If a heart is open to love it might appear!!!
The two people who just might need to fall in love and get a happily Ever After. Clayton and Caroline.
Clayton Davis loves knowing his younger siblings found the the loves he knows the deserve. Caroline would love to find her Happily ever after but safety keeps her closed off. Clay would love to have love as well but isn’t even looking. So ultimately that old Faith is going to have to step in a push these two in each other’s paths.
And oh does Harper Sloan end her Coming home series with a good ole love story.
I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.
This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
Thanks you Netgally for letting me read and review.
Author Blurb: As the eldest Davis, Clayton has always tried to lead by example. He takes his job as head of the family businesses seriously, making sure the farm and auto shop are running smoothly—along with keeping an eye on his brother and sister. For him, there's a time and place to let go of the control he holds with an iron grip. And with the way he grew up, coupled with disastrous end to his last relationship, he's just fine with his quiet, solitary life.
Most of the time.
What he hadn't counted on was cute, quirky, shy bookstore owner, Caroline Michaels. She's the proverbial woman next door—well, the next town over, that is. Caroline hasn't lived an easy life, but after escaping an abusive ex, she's finally living it for herself. The last thing she ever expected was a one-night stand with Clay Davis, a night she can't stop thinking about.
So when she falls on hard times and Clay comes out of nowhere to her rescue, she realizes just how impossible it'll be to stay away from him. Now all she has to do is convince him to live a little...
5 "BE BAD, SUGAR." STARS!
Cowboy Up is Clayton Davis' story. We first meet the dark and brooding cowboy in Lost Rider, book one in Harper's Coming Home Series. He's the eldest Davis and the protector of the family, but underneath that family man is one dirty talking swoon-worthy man!
I don't know where to begin to describe the beauty that is Clay. Clayton Davis is a God. He brings all the feels instantly, becoming a favorite of mine in a matter of minutes.
Now, Cowboy Up may have told the story of Clay, but Caroline Michaels stole the show! She's a bookworm at heart and from the very first page you know that Caroline is something special. She's all sweetness with a shy personality, but she's also a woman that's been hurt a lot throughout her life. Clay becomes her protector and her safety net. Their paths intertwine perfectly, especially since they're both escaping a painful past. Clay opens a whole new world of possibilities for Caroline, while she makes him see that it's okay to let go of his control, let go of the ruins, and just open up his heart.
Clay and Caroline ignited the pages with their powerful chemistry. You could feel it in waves. It gave me goosebumps. Oh sweet Moses, did Harper Sloan have this book nicely tucked in her sleeve. As they say, saving the best for last, indeed!
This book was everything. It had me smiling like a loon one moment and on the edge of my seat in a blink of an eye. That's the beauty of Harper Sloan's storytelling. Then we have that wonderful and powerful epilogue #sigh. It's probably one of my favorite epilogues I've ever read 😭😢😍 What a perfect ending, tying all the Davis' stories together as you witness their growth. It was evolving! It brought tears to my eyes. This might have been the end to this series, but I'm hoping Harper considers writing books for Lucy and Luke!!!! #Prettyplease
"I wasn't plannin' on you, baby, and I know you weren't plannin' on me, but sometimes what we need to finally feel whole is what we least expect."
My favorite brother!!!
Clayton, protective and super hot, of course, lives a lonely life. He is just interested in working with his horses.
And sweet Caroline, with an ugly past, shy and cute.
"I have felt more with you in the darkness that I've felt with anyone else in the light."
For me, the best book in this series. It was awesome to see a dark cowboy becoming a family man.
Wonderful end for this series.

Those who know me, know I love my Cowboys, Small Towns, Western reads. I will go for awhile and read all the Alpha Male Billionaires, all the Cute Meets with then the characters end up being in the He's My Boss thing or the Best Friend's Sister is Off Limits and then Bam a romance blooms. Love all of them...
But for some reason, I have a special place for all those Cowboys and the women who love them....
Which caused me to pick up Harper Sloan's Cowboy Up, (Coming Home, #3). Now I had not read the first two books. From my experience with this entry, I understand Clayton Davis, our main focus, was the eldest sibling. All of the other siblings had their own tales. I was able to follow along without any troubles.
Clayton Davis fits the mold of brooding, dark and closed off...works the land, looks out for his siblings and does the no long term relationship thing. He recently had a seriously bad scrap off with his last encounter and she is not playing by any of the agreed upon rules he had set out. He has since just been out there working the ranch, emotionally closed off for months and it has gotten a bit old. He is happy his siblings have found their women... but it also highlights how alone he is...
Caroline Michaels has had to fight her way out of a small town with a horrific mother, only to land in an abusive marriage. She survived that and with determination and support of close friends, she has come out the other end. She has built her life all over again with owning her bookstore. Things are turning around for her...
But her Ex still tracks down every new phone number and tonight he called her. This making Caroline needing something... but not knowing what...She goes to her friend's bar to settle her nerves. As she sits at the end, where the owner can look out for her, she sees a profile of the Mythical Man...
You know the one...that vision of Cowboy, black hat hiding most of the face.... chiseled jaw and lips just so...With her friend's warning to "Be Good" and the nod that this cowboy is "Ok" to look out for her, Caroline comments she doesn't know how to anything but...wouldn't know how to be bad even if she wanted to....
Which leads to our cowboy saying he could show her how....To Be Bad....
Caroling shocked yet feels this is just what she should do after being good has gotten her no where...
A few shots later, Caroline and this man Davis...are in the motel across the way from the bar doing the bad...real good.
He asked and she said no lights...and so in the still of the night, cloaked in darkness...this Davis showed this woman what being bad was all about...The experience hit like a ton of bricks...left a huge imprint on the both of them equally. The cowboy is gone in the morning leaving Caroline thinking it was better that way.
Months pass and neither one of them try to figure out how to reconnect. Both thinking to just let it go. Then an event has them confronting each other as who they are...Clayton Davis... 5 years older than Caroline... her secret crush from high school....
This time... the desire and chemistry is too much... even stoic Clayton decides he is going to explore
this pull he has for Caroline... and primarily that is the main focus of this tale.
There is the added layer of dealing with small town issues, her crappy mother and ugly ex's on both sides. There is also happy times for both of Clayton siblings.
All of this was well and good but the interesting and more gritty introduction at the bar and what followed....trailed off into a more emotional, continual mentioning of feelings and declarations- especially from Clayton...
Now the good was this couple didn't play games or pretend. They communicated - which was great. I just had a hard time relating how Clayton expressed his devotion to the stoic, dark cowboy presented in the beginning ...His emotions would go over the top when it came to Caroline... but he would be able to be more realistic when counseling his brothers.
Caroline was a winner in this. She pulled herself through her own personal fire and rose up to be strong and able to take on anything. With the support of her friends and Clayton, she became the woman she always wanted to be... and with Clayton everything fell into place.
For those who have enjoyed the first to books of this series, I am sure you will fall hard for Clayton and Caroline. If you love an emotional journey with a Cowboy and his true love...then this is for you.
A gifted copy was provided by Pocket Books via NetGalley for an honest review.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and I was excited to read it. I didn't really like the first book in the series all that much but the second was better and Clayton was a character I liked from the get go. This book was just too much though- too many sweeping declarations, too many scenes where everyone was crying, way too much about what was going on in everybody's pants, too many crazy exes. It was all over the top and annoying and too insta-lovey for me. Even the epilogue had me rolling my eyes. Not for me.
What a fantastic story. I couldn’t seem to put it down. Caroline and Clay had me hooked right from the beginning. I felt this book was very well written, and the characters had depth, which is one of the things I enjoy most about books. Harper amazes me every time!!!
arc given by Netgally for honest review.
I have read all of the books in this series. I think this is my favorite. Clayton was just HOTT DAMN!! Super sexy Dark cowboy.. I loved everything about him.. and Carolyn.. I loved her to pieces..
The Hell these two when thru in the past.. I felt for them. This is such a amazing read.. rollercoaster of a ride..
I know this is the end for this series.. but I would LOVE to see maybe a 2nd gen Hell or even a crossover to one of the other series..
Thank you for the beautiful read.. I loved every moment!
I enjoyed this book, although I haven't read the first two books in the series, but I was still able to keep up and figure out who some of the other characters were without feeling lost. Without knowing the personalities of Clayton's brothers, I was still able to deduce that Clayton is the serious one in the family, But learning what I did about his childhood and the woman who broke his heart, it was easy to see why he's so serious.
A wonderful end to a beautiful series.
Clay has always been a bit of an enigma while reading this series. The quiet broody one in background for much of the goings on. As such it was difficult to predict where this book would go. I have to say it did not disappoint in any way at all.
Cowboy Up is deliciously sexy, toe curling-ly hot, with a huge side serving of sweet to alongside it.
If i could give it 6 stars, I would!

Another amazing story by Harper!
Clayton has always looked after his family, they and their families ranch are the most important things to him. He has had one serious girlfriend and when that ended badly he vowed never to let himself be in that situation again….until he meets Caroline.
Caroline has not had an easy life, her mother never treated her very well and she attached herself to the first boy to pay her any attention and he ended up being worse than her mother. When she finally manages to get away from him and things are going well, disaster happens and she loses the one thing she loves, but she also meets a dark cowboy who seems to lighten up her life a little.
After one night together Caroline and Clayton don’t see each other for a few weeks, when they are thrown back together at Clayton’s sisters baby shower, he decides he cannot let her get away again.
Their journey is not easy and people will try to break them apart, can they overcome this and their pasts and get the happily ever after they both thought they would never get?
"I have never been kissed so thoroughly. This is the kind of kiss that sets the bar for any that might follow. The kind that shows you everything you've been missing and everything you never knew you wanted."
"We all have ugly in our past, sweetness. You just have to realize it was really life teachin' you a lesson. When you find something that finally proves all that ugly was worth survivin', it doesn't look so bad when you see what kinda reward you get in the end."
"You keep givin' me the fire that burns inside that teacup, I"m gonna be fine waitin' for you to be ready to give me more, darlin'."
OMG! Talk about a sweet and oh so swoon worthy read! This book had me swooning from the moment I picked it up. I mean, there is just something about a mysterious and broody cowboy and a woman who is afraid to trust. Their instant connection had me hooked from page one and kept me begging for more.
Cowboy Up is the third book in Coming Home Series and follows the story of Clay and Caroline. Caroline is the sweet, shy woman next door. She has no clue just how amazing and beautiful she is. Caroline's life has been anything but easy. But, she is finally ready for a fresh start and a chance to live the life she always wanted. The one thing that Caroline didn't plan for was the mysterious stranger who was about to turn her life upside down....Clay has been dealt some pretty tough cards over the years. From the way he grew up to the woman who destroyed his heart....Clay is just a shell of a man. Broody. Serious. Way too hard working. That is until Caroline. Fate knew exactly what she was doing when she put Clay and Caroline together. They will be tested in many ways, but with the strong connection these two share, there is nothing they can't overcome....
Cowboy Up was the sweetest and most swoon-worthy story. I just adored Clay and Caroline together. The insta-romance with these two worked so well. I felt their connection and their feelings for one another. It felt real and I just loved the pull that they had for one another. I loved the things they brought out in one another. Clay giving Caroline a reason to trust and take the leap towards love. And Caroline shining her sweetness and goodness on Clay. Showing him just how amazing he is and just how wonderful love can be when you find the right person. I thought these two balanced each other out very well and boy did these two ever burn up the sheets together. They were one hot couple and I just loved it!
Cowboy Up was a terrific read from beginning to end. I loved the characters and the story-line. I thought the characters were easy to relate to and I couldn't help but want to know more about them. I loved the mystery and suspense that surrounded the story. I mean, you can't go wrong with a cowboy and a hint of danger! We also get to see quite a bit of the characters from previous stories, which I don't know about you, but I love seeing how all the stories come together and connect. That being said, I do believe that this story can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone--fair warning though, there will be spoilers for the previous books.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick and easy read for me. It was a great second chance romance that I just loved getting lost in. This book delivered all the goodness that I have come to love and enjoy from author Harper Sloan. I laughed. I swooned--boy did I ever swoon. I got caught up in the suspense. And I fell totally in love. In the end, I was left with one big, silly smile on my face.
I absolutely loved this book! I have to say that Clayton Davis's story was most definitely worth the wait and although I enjoyed the other 2 books very much, dare I say this is by far my favorite! Harper Sloan truly outdid herself on this one. I adore Clayton and Caroline so much!! These two people couldn't have been more right for each other and the way they heal each other and love each other is quite something. This book was so emotionally on point that it could have come with directions like queue laughter, queue tears, queue heartache, etc. because I definitely felt EVERYTHING while I was reading this book and in my opinion, that is such a testament to the writing.
The epilogue was just amazing and I love when an author gives us what she did at the end of this wonderful story. 5 stars hardly seem like enough.
I was lucky to receive an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
4.5 Stars!!!
Yesssssss, I have been excited to get Clayton Davis’s story since this addictive series started. Knowing Clayton is such a fantastic brother, I just knew he would make a fabulous boyfriend to one lucky lady...right!?!!?!
Caroline Michaels went to her best friend’s bar to have a drink and let loose. Little did the she know that the very handsome, Clayton Davis would notice her immediately and cause sparks so huge they could be fireworks! Ultimately, the two have a no-strings-attached night that was supposed to a one time thing...well sometime plans change!!!! Wowzer!!!
I always get so wrapped up in Harper Sloans novels!!! I swear I started this book in the morning and couldn’t put it down until I finished!!! I absolutely loved Clayton prior to Cowboy Up and I am so happy to report that I love him even more now! I found Caroline completely endearing and thought she would be the PERFECT match for Clay if they both could get past their painful romantic pasts! I thought Harper Sloan did a fantastic job with blending the characters from the previous books in this series (which I loved) with the new characters from Cowboy Up. I highly recommend this 4.5 star gem and I am eagerly awaiting to read whatever Harper Sloan comes out with next!!!!
Just a perfect ending to the series. Lots of feel good moments in this one. A bit of suspense and a whole lot of lovin". Great to see the whole family together and supporting each other. LOVED the epilogue! Great writing. Great characters. Great romance!

5 Cowboy Up Stars
Okay first off I have to admit that I did not read the first and second book in this series. I tried so hard to but I couldn’t get into them. I am a HUGE HUGE Harper Sloan fan. I’ve loved every book she has published. That being said it killed me that I couldn’t get into them. This one took some time but I loved it. As always with a Harper book you get love and you get some suspense. And in the end you get a happily ever after. I especially loved the end when she takes you on down the road to see how all the Davis family is doing.
Such a great story, the last and oldest of the Davis brothers Clayton. This puts the final touches on the stories of Maverick and Quinn.
Clayton seemingly the last hold out, too busy for a relationship and not interested after having a brief once around with a local and the damage she did to him. Add that to the baggage he had from growing up. But the man was busy; running the family ranch, involved with his brothers and their wives both pregnant and due one week apart. No, no time and no need for a woman.
Caroline left town as soon as she graduated from high school, fleeing an abusive mother, taking off with a boy friend who promised to get her away from all that and out from under her mothers abuse.
Only to turn around and inflict his own. Caroline is the girl who blends in, the one who never gets noticed and never has to worry about men hitting on her. She's shy and quiet. She comes back and opens her dream, a small bookstore in the next town over.
Bored one night she heads over to the next town to Hazels, which is a local bar. Her friends Luke and Lucy run the bar. They are her only friends and they're close. Luke parks Lucy in the corner on a stool that night and tells her to stay put. The man next to her strikes up a conversation and Caroline takes the plunge with him. Knowing him only as Davis. Since Luke calls her Carrie, Davis thinks that's her name, she hates the nickname. So the one night stand turns into much more when the girls go to a baby shower for Mavericks wife, and Clayton is there.
The twists and turns in this book were quick and a couple of "wow, didn't see that coming", when Caroline's ex and Clayton's ho make their appearance here and there. And damn this book was freaking over the top, "please pass the ice cubes" hot. I think Harper pulled out all the stops with Clayton and Caroline.
I loved the characters, the look back and Quinn and Maverick and how far they have come as a family along with Clayton and the epilogue is the ultimate. Oh how I wish they could clone Clayton.
Stellar story Harper!!
4.5 stars
**arc from NetGalley and Publisher in exchange for a fair review**
First and foremost - reviewing a contemporary is tough for me because it's not my favorite genre. If I give a book five stars it's because everything in it blew me away - and that rarely happens in a genre that frequently feels awkward to me. Still, I enjoy reading good contemporary romances, and I'm always looking for that perfect book that knocks me on my ass.
Shy Caroline is rebuilding her life after her awful mother and abusive boyfriend combined to nearly destroy her. Feeling wild one night she meets a cowboy who gives her the chance to let go. When Clay, her one-night-ride, pops back up in her life Caroline and he have to figure out if they're going to build on the intense sparks between them.
I loved - that Caroline and Clay didn't create their own drama. They were open honest and so incredibly sweet. Clay was alpha-cowboy while being respectful. And this book was LOADED with steam. If a confectionary sensual cowboy read is your cup of tea then, let me tell you, this book is gonna blow your socks off.
I didn't love all the sugar. These two were so schmoopy I wanted to gag them. Some of Clay's lines had my toes curling - and some of them had me wanting to roll me eyes right out of my skull. And alllllllllll the sex. I generally skim sex scenes in my romance reads - and this one had quite a few of them. Also, this book didn't have the most real feel - I feel bad for romance authors because I want realistic without reality. I'm not sure how they're supposed to deliver that, but I need it.
If you're looking to see a couple of salt-of-the-earth people who got shoveled a lot of shit finally find their good and revel in it then you should go for it with Cowboy Up.

Yay! After having read the stories of Maverick and Quinn, I was really looking forward to read about big brother Clayton. He has been the rock in the Davis family, so I was very excited to see that in the third instalment, he finally gets his girl. We also learn why Clayton stayed single for
Caroline is a very shy girl. The grey mouse, the bookworm, the girl next door. She has a very troubled past and has fled from an abusive husband. She has managed to setup a book store and she is happily living her solitary life. But even a happy single girl needs a night out. So when she has a one night stand with a dark sexy cowboy, she didn’t expect to meet the stranger at the baby shower of Quinn and Leigh. (Yep, they are not only still thick as thieves, but they managed to get pregnant together as well).
Clayton hadn’t been able to keep Carrie out of his mind either, but his reservations towards woman kept him from finding out who the mysterious girl from the bar was. But when they meet in full daylight, the attraction between them is even bigger. So they both decide to take a leap of faith and try dating.
In the meanwhile, some exes are not happy with the turn of events. And also Caroline’s past is catching up with her. Is there a relation to the fire in her book store? Or is this just circumstantial?
Find out in Cowboy Up from Harper Sloan. With of course the most hilarious comments of Quinn: “…my water broke five minutes ago and my vagina-poking husband seems to have totally forgotten his medical training. I think he even forgot how to breathe…”
With a laugh and a tear, you kind help but fall in love with the Davis family. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
The Davis siblings have gone through hell growing up, and it was because of the love they held for each other that they survived then and now. Together they can stand anything, especially their fears. From the time his ex broke his heart in the cruelest of ways, Clayton Davis decided that relationships weren't for him. Even if at times he craved what Quinn and Maverick had found, he still believed he was better off alone. That was until Caroline Michaels sat next to him in her best friend's bar and everything changed. Their connection was instant. Their night of passion became the standard for anything else that came their way. Caroline didn't know who her dark cowboy was until she bumped into him at Quinn's baby shower. She never expected that he would be the man she had crushed on all those years in high school, but one word out of his mouth and she just knew it. And then he saved her from the woman who had tormented her all her life. And she was a goner. Conquering fears and past demons were the least that Caroline and Clay did for each other. Together they found peace and happiness. But the past has a way of coming back to screw things up, and theirs was relentless in the shape of a mean mother and two crazy exes... Love Harper Sloan books. Just love them...
