This the third book in Larissa Ione's MoonBound Clan Vampires and although it can be read as a standalone it's best to read the series in order since there is an overarching plot that is tackled a little bit in each book. In Forsaken by Night, we find Lobo who is a shapeshifting vampire (a rarity) and his pet wolf Tehya living in the outskirts of the clans who have an abhorrence for Lobo's kind also he's been declared outcast for a long time by the MoonBound Clan. He doesn't mind this, especially when Teyha came into his life twelve years ago. But Teyha has a secret that even she can't unlock. When she gets shot by a poacher, Lobo has no choice but to go back into MoonBound Clan territory to save her life. When they get caught it leads to a lot of other secrets being revealed including a possible spy in the midst.
So this was really short but like all of Ms. Ione's other books, it packs a lot of action into it. Also, it is the sweetest romance possible for a paranormal series, I mean Lobo and Teyha together was just hug worthy! Those who love paranormal fantasy that is a little bit out of the box should start reading this series!
Forsaken by Night is part of the MoonBound Clan Vampires series.
I haven`t read the previous books, but I had no problem to connect with the characters and the story. It`s readable as a stand alone.
This book was my first Larissa Ione book and I enjoyed reading it!
She created a interesting world with a touch of the Native American spirit ideology.
Larissa Ione is also very open when it comes to the sexual part.
If you`re more on the conservative sexual side, you could be shocked with the "animal to animal" part
that happens in this book. Sensitive readers will problably not like that. But it`s a fantasy love story and it
was tastfully written; so I was O.K. with that.
When I´ve more time, I`ll definitely check out more of this series. Larissas Ione`s vampires`re a interesting bunch of sexy males.
One little thing about me, Larissa Ione is one of my favorite PNR authors! She draws you into her story, pulls your heartstrings, and leaves you in an emotional wreck. The pulse pound forbidding action, was the icing on the cake!
Forsaken by Night begins with a young woman named Tehya. She has shifted into her wolf form, but can't change back. Which leaves her in a bit of a pickle, as being a so called "pet" to a vampire named Lobo. Lobo knows there is something unique about this furry creature, but can't find out why... He will have to keep an eye on his so called "pet."
Another great PNR read. The humor, suspense, deliciously sizzling chemistry . .
A 5 Star Read.
And do I see possibly another book in the MoonBound Clan Vampires series? If so, COUNT ME IN!!
*Special thanks to the publisher for providing me a review copy.*
I was so excited to read this because I read about Tehya and Lobo from previous books so I was happy to get this! It was awesome! I only wish it had been longer! I loved their story. These two are great together! I'm so glad everything worked out for them! This is easy to read and can be read as a stand alone book and you won't be lost. Definitely a great paranormal romance. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy.
I have really enjoyed this series but given that the last book came out in 2014, I sort of forgot about it. I’m not normally one for novellas because I don’t end up making a connection with the characters or their world, but since I’ve read the previous two books in the series, I figured I’d be fine. Due to the major break between books, I kind of forgot some of the key elements to what was going on and wasn’t overly sure if Lobo was someone I had “met” previously and had just forgotten. So, with that being said, if you wanted to read the novella without reading the previous books, you can. The author takes the time to sort of explain stuff without over explaining stuff. So, I feel like this would be a great read for fans of the series as well as newcomers.
One thing I loved about this story was Tehya’s character. After becoming a vampire, Tehya accidentally shifts into a wolf and is unable to shift back. Unfamiliar with being a wolf and unable to hunt or properly care for herself as such, she ends up in a pretty bad state by the time Lobo comes across her. Thinking she’s a wolf, he mends her, and takes her on as his pet companion. He has no clue that the wolf who’s protected him and been by his side for twelve years is actually a fellow vampire. Even though the author sort of gives you an idea on how they came to pair up and their close connection to each other, I would have loved for this to be a full novel. Mainly because I would have just liked more time with Tehya.
One thing is for sure, I hope we don’t have to wait another 3 years for the next book to come out. I have really enjoyed this series and the world the author created. I know that vampires seem to be a dying breed in books lately, but the spin that the author puts on her vampires breathes new life into them and makes them fun to read again.
This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
I am not a stranger to Larissa Ione, but not as well read in this series as I should be, but that didn't stop me from diving right in to this novella.
Forsaken by the Night is a novella in the Moonbound Vampire clan books and the 3rd story of love. I was totally unaware that this was a series when I dived in and I can tell you it didin''t take away from the story plot at all. We meet Lobo who was banished from Moonbound for more or less being what he is, which is a skinwalker and when his wolf that he has cared fro for 12 years in injured, he does what he promised he'd never do again to save her. Then, she wakes up human and all sorts of crazy just happens afterwards.
This story was chocked full of info but not in overpowering way, but in small doses. I was intrigued by the other characters in the story and went back and got the fist two and read those. After having read all three, this is a great little move along piece to whet fans appetite for the next book in the series!
Confusing. This is my first read by this author and I assume it's part of a series, but this was confusing as hell. They're indigenous vampires that are skinwalkers, invisible, witches, and other things, it was just too much. Now the positives, I liked Tehya, Lobo and their story even the whole shapeshifter aspect, and its written well. Strip away all the other stuff and it could be solid but unfortunately its a series so I assume the whole kitchen sink concept will continue.
Larissa Ione was one of the first paranormal romance authors I ever read. I was hooked instantly. Ms. Ione can write like nobody’s business and pull emotions out of readers with a snap of her wicked good dialogue or the pulse-pounding action. Forsaken by Night is book 2.5 in her MoonBound Clan Vampires series. It was released previously in the Blood Kiss Anthology, but is packaged individually here.
Tehya’s been stuck in the form of a wolf, and she just doesn’t know how to change back. She’s been living with a male vampire, Lobo, as his pet of sorts. But Lobo knows there's something special about Tehya. He throws caution to the wind to save her, and to say he's not expecting what happens to happen...weelllll.
That's an understatement.
I loved the idea of this book. It’s so original. Who is Tehya? How did she change into a wolf and why can’t she change back? Then there’s the mystery of Lobo who isn’t the most welcomed vampire around. I like the twists and turns here, and a few times I had to feel for this guy because seriously...he's got a whole lot on his plate! Tehya is such a delight too. She's very go-with-the-flow, but she's also super protective of Lobo.
Enter in some MoonBound Clan members, and we’re in for quite an adventure.
Forsaken by Night has everything I look for in paranormal romance--bits of humor, sizzling bouts of chemistry, dashes of adventure and discovery. There's also some treachery afoot hinted at in future books, and I can't wait to see how everything plays out.
5 stars!
Read this book many years ago and loved it. So re-reading it was great. Lobo shape shifts to help his wolf Tehya get medical care from his old clan. Then the clan want him dead for shape shifting. A must read.
A great fantasy romance read like all the books wrote be this author!

3.75 Hearts This is a very short story of less than 100 pages. It can be a stand alone even though that means you will not understand some of the dialogue of the story.
There is a lot that happens in a matter of these 100 pages. Tehya is vampire/werewolf mix but has been stuck as a wolf for over a decade. Lobo found the wolf almost dead and healed her. She became his world and saved him just as much as he saved her. Tehya then somehow manages to shift back and life changes for both Lobo and Tehya.
There is not much I can say that won’t give away some of the storyline since it is a such a short read. This series is a bit different than most vampire stories and well worth the read.
Disclaimer:
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This was an good paranormal read. I haven't read the previous books in this series and it wasn't a hard story to follow. Of course there was mentioned history between some of the characters but that didn't take away from this story, so I think this can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed the characters in this story a lot and the story moved at great pace; it was definitely entertaining. This was a very short read. There were a few surprises within this story and it was definitely steamy, so overall it was a good read.

The MoonBound Clan series is about a group of vampires with unusual traits, and Larissa Ione makes this novella a fascinating installment packed with creative details. From how these beings perceive humans to their unique abilities, I was once again drawn into the lives of numerous vampires that truly intrigue me. Dangerous incidents, honestly sincere emotions, and sarcastic humor cause FORSAKEN BY NIGHT to be continuously enthralling.
Although Lobo is no longer a part of the MoonBound clan because they felt he could not be trusted, the vampire still feels compelled to watch over the remote area where they live in the Pacific Northwest. One night when shots are heard nearby, he goes to investigate and takes the wolf that he rescued years ago with him. When Tehya is seriously wounded by a poacher, Lobo is distraught at the thought of losing his only companion and makes the rash decision to take his beloved pet to the MoonBound clan compound for help. There is only one way to aid Tehya quickly, but his plan could have very high costs.
FORSAKEN BY NIGHT has lots of clever originality in every riveting scene. There is so much happening in the story despite its shorter length, and I was totally caught up in wanting to discover how things would turn out for Lobo and Tehya. I simply adore the supernatural beings Larissa Ione has brought to life in this series, as each one has their own distinctive personality plus ability, and her latest romantic couple is not only spirited but also enchanting. Lobo has faced much hardship since he was born, and I really felt for this vampire who needs to be loved. What occurred to Tehya in the past is very remarkable, and her life has certainly not been typical for someone who was once human and then found her life forever changed.
Many of the conversations throughout the story are packed with dry wit and some great comebacks, and I just had to laugh when I envisioned these skillfully depicted scenes. Larissa Ione always creates charming characters who are so easy to love. A few surprising twists led to revelations that I was not expecting. There are also some interesting events taking place within the vampire clans, and I am hoping for more books in the series which will explore these situations. The story was previously released in the BLOOD RED KISS anthology and is now available on its own.
I voluntarily reviewed the book from the publisher via NetGalley, and all comments are my honest opinion
That read was really good. It was fast pacing PNR romance. What had happened in the past? Who is this Wolf?
HEA will be in the hand reach - but will they manage to reach for it in the end?
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I voluntarily reviewed it.
This story has been published in the Blood Red Kiss anthology so do not buy if you own that. I get that publishing is a risky business and recently several traditional publishers are no longer trading which means many authors are getting back the rights to their books and re-releasing which means readers really have to pay attention . Now fortunately I hadn't got around to buying the anthology so to me this short story was completely new. Funnily enough this hadn't been my favourite series by this amazing author but reading this has really made me hope she continues it.
It was interesting seeing the other side of the Moonbound Clan Vampires and being able to catch up with the estranged Lobo added a whole new element. He's able to shift into other forms but has no idea the Wolf who has become his companion also has that ability or does she? Tehya isn't the normal run of the mill shifter ( no not at all !) and she's well and truly stuck but with her memory fragmented what is she supposed to do? Fiercely protective of Lobo Tehya will do anything to stay with him but when she's mortally wounded Lobo does the only thing he can to save her , he takes her to the Clan that threw him out. Now that wouldn't be so bad but things start going horribly wrong when Tehya wakes up!
This novella was eye opening. I was absolutely not putting it down until I'd finished. I loved the twists, thought the interactions were so funny and it's really got me wondering what could happen next. Yes there are Vampires, yes it has an unusual shifter twist but best of all hope for a much happier future for Lobo and Tehya. Plus the alpha Hunter gets to hunt! A series best read in order and hopefully more to come soon.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

This was a super fast but enjoyable read. It's best to have read the first two books in this Moonbound Clan series for informational and background purposes, but not if you just want to enjoy Lobo & Tehya's love story.
Not your average vampire/ shifter story. Very well done as I have come to find is Larissa Ione's default setting. Very imaginative and creative and yes, sexy. I really liked both Lobo's and Tehya's characters so much and was rooting for them all the way!!
Such fun to have FORSAKEN BY NIGHT published in a standalone version. This novella has been awaited for a long time. It was originally released in the book "Blood Red Kiss," along with stories by two other great authors. I've been hoping that there would be additional books about the MoonBound Clan Vampires and I was glad to read this short story. The previous book was published in 2014 and I thought that was going to be the end of this series. Now that we have this short story about Lobo and Tehya and their relationship to the Clan, I hope that more novels will follow. According to Larissa Ione's website, there will be at least three more novels in this series.
