unfortunately, this one wasn't for me! I'm just not a fan of the author's writing and the characters! They weren't my style.
I reviewed this editorially for RT Book Reviews magazine
When life throws you for a loop, you do what you can to survive! I loved the eccentric characters in this book, and the premise of Wedding Planner turned Funeral Planner to Matchmaker.
This was not an intellectual read, but I read it knowing I was looking for some fun! And that's exactly what I found! As long as you recognize that the events and people are over the top, you will thoroughly enjoy this book.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars.

Fun. That is probably the best word for this story. It was predictable in some spots but it was funny and quirky and sweet at many, many more! This book did not require keeping track of too many characters or plot twists or conspiracy theories. Sometimes, you just need a book you can relax with and enjoy without using all of your brain power. That is this book. The characters developed nicely and the dialogue worked for me. The extra cast of characters were also quirky and contributed to the story line. They weren't a cast of characters you would expect to meet in real life but I wouldn't mind! They were interesting and, unless it's a series where each of the secondary characters is getting their own story, this is unusual. They weren't just window dressing to move the main characters along. They contributed to the story and had their own depth.

As is becoming the norm, every time I log into Netgalley to share a book review, I always end up downloading more books, no matter how big my TBR pile is. What can I say? There is always one that catches my eye. Case in point, this book by Eliza Daly. I have raved about Eliza's 'The Travel Mishaps of Caity Shaw' series on numerous occasions, of which she writes under the name Eliza Watson. As Eliza Daly she writes for Crimson Romance and her books are a little more sexy and romantic.
Cassidy Baldwin was the best wedding planner in Milwaukee, until the company she worked for used her as the scapegoat for a corporate scandal. Now she's stuck organizing over the top funerals for her best friend's family business. If she has to plan one more beer filled football party, she may just go crazy, but then the city's most eccentric philanthropist dies and while making sure everything is running smoothly at her funeral, Cassidy suddenly finds herself hired to fulfill the lady's dying wish: find her playboy nephew Ryan Mitchell a wife.
Ryan can't believe that his Aunt would throw him in the spotlight like this, when she knew that he prefers to stay out of it, but if he doesn't fulfill this wish, there is much more on the line than his pride. He can always get a divorce anyway, so he may as well just get it over and done with, but he's going to need some help. When he meets Cassidy and offers her money to help him, she's all too eager to take it. What is it with women and only wanting him for his money? Cassidy can't believe how unromantic and money hungry Ryan is, wanting to getting married as quick as possible so he can get his hands on his inheritance. Is it really all about the money or have Ryan and Cassidy got each other all mixed up? And what will happen when every girl Ryan meets doesn't match up to the one that's doing the matchmaking? Pick up 'Till Death Do Us Part' to find out!!
This was such a fun, unique read from Eliza! I cannot wait to read more from her as Eliza Daly. It was quirky, lighthearted and totally entertaining. All of the characters were so lovable that it made my 8 hour flight from England to America go by super quick. I couldn't put it down the whole way!
I felt like Ryan was very straight forward, he didn't take any nonsense yet underneath his 'playboy' demeanor he seemed like a normal guy, doing whatever it took to protect his family and those he loved. I fell for the Ryan away from the public eye. He was sexy, sweet and once he'd made his mind up on something - like his feelings for Cassidy - he didn't mess around. Such a great quality in a guy, don't you think? Cassidy herself was really cool. She was determined to get her life back on track and work hard to do so, I really respected that about her. Besides Ryan and Cassidy, there were a group of characters that seemed to steal the spotlight and they were the employees in Ryan's Aunts Mansion. They were crazy and completely odd but their hearts were in the right place. They offered so much humour to the book, as well as, gave it a wonderful family feel. They were brilliant.
I highly recommend 'Till Death Do Us Part' for an amusing read that will keep you engaged from start to finish!
Well, that was an entertaining reading. And it’s really fast-paced. It contains a touch of humour, as well. I loved all the characters, but specially Ryan’s staff, they are so peculiar and charming at the same time. The romance is a bit predictable but I really loved it.
This book had a fun premise and promised a new twist on the romance genre AND included quirky supporting characters, all of which I usually really like. Unfortunately, the whole thing fell flat for me. I didn't really care about the main characters or whether or not they got together. And instead of being lovable, he quirky supporting cast was just really annoying. I skimmed through most of this book so that I could honestly review it, but I was glad when it was over.
A big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First time reading this author. I rated this a 3.5. It's a unique story but totally unbelievable!! I did laugh and giggle but the connection between the main characters just didn't grab me. I will read her again as I want to see what other zany things she can imagine. That part I loved!! Well worth the read.
This is my first book by Eliza Daly.
What I liked:
The writing style
The characters
The humor
Standalone
HEA
I look forward to reading more from this author.
For me, this was just an ok read. From time to time it was funny and cute. B
What I miss was some stronger chemistry between Cassidy and Rayan. In a story, they share just a kiss and what happens in the cabana is left unwritten. They are well developed and interesting but I had the feeling it was more about an organization of the wedding and finding the right women for Rayan. The end is also super cute all in all I did enjoy reading the book.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Pretty cute, yet quirky, idea. I enjoyed this book with its twists and turns. There were times the humor felt a little forced but over all, cute read.
I actually liked this book a lot! The characters were quirky and funny. The story was interesting and fun. I received an advanced copy of this book for review, and would definitely recommend it to friends!
A cute, fun romp of a story, I was laughing from start to finish! This is not unusual for this author, as Eliza has been writing a series under Eliza Watson that is laugh-out-loud funny, with real-life issues and drama thrown into the mix. What I love most about this author’s writing is her ability to take reality and finagle it in such a way that makes you realize life isn’t all that bad. You can find the good in everything.
Cassidy Baldwin has officially made the transition from highly successful wedding planner to themed funeral organizer. After a scandal lands her in hot water at her previous company, she is forced out and blacklisted at all other wedding planner agencies. Now the only job she can get is planning football-themed funerals, complete with team colors painted on the deceased’s face. But when she plans a funeral for one of the wealthiest women in Milwaukee, she gets the opportunity of her career – planning the wedding of her playboy nephew, Ryan Mitchell. Once they find the bride, of course. While Cassidy is all about romance and finding Ryan his perfect match, Ryan just wants to get married so that his aunt’s inheritance doesn’t go to her family of adopted cats. Quick, meaningless wedding and a year later, divorce. That’s his plan. Too bad Cassidy has other ideas.
The real stars of this story were the cat lady aunt’s staff. Quirky, opinionated, and hysterical beyond words, the secondary characters shone in this comedy of errors. Both Cassidy and Ryan had pre-conceived notions of each other, which led to some interested butting of heads until they both realized the other was a kind, genuine person. While Ryan has a past that makes it hard for him to trust Cassidy, her consistent care towards the staff shows how different she is from the woman who broke his heart. If she broke his heart, it would be his fault for being stubborn and blind. Things get bit hairy later on in the story, when Ryan has some difficulty seeing what is there rather than what he expects to see. But the ending makes you fall in love all over again as he makes it up to Cassidy in the biggest possible way! Very romantic. I could definitely see this being a movie – Hallmark, get to calling this author before someone else snatches this book up.
I continue to love books written by this author, and I highly encourage all of you to check out any one of her books, either written by Eliza Daly or Eliza Watson. She is a master of writing, and I can’t say enough good things about her as a person and author.
Looking for something a little different after several weeks of re-reading some of my favorite high-intensity romantic suspense novels, I thought ’Til Death Do Us Part by Eliza Daly would be a fun palette cleanser to pick up. A mostly sweet, slow burning romance with a sense of humor, this book tickled my fancy. It may not be the romance I’d been seeking, but I found myself hooked pretty quickly. With a quirky cast of background characters, I just couldn’t put the book down. Instead, I find myself wanting to stop by for tea, coffee, and maybe even a confection or two.
I’m giving this book four out of five stars. It was a fun, well-edited read that I wouldn’t mind passing on to friends who need a smile. The one flaw I found was that I needed another chapter- even if it’s an epilogue (which I normally hate). I wanted to see how things went after the “yes” and I’m dying to know what Fiona’s hiding.
Cassidy is former wedding planner who was fired due to a scandal. Granted, she was only a scapegoat, but in the process, she lost her job, her reputation, and her fiancé. Now she’s living and working with friends as she plans themed funerals. A chance encounter with Ryan Mitchell, Milwaukee’s most eligible bachelor at his aunt’s funeral could be the opportunity of a lifetime.
Ryan is a financial guru, who has plenty of reasons to stay out of the limelight. He’s got plenty of secrets to keep, and most of them aren’t his own. Doing a The Dating Game type show, and marrying within six months of his aunt’s passing is going to be a nightmare. The fact that he has to do this to take care of his aunt’s beyond eccentric staff that have been his family since he was only eight will be difficult. There’s Charlie, the chauffer without a license; Charlotte, the meek housekeeper; Hector, the gardener with fake flowers; and Fiona, the overdramatic, Irish cook. Keeping the past at bay, both his and theirs may be the hardest thing of all. He’s given up pieces of himself to save them before, he can do it again. Hiring Cassidy to coordinate the madness of the repercussions of his aunt’s will is only the beginning.
I received a copy of ’Til Death Do Us Part by Eliza Daly from Adams Media—Crimson Romance via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun, quirky, fast romance read. Took me two days to read and it kept my interest the whole way through which can be a problem sometimes.
This book was so funny and original, I loved every aspect of it. The entire premise of this book was so original and after all this time it is so nice to read a book that just makes you laugh and say what did she do this time? A rich bachelor decides to try and fulfill his late aunts wishes to find a wife, but what he finds instead is a lot of unexpected complications and a whole lot of comedy and surprise feelings for the funeral planner. I loved this book. Thank you NetGalley and Eliza Daly for allowing me to read this ARC and write a honest review.
