Wow, what a stunning conclusion to this beautiful series!

Clay is the eldest Davis sibling, the one to hold the family together, the most dependable, their rock. He's the one whose story I've been looking forward to the most, and damn did he live up to my expectations! As his siblings have fallen in love, gotten married, and are expecting babies any day, Clay is starting to feel a bone deep loneliness, but he's fine with it. Or is he? He has his family. He has his ranch. He has his control. And that's all he really needs until he meets a beautiful woman and spends a night with her that he can't get out of his head even after. So he sets out to keep her when he finds her again. And keep her he does!

Caroline is a shy, somewhat quirky bookseller who's never really let herself go and have some fun since leaving her abusive past behind her. Until she meets a dark cowboy and spends a night with him, never really seeing his face. But when she's at Quinn and Leigh's baby shower after the night she can't get out of her mind, she recognizes the voice of her dark cowboy. Lo and behold it's the eldest Davis and he comes to her rescue when he mother tries to seek her out.

Gah, I LOVED Clay and Caroline together! They had this connection that isn't seen often. Heartrending, steamy and solid, so incredibly solid. They are magic together and I loved that Clay finally got the happiness he so deserved after taking care of his family for so long, being their rock, bearing the brunt of their parents' abusive behavior. I honestly never thought that an author could get me to love cowboys, but as soon as I started reading Leigh and Maverick's story, I became an instant fan and am an even bigger one after reading Clay and Caroline's beautiful, emotional story. Thank you Harper for the entire Davis clan's epic journey. And that epilogue? PERFECTION!!!

I wasn't sure who was ever going to win Clayton's heart, since Clayton was the person who kept this Davis family together. He was also the person didn''t think love was possible for him. However, the moment he met or re-met Caroline, his life changed.

Caroline 'Linney' hasn't had the greatest life and she's finally trying to move forward but her past his coming back to haunt her. Thankfully she has Clayton to help fight her battles. They may have started as an anonymous one night stand but then Caroline realizes that her dark cowboy is also her high school crush so when they get together it has an ease to it. Plus those Davis men, once they realize their love they go all in. And Clayton went all in and quickly with Caroline.

However, Caroline isn't the only one with past that is coming knocking.

I so hope we get more stories so we can find out more about Luke & Lucy. I loved both of those characters and would love to see whom they end up with.

This is the third book of the Coming Home series and can be read as a standalone but would greatly help if you have read the previous books featuring the other Davis siblings, Maverick the younger brother and Quinn the little sister.

We finally get to read Clayton’s story, the eldest of the Davis siblings, the dark and brooding cowboy who is allergic to commitments. He is the protective brother of Maverick and Quinn. Happy that his siblings have settled down and starting their own families, Clay seems happy enough for them but how is he coping? And then there is Caroline, owner of a bookstore who escaped from an abusive relationship, she’s coasting through life, wary and shies away from men. This pair’s first meeting starts with an unforgettable one night stand and it was meant to stay that way. Little do they know that they both have mutual friends and a few months later they meet again.

This contemporary romance is a wee bit slow at the beginning but quickly picks up the pace of the sizzling chemistry between the main characters. Reading about the other siblings Maverick and Leigh who are expecting a baby and Tate and Quinn the youngest sibling who is also expecting makes this book the perfect reunion for the whole family. As expected the author gave us very entertaining banter between the characters that made me giggle and laugh. Clayton’s words will sweep you off your feet. “There’ll never be a day that I don’t love you. Not one. I wasn’t plannin’ on you, baby, and I know you weren’t plannin’ on me, but sometimes what we need to finally feel whole is what we least expect. You are that for me.”

Caroline’s shyness stems from her mother’s verbal abuse when she was young. She ran away with her boyfriend at eighteen and she ends up in another abusive relationship, the lady needs someone to rescue her. She might be the independent lady she is now, she grew a backbone but a woman still needs her knight in shining armour. “You rode in on your white horse, knocked me on my butt, but saved me in the end. My knight in pressed flannel and Wranglers.”

Clay and Caroline’s story is a signature Harper Sloan cowboy romance. Clay is a dark and brooding alpha cowboy who is not afraid to show his emotions and cry. Then there is Caroline who started as a weak and shy heroine and later on is empowered by her man’s support and love and growing her own backbone as well. It looks like everything is hunky dory but then their exes resurface like bad pennies and the drama builds up. I love the epilogue in this book, the perfect finale to this fun-filled, heart-stopping epic romance involving the Davis siblings.

I am so in love with this series! I have to admit, this is the book I was most looking forward to. I love the quite, brooding alpha males and Clay fits that bill perfectly.

Clay has worked his life to build the ranch and protect his brother and sister. Seeing them happy is amazing, but when a hot and steamy night with a shy bookstore owner rocks him to the core, he can't ignore his feelings.

Caroline has seen her own hard times. Finally standing on her own two feet feels good. Pouring her energy into her bookstore, she has little time for anything else. A chance evening and a night with a stranger begins to change what it is she thinks she needs.

I loved Clay and Caroline. It was easy to root for both these characters and want them to end up happy. A hot and steamy romance with a beautiful story to give you all the feels, this book is amazing. I loved getting to still see Quinn and Maverick and how their lives are moving forward.

I loved this series and was sad to see it end. If you are looking for a series to dive into and give you all the feels, this is worth the read.

Cowboy Up by Harper Sloan is the third and final book in the Coming Home series. After reading the first two books, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Clay’s story. I needed to see how Clay would develop this it was everything I was hoping it would be-and so much more! Ms. Sloan is a go to author for me and she NEVER disappoints. In Cowboy Up, Ms. Sloan makes you fall in love with both of the characters. She is able to spin a tale so beautiful and real that you feel like a part of the story.

Clay Davis is the oldest of the Davis clan. He is everything you’d want in an older brother. Protective, reliable, and will lend a hand whenever it’s needed. Running the family ranch and helping his siblings has left Clay with little to no time for himself-especially for relationships. One chance meeting changes everything. He was not expecting Caroline Michaels to turn his world upside down with just one night…

Caroline Michaels didn’t have it easy growing up. With an evil mother and a horrible boyfriend, her life has been like a soap opera. That all changes with one night with a dark cowboy…

I absolutely LOVED this book! It was the perfect ending to an amazing series. Clay and Caroline’s chemistry was explosive that you could actually feel it coming through the pages. It was well written, emotional, and the characters growth was evident throughout the entire book. While I’m sad to see the series ending I am so excited to see what Ms. Sloan comes up with next!!

Cowboy Up by Harper Sloan ~ 4 Stars
Cowboy Up is another standalone featuring the eldest of the Davis brothers.  Clayton is the eldest and most responsible one. He is serious, broody, and prefers to live a quiet life. That is until he met Caroline. Fresh of an abusive relationship, Caroline is determined to live for herself and if that is include a one-night stand with a hot sexy cowboy then so be it. When Clayton and Caroline first met, it was insta-lust at first sight for Caroline, but Clayton has deeper feelings for the quirky shy bookstore owner. I love the sweet relationship, the chemistry and the sexual tension between Clay and Caroline. I was a bit frustrated with Caroline and her back and forth indecisiveness but I get that is because she has not quite healed from her past. A but intense and drama at the … Over all though, it was a sweet, sexy, romantic, emotional love story. I love this Coming Home series and the Davis brothers. It was nice to catch up with the others from previous book. I am glad Clayton found his happily ever after.

The third and final book in the series, Cowboy Up was just as engaging as the previous two. This is Clayton's story and it is certainly a wonderful finale.

After an abusive relationship finally convinces Caroline to leave before she can't walk away, she finds herself sitting beside a dark cowboy and throws caution to the wind and has a one night stand with him. He is a faceless stranger to her but leaves her feeling totally confused and yearning for something she has never had, a loving relationship.

After reconnecting with her high school friends, she finds herself face to face with her dark cowboy and is shocked to realise he is one of her best friends brother and her secret crush from many years ago.

The attraction is explosive and Clayton realises after the first night with Caroline that she is everything he could ever want in a woman and life partner and even Caroline feels the same, her past comes back to her and Clayton's isn't far behind.

This book is a beautiful read and ties up all loose ends from the three books. It has many dramas in it but the characters are so good you are left feeling uplifted throughout and the ending is everything you would want.

Totally recommend this western series.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and give an honest recommendation.

Review: Ms. Sloan has a winner on her hands with the final book in the Coming Home trilogy.

Clayton Davis has had to take care of his siblings almost all of his life, especially after their mother abandoned them when they were young and their father was extremely abusive and a drunk. Even with all of the baggage that he carries, Clay is tough, loyal, and everything you could want in a man.

Caroline has had a tough life with her dysfunctional family and abusive ex. She’s looking forward to putting the past behind her and living her life on her terms.

What was supposed to be a one night stand turned out to be much more than either of them thought of. The chemistry between them is electric. What Caroline has been missing in her life she finds in Clay. And if Clayton Davis is good at one thing, it’s protecting those he loves fiercely. I loved watching them grow together.

It was nice to see Quinn and Tate and Leighton and Maverick again to catch up on what they’ve been doing.

Unlike the first two books in this trilogy, Cowboy Up is not a second chance book; Caroline and Clay meet for the first time in this book, while Quinn & Tate and Leighton & Maverick had known each other for years.

The Coming Home trilogy has earned a spot on my exclusive re-read shelf. It is most likely wishful thinking that sometime in the future Ms. Sloan will revisit the Davis family.

From the first book in Harper Sloan’s Coming Home series, I was completely drawn in by the Davis siblings and the damage done to them by their mother’s abandonment and their father’s less than stellar parenting. Somehow despite it all the three managed to grow up, become their own people, and still have a bond so strong even when one of them was gone for years and I think that was largely due to oldest brother Clay who was determined to shield his siblings and do his best to be there for them no matter what, even though he often feels he failed them. I knew his story was going to be a challenge, Clay has some skewed views on love and marriage, but Ms. Sloan outdid herself in Cowboy Up. She not only gave Clay the happily ever after he more than deserved, she ended this series giving readers everything they want and then just to make sure gave us a bit more. Clever, sassy, emotional, sexy, and completely engaging from the first word to the last Cowboy Up was a perfect romance and the best book in this series by far (and that’s saying something because the others were really good).

Anyone who reads my reviews knows how much I enjoy when a one night stand turns into more especially when they both assume that’s all it is, one night. After a telephone call from her ex sends her reeling Caroline (Linney) Michaels wants to forget and she wants to be a bit reckless so she heads to her one of her best friend’s bar and meets her dark cowboy. A few weeks later they meet again at a baby shower and she realizes that one night stand is the man she had a crush on as a teenager and her friend’s brother. The connection they had that night left them both feeling raw and a bit off balance, but both realize they aren’t going to waste the second chance they were given.

Watching the stoic, set in his ways Clay come completely undone by a woman was outstanding! From the first book it was obvious Clay had hardened his heart and with the exception of those he called family he didn’t let anyone get close. I admired Clay for the way he took care of his brother and sister and his love of the land that had been in their family for generations. It became evident early on that his protective streak now included Caroline. Despite Caroline’s mothers apathetic raising and escaping an abusive relationship, she is a strong, capable and savvy businesswoman. I loved these two together, Caroline helped Clay to soften and showed him it was okay to open up and share his past hurts and helped him to see that his brother and sister grew up to be good people thanks to him. Clay helped Caroline understand her worth, made her feel safe, and made her understand that none of what happened to her was her fault. There was a lot of mutual admiration and respect between them and when you add in their unparalleled attraction, it was obvious these two were made for one another. What I loved most about this book is that the conflict came from outside sources, these two were solid from the start and that never wavered; there was absolute trust and truth between them always.

While this was clearly a romance between Clay and Caroline, there are many scenes with Maverick and Leighton (from book 1), and Quinn and Tate (from book 2) and readers will no doubt appreciate not only catching up with these couples, but the many scenes between the three siblings as their lives continue to change. There were so many heartfelt and sentimental moments that brought tears to my eyes and loads of emotion.

I’ve been shouting this series praises from the beginning and author Harper Sloan ends it on an extremely high note with Cowboy Up.

Theres something that I absolutely love about stories that have a cowboy as the hero and Harper Sloan has done an amazing job with this character. This series has been such an enjoyable one and Ive like all the books in the series so far. But this would have to be my favourite.

All Clayton Davis wants is to run the family businesses and live his life in peace. But when he meets Caroline, Clayton realizes that there's more to life than the farm, the auto shop, his family, and random hookups.
This is the new start Caroline Michaels needs. Living close to her friends and having her own business. The last thing she wants is a man complicating her life. But everything changes when she meets Clayton.
Sparks fly between Clayton and Caroline and soon their casual relationship develops to something more intense. But someone is trying to tear them apart. Will their relationship withstand the obstacles ahead and the ghosts from their pasts?

I loved every page of Cowboy Up! Caroline and Clayton's story is beautiful and hooked me from the first page. Their romance is the perfect mix of drama, laughter, mystery, suspense, twists, and hot scenes.
I loved how they met! It developed from lust at first sight into love and I loved Caroline and Clayton's journey.

Clayton Davis loves is job and his family. He believes his life is complete. After all, his last relationship was a disaster and he doesn't want the complications a woman brings. But Caroline coming back into his life changes everything. Clayton is a stubborn and possessive man, but also very sweet and kind, very protective of those he loves. He made me swoon a lot!
Caroline Michaels has been through a lot. She had a complicated childhood and her ex-boyfriend hurt her a lot, making her swear men off. Now all she wants is to live peacefully with her best friends and work in her bookstore. She's your typical good girl, with a heart of gold, very sweet and kind, but she can be very sassy. Reconnecting with Clayton changes everything for her.

Cowboy Up is the perfect addition to the Coming Home series! Harper Sloan did a magnificent job with Clayton and Caroline's story. Her writing style is flawless and she makes it very easy to connect with this incredible story and these amazing characters. I can't wait to read more, especially Luke's and Lucy's stories!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third (and it seems the last) book in Harper Sloan's Coming Home series. While this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the first two and to read them in order. Each of these books build on each other, and the background information on secondary characters that you get from the first two only enhance the reading of this third book. However, if read alone, you will still come out loving the story about the oldest Davis sibling, Clayton and new character Caroline.

Clay and Caroline are complete opposites yet so similar, that when they meet, its a magnetic pull. Both have had difficult backgrounds that they've had to overcome, and yet when together its like all that is washed away and they are a new person. I love the banter and the dynamics between the two. Caroline starts out as this shy introvert and learns to come into her own as Clay brings out the confidence and strength that Caroline never knew she had. Clay is the oldest of three siblings, and while romantic relationship avert, he is used to being the caretaker and strength in his relationships. When the two are together, their strengths help to overcome their weaknesses. This is such a sweet story, with sexy love scenes and a bit of suspense when their pasts threaten their future as a couple.

I loved the first two books of this series, and I am glad to say that this one did not disappoint. There is what I see as an extra Epilogue at the end of this book, and to be honest I think that the author could have made it into a novella. I just loved reading about this whole family, and this extra tidbit was just not enough for me!

This was cuuuuuuute. A little too light on the conflict in the middle, which made the plot drag, but great writing and hot couple. Just a good feel-good kind of romance.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Lost Rider (Coming Home #1)
Kiss My Boots (Coming Home #2)

This is Caroline and Clayton’s story. Clayton does not do relationships. After his last one years ago, he just does not want to deal with one. When he meets Caroline in a bar he is out for one night but his one night has him thinking about her all the time. When he finally sees her again he knows he needs her for more then one night. After having one hot night with a cowboy Caroline goes through a rough patch. Now running to that cowboy again just might save her from facing her family. When he rescues her, she wonders what he is getting out of being with her. With danger putting them closer together will it try to take one of them out? What happens when an ex just can’t let go? Things are about to get messy. Can these two survive the danger surrounding them? Or are they about to lose everything?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

I was so happy to have this little beauty pop up on my kindle! I loved book one and two and fell in love with the oldest Davis sibling!

Clayton has watched his younger siblings find love and now they wait for it to happen to him! Clay isn’t exactly looking for the one, he has a lot of responsibilities resting on his shoulders! Then he meets Caroline!

Caroline has had a rough life too. Leaving her ex was hard but she has her two best friends to comfort her! She has a steamy night with Clay, and life changes for both of these two!

I hate giving spoilers for series, I try to avoid it so my reviews are super detailed or in-depth! I will say that this book does have some drama, but I feel it made the story better and it wasn’t unnecessary to the story!

I loved Caroline and Clay! I also loved getting to see the younger two Davis siblings as well! The chemistry was amazing between this hero and heroine and it was amazing to read!!

I loved the ending! I got the epilogue I want from books and it was amazing!!! I would 100% recommend this book!! One-Click approved!!

Cowboy Up is the third novel in Harper Sloan's Coming Home series but it's only the second one I've read, and I liked it more than the first book in the series, but some of the problems I had with Lost Rider are still present, the primary one being the issue of poor grammar and character confusion, and although there's been some improvement, it kept me from giving this novel more than 4 stars.

Told in alternating narration, we first meet Caroline, who is driving past the town of Pine Oak, where she was born and raised, and mulling over the past 12 years of her life, years in which the shy, quiet, bookish woman was used and abused by her ex, John, the man she left town with to get away from her abusive mother, stepping from the frying pan into the fire. When he became an abusive drunk, she got away from him, moved on with her life, and opened her dream bookstore, The Sequel. She's recently heard from her ex, after 5 years of zero contact, and she's troubled by the reason why, after all this time, he's trying to reconnect with her.

Rather than heading home, Caroline stops at a rather seedy local honky-tonk, owned by Luke, the brother of her friend, Lucy, who seats her at the bar, next to a tall, dark, sexy stranger, one who engages her in conversation, asks her what a good girl like her is doing in a place like this, and when she admits that perhaps she doesn't want to be good, we're off and running--to the nearest motel for some incredibly hot and graphic sex. He's gone by morning, and Caroline thinks it's a one and done, but she couldn't be more wrong, and we know these two will meet again--it happens two months later, and she finds that her tall, dark stranger is no stranger at all, he's Clayton Davis, her high school crush and her best friend's older brother.

Clayton hasn't had a great life either, he and his brothers had their own problems with abusive and negligent parents, and as soon as they were able, went their separate ways. The title of this series is about them finding each other again, reconnecting with each other, and building a family. The result of his upbringing left Clayton commitment phobic, and that feeling became engraved in stone when he became engaged to Jess, only to discover that she was using him because what she really wanted was his money, and despite his telling her he never wanted to father children, she tries to trick him by getting pregnant, thinking he'll marry her, and that was what ended their relationship, and soured him on romance and relationships for good, or so he thought, until he met Caroline, and couldn't deny the attraction and heat between them.

What I found so appealing about this novel and it's main characters is that there is absolutely no game playing between them, no relationship drama or angst, and no jealousy issues. These are two people who recognize early on that they've found something special in one another, which for this reader, was a refreshing change from the usual trust issues and misunderstandings that are far too common tropes in romance novels. Having said that, I did think that their many lovey-dovey moments and declarations were a bit much, but that was something I was willing to overlook because what this novel had in spades was heart. These characters and their families, are good people, who, despite the abuse in their pasts, have grown into strong, decent adults with deep emotional connections to one another. These are people who have each others' backs, and who will be there for each other when trouble arrives, and in this novel, it arrives in ways you'd least expect.

If you're looking for a hot read this one fits the bill, but I believe you'll be as drawn in by the characters and their warm relationships with one another as I was. This was a good, solid romantic read filled with genuine warmth, characters you'd love to know in real life, suspense, danger, and a bit of mystery, and I recommend it.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

Harper Sloan is always a one-click author for me. She always writes a good, consistent story and has characters that are easy to like. I think this book was my favorite of the Coming Home series. I was intrigued by the stoic older brother character through the other 2 books and I thought that the heroine was perfect for him in this book.

I enjoyed it a lot and found myself cheering for them to work things out. Great conclusion to the trio.
