As big of a fan of K.A. Tucker's contemporary romances as I am, I am starting to think I just may be an even bigger fanatic for her suspense novels. Such a thoughtful and clever author who weaves clues into the most unlikely of places, who creates a world where nothing is ever as it seems, she never ceases to amaze me and, after devouring each of K.A. Tucker's suspenseful works, I just can't seem to get enough, finding myself virtually rocking in a corner with grief upon finishing a book and counting down the hours until the next. Producing book after book that stays with you long after you have finished, Keep Her Safe is one that still consumes my thoughts days after the end, long after I've moved onto another book, and leeching into the most improbable times during my everyday life.

Ever the brilliant storyteller, K.A Tucker can transform even the most mundane of descriptions or conversations into something of monumental importance as they very likely may hold details that are integral to the story yet easily overlooked if not read carefully. Being constantly vigilant and continually wary leads to a story that keeps you on the hook, as well as on your toes, as there is never a dull moment and never a good time to let down your guard.

Keep Her Safe is especially gripping as we are still gathering new information the entirety of the story and nothing fully comes together until the very last chapter. Instantly pulled in by the mysterious ramblings of a very troubled woman, it doesn't let up from the moment some extremely cryptic words are spoken until you are slapped in the face with a twist you could never anticipate. A story that keeps you guessing every step of the way and has you continually second guessing everyone's words, actions, and intentions, I challenge you to find a good place in which to set this book down and dare you to try to walk away without thinking about it in your real life.

All the pieces of this story are so expertly and intricately woven together that despite having the majority of information needed, you don't even recognize the full story until close to the very last page when everything finally falls into place, realization dawns, and appreciation of an author that could so effortlessly lead you through so many twists and turns without a single inkling of what is really going on, just grows and grows. With just enough information to keep you hooked and just enough detail to make you think you have it all figured out, you soon come to realize that with so many pieces, so many contributors, so much hurt and betrayal, there was no way to fully anticipate everything that actually took place to shape this story.

A book that is entertaining and utterly consuming with a strong message as well. Keep Her Safe goes a long way in reinforcing that "it can never be a mistake to help someone" and it can never be wrong to do the right thing. Though this book may not set out to scream at you to be a person of good moral value, to make good, honest, ethical choices, and to stand by your convictions, the main characters are shining examples of both what to do, as well as what not to do, and how doing the right thing, or even the wrong thing, despite the consequences, can have lasting implications on not only you, but your loved ones as well.

An impressive and awe-inspiring book that will make you want to immediately reread it to find out just where you were led astray, how you could have overlooked a vital piece of information here or there, or how your mind could be so thoroughly blown. Days after finishing Keep Her Safe, I am still admiring K. A. Tucker's prowess and proficiency in creating a book that is truly a mystery from the first page until the very last and eagerly awaiting the next masterpiece to come.

I honestly wasn't able to finish this one. I read another book by the author and really didn't like that one either, so I'm beginning to think that her writing just isn't for me.

There are two aspects to this story: the actual mystery and the romance. I greatly preferred the mystery to the romance.

I was automatically drawn to the secret that Noah's mother revealed to him. It promised to be the start of a complex tale - and it was! I loved all of the different twists and turns that the story took, making every single character a suspect. The author also did a great job highlighting important issues like corruption and human trafficking. However, I found the story to be quite long and I don't think every part of it was necessary.

While I didn't realize this novel had a romantic suspense angle, I didn't quite love it. I liked Noah's character just fine but I didn't really like Grace. She was far too stubborn and pigheaded and there were moments where I really wish she had used some common sense. I have no problem reading about fiery female protagonists but when they act in an unintelligent way, it really annoys me. I also didn't really find the development of the relationship between Noah and Grace believable. The beginning of it was a little too forced and fast-paced, but it eventually worked out as the story progressed.

I went into this novel with very high hopes because of a lot of positive reviews, however I didn't love it as much as I wanted. It had a good plot and interesting twists, but I didn't like all of the characters and I thought the romance aspect developed a little too quickly for my liking. I would give this a 2/5 star rating!

This was my second KA Tucker novel and it definitely won’t be my last. I devoured this book eagerly over the New Years holiday. It’s a fast paced, edge of your seat murder mystery with a lot of intrigue and who dunnit. The romance definitely takes a back seat here but that’s ok- the mystery takes the limelight all on its own and rightly so.

I loved the two main characters, Gracie and Noah. My heart ached for both of them in different ways, but mostly for Noah. What he went through is just unimaginable and the fact that he stayed so completely together for the majority of the novel was a tad unrealistic in my opinion. That being said, it didn’t take away from the story for me. You just got the feeling that he’s one of those people that can pretty much handle anything. His need to protect and take care of Gracie was sweet and noble. Gracie was a smart, determined heroine with a soft side for Noah. I really loved them together.

The writing was top notch- another reason I will read more Tucker novels. I enjoy her writing her style and her plots. I’m so glad I was given an opportunity to read this book. Thoroughly enjoyed it!!

From the prologue to the last word, you are absolutely on edge with this book. I never knew what to expect from page to page. This book is definitely more suspense than romance, so keep that in mind when diving in. Even though it was light in the romance department, the corruption, family secrets and all the stuff that keeps you on the edge of your seat in a good crime/suspense novel is there. Told in a series of flashbacks, we learn that not everything is as it seems.

This book definitely was not what I thought it would be but in a good way. I loved every minute.

Keep Her Safe is a book that doesn't quite fit in any category. It features late-teen to early-twenty characters and focuses enough on their parents that it kind of feels like YA, but it’s not. Nor is it angsty, sexy NA in the vein of Tucker’s Ten Tiny Breaths. I guess I’d call it NA romantic suspense, if there is such a thing. Why not?

There were things I liked about it, so let’s start with those. I think that Tucker is a talented suspense writer. In fact, my favorite of her books is probably Burying Water. I thought the two main characters were really appealing — Noah, the white son of a police chief, and Gracie, the biracial daughter of a cop. Noah’s mom and Gracie’s dad were friends and served as partners on the force until something went terribly wrong and Gracie’s dad ended up dead and disgraced. Years later, Noah finds something that he thinks Gracie needs to see, so he sets out to find her and make things right.

But then there were things that bothered. me. First, I felt that there should have been two kinds of tension in the book – romantic tension, and the tension between Noah and Gracie as a result of their parents’ conflicting interests. Ideally, a suspense book should have escalating tension, but in Keep Her Safe, I felt like the tension sort of came and went. I also felt that the guilty party in the story was really, really obvious.

As for the romantic tension, this was a sweet and very, very slow burn romance. Just when the two characters would start to get hot and heavy, something happened – the doorbell rang, etc. That happened several times in the book. I don’t mind PG level romance, but since many of Tucker’s books don’t shy away from graphic romantic scenes, I was sort of perplexed.

I also thought this book felt very long at almost 450 pages. It includes a lot of flashbacks to 2003, when Gracie’s dad was killed, and I’m not sure those added very much to the story. As much as I appreciated the attempt to draw the reader back to the past, I think I’d have preferred more time spent on amping up the suspense and the romance in the present-day part of the plot.

In short, if you’re expecting steamy romance or unbearable suspense, you might feel let down by this one. But you love romantic suspense, definitely check this out.

Before starting KEEP HER SAFE, I had never read anything else by K.A. Tucker. I was going into this one expecting a thriller, which this definitely was, but I wasn't expecting the romance element to it. When I later went to the book store on release day to find a copy, I had the hardest time finding it, but I eventually found it hiding in the romance section. If you want your thriller without a side of romance, then this might not be fore you, but I definitely enjoyed it!

Noah has enjoyed a very comfortable life, and this is all thanks to his highly decorated chief of Police mother. All of that comes crashing down when a skeleton from her closest comes out. One that she's been hiding for years - and she begins to succumb to the overwhelming guilt of what she did.

Gracie's life was flipped upside down when her father, a corrupt cop, was killed in a drug deal gone wrong. She and her mother have learned to survive on their own and avoid any harassment about her father. Until one day, an unexpected visitor arrives, and her quiet life comes to a halt.

This book was definitely more on the lighter end of the spectrum when it comes to a thriller. As I'm sure for other readers of the thriller genre, it's always nice to have a lighter suspense to cleanse things, and this is exactly what I needed! The romance wasn't too overwhelming, but it's definitely there. Tucker did a fantastic job reeling me in and keeping me turning the pages to find out the truth!

Overall, if you're looking for a lighter suspense novel, then KEEP HER SAFE should definitely be on your TBR! I loved Tucker's writing style and I'm already keeping my eyes peeled for more from her.

I give this one 4/5 stars!

If I’m being honest, this is not the book I wanted to read. I am a fan of contemporary romance and I know that K.A. Tucker is capable of writing great stories in that genre. Truthfully, that’s what I was hoping to read. Instead, I read a story of families, deception, corruption and betrayal. Not exactly the witty, light-hearted stuff I usually gravitate to. But the good news is that once I resigned myself to the fact that this was going in a different direction, I settled in and was able to appreciate the mystery.

My romantic heart was teased with the romance that blossomed between Noah and Gracie but it wasn’t the focus of the story, nor do I feel that it should have had more prominence. I felt the romance had a natural place in the story and to have played it up more would have taken away from the essence of what this book was about.

Once I got into this story, I found I was truly intrigued by finding out what happened and as the story was coming to its conclusion, I was binge reading to find out how the events unfolded.

This book just proves that Tucker has quite a diverse writing range and that she is capable of writing stories with the right balance of tension, mystery and romance. She remains a go-to author for me regardless of the genre, though I’m secretly hoping for more contemporary romances in her future.

This was an 'I love this author's work and will read anything she publishes' combined with 'wow, she wrote a romantic suspense and I have to try that'. So yes, I might have been rarin' to go when it came to Keep Her Safe.

Keep Her Safe is a standalone and, as I pointed out, its a romantic suspense. I had no trouble believing that this author could write it since she's put some real breath-stealing twists in many of her earlier stories and she can develop a character so the reader knows them intimately. The book introduces two characters- Noah and Gracie. They are the children of two cops who had a falling out. Both cops are now dead- one to murder fourteen years before while supposedly being involved in a drug deal gone bad and the other one killing herself. Austin Police Chief committing suicide after hinting strongly at cover ups is what sets the ball rolling in this one.

Of course, a cover up, dirty cops, murder, and a suicide after confessing some startling statements had me riveted from the beginning. But I think Noah and Gracie's road to the truth was more compelling than the actual mystery- which was very clever and twisting.

Noah was an incredible hero. Not because he's handsome, charming, skilled, or anything that tangible. Though, yeah, he's all those things. Don't worry, he's not too perfect to be believed. He's a guy who goes through fire in this book. He has so many big, crucial choices to make. He was smart enough to hesitate and think about what he was doing and he's in way over his head. He lies a few times by omission, mostly to give himself time to think through all the new disturbing things he's learning even while he is hurt and grieving over his mom's death and the way things are spinning out of control. He respected the heck out of two men and his mom. All three are pillars for him- and one dies looking corrupt, the second commits suicide after hinting she's corrupt, and the third wants him to just leave it all alone. He's on his own when he starts making decisions to do the right thing by Gracie and her mom, Dina. He keeps doing the right thing even when it nearly kills him and destroys everything he believed. Gah, I just cherished and loved this young guy to pieces.

Gracie, the daughter of a cop accused of being dirty, has lived a hardscrabble life as a result. Her mom's a heroin addict after going to pieces following her husband's death and never believing he was guilty, they live in an old rundown trailer with drug deals and violence going on within sight, and her life is going nowhere. She doesn't even have it in her to dream of anything different or a future. Then Noah comes into her life and does all the right stuff. She treats him awfully and is suspicious of his every word because he's just too good to be true. And she can tell he's struggling with something he knows even after he explains that he's just fulfilling his mom's last wish. Grace doesn't want someone's guilty help; she wants the truth and she's going to get it come hell or high water even if it destroys everything because she's waited long enough for justice to come do, but she finds herself looking to Noah to help and be that sterling guy she can barely believe is for real.

The dynamics between this pair was something else. Noah keeps his cool in the face of Gracie's fire and fury. She is a loose cannon, unapologetically, at that. She pushes Noah hard and rushes in and shoves questions and accusations in everyone's faces even when its dangerous and someone's already killed to keep their secrets safe. Subtle she is not and she wasn't someone I could love, truth be told, because of how she bulldozed through everything even Noah's grief and pain when she could have given him a minute now and then- its a fourteen year old case. I could respect where she's coming from and could respect her resilience and even like her to a certain extent. Noah was the first person to treat her well and he stands beside her even though each new piece of evidence they uncover is a piercing and damning truth of his own mother's culpability. I felt Gracie ran roughshod over things, but I had no difficulty enjoying how the author wrote her character. She's just what I would have expected after the hard life she led and yet she's good and feels compassion for Noah even if her actions at times say differently. They are such opposites and they balance each other.

A side character that really had me intrigued was FBI agent, Klein. What a wily and colorful character. Didn't blame Noah for wanting to punch him; he has that affect when he's riling folks up. And while I'm on the subject of side characters, Cyclops the stray dog was a hoot. He was a great character and had his own moments of heroics.

I haven't said much about the suspense side and I won't. It's got some great twists and surprises and that is the treat in this otherwise darker, heavier story. Gracie and Noah piece things together and suss out what really went down fourteen years before and what happened in the present. I caught on to the truth and the culprits easily, but there are still some 'whoa Nelly' twists that I loved.

In summary, this was abso-fab and I was riveted. I did not want to set my book aside when I had other things to do. I was captured by the heart of this story and the characters. I can't wait to see what comes next from this author and I hope its more romantic suspense. Do yourself a solid and give this book a go if you like romantic suspense.

★★ 4.5 stars! ★★

Keep Her Safe combines all of the elements I have loved in KA Tucker's previous books—the who-dunnit murder mystery from He Will Be My Ruin, a kickass and prickly heroine like Ivy in Surviving Ice, and a strong and sweet hero like River from Chasing River. Throw in some slow-burning chemistry, a buried family secret or two, and a mangy mutt, and you have yourself a winner!

Noah comes from a family of lawyers and law enforcement. Growing up, he was loved dearly by his mother and had a surrogate father in her police partner, Abe. That all changes the night Abe is killed by a drug dealer and it’s revealed that Abe wasn’t the honorable man everyone thought he was. Turns out, neither was Noah's mother.

Life also changed in an instant for Gracie. Not only was her father taken from her at a young age, she grew up with an absentee mother who uprooted them shortly after her father’s death. Gracie didn’t have an ideal upbringing, but she’s learned how to look out for herself and her mother. When Noah shows up on her doorstep bearing a gift from his late mother, he dredges up old memories and partial truths and takes them on a life-altering adventure into the past.

Gracie and Noah make a great team and I loved seeing them grow close while learning to trust and open up to one another. Noah is sweet and polite, while Gracie is stubborn and hot-headed, so they really complemented each other well. They’re survivors who didn’t let the tragedies of their past hold them down.

I truly love KA Tucker’s style of mystery and suspense. She delivers a unique and heart-pounding tale of lies and deception while tempering it with moments of young love and humor. There are twists and turns that I didn’t expect, and I love it when a book can keep me on my toes. If you’re in the mood for a story that you can’t put down until the very last secret is revealed, be sure to give this one a go!

This was probably one of my most anticipated reads this month, and even this year. I was ready to dive into another suspense novel by K.A. Tucker! I didn’t really read the synopsis because I didn’t want to know anything about it and just let it take me on the ride without knowing what to expect. And it was soooo good!

KEEP HER SAFE is a story about corruption in the police department, at its core. But it’s so much more than that. The hero, Noah, is left with a big burden. After his mother’s suicide, and the pieces of secrets she confessed to him, he goes in search of the truth about the demons that tormented her. And that leads him straight to Gracie’s door. Together they embark on the journey of uncovering the truth about something that happened fifteen years ago. Something that changed Gracie’s life completely, and the one thing that ruined Noah’s mother’s life.

First of all, the mystery was so juicy. It was so well fleshed out and complex that you couldn’t help but feel it was real and wanting to dive in deeper. I loved everything about this because every time I thought I had something figured out, there was always another question in the back of my mind. Who, what, why? And just when I was feeling so proud of myself in the end for having caught on to the “big bad” right away and being right, there’s a plot twist I didn’t see coming. This delivered everything I love about reading a good mystery. Kept me on my toes, looking for clues, anxious to know more.

Then there’s the characters. Noah and Gracie are so lovable, and so different from each other. While this is also a romance, that’s definitely on the back burner here and I was very happy for that. If the romance had taken over any more page count I feel both the mystery and the romance would’ve suffered. It was done in the only way it made sense for who these characters are and the situation they find themselves in. So I loved the bit of romance and how we got it. I wouldn’t even call it a slow burn, but I guess you could say that. I just genuinely liked both characters. Gracie for her strength, her fighting spirit and her resilience. And Noah for his genuinely good heart. They have both suffered so much and only the truth can start that healing process for them. I was rooting for that, just as much as I was rooting for them to be together.

K.A. Tucker has a talent at narrating dark, twisted stories in a way that feels so effortless. This may be one of the darker subjects she’s tackled (because it’s really more than one thing) and it’s probably my favorite book I’ve read by her. I couldn’t put it down, I wanted to solve all the different layers of this story, find out the truth. And I love how it wasn’t all an easy resolution. There were many things to figure out and while I had figured out the main thing from the very beginning (quite literally) there were still threads that I didn’t see coming. And the ending was just so perfect.

If you are looking for a suspense-filled read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then pick this up. I really enjoy all books by this author, and I have read all she has written. This one did start out a teeny bit slow, but I really got into it about 20% through. This one has mystery, suspense, romance, and a bit of humor mixed in. I became pretty invested in the characters and found myself wanting to keep reading when I should be sleeping.

I absolutely love everything that K.A. Tucker writes. Keep Her Safe is a new standalone novel from K.A.. This book is filled with lots of drama, suspense, and a little bit of romance. This book is told in alternating POVs some from the past and some from the present which I really enjoyed.

Noah has always lived a pretty comfortable life as the son of the Austin police chief. He never expected his life would take such a turn until the night his mother commits suicide and his whole world is flipped upside down. He finds out his mother has been keeping secrets from him and now he needs to get to the bottom of everything and figure out what really happened to his mom's old friend Abe Wilkes. He starts by getting in touch with Abe's daughter Grace.

Grace's world was flipped upside down when her dad was killed. Her mother couldn't handle the news and used drugs to deal with it. Grace had to learn at a young age to take care of herself and her mother. When her old friend Noah comes back into her life things quickly take another turn. Together these two must work together to figure out what really happened to Grace's dad and what caused the friendship between their parents to end.

I loved the connection between Noah and Grace. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. I loved all the twists and turns this story took and all the emotions it brought our in me. It had me on the edge of my seat until the very end and I found myself not being able to put the book down. I can't wait to see what K.A. is working on next!!

Wow wow WOW!!! What a ride!! I'm just sitting here thinking about everything that unfolded on the pages of KEEP HER SAFE by KA Tucker!!!  It was totally what I was hoping for and so much more!! I'm gonna keep this review vague and mysterious because seriously JUST READ THE BOOK. I love KA Tucker and her story telling. There is just something about her that draws me in when I pick up one of her books. Last year's UNTIL IT FADES made it on top of my 2017 reads, so I was so excited about KEEP HER SAFE when I read the synopsis. I love the mystery/thriller aspect with just a sprinkle of romance. It was so SUSPENSEFUL & INTRIGUING from the very start, it kept me guessing all the way till the very end. She kept me on the edge of my seat as she revealed bits and pieces. A little bread crumb trail as we follow an intricate scandal unfolding with past and present chapters.

“You want to play in the big boys’ yard, you need to follow the rules.”

Noah Marshall, just lost his mother and at the same time everything he thought he knew about her comes into question too. She was a highly decorated chief of police, but slowly he discovers the truth as he uncovers her secrets.

Grace Richards has not had an easy life, and when Noah stumbles upon her, she is more that wary about his intentions. I loved her firecracker personality.

Together they are on a mission. An INTENSE ADDICTIVE SUSPENSE filled mission to expose the lies and secrets buried over a decade ago.

As they dig deeper and get closer to it their relationship also blossoms. KA Tucker did an outstanding job to bring it all together. The mystery, the pain, the betrayal. But also to give her readers a love story.

"I kiss her like I want her to pine over me. I kiss her like I want her to remember this moment in case we never have another chance."

There are so many layers to this book, just when I thought yeah ok I GOT IT, something else unfolds or gets revealed. It kept me asking questions till the very end.

I was immersed in a tangled web of deceit and lies with cleverly written characters as they seek justice and discover painful secrets. Questioning who they are as sins of loved ones comes to light. Great romantic suspense that kept me from doing housework and I may have ignored my children a little bit to finish the book 😱 <-- it's always a sign of a good book when they have to fend for themselves!!!!

Solid romantic suspense police procedural.

Noah Marshall's mom, Jackie was chief of police in Austin, Texas twenty years ago. She worked with her partner Abe Wilkes, who was also her best friend. His wife, Gina and daughter Grace were close to Jackie and Noah.

Tragedy strikes before Grace is 6 years old, and her father Abe is killed during a horrendous drug bust and is labeled a "bad cop". Jackie can't live with herself any longer because she has personal knowledge about that day and divulges unsettling information to Noah concerning Abe. After all, it did tear many lives apart.
Noah wants to set things straight with Grace and brings to light not only answers to what happened, but reveals the layers of corruption that no one imagined.

Sweet romance sprinkled between tracking down clues makes this a solid romantic suspense novel. It was predictable for me as I saw all the twists coming, but I enjoyed the characters and the Austin setting. If you're a fan of romantic suspense, you should check this one out.

WOW- what a ride Keep her Safe was! K.A. Tucker has written a few other books that were sort of romantic suspense, but KHS definitely goes into the romantic suspenseful genre full force!

Although we felt the story was captivating and held our interest, we did think it was a little slow in some spots!

Whoa. What did I just read? K.A. Tucker just gave us an intense suspenseful ride. I was hooked from the start. With each paged I turned I was attempting to figure out what the next twist would be and most of the time I was completely surprised.

I have always been a big fan of K.A. Tucker's writing style. She has an amazing way with words and each one seems so intentional and purposeful. I have been reading her for years and as she grows as a writer I continue to fall in love with her stories. Noah and Gracie's intense story captivated me and stole away all my attention from all the tasks I was supposed to be doing. I loved them and the mystery they find themselves wrapped up in.

I try not to read blurbs. I like to go into things not knowing anything about the book. I read them based on recommendations from friends or there’s a list of authors that anything published by them I pick up.
KA Tucker is one of those authors. I love her writing and Keep Her Safe did not disappoint. It’s actually my favourite of hers. It has a little of everything to keep you on your toes. I don’t know how she’ll ever top this one. Can’t wait for the next book!
