. Grace and Noah’s attraction build right along with the story, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. These days, I find majority of authors don’t let the romance build and instead aim straight for it. Usually I’m okay with that, but for a suspense book, I was grateful for the slow build.
Overall I found this rather entertaining and I couldn’t wait to see if my suspicions were correct. Made me feel like a true detective. Haha.
There's a reason why KA Tucker is one of my very favorite authors. Her books are ALWAYS amazing! This one was no different. Such a great read!
Keep her safe, will you?
There are times when a book is so predictable that it’s funny. I can usually take good guesses as to what can happen; but unfortunately, I had NO IDEA what was happening in the book. K.A. Tucker writes a thrilling novel that literally keeps you on your toes until the very end. Keep Her Safe is not predictable at all, and I think it’s a pretty great thing that I chose this story as my first ever by the author. I’m totally kicking myself for not reading sooner. That being said, I do have all her books! So there is that.
I think the book started off somewhat slow. It took me a second to realize that this is the type of book to be savored. Noah and Grace are two completely different people that are connected in so many ways. Noah is the nice guy; the one you can always depend on. Grace is more hard headed and stubborn. She doesn’t trust easily and she’s bitter. For good reason. She grew up believing one thing; then all of a sudden she’s being told that everything she thought was true, isn’t.
It can be somewhat confusing but I think she took it all in good stride. What I thought was particularly cool was that the book is told in alternating POVs between Noah, Grace, and at times both Jackie and Abe. Jackie is the mother of Noah, while Abe is the father of Grace. Everything connects with each other
and it was fun seeing it all come together. The subject matter is dark. And scary. That’s all I’ll comment on about that. Overall, I think Keep Her Safe is definitely a story worth reading. Especially when you get a hero such as Noah!
Oh, how I love a K.A. Tucker book! More specifically, though, I love her romantic-suspense books, so I’m always extra eager to read them. What I like so much about them is the suspense/mystery/thriller aspect is done really well and is actually a major focus, but still balanced with a great romance. Keep Her Safe had that perfect balance and was another hit from the author.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the thriller aspect of it, and also love when there are police and legal aspects mixed in as well.
Just when you think you know what to expect from an author K.A. delivers something that takes you to a whole new level. K.A. is known for her amazing contemporary romance and romance suspense, but MAN OH MAN is she phenomenal at writing straight up suspense. Twists, turns, and basically a roller coaster of emotions and unexpected revelations . While this book does have an element of romance, it's not the main theme. Having said that, you'll fall head over heels for Noah!
Noah is the son of Jackie, the Austin Police Chief and he currently works in the District Attorney's office. He lives in a nice, posh neighbourhood, and he seems to have his life on track. That is until his life gets turned upside down after finding his mother dead in the kitchen from a gun shot. He is then given the task of delivering a package on his mothers behalf to a former colleague who she believed deserved to have it.
Grace is the daughter of Abe a former disgraced Austin Police officer. Who just happened to be Jackie's former partner. 14 years later, after her father was found dead in a motel in what looks like a drug deal gone bad, she is now living in a trailer park with her strung out mother and a colourful variety of neighbours working a crappy job just to provide what she can. She is constantly coming home to find her mother over dosed on some drug she was able to score. ( I think my favourite character from the neighbourhood is the dog....you'll see why!)
Noah takes on the task of delivering a package to Grace and her mother that no one else can know about. He drives through the night to get to Arizona where Grace is. In the hopes of simply dropping it off and fulfilling his mother's wish. He had no idea what he was going to find when he got there, or just how much help Grace needed. ( even if she wouldn't admit to it)
Once these two reunite, it's all about finding out the truth. Digging up the past from Abe's horrible reputation to Jackie's involvement in everything. Along the way it's also about discovering that they need each other, and for more then just getting to the bottom of things they thought they once knew! It's an eye opening journey for all involved. A true page turner!
K.A is amazing at providing twists and turns, and while it isn't a romance, there is an underlying element of it. Noah isn't suppose to be a book boyfriend, but he truly is swoon worthy! This book will keep you on the edge of your seat every page. My mouth actually dropped open a few times through out this book, especially the amazingly woven secret at the end. #Noahisswoonworthy #greattothelastpage
** I was provided with an ARC of this book by Atria in exchange for my honest review** (less)
Okay, I'll try to do this without giving too much away.
I loved Noah. He is independent, caring, and tries his hardest to do what's right. His lifestyle is much better than what Gracie is accustomed to, but it is not without its problems. I could see his struggle with wanting to protect his mom and also between doing the right thing. Once he meets Gracie. They don't exactly hit it off. They clashed because of their differences, but they ultimately learned to work together.
Grace AKA Gracie, lives in a trailer park in a bad area of town with a mom who is addicted to drugs and a dad who was murdered and labeled as a bad cop. But she feels like her situation is only temporary. She is extremely hard-working and stubborn and beautiful and is very determined to make a better life for herself. Once Noah enters the picture things start to change for her. She doesn't immediately trust him, but if she wants to find out the truth about her father then Noah is just about her only option. Everything isn't so black and white. And it’s hard to tell who they can trust and who they can't.
I’ve read a handful of K.A. Tucker’s books and I have to say, this one is my favorite to date. Keep Her Safe grabbed my interest within the first two chapters. The story was well paced and I never once felt confused or that I was getting an overabundance of information thrown at me. The characters were nicely developed and it was easy to connect with them. Mystery/Suspense novels are my jam and this one was good. Everything wasn’t easy to guess or figure out. LOVE. THAT. And if I thought I knew something, I didn’t know all of the details. If you’re a fan of Romantic Suspense stories or K.A. Tucker’s writing in general, then I would recommend you pick this one up.
I've been reading KA Tucker since Ten Tiny Breaths and while I haven't loved every book and every story, I did love most of them or at least something about them. And it's been interesting following her writing as she's evolved as an author.
I loved Keep Her Safe; it was more steamy romance thriller and less angsty book porn, it had the romance aspect, but definitely more story and character driven than other NA counterparts which I felt NA desperately needs.
If you haven't read KA Tucker yet, definitely start.
