Even after several books, the series feels as fresh as the first one. Like the character she's created, Ms. Koch brings the crazy-good times. It's one of my top recommendations for patrons and readers looking for fast-paced, fun, and hilarious action adventure.
Gini Koch does it again! This series is a take on aliens on Earth that I had not seen before. They are, in many ways, just like humans. The majority of them are pacifistic, interested in peace and good will but are overshadowed by those that are incredibly violent and 'take over the world' minded. We have seen with previous novels, which I'll say for new readers that all build on the previous ones, that there are a lot of megalomaniacal people in bound and determined to end existence as we know to create their own 'utopia' of evil. Kitty is the leader of our group that stands in their way and does it successfully without really meaning to do more than just save the people she loves. Its why she's successful, why she often turns bad people good and why she now has four or five titles on Earth and is in charge of so much.
In Aliens Abroad, once again Kitty and her people are thrown into a situation they in no way caused but are willing to step up the plate and see where life takes them. It was really fun to follow the journey they are on, cruising the galaxy on multiple tasks to save the solar system as we know it. Ms. Koch must have had a REALLY fun time creating worlds and galaxies for them to visit and ultimately save. And I must agree with Kitty that the Clown Consortium galaxy is NOT one that I would like to visit!
So much is happening in this book that it's hard to describe, but all of it was fun, detailed and served the ultimate purpose of fixing past wrongs and setting up for future good. One thing I've never seen Ms. Koch do though is end a book in the middle of the trip. These novels are usually started and ended with Kitty summing up some of what happened before and telling readers about how things settled after all of the action was over. This one ends after many worlds and galaxies have been saved but still in the middle of the space voyage we find ourselves on. It was startling to realize that the book was over! Not that it wasn't long and wonderful though! Happy reading!!!
