Closer to You kicks off Jill Sanders new Haven, Montana series involving the McGowan brothers. Tyler McGowan takes over as the head of the family business after their beloved father passes away. Kristin is 100% city girl and is sent to the small country town of Haven, Montana by her boss to convince the McGowans to sell out.

This book drew me in from the start and kept me guessing until the very end. There was a definite spark between Tyler and Kristin from the time they first met but they were determined to keep it professional. Once they finally gave in however, the heat rolled off the pages.

Overall this was a nice start to a new series and I cannot wait to read more about the McGowan brothers.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley.

After his fathers death, Tyler finds himself running the family oil business with his brothers in their small town of Haven, Montana. Kristen, a city girl in designer clothes has been sent by her employers to convince Tyler to sell his company.
Sparks are instant between Tyler and Kristen, but their business relation does not let them give in to their attraction.
Closer to you was a complete entertainer,
Strong characters, drama, action, suspense and a close family. I enjoyed reading Closer to you and look forward to reading more in the series.

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
An enjoyable sweet romantic novel with a strong storyline and some intrigue. The characters are well developed and I really liked the strong family bond between the brothers.
I hope that there will be more books in the series.

Let me preface by saying that I have read a couple of books by Ms. Sanders, and I feel in this one she has shown her growth as a very talented author.
The story centers around Tyler McGowan and Kristen Howell. Tyler is one of three brothers whose father’s sudden death, brings him back to Montana and in charge of McGowan Enterprises. Kristen , a city gal, is sent to Haven, Montana, by JB Holdings, to convince him and his family to sell. Needless to say, that even as these two clash, the attraction between them is palpable.
The plot is complex, the suspense and bad guys intriguing, and the romance and characters , very well developed. You are kept guessing as to who is the one causing the vandalism. It’s a story that is plausible with individuals who are flawed . Loved that the McGowan’s were honorable men and respectful of their Mother and that the author gives us strong women in her storyline.
Looking forward to more stories in this series. I see Trent’s and Trey’s stories, in the horizon.
I was gifted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Overall a good story, and the first of three of which I plan on reading the others as well. The story focuses around three brothers in Montana, and this is Tyler, the oldest brother, story with the sexy Kirsten. She is sent, from corporate, to try to buy out their oil field business, with no luck. Naturally, the spark is there and a romance ensues. A lot of shadows swirling around, with plenty of red herrings thrown in which made it hard to know who was doing what: protesters, nasty relatives, sneaky workers from competitors, and even sleazy strippers. Dragged a bit in the middle, and at times a little confusing keeping track of who was who, but other than that I really liked this story and highly recommend this series.

LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED

OMG the opening scene when Tyler first meets Kristen just had me dying! I could 100% picture how the entire conversation went down. At about half way through the book, I was convinced I knew exactly who had done "it" and the reason why. I thought the rest of the book was just going to drag out the story and that the end wouldn't surprise me.

Little did I know!

The person I thought who did it, didn't. I even had a back up person...yeah they didn't do it either. I appreciated the realistic response from the police department and the reality of our judicial system including it's faults.

Loved the slow burn of things between Kristen and Tyler; how they fought the attraction and their own feelings straight until the end.

Hoping for another book about one of the other brothers!

Kristen steps off the plane in Montana and she isn't ready for the weather or man who literally picks her up. Tyler sees a fancy woman dressed in the most inappropriate clothes for Montana and knows she is trouble. Kristen is there to get his family to sell their business and they will not sell it under any circumstances. Kristen's boss is insistent that she get them to sell at any cost. She is wondering why and questions why she is still working for her company. She is a city girl and the country has never seemed appealing to her, but there is something about Haven, Montana. Tyler realizes that Kristen is the one for him, but would she be able to live in the middle of nowhere Montana?

Another brilliant story from Jill. I loved this as much as I love all of Jill Sanders books.
Bring on the next instalment.
The three McGowan brothers, Tyler, Trent and Trey have taken over the family’s oil business in Haven, Montana after the death of their father.
Kristen has been sent by her employer to convince them to sell, but finds them not liable to sell the business, no matter what they are offered.
Why are Kristen’s employers so desperate to buy the family company and keep increasing their offer? Is there something else going on?
The sparks flying between Tyler and Kristen begin as soon as they meet, but there are problems from the very start. There are saboteurs and family secrets become known.
This must go to the top of your reading list immediately.

Closer to You was awesome. I love Jill's writing and this series so far. Tyler the reformed playboy and Kristen the corporate climber lock horns over his family's company. She was sent to buy it. He's not selling. Compelling characters, awesome storyline, and plot, with a twist and a fabulous ending. I love everything Jill has written!

I totally loved this book! Tyler is one of three brothers running the oil company their father built and striving to do things the way he wanted. That includes not selling out and running as safe an operation as possible. Then Kristen is sent by her employer to convince them to sell. Kristen shows up dressed in her designer clothes and shoes and woefully inappropriate for the Montana winter.

Sparks start to fly between Kristen and Tyler almost immediately, along with an untraditional alliance. This has lead to an engaging contemporary romance that fans of the genre will love. I'm already to looking forward to the other brothers' stories. Put this one at the top of your TBR list, you'll be glad you did.

3.5 Seeing What is Before Your Eyes Stars
* * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
Sometimes you have to step away from your home and experience something different to see what is really important to you. Jill Sanders' new series about the McGowan Family of Haven, Montana examines this idea.

The set up is simple; The McGowan family consists of 3 grown sons and the mother. Their father recently passed a few months ago and all of them are adjusting to life without him. It is important to know this was a solid family with happy childhoods. The father was a gentle yet very strong man who invented a way to drill for oil/gas that was safer, cleaner and faster than the traditional way. Now with his passing, the sons have come back from where they were...all around the country... and have stepped into their fathers boots to keep the company rolling.

In this entry, the main focus is on the eldest, Tyler. He worked with his dad growing up... seeing how the dad negotiated with protesters or strikes over the years. The father would not be combative; instead he would listen, share food and drinks, talk about common goals and then work things out.

The loss of the dad made all of the sons re-evaluate and the answer became clear... they were going to keep the company going, settle in, look out for mom and appreciate the land and life they had.

After a few months of adjustment, the sons started to do well in their new positions. Tyler, who never thought he was the one who would head up the company, became the solid rock of the team. He took care of the day to day meetings and the acquiring of new business. Each brother had their own expertise; it all fell together and worked.

Their success started other companies wanting to buy them out. Each time they turned the offers down.

Kristen Howell has worked hard to scale the corporate good ole' boys ladder of her company. She has put her head down and focused on each project to completion. It has allowed her to grow and prosper. Her lifestyle has reflected all of her success. She owned her apartment, decorated it with all the pieces that meant something to her. Her wardrobe is made up of all the designers many dream about. She has worked hard for her position and enjoyed the perks that filled her life.

But right now...Kristen wished her designer clothes and boots were as warn as they were stylish...because she may look fantastic...but her poofy, white fur trimmed boots did not keep her feet from going numb while she waited for the expected ride to pick her up from her flight.

She looked all around and didn't see a town car in sight...

All she saw was a man lumbering towards her in the flannel shirt and flack jacket uniform of Montana. He was tall and ruggedly good looking...and called out to her. He directed her to his beat up old truck and had the nerve to throw her precious luggage in the back of the open truck bed!

Kristen didn't know what to make of this man... she was there in Haven to meet the owner or head of McGowan. Her company, JB Holdings, had a fail proof offer and if....no when, she closed the deal, she should be further up the career ladder.

Tyler watched this woman in his truck as he drove. She was striking and beautiful. He also thought all of her fancy clothes were useless against this Montana weather. Tyler had an internal chuckle when Kristen mentioned she needed him to make sure she got to the McGowan office on time and not take the long way around.

When Tyler got Kristen to the only hotel in Haven, he got out of the truck and brought her luggage to her room's door. She asked his name in order to thank him for driving her. Tyler tipped his hat and introduced himself as Tyler McGowan with a smile. As he walked to the truck, he told her he was not interested in any offer, would never be and she really should just turn around and go back.

Well, that went well, Not.
No matter... Kristen wasn't a quitter.

Later that day, Kristen showed up at the office trailer the current work site. She met the long time secretary, parked herself in a chair and waited for Tyler to return. When he does, her perfume let him know who was waiting for him. As he walks into his office, Kristen follows him in.

Tyler knows she is determined but so is he. The family is not going to sell but that doesn't stop the mother from inviting Kristen to dinner that night, much to Tyler's dismay. Dinner is friendly and turns out to be a huge turning point. The mother asks point blank what Kristen's company wants with their company? Kristen cannot answer and tells them as much.... That is telling not only for the family but also for Kristen...

It becomes the focus of her time in Haven...besides the attraction both Tyler and her fight.

This story had many different threads running through it. There was the idea of figuring out where you feel is home and where you belong. There was some insight of how hard it can be a woman in a company that didn't appreciate her talent. There was also the romance between the both of them and giving into what felt right all along.

This was a solid read with most of it coming together by the end. There were a few pieces that were left hanging but over all full complete story. We have two other sons... so more books to come.

This is my first Jill Shalvis book and looks to be a start of a series. It stars Tyler who is running his dads company after his death. He runs it with his two other brothers. His company is in the oil business and he lives in a small one horse type of oil drilling town with one diner, one restaurant and lots of strip clubs.

His world is shaken up when city slicker, Kristen hits town for her comapny who is trying to buy his company even though he and his brothers don't want to sell. This book really is addicting. While the story does not sounds that exciting the author throws in lotsa things that keep you reading like why does the company want to buy the business so bad, and you fal hard for the characters.

I really enjoyed Tyler and Kristen and cannot wait to read more.

Closer to You captured my attention on page one and I could not put it down. A big city girl, Kristen travels to small town Montana for her job. In her designer shoes and expensive clothes, Kristen sticks out like a sore thumb and she cannot seem to talk the McGowan brothers into selling their oil business. Tyler has his hands full running his father's business but cannot stop falling for Kristen. For the first time in her life, Kristen begins to know what home feels like. With complex characters, the extra layers of mystery over the sale and sabotage just adds extra flavor to an already enjoyable plot. Fast paced and action packed, the story delivers an exciting and sweet HEA but leaves you hanging with the mystery behind the motives involved. My review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

A beautiful start to a new series. I love Jill Sanders writing. Closer to you was just an amazing read. Tyler is head of the McGowan oil business. It was wonderful to watch him change his life style when he needed to step up. The whole McGowan family is just amazing. I love how the brothers (Trey, Trent and Tyler) interact. Kristen is a fish out of water when she shows up in Montana. She seemed so out of place until she just seemed to fit right in seamlessly. I wasn't sure I was going to like Kristen all that much at the beginning just because she just seemed naïve about what her bosses expected out of her. She got stronger and realized what was happening and seemed to change overall as a person. She went from high end city lover to I can kick it in the country no problem. This was full of love, passion and some action. It's hot just where it needs to be. Tyler and Kristen just fit once they gave in. I love this book. I'm so hoping for more of the McGowan boys and I can't wait.

Closer to You is not only a romance, but a mystery as well. Kristin and Tyler began as adversaries, bur came to care foe one another as they became better acquainted. Parts of the mystery appear to have been solved, while other questions remain unresolved. I look forward to the next book in the series for the resolution!

What a fabulous book! The McGowan family are close knit, especially now that their father passed away and left them to run the family business. Tyler wasn't happy with that at first, but the three brothers are settling into their different roles. It hadn't been easy picking up the reins of the company, and it hadn't been doing too well, but that was beginning to change.

Kristen Howell had been working for JB Holding for a few years, and was quite happily climbing the corporate ladder with all her hard work. She couldn't believe it that she was being sent to the back of beyond with the instruction that she must get McGowan Enterprises to sell - and she had to stay there until she did, her progression within JB depended on it. How hard could it be? This is what she was good at.

What Kristen hadn't bargained for was a family as determined not to sell, as she was determined to try. It was not even a consideration in the eyes of the McGowans, no matter how hard she tried and no amount of money JB offered. There had to be more to this than meets the eye.

Two fabulous strong characters, in different ways to each other. A good mystery running through the story which keeps you guessing to nearly the very end.

What a fantastic start to a new series. I'm in love with the HOT McGowan brothers!!!

A wonderful small Montana town and a close knit family and family business. At first you won't think that Jimmy Choo wearing city girl Kristin and hot country boy Tyler would be any match but sparks fly between them and they can't resist the chemistry. Both are torn at the start between keeping it business and about acting on the sexual tension.

The sex scenes were well done and just the right amount to not take away from the story but add to it instead. I also enjoyed the mystery and suspense to the storyline that had me keep turning the pages until the end.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next instalment.
