Im not sure why this review did not come up from 2017
This was a light easy sexy read. with the right amount of humour. I liked the way that the story started and feel that this set the tone for the whole book..
The best part of this book was Gucci the goat! I loved this crazy funny pigmy goat and her wardrobe! Apart from this, it’s a Hollywood story, with a hot bad boy and funny Ava, who broke his foot with a little lightweight car LOL.
The day the book starts, Ava was just fired from her job. Just days prior, she had broken up with her boyfriend, but that was no big loss. And as of the next day, she was also going to be homeless. Seemed like to much for a woman to take so she understandably broke up when she left her ex-job and got into her mini car. She gave reverse and felt a bump in the parking floor. Funny, she didn’t know there was a bump and looked and saw she had stepped on a guy!
Like the responsible person she is, she got out of the car and wow! It was Hollywood’s bad boy Gabriel Evans. Except he was no darling. Foul mouthed, sarcastic and annoying, they bickered all the way to the hospital, during their stay in the hospital and after he was released, all the way to his apartment, where she was going to watch for him. Since she was jobless, she offered to help him while he had the boot, as that was the least she could do. They kept up the insults, but it turned into a game they both enjoyed. Then comes the surprise of Gucci’s appearance. Since Ava was evicted from her apartment for having a goat, Gabe decided to accept the goat into his house. The goat was more entertaining than any animal, especially the morning Gucci decided to headbutt him for a while until Ava came to the rescue.
Gabe was Ava’s crush from the first time she saw one of his movies. After she saw how nasty he could be, she lost her crush. But as days go by, and she realized that beneath the crusty exterior lies a decent person, she starts to appreciate him. Likewise, Gabe likes that Ava gives as good as she gets and doesn’t take crap from him. Really, their dialogues sometimes seems like two six-year-olds bickering. They were very entertaining.
Things heat up and they get cozy. But then information from Gabe’s past comes up that could harm his reputation. Ava has friends who support her and they rally around her to help. Gabe is fast to get mad but also fast to get repentant. Ava has one big word to describe her: kind. She is kind, understanding, quirky and loves her goat like it was her family. This was an even-keeled book, where we don’t get angsty scenes that make you cry, but it’s a very entertaining book about two crazy persons who are perfect for each other, together with the fantastic Gucci. And the smexy scenes were crazy good too!
Breaking Hollywood is a snarky, witty, sexy romance. Ava aka Speedy is having a really bad day. She's just been fired from her wardrobe job at a studio, she's about to be homeless, and in the midst of crying while driving, she somehow manages to run over and break Gabriel Evans' foot. Yes, Gabriel Evans, the hot movie star that Ava has had a crush on forever. But, Ava being the sweetheart that she is, drives the grumpy, downright rude, crude, egotistical ass to the hospital so his younger brother can get Gabriel's foot looked at. When Tate (the brother) tells Gabriel he'll need someone to care for him for 6-8 weeks, Ava offers, but Gabriel being the ass that he is, turns her down in a really mean way, and Ava walks off. Surprise, surprise, Gabriel has a heart somewhere deep inside him, and realizes just how mean he was being, and takes Ava up on her offer to care for him for the next few months.
How the heck is Ava going to control herself around her favorite actor? Well, considering what an ass he is, it shouldn't be too hard. But when he actually displays some humanity and offers for her to live with him when he finds out she's homeless, and that he'll be paying her to take care of him?! Yeah, Ava's a goner.
Throw in the cutest pet ever, a pygmy goat named Gucci (Gucci!!), Ava's pet/family, and you have a cute cast of characters destined for you to fall in love with. But, it won't be all cute pygmies and hearts, because like I said, Gabriel's an ass. He is one throughout the entire story. And Ava's kind of a doormat for him. A sweet, funny doormat, but a doormat nonetheless. It was frustrating when the inevitable big blowup happened, and Ava just took Gabriel back with no groveling from him whatsoever, no grand gesture, nothing. I wanted her to make him work for it the way he should have, deserved to have. I'm talking, shopping trips, spa days, diamonds and chocolates kind of groveling. But, Ava's far sweeter than I, and Gabriel got off lucky.
Still, Breaking Hollywood is snarky and funny and sexy, and that darn goat got me in every scene she stole. If I can't let my heart be melted by a pygmy goat, then honestly I shouldn't be reading romance anyway. I can forgive Gabriel's ass ****** nature as long as the cute goat stays. And Vaughn and Charly are in it too (from Wardrobe Malfunction), so I couldn't give this less than 4 stars.
I haven’t read a book like this before and this is the first story I have read from this author
I really thoroughly loved this rom com, it was hilarious with so many quirky and laugh out loud moments!
The tension between Ava and Gabe was there, their arguments that seemed like a foreplay of sorts!!!
Their story was off the charts incredible, characters that gelled well, their emotions that came off the pages and as you read you feel them too!!
Brilliant story!! Can’t wait for more, at least I hope there will be more!
As a fan of Samantha Towle's writing, when I dig in to one of her books, I know I'm in for a great read. I adored Waldrobe Malfunction, her last rom-com so Breaking Hollywood was a book I was eagerly anticipating. Towle once again worked her magic, creating a hilarious and fun rom-com that will have readers laughing out loud throughout. The comedic dialogue between Gabe and Ava began from the very first scene of their meet-cute and it was obvious these two characters worked perfectly together. Gabe, Hollywood bad-boy actor extraordinaire and his acerbic wit were no match for Ava with her sharp-tongue and killer curves. Brought together under the wildest of circumstances, these two take every opportunity to go at each other, ratcheting up the sexual tension until they finally come to blows. And oh, what a delicious explosion it is! The heat these two generate is nuclear and their sexual chemistry is off-the-charts! The story is fun and cute but there are some secrets that are revealed in the second half of the book that lend more of an emotional depth to the story. I felt my heart breaking along with the characters as they dealt with the fallout from the bombshells that were revealed. Towle did an amazing job balancing it all out into yet another fabulous story. Add in an adorable pygmy goat named Gucci and this is one story you don't miss!!!!
My first and my last book by this author unfortunately. Plus I read only a few chapters because I couldn't stand the characters and their immaturity. I hated Gabriel, he was just incredibly self involved and a pig. That's all I can say.
This book was a laugh out loud romantic comedy that sucked me in right from the start.
Loved reading it, it put me in a great mood!
The characters bounced off each other effortlessly and kept me turning the pages.
Great story plot amongst two characters that so difference however fit so well together. Their journey of where they are today to fighting inner demons to accompolish success in a relationship, this story captured great home truths with inner demon moments. I loved their journey, along with their nicknames, even though it was over a short few weeks, their instance chemistry was portrayed across to readers so well! I loved it. It's another great series from Samantha!
Another great story from Samantha Towle and once again I hooked to Gabe's and Ava.
I was quickly hooked to the plot from the beginning. The characters were great I looked Ava and Gucci the goat who I think stole the book!!! Gabe was sexy and brooding and also frustrating at times. Some of the banter between Gabe and Ava was great and i couldn't help but laugh out loud. There were a few twists and turns in their story as secrets were exposed. It was great to see characters from a previous book turn up too. I really enjoyed this and recommend to all romance fans
Breaking Hollywood was a nice romantic comedy, with a lot of funny and awkward moments (my favorites). I also enjoyed the bickering between Gabe and Ava very much.
A few things though didn't work too well for me.
I didn't like Gabe's mood swings. There were a couple of occasions where he was a real heartless jerk. For some reason the otherwise smart heroine forgave him without much groveling on his part. I don't care if you suffered in the past, noone is entitled to being that nasty.
Also Gabe's secret annoyed me. Maybe it's because it was the second time this week that I read about the exact same "secret".
All in all a fun romance with a few turn off. The writing was good and there was never a dull moment.
Surprisingly this is my first Samantha Towle book, but it won't be my last -- super fun and sexy read! This author writes a very visual story without being overly descriptive -- I could "see" both Ava and Gabe and loved both characters from the first chapter. Interesting storyline as well - fun, flirty, steamy and sexy -- everything I want in a romantic comedy! Would definitely recommend if you like this genre.
Ava and Gabe just cracks me up. Samantha Towle knows what she’s doing.
P L O T
Fast paced and straight to the point. None of those background stories, setting preparations, we immediately met Ava who accidentally ran over Gabe with her car. From then on everything was flying. Nothing was dragging, nothing was too slow. I didn’t want to take reading breaks but considering my body condition, I need to rest but I had to choose a good place to stop in the story before I did.

I can’t say they’re three dimensional characters because I feel like there’s truly more to them if treated as human beings, but maybe it’s just my lack of observation because I was completely peaking over their shoulders from start to end. I was all about “what are they doing?” and “what’s going to happen next?”. They are quite predictable though, but people in real life can also be predictable especially in certain situations where there would only be two reactions they could give. However, I can honestly say that Ava and Gabe are meant for each other from the very beginning. They are each other’s match especially in their arguments.

My only concern was whenever Gabe and Ava left the apartment building, they were never met with paps. I’m not very familiar with the celebrity world, but I was thinking that maybe a pap or two would be setting up a few blocks away from the garage exit of the building. Well maybe that was part of the security they offered, I don’t know. I guess what I’m trying to say is I wanted to see pap action, like they’d get disturbed by paparazzi. I like how the story was told in both of Ava and Gabe’s POV and how it wasn’t redundant. Like a single scene is told by one person only and it wouldn’t be repeated in the other’s POV. The story kept progressing with each shift of POV.
O V E R A L L
This is my first Samantha Towle book, it certainly wouldn’t be the last. I am jealous of Ava and Gabe’s relationship and their nonstop bickering which both know is only meant halfheartedly, though sometimes it hits a nerve but they’re very forgiving of each other. I also loved how this book ended. It just might be the best stand alone end I’ve read so far in my entire life. The conclusion was beyond satisfying, I wanted that one to happen, and that other one too, and I’m so glad I got them both!

SOOO ADORABLE & HILARIOUS
I've always been a fan of Hollywood Romances.
They're the next best thing to Rockstar Romances! (and I looooove those!☺)
This book was sooo amazing!
I started reading and I was instantly charmed by Ava and Gabe. They start out yelling and fighting and cursing and bickering. It's all this amazingly adorable foreplay. Only they don't know it yet.
Secretly they're both hugely attracted to the other - but Ava thinks he would never be interested in her. And Gabe thinks he would only want her for one night. He doesn't do serious. And he doesn't sleep around with people he works with - or with people working for him - like Ava now does.
But of course they can't keep their hands off each other for long. ☺
Of course not everything is hilarious and fun - there are some serious moments too. Gabe has some stuff in his past that we need to uncover and deal with.
I just loved reading this book. I finished it in one day!
I don't want to spoil any of the amazingly funny & adorable moments.
YOU HAVE TO READ IT!!!!
(Preferably not in public!!!☺☺☺)
And you might also want to go check out where your closest goat-dealers are!
I WANT ONE!!!!! NEEEEED ONE! MOM! HUBBY!! GET ME A PYGMY GOAT FOR CHRISTMAS!
BREAKING HOLLYWOOD was such an adorable & hilarious Hollywood romance.
Run to your nearest amazon for your own Gabe - this one is MINE!!! Gucci is mine too!!!!!
JANEANE
If you have read Ms Towle's book Wardrobe Malfunction (and if not, why not?) you have already met our protaganists Gabe and Ava. However, you do not need to have read it to read Breaking Hollywood.
From the first break to the last word, I was hooked on this book. I loved their bite and snark, and ohhhh the sexual tension between them is off. the. charts!
I was instantly charmed by Gabe and Ava - even through all the yelling and screaming at each other. You can't have that kind of passion - good or bad - without some kind of feelings, right?
And - fighting is foreplay!
And what lovely, delicious foreplay it is. From the beginning, I couldn't help be know these two would be perfect for each other, if they just let it happen.
It is sweet and sexy, however there is also some darkness and sadness thrown in for good measure - can't have it all easy!
Though at times I wanted to scream at our lovelies - especially Gabe - I just knew they would get their act together eventually.
Not going to lie though, he little scene stealer throughout the whole book is a pygmy goat. Now, I was only talking to friends the day before reading that I wanted a goat, and now that want has ramped right up.
If you don't go hunting for a pygmy goat before the end of this book, there is something wrong with you!!
I loved seeing Vaughan and Charly from Wardrobe Malfunction, a little glimpse to where there life is at.
And there are plenty of characters that I need to know more about **cough cough Julian and Tate**.
Please give me more, Ms Towle. I need more!
Can't wait so see what Ms Towle brings us next.
Not read much by this author before but this book has changed that. It’s well written with a good storyline and amazing characters that you can like and want them to get there HEA. Deserves more people to give this book ago and this author as she does write really good romances which you will enjoy to read and become to love. Would recommend
We're in Hollywood with Gabe and Ava.
We already met both in WARDROBE MALFUNCTION - but you don't have to have read that to understand this story. (You obviously should though. ☺)
Ava was just let go from her job.
As of tomorrow she'll be boyfriendless. Jobless. And homeless. She'll only have her little pet goat Gucci.
description
Enter Gabriel Evans. Hollywood superstar. Hottest guy on the planet.
description
She's always had a huge crush on the guy. But that stops when he opens his mouth and yells and curses at her ... nonstop.
Why would he curse at an innocent girl in the streets of Hollywood you ask?
Because she kinda drove over his foot with her car!
And now he has to wear a cast/boot thingy for six to eight weeks.
Good thing Ava doesn't have anything else to do with her life at the moment - she's moving in with Gabe to take care of him.
Fighting. Cursing. Yelling. Arguing.
Flirting. Fantasizing.
What will happen with Ava & Gabe (and Gucci)?
Will there be a HEA?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺

If I had to name some things I didn't like ... we have this typical misunderstanding/lie/drama thing that happens in so many books towards the middle or the end. It could've been prevented by just talking to each other or rather listening to the other, instead of getting mad and angry and breaking up or whatever they always do at that point. I wish I would one day find a book where there is such a thing and bam, the hero talks to the heroine and TOGETHER they try to find out what happend or who is working against them. It wasn't all that bad here - not at all - but I just don't like those unnecessary drama moments in books. Just thought I should mention it. But don't worry - they clear it up pretty fast!
Also - the book is set in America with American characters. The author is British and it shows on every page. Especially with those way over 20 AS's that I counted - if you know my reviews, you know I hate that. The AS that could and should be exchanged for a since or a because. It's such a British or legal thing. I HATE IT!!! No idea why it bothers me so much - it just does. But it doesn't stop the book from being an amazing Hollywood Romance!!! I'm just weird that way - no one else on the planet will be bothered by it! ☺
Also - goat Gucci totally makes up for it!!! I LOVED HER!!! ♥
4.5 Stars
Breaking Hollywood is Samantha Towle new Romantic Comedy and I had some real laugh out loud moments throughout this hilarious book and that's without the giggles I could not control.
Ava Simms is having the worst day of her life, she has lost her job, been dumped by her boyfriend and about to become homeless because of her pet Pygmy goat "Gucci". If that not enough she thinks she has just hit a really big speed hump in her smart car, in reality she has run over the foot of Hollywoods most eligible bachelor and thats when the fun and games begin....
This book has the perfect mix of romance, banter and moments that will have you giggling, I fell in love with the characters as well as the adorable Gucci, this is a book I will recommend to everyone who listens to me, if you want a story that leaves you smiling then this is a book you will want to one click. Great job Samantha Towle.
I haven't read Samantha Towle book in a while but right off the first few pages of this is hilarious. Seriously funny meet cute of the story. A bad day topped of by a cranky and cheeky encounter with one Gabriel Evans Hollywood actor extraordinaire. I had no expectation in this but that was just entertaining. But the chemistry is there right away and bickering.
This heroine Ava and her verbal rambling of sorts oh so inconvenient but just makes me lol. She did not take Gabe's shit and gave back as good as she got. Perhaps it's cause Gabe is so odd mix of arrogant stubborn and kid like that I wasn't annoyed at his antics. Made him more amusing, usually the movie star romance make me wary but I didn't feel it here. The sparring for Gabe and Ava is very much their thing and they love winding each other up adding to the tension.
Eventually that tension boils over. Making our hero go past his don't ni employees rule of dating. Gabe being more layered than I expected and flawed. His past isn't pretty and when it becomes up they either face it head on or it will cause a problem. Ah the conflicts of the famous and celebrity. With a cute pygmy goat everything can solved somehow right?
Breaking Hollywood makes for a hilarious and sexy entertaining read that's light and low angst. Lots of flirty and cute moments. I enjoyed this one however unlikely it maybe good escape read.
I have read several books by this author and I really enjoyed them, especially the "The Storm" series. So when I read the blurb for this new book , I knew I had to read it.
I am so glad I did, because this story was very entertaining. It was funny, sweet and very sexy. Just what I needed at the moment.
Apparently there is a book before this one, that I missed "Wardrobe Malfunction". Both of the MC's are introduced in that story. If you haven't read it, no worries, because this book can be read as a stand alone. I have no idea how idea how I missed it myself, but I will go back to read it... that's for sure ;)
Ava is having a day from hell. Her boyfriend has recently dumped her, she has just lost her job and got an eviction notice from her appartment, because of her pet (an awesome pygmy goat). To top it all off, she runs over the over the foot of Hollywood's famous badboy Gabe Evans.
These two had some awesome banter going on and especially the scene after she run over his foot had me in stitches !!
"I don't think that bone should be sticking up like that"
She is mortified that she run over the foot of her celebrity crush, but that doesn't mean she will just take anything he says to him, without a come back of her own.
When it becomes clear that Gabe's foot is broken in two places and has to be booted for six weeks, Ava offers her help in taking care of him...since that's the least she could do. But how long will both of them be able to hold back on their lust for each other ? Not long let me tell you !! When they gave in... my Ipad almost caught on fire !! Gabe is quite the dirty talker :P
"Come up here, baby. Sit on my face. I want to taste you." I want you to fuck my face, Ava. Go Wild."
Neither of them expected that one incident would change their lives forever.
Like I said, this book was light, funny and sweet. There is some drama/issue towards the end but it doesn't last long. For me this was a real "feel good" kinda book and it definitely got the job done, because I finished it with a smile on my face.
My reviews are posted on Dirty Books Obsession
Romance, love, angst and frustration, Breaking Hollywood brings all of this and more. Ava and Gabe are forced together in the most unlikely of situation and the story that followed had me hooked from beginning to end. I will be recommending this to readers
Samnatha Towle really let me down with this novel. I usually am a huge fan of her work, but this novel just fell flat for me. I felt like the whole story was rushed and the characters were highly underdeveloped. I've loved previous novels written by Samantha but this one I would definitely not recommend. If you're looking for a different book by her, there are plenty that will exceed your expectations when this one lets you down.
