I really applaud Gretchen Carlson for standing up and speaking out and really taking on this topic as her life’s work. And this book did have some great stories and pieces of advice. The reason I didn’t give it a higher rating is simply because she’s not a great writer. It was repetitive and didn’t flow well (she’d jump in and out of stories mid-chapter). Even so, it is a pretty quick and easy read, so it’s definitely worth giving a try.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy of this book.
Before you go and see movie Bombshell, please read Gretchen Carlson book. I love it it is absolutely great. She present how many sexual harassment is around us and what we can do about it.
this type of book is always so utterly frustrating and at the same time a it hopeful simply because of its topic and how hard especially some men make it for women in the work force no matter what the job might be and how horrible is it that we are still having to struggle with harassment?
this book was very well written and worth a read!
This is a self-help guide on sexual harassment, with anecdotes from real-life situations.
Thanks to the publisher for the ARC.
Gretchen Carlson has written a thoughtful, highly readable book that combines the personal experiences of countless women along with cutting edge research. It's hard to believe that the term "sexual harassment" didn't appear until the 1970's. Before that time, sexual harassment was just "business as usual." I thought the chapter on forced arbitration was especially compelling; I didn't realize that arbitration was a boon to the employers, not to the women who filed claims against their abusers. Well done, Gretchen!
