What would you do if you found out your husband was unfaithful and money was no object? That's the situation Rainey Moore, a high powered attorney, finds herself in, and her "woman scorned" reaction launches her, albeit kicking and screaming at times, down a rabbit hole of personal discovery. Rainey is forced to come to terms with the fact that a happy life is not measured by a completed to-do list. She realizes that people, herself included, are far more complicated than that, and years of packing emotions and feelings away in a mental "treasure chest" can only lead to a massive personal meltdown.
As a reader, I would have enjoyed being able to have some perspective from Rainey's husband and the other primary characters, I appreciated the fast pace of Kennedy's dialogue; however, I would have appreciated more description during certain points. This is a character-driven novel and the pace at which the story moves feels almost manic at times.
This book would be great to bring along on a weekend getaway or to pick up the next time you find yourself just needing a little escape. Thank you to Crown Publishing for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I grabbed this one off Netgalley as a whim, and it was a bit of a roller coaster. A high-powered attorney learns that her husband is cheating on her, and the reaction is one equally of scorched earth and self-discovery. She has to balance her work and her kids and the expectations surrounding her life while also dealing with the obvious, and she effectively balances on a knife’s edge for much of the story. I think this was a fun read on a whole, and when it was working well, it worked really well. It was both realistic and unrealistic, which was a bit of a problem for me as I really wanted the story to just lean in on one direction or the other, but it was an ultimately minor flaw. Making an unlikeable protagonist both sympathetic and someone you can’t believe is doing what they’re doing is a tough one to accomplish, but Eliza Kennedy pulls it off in the end. This probably falls under the sort of women’s fiction/”chick lit” umbrella in a way, but it’s a little more substantive than the candy that the genre ultimately implies. It won’t be for everyone, but this absolutely worked for me on a whole.

It is challenging sometimes to find a creative, original novel. You can stop looking, because this book fits the bill! Raney Jane is an established attorney, who is devoted to her job and almost always comes out on top, until she finds her world crumbling after learning of her husband’s one night stand while away on a business trip. Raney does not let grass grow under her feet as she begins to unfurl her revenge on her husband. Then Raney sets out to answer the question: “Why do men cheat?” This leads to other questions and a whole bunch of crazy decisions and life changes, all well worth reading in this fast paced crazy story of what happens when you cross a highly intelligent and successful woman, whose eyes are not yet wide open.

This wasn't for me. At first, I was enjoying the revenge on her cheating husband but soon after it fell apart for me. It felt a little unbelievable and I found myself not rooting for her anymore. I think it was personal issue with the story as it was well written, not every book suits everyone.

Some books arrive in your life at the exact right moment. I loved how outrageously this woman lost and found herself.

Do you want to read for for fun? This is an absolutely fun chick-lit book. Our heroine Raney takes the reader on a tour of revenge and reconfiguration after she learns her husband has been cheating on her. She lives the fantasy of every woman who has ever lived through this. This fantasy comes complete with limitless funds and a brilliant career.

Raney manages to out-cheat her cheating husband, remake herself and find what might be love. Oh, she has also managed to raise 2 great children. If girls just wanna have fun, read this book!

Well, I finished the book. All I can say at this point is "what the hell did I just read?" . It's the story of Raney, great lawyer, great mother, great wife and friend. Raney's husband Aaron cheats on her and her life falls apart. Holy crap, does it ever fall apart!

Ramey goes from being a likable character to being someone so disputable that the story just didn't ring true for me. At times the writing was very witty but I never found this laugh out loud funny ( I might have grinned a couple of times). Certainly not a book for the prudes among us.
