This was a cute and quick lite read. I love how it's not angsty with unnecessary drama. Great storyline with very engaging characters. Perfect for a relaxing day.
Very well written. I had not read the first book in the series and I did not feel lost or that I had missed anything. The story is unique. The characters are well written and you can't help but love them. Definitely worth checking out.
This book was amazing. I really enjoyed this story. I was able to finish it in about two days because the storyline is that good. I would highly recommend this book!!!
At the end of The Negotiator I was super excited that Sawyer's brother was going to get his own story. It was pretty much told in the epilogue. I mean Hudson was fun loving, easy going, complete opposite of his brother. So, it sounded like it would be a win. However, The Charmer was a bit slow at the get go. I found myself a little detached from the story at times. Eventually, the story did pick up.
Anyway, we have Hudson Carlyle who is the charmer, but he also harbor's a secret from his family. He has a secret life that he promised his father he wouldn't do at all. So, he's living with the guilt of keeping the secret that he's a pretty awesome painter. Then we have Felicia Hartigan who has been mooning over her brother's best friend, and she feels this is the year to get him. Basically, Hudson decides to try to help her get the guy she wants, but secretly keep her to himself in the long run. Sounds like a fixin' of a good fun romantic comedy. However, it kind of comes up short for me. Like I said it took a little time to get into the story. I enjoyed Hudson, and for the first time in his life he's kind of at a lost when the girl doesn't fall to his feet. Felicia is has her mind single to the one man she longs for, but slowly realizes that he's not right for her. So, she's face with the challenge of trying to get the right man for her, but he's kind of dense about it. Granted, she did kept saying that she's after the other guy, so yeah I could see why he would be in disbelief.
Anyway, The Charmer was an okay read. It was cute in the ways of romantic comedies. There are some hot little scenes. However, I'm actually looking forward to reading Felicia's brother's best friend's book, now that one sounds promising, at least I hope it happens. Seriously, the two people can't stand one another. Anyway, Hudson and Felicia are adorable together once everything is said and done.

Loved it and always greAt to see Avery’s characters come to fruition!
A charming romantic comedy that will make you feel good and smile all day. I loved the whitty banter between Hudson and Felicia. The story line is well written and will keep you turning pages. I received this book as a gift this is the first I've read from this author but I look forward to reading more. I highly recommend and I voluntarily give this review.
This was a fun and quick read. The ant scientist was a little hard to get my head around but the romance was cute.
This book was kind of cute at times. I liked Felicia from the start, and Hudson grew on you. I read it all in one day, almost in one sitting, and I wouldn't mind checking out the rest of this series.
I loved this book. It was funny, sexy, and a well told story! This was my first book to read by Avery Flynn, and I will definitely be reading more of them!
I had only recently finished The Negotiator (featuring the older Carlyle brother, Sawyer) when I found out that there'd be a second Harbor City book with Hudson. I fell so hard for the first story that I was beyond ecstatic to keep that feeling going!
Hudson has spent his adult life honing his carefree, ladies man persona. With an older brother who's successfully steering the family business, he can afford to be the one who takes life a little less seriously. At least that's what he wants others to think so that he can continue to hide his true passion. Then along comes Felicia, a scientist who's consumed with researching ants. Hudson is bowled over by this petite and slightly awkward researcher and can't stop thinking of her. As luck would have it she's secretly in love with someone else who happens to be kind of a mutual friend (it's complicated) and going against his better judgment, he offers to help her get his attention. It's the only way he can think of to be near her and possibly change her mind. Those silly kids. The plan simply drives him crazy and the same goes for Felicia.
Oh my god. This book was so funny! I loved Hudson's reaction when Felicia snubbed him so hard in the beginning - definitely not something he's used to. The guy is charming, there's no doubt about it. His slight cockiness is tempered by his wicked humour. He knows his audience and he plays it up for them, but it's Felicia's initial cluelessness that's pretty funny. She's so intent on her prize that she doesn't realize there's a guy who's crazy about her right in front of her. Like with The Negotiator, The Charmer doesn't have its hero steamroll its heroine. Even though Felicia has agreed to this plan of Hudson's, and has agreed to follow his advice, she's adamant that she not change anything that's intrinsically true to her nature which makes her all the more appealing to him. And once again, Flynn knows how to set up a steamy rendezvous or two - and there are a few that'll make you blush - before they figure out what exactly is happening between them.
If you read The Negotiator and enjoyed it, you will also love The Charmer which has a more playful, flirty vibe that will reel you in. It also has bad ant puns, ant paraphernalia and a mewling escape artist cat. I am so grateful to Avery Flynn for introducing us to the Carlyle men and the headstrong women in their lives!

I loved the negotiator so this book was a must read for me. It did not disappoint
This book was so damn funny. I have not had the pleasure of reading this author prior but boy am I glad I stumbled upon her. Read this book!!
I really enjoyed this book. It was the first I have read by Avery Flynn, and I hadn't realized it was the second in the series until I had already started, but it wasn't necessary to have read The Negotiator beforehand (I will go back and read it now, though).
This was a fun, romantic comedy that kept a smile on my face. I really loved Hudson, and felt the chemistry between him and Felicia.
This was definitely worth the read!
The plot of the book itself was great. Unfortunately my review is mostly based on it being written in the 3rd person point of view. I haven't read this author before and books in the 3rd person are not my cup of tea. I find it hard to read and to keep up in the storyline.
Hudson meets Felicia at a benefit that he takes his mom to, they "The Carlyle family" are among the richest of the rich and elite in Harbor City and every knows them in town and at the Harbor City Museum of Natural History. They came to a benefit to gain funds to keep Felicia's job and her Ant Display that features the "Honeypot Ant". Hudson see's her immediately and notices the terrible dress she chose to wear, but regardless of her dress and style that she is also beautiful. He can't understand why his eyes keep being drawn to her, but his mom catches on rather quickly and he tells her its nothing, just a look. Then they talk about his brother Sawyer and his wife Clover whome are in the first book of this series, and his former best friend Tyler and later known as Captain Clueless! His mom tells Hudson he needs to fix the broken relationship that happened when Tyler's fiancé went to Sawyers and took all her clothes off and tried to get in his bed, Sawyers sent her packing but a Big Issue still remained between the two that had been best friends since well forever. Hudson doesn't understand why its his job to fix but his mom smiles and just tells him to use "his charm" and he will figure out a way...but for some reason the young lady in black that knows nothing about wealth and everything about Honeypot Ants keeps his attention, he knows he has to meet her.
And meet her he does, he goes to the Museum the next day to try and figure out why his first charms at the benefit didn't work well with her it actually made her run, and that had never happened, his charming self and winning smile and good looks always wins the ladies, but he finds out she has been in Love the with Tyler whom was her neighbor growing up and hung out with her brother well for a long time and she had been pining for him forever, he was on her bucket list, to make him notice her before she turned 30. Hudson after a few trips to figure out Felicia finds all this out,, he decides it will be his way in to woo her and get her out of his system as she just continues to draw him in with her non interest for him but everything for Captain Clueless whom she says has Never noticed her....Hudson will fix this and in the process fix his brothers broken relationship with Captain Clueless!
So now the story begins, the story is weaved around making Felicia come out of her shell so Tyler might notice her but also gets Hudson A LOT of time with Felicia and the more they get to know each other the more things they learn. Felicia isn't the meek appearing Ant girl in glasses but a hot sexy woman that has Hudson can't get enough of not her of him. Hudson just knows he needs more and it will work itself out of his system and in turn this will get her much closer to showing Tyler the woman she is and well of course Hudson learns more and more who she truly is, In All ways this is why Tyler gets the name Captain Clueless because Hudson cant stop thinking about her or being with her and he knows that Tyler is crazy so the two continue to plot plans but as they do secrets about Hudson and the Carlyle family come out, secrets even Hudson whom is harboring a HUGE Secret didn't even know about.
I think Avery Flynn did a phenomenal job in her character build up, the story has lots of laughs and Hot Sex but more importantly that regardless of the world you live in you can build relationships with ALL sorts of people, there is no right or wrong. Its a story that is believable in all realities because of how all of these peoples worlds collided, the relationships, the different incomes and even the secrets all played an important and good role in the storyline. It might have been drug out a bit but its still a very good book. I would def refer it to a friend. It is exactly in the right Category of a HOT Romantic Comedy!
I thank Avery Flynn, Entangled: Amara and NetGalley for giving me an Advanced Copy for my honest review, I loved and I think many more will as well. The Charmer was Charmed!
Charmer is an evenly paced contemporary romance novel with fun characters. However, I just couldn't get into the characters lives all that much. I wasn't really interested in the heroine as she seemed kind of wishy-washy for a girl who's supposed to be very smart. Maybe that's how she's written but I just didn't connect with her as I like to do with main characters in books. The hero, Hudson was a bit more likable and once again, maybe it was just how he was written. He was witty and fun and although I didn't feel any "charms" coming off of him, in the end his actions did endear to me.
The ending was okay, and I won't give any spoilers here but it was happy enough for those involved.
I enjoyed this nice little easy read romance. The characters were fun, the plot moved along, and the writing was good. I will go back and read the first (didn't realize it was a series book...) because I enjoyed this one. Fun!
This book was so cute and fun. Loved the characters and the story line.
Hudson is what his family call the Charmer , but he is really a world know painter ( his family doesn't know ) Felicia loves Ants oh and she studies them :D SHE thinks she wants Tyler but he doesn't see her that way ( they've been friends they whole lives pretty much ) Hudson wants HER ( well to paint her and well maybe get her out of his system ) He says he will help her get Tyler's attention ( even tho he doesn't want Tyler to see her that way ) In exchange she helps him fix the rift between Sawyer ( Hudsons brother ) and Tyler.....come along on this sometimes HOT ride with lots of "Lessons " as these two learn their way to being true to themselves you will be glad you did
