A knock out story by Larissa Ione as per usual. Forsaken by Night was excellent and I can’t wait for her next book!
Forsaken by Larissa Ione is a short but interesting read/listen. This is book 2.5 in the Moonbound Clan series. I have had this on my kindle for some time now, but recently got the chance to read it.
This installment introduces Lobo and Teyah. Lobo is a 120-year-old vampire who is also a skin walker. He can shift into any living form, be it human or animal. A former member of the Moonbound Clan, banned for shifting into the form of another clan member. Since then he has been wandering the woods and living a lonely existence. That all changed when he rescued a wolf, that was injured and on the brink of starvation. She became his constant companion for 12 years.
What he did not know is that Teyah was no ordinary wolf.
I found Lobo to be an intriguing character. His protective nature led him to take a great risk to save Teyah’s life. A risk that would pay off in the end.
Teyah proved a fascinating character. Loyal and fiercely protective of Lobo. She showed courage in the face of danger.
Despite, this being a short read, the story packed a punch. There was sufficient romance, action and heat to keep me glued to the pages.
The fluidity of the story made it easy to follow. I loved the world building, which made me realised how much I missed this series. I curious to know if there are plans to continue the series. The good thing about this, there is no need to read the previous books prior to reading this installment.
Narration
Amy Landon narrated the story. This is my first time listening to her work and I enjoyed every moment. She did a good job with the narration. Her pace and tone fit the story well.
Conclusion/Recommendation
Overall, a good read with interesting characters.
It’s been a long time since I read the last Larisa Ione book, so when I got the opportunity from #NetGalley to read the short story for her new series MoonBound Clan Vampires, I was happy to give it a try.
As in all her books, there are two main characters, who just happen to be together and who just have to fall in love and are ready to do what ever it takes to stay together. And as the readers already know from the main books, the clan is changing, so Lobo and Theya, who have been cast outs to far may actually have chance for hapiness.
It was short and intense story, good read.
Great addition to the series. Loved Teyha and Lobo and their story. They had such a wonderful bond together and seeing them come together after Teyha escapes the bounds of her wolf was a joy to read. My only wish was that it had been longer.
I look forward to the next book in this series.

I was absolutely in love with this novella and I couldn't put it down until I'd finished.I loved the twists, and there were parts that was really funny.I like this series and it was so nice to have a novella in this world . Tehya’s been stuck in the form of a wolf, and she just doesn’t know how to change back. She’s been living with a male vampire, Lobo, as his pet of sorts. But Lobo knows there's something special about Tehya. He throws caution to the wind to save her.I found the concept brilliant and so captivating.
Yes another excellent installment in this exciting series! Ms Ione's Demonica series held me enraptured this one is fast doing the same! I recommend this author to my reading friends, every chance I get!
This book is a short companion to the series I’ve already been reading. It’s short, but worth the read.
Lobo, a vampire adrift without companionship due to a miscommunication years ago discovers Tehya, who he assumes is a wounded animal. He nurses her back to health and finds in her the companion he’s always needed. The only thing missing? If she were a female vampire. Lucky for him, fate seems to be on his side. Sadly, for Tehya, she’s been stuck in wolf form because she accidentally shifted years ago. She’s found companionship in Lobo but she’s unable to be with him the way she ultimately dreams of.
After a horrible accident, Lobo is forced to sneak in and get help from his old friends, breaking all the rules along the way. By risking his life, he ends up somehow triggering Tehya shifting back and starting all sorts of other drama. These two are well matched and made for some good entertainment. Even if you’re not familiar with this world, it’s a good read.

This is actually the second time I have read this book first encountering it as a novella in the book Blood Red Kiss. This book was still very good the second time around telling the story of a woman stuck in wolf form and a man/lone wolf who lives alone in the woods.
I really liked the previous books in this series and loved reading about Lobo and Tehya and seeing just what Tehya is willing to do to keep Lobo safe.
This novella was such a delight to read. I initially was a bit uncertain I would enjoy the premise. I love vampires. I love paranormal romance. I am certainly intrigued by shapeshifting but put all of that together?! It was surprisingly refreshing! I often like my heros to be more dominant and confident. Often, when heros are given a troubled past, I find some writers can't put the two together well. Larissa managed this feat and it was so thoroughly enjoyable. The dynamic between Lobo and Tehya sizzles!
I never felt the story was too slow or lacked backstory. It also managed to not feel rushed. I was quite impressed given this is the first book in the series I have read. Given it's #2.5, I was worried I would be a bit lost. I definitely was not! I felt it could be a stand-alone novella on it's own or read out of order. I was left with a definite curiosity for the rest of the series. I most definitely will be looking into the other books in this series. I really recommend this novella if you are tentative about this series. It's a quick way to wet your appetite and assess your interest.
This was my first Larissa Ione book and I will definitely come back for more! The chemistry between the two leads was irresistible and steamy!!!
I received an advanced reader copy (ARC) from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I was such a fan of Larissa Ione’s Demonica series. I had great hope that these Moon Shifter books would give me the same kind of pleasure and excitement. The first one did not work for me, but I thought it might be a fluke. I hoped that once the world was established, I would be able to fall in to this series the same way I did the other one. Unfortunately, in reading this story, I feel confident this series is just not for me.
Tehya is a vampire who has spent the last 12 years stuck in wolf form. Lobo is the vampire skin walker who adopted her all those years ago and has been taking care of her ever since. Lobo is an outcast from the clan where he grew up because of his shifting abilities. Tehya has been essentially the only thing in his life that has made him happy since he was ostracized.
When hunters shoot Telya, however, it is beyond Lobo’s his ability to save her. He must shift into the appearance of his former leader to sneak her back into his old camp to be healed. Her body manages to shift back to human form in reaction to her serious injuries and suddenly her relationship with Lobo takes on an entirely different vibe.
While the world building is distinct, I simply don’t enjoy it. I don’t like how miserable and awful it is. I did not like any of the characters beyond Lupo and Telya. And frankly, those two weren’t really developed enough to make me feel much of anything.
There were times that the wolf/pet connection was kind of squicky. I also was not a fan of watching them mate in animal form. I don’t know. I just did not feel anything good when I was reading. No real love, no chance for sexual tension. Maybe this would be a better fit for someone else, but for me, it’s a miss.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Netgalley.
Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with Larissa Ione. This was the first Moonbound book in the series that I've read and needless to say, I need to catch up. The story was excellent and left me wanting more. The story is short and fast, but packed a punch. There were a wealth of secondary characters that I wasn't familiar with but it didn't take away from the main characters. No, in fact, it just made me want to "catch up."
A very good read and I highly recommend it, especially if you're a fan of Larissa Ione. Good Job.
What’s it About? Vampire Tehya has the unique gift of being able to shift into a wolf. Unfortunately for her, she shifted and got stuck in her wolf form. For twelve YEARS. During that time she’s been the companion to fellow vampire and outcast Lobo, who was unaware that she was a vampire. When Lobo originally found Tehya she was half frozen and dying so he nursed her back to health and kept the wolf as a pet. Then Tehya is seriously injured and Lobo breaks some serious vampire rules to get her the treatment she needs and while she’s being treated she shifts back to her original form. Suddenly the special connection between her and Lobo takes a new and heated turn, but before they can figure things out, Lobo has to face the consequences of what he did to save Tehya.
Overall reaction to the story? It’s been a few years since I read the first book in the Moonbound Clan series and I never got around to reading the second so I felt that I missed some key points from that second book that were mentioned in Forsaken by Night. It wasn’t anything major that kept me from understanding what was happening with Lobo and Tehya but I knew I had missed something.
I enjoyed Lobo and at the same time I felt bad for him. He was an outcast because of his particular gift and that hardened him into a survivor but he also had a caring, nurturing side when it came to the wolves he considered his friends. His relationship with Wolf Tehya was equal parts tenderness and playfulness, he had a quick sense of humor, and a selfless nature which was surprising given the way he’d been treated in the past.
Tehya’s personality could be divided into two parts: Wolf and Vampire. As a wolf she tended to focus on the simple things like running, playing, and spending time with Lobo. As a vampire she had more complex needs and emotions. I liked the way she saw things and how she could be such a powerful being but still be so insecure about herself. She and Lobo made the perfect pair.
Forsaken by Night reminds readers why Larissa Ione is one of the best paranormal romance authors out there all while taking the time to introduce potential new fans to a strong series. Even though it was a novella I felt that Ione took the time to build a solid story with two likable characters within an already established world that could serve as a standalone.

So enjoy Ms. Ione's paranormal romances and "Forsaken by Night" was a good one. I so enjoyed it. Kept me hooked until I finished it in 1 day.

I love the idea of this series, very different to many supernatural ones currently on offer. Here the vampires are in danger of becoming slaves if caught by humans, despite their strength and speed.
Its a story I enjoyed, as with earlier books and would love to read more. The biggest issue I have though is that's its taking forever to get moving. I read the first book in 2013, second 2014 and this 2.5 book takes us a bit further along, but I'd forgotten so much of the previous stories its been so long between books.
Still, its a good read, typical Larissa solid writing, great characters and moving the overall story forward. I do wish these books were coming out more frequently as its refreshing to have a new slant on the vampire/shifter stories, and I love the addition of the Native Indian and mythology lore that's included.
Its a fairly short read - guess that's why its a halfway book, not a full one, but is a whole story in itself and it was good to meet up with others from first two books.
Stars: four, a good read, but I had to keep scratching my brain trying to remember how everyone connected, which took a bit away from the story for me.

I liked parts of this novella but frankly I think I like the 'clan' bits of this series best.
Lobo has been exiled from the Moonbound Clan of vampires and threatened with death, a vampire who can also shift into any creature (or human) of a similar size, from a coyote to a grizzly bear, he was accused of shape-shifting into another vampire in order to seduce the vampire's mate.
Lobo would have given up on life, without a clan he was vulnerable to humans who would want to make him a slave, if it hadn't been for the female wolf which he found badly injured over a decade ago. The two have become inseparable companions in the forest where they live until one day Tehya, the wolf, is badly injured by poachers and is likely to die. Lobo realises that the only way of saving his best friend's life is to carry her to the lair of the Moonbound Clan which has the nearest doctor, even if the way he gains entry could ultimately cost him his life.
What Lobo doesn't know is that Tehya is actually a vampire who accidentally shifted into a wolf and has no idea how to shift back. She has subconsciously been projecting her vampire self into Lobo's dreams, he assumes that Tehya must be the wolf familiar of a vampire, perhaps one enslaved by the humans.
I found the beginning with the lone vampire living in the woods with only his faithful wolf companion to be a bit slow, I felt I had read the same kind of set up in way too many PNR stories. I really enjoyed the bit where Lobo and Tehya interact with the Moonbound Clan, the politics, the changing alliances, the changes that Hunter has wrought in the clan since he became the leader. Loved it. Then there was the obligatory vampire sex which seemed to go on and on and on, in a novella the ratio of sex to plot needs careful consideration and I felt there was too much (only a personal view).
I liked the plot resolution and the hint of a cliffhanger (can't say more, cos spoilers), looking forward to the next in the series.
Great addition to the Moonbound Clan series. Well written as usual. This short story features Lobo a complex vampire with shape shifting abilities who is devastated when is long-time wolf companion Tehya is wounded. Unbeknownst to Lobo, Teyha is a vampire who accidentally got stuck in a wolf's form.
Reliant on the goodwill of the leader of the clan, the two band together to survive . Sexy , with some really humorous comments from the lead characters, the story moves along well. I enjoyed the appearances from some of the Moonbound Clan characters and the Native American vibe. Worth reading.
This is a cute short story. We basically get to meet members of the moonbound clan and then the main characters. There wasn't a lot of time to connect with the MCs as this was a novella but it was nice to see the characters from the previous books.
At this point , I'm tired of waiting for this war that is brewing on the horizon. There are too many variables being thrown into the story, gods from other realms, skinshifters, witches, the invisible man, it's getting too much. My worry is that the story would get cluttered with all this added components and make it difficult to follow. That being said, I look forward to the next book.
Forsaken by Night is book #3 in Larissa Ione paranormal romance Moonbound Clan Vampires series. If you’re looking for a quick read then this book is the one for you. This title is only 112 pages long and certainly get right to the point of getting these characters together.
Several years ago, Lobo was exiled from the clan he called family after he broke one of the laws. But in that same time frame, he assumed ownership over a wolf that made his exile bearable. With one shot from a hunter’s gun the wolf that Lobo named Tehya was mortally wounded and only one clan he knows that possibly could save her. So, doing the one thing that got him exiled, to begin with, but this time it may get him killed. But to save Tehya’s life Lobo is willing to try or do anything.
The plotline was engaging enough even though the coming together of the two main characters was rushed. But then again, the story was more of a novella than a full-length book. The character that I like the most was Lobo. After getting his background, I certainly wonder why he ever thought this clan was family.
Overall, Forsaken by Night was a very quick and enjoyable read. I certainly will recommend this story for readers who enjoy a good paranormal romance about vampires.
Lobo heard a shot ring out, it was probably a hunter or poacher. But Lobo was going to check it out. He investigated all gunshots. A habit leftover from his life at MoonBound Clan where Lobo had been part of the security detail. Now as an outcast he still patrolled Washington’s state forest. Now avoiding MoonBound warriors and they avoided him too. Lobo was damaged goods and as far as their alpha- Hunter was concerned Lobo was a traitor. Hunter was also a butt. Then Lobo let his companion Tehya who was a wolf out of his cabin. The concern lobo had was humans hunting the creatures that lived in the forest. Once Lobo connected with a wolf face to face, he could locate it with his mind seconds later no matter how far away the wolf was. Tehya was a unique wolf wolf. The likes of which Lobo had never encountered in his nearly one hundred and twenty years of life. Then her intense yellow eyes met his and an image appeared in his head. Something that happened once or twice a day for the last twelve years. The image was always the same: a tall. Willowy vampire with dark shoulder length hair and yellow -amber eyes. She was beautiful, mysterious, and adventurous. Lobo loved Tehya. She had come to him at the lowest part of his life, when he realized he had nothing to live for. Tehya was nearly dead when Lobo found her, she was so weak from starvation that she couldn’t stand. Tahya was covered with wounds likely from other wolves and coyotes. Lobo wondered if it would have been kinder to put her out of her misery instead of nurse her back to health. Tehya had made it and it didn’t take Lobo long to know she wasn’t normal. Lobo was a Skinwalker and thought Tehya was to but stayed a wolf too long to be a Skinwalker. Then Lobo changed into a wolf to look into that gunshot. Then Lobo heard another gunshot rang out and Lobo found out Tehya had been shot and Lobo found out Tehya had been shot, her hip blown open. It had been a poacher and Lobo had already turned into his vampire form. Lobo knew there was only one option to save Tehya the vampire clan that had vanished him decades ago had a doctor. Then Lobo did the forbidden and transformed into Hunter. Lobo had come to the MoonBound clan as an orphan . his parents killed by MoonBound butchers. Lobo had become Su’Neena’s whipping boy. He was treated like a dog literally. Then Lobo tried to show the clan Su’Neena was betraying the pack but she had lied and the clan’s fear of Lobo’s abilities had been enough to give her the benefit of the doubt. Su’Neena had tried to kill Lobo twice already. When Tehya came to she was in human form. She couldn’t believe after twelve years living as a wolf she had resorted back to human form. The tehya found out she wasn’t in human form but a vampire. Lehya had been human once working as a dental assistant while going to college to become a dentist. Tehya had been bitten gotten sick then transitioned into a vampire, then a wolf. Tehya’s mom had been on the run from the government since Tehya had been conceived. A woman came into the room Tehya came to in and tried to stop Tehya from leaving ,Tehya bit her then shot her against the x ray machine and took off and made it outside. Then Tehya knew she needed blood from a male vampire and Lobo came into her mind. Hunter and his clan were out hunting lobo and shot him then Tehya jumped into the water with Lobo. Lobo came to and he was in an old camper with Tehya . Lobo asked what her name really was and she said kristen but she preferred Tehya. Hunter and his clan got both Tehya and Lobo.
I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the way it showed a lot of growth in the vampire clan and Hunter personally. I liked Lobo and Tehya together a lot they just were good and meant to be.I didn’t like how Lobo was treated when he was younger then kicked out of the clan but I was very happy when it was a changed time for the clan. I liked the plot a lot as well as the pace. It was a quick enjoyable read. I loved that Tehya was so loyal and came into Lobo’s life when he was so desperate. I would have like some more background story on Tehya. I know there wasn’t time here but maybe in the future. I didn’t put the book down and read it at one setting. My heart went out to Lobo but I loved his loyalty to Tehya he would face death as long as he knew she was safe. All and All a very good romance and read. I liked this unique paranormal book with the Skinwalkers. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.
A pretty cool paranormal romance with unusual vampires
5 stars
This is the first book by Larissa Ione that I have read, and I was pretty impressed. It involves an interesting mix of Native American folklore, vampires, and wolf shapeshifters. The novella is exciting, steamy, and has real substance for a paranormal romance. I am very picky about vampire PNR, and at first the vampire society in here annoyed me a little bit. However, as I got to know the characters and the interesting world-building, I got engrossed in the story. It was only about 110 pages, but it was a complete story and can be read as a stand-alone. I recommend this book for all paranormal romance readers. I am glad that I found it, and I plan to read a lot more of Larissa Ione's work in the future.
