A great read for fans of novels by Martina Cole and others similar.
I read this over a weekend and it's an easy read but none the less enjoyable for it.
Some dark, disturbing moments but no worse than many others I've read.
This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended
The hit by Anna Smith.
Rosie Gilmour is hot on the trail of a ring of baby-sellers and people-traffickers. The problem is, her main suspect is a dead man. Or is he?.
A brilliant read. Love this author. Read in one sitting. 5*.
Brilliantly gripping read. Couldn't put this down, read in a night. Rosie gilmour never disappoints in her pursuit of the evil she uncovers.
This is already the 9th book in the Rosie series, and boy, do I just love her. She is a kickarse journalist that doesn'[t fear going where she shouldn't.... even if its Romania! Well written, gripping, thrilling until the very last page. Recommended.
This being the 9th book in the Rosie Gilmour series, I have to say I have devoured and loved every single one and this one has been no different.
Scottish Journalist Rosie Gilmour is back in work but on shaky feet after her recent trauma suffered at the hands of Thomas Boag. Unfortunately, Rosie doesn't do taking it easy, or relaxing and when a new story comes in involving people smuggling in Romania, Rosie begs her boss to let her investigate.
Naturally she gets her long term friend and saviour, Adrian to help smooth the way and despite the radio silence between them lately, he is happy to help. As they uncover the horrors abroad, a case on the home front is linked to the same charity, whose director has been missing for some time.
I really hope this goes on forever, the characters are fantastic and the scrapes they manage to get themselves in are second to none. Rosie has a natural way of getting the most standoffish people to talk to her, and if that doesn't open doors, there's always Adrian's unique way of persuading people!!
Absolutely fantastic!!
Thank You Netgalley. This is the first book I have read by this author but it definitely wont be the last!! Cant wait to get my hands on another one!! A Gripping and faced paced thriller it was another all-nighter!!! A must read!!
I really love this Rosie Gilmour series. She's a great character and I really look forward to reading about her latest investigations. This was another great book, really believable and I love Anna Smith's writing, she really brings the characters and locations to life.
I have now caught up with this series of books, after recently doing a Rosie Binge.
I'm worried of repeating myself, but I really do like this series, I have enjoyed each and everyone. I will say (again) that these books really would be best enjoyed if read in order.
I love Anna's style of writing, she has a gift of dragging you into the story. Rosie now feels like a friend, albeit a fictional one. Have I just said that. I thought I'd stopped having imaginary friends years ago.
This story is no different to any other for Rosie, It's her story and she's going to get it and publish it at all costs. Often it does cost Rosie dearly, but that's what makes her such a likeable character.
Another brilliant, and interesting read from a very talented author.
An intricate thriller with lots of angles. An enterprising and intrepid reporter who braves all to chase her story.
This is the first book I've read by Anna Smith and I'm completely hooked. In fact I've just downloaded the other 8 books in the series. I usually don't like to start a series without reading in order however there were plenty of references to previous storylines so I didn't feel at a disadvantage at not reading the other books in the series.
I devoured it in one sitting, a fast paced, gritty thriller with lots of twists. An excellent read that I thoroughly recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for my advance copy in return for an honest review.
I am a huge fan of Anna Smith and love the Rosie Gilmour series. I was pleased to get stuck into book 9 although wan't entirely sure what to expect. This book felt like it had 2 clear parts and elements to the story even though they are intertwined. Rosie ends up making her usual hair raising type of trip this time to Romania on the hunt for the people responsible for stealing babies from Orphanages and then selling them on to unsuspecting buyers.
The other layer of the book deals with Helen Lewis who is on the run. As usual Rosie is in the thick of all of it. Not content with just 'getting the story' she manages to become part of it. For some reason the first half of the book was slower than Anna Smith's usual offerings but once the second half started it picked up the pace and was back on top form. There is plenty of action, chills and thrills and for some this may be seen as the end of an era for Rosie. I on the other hand think the ending was absolutely perfect.
I for one am thrilled at the ending solely because of Rosie's personal life and maybe things will work out and we may see Rosie in the future, just not quite in the same light. This was a cracking read, not my favourite of the series but another solid read. Anna Smith is a fantastic writer and I am thrilled she has a new 'Gangland style' thriller book out in March next year. This series has been one of my favourites and has cemented Smith as one of my favourite Authors. Fingers crossed I love her next book as much as I've loved this series. If you haven't read these books do yourself a favour and settle in with book 1, I promise you won't regret it!
this is the first book i've read by this author and i'd like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity of reading an advanced copy of The Hit in exchange for an honest review.
well what can i say this book has everything! it gripped me from the first page and i couldn't wait to find out the ending! the story covers murder, prostitution, baby-selling and people smuggling! Rosie Gilmour is an investigation editor for a scottish newspaper always on the look out for a new, big story! i believe this is the 9th book in the series and there is enough references to the past to make you want to read the back catalogue but not enough to stop you understanding the present storyline.
i would highly recommend this book.
This is the third book in the Rosie Gilmour series that I have read and Anna Smith provides another excellent story.
When accountant Alan Lewis goes missing no one thinks much of it until a local thug ends up dead in his flat in Glasgow. Rosie, a reporter, is given the chance of a story and what she finds is beyond belief. Alan was a director of a charity bringing aid to the people of Romania but it seems that the charity are heavily involved in the illegal adoption of babies and orphans and also human trafficking. Rosie, with the help of aid workers and colleagues brings the story into the open but in the process of doing so puts herself in danger.
This is a fast paced compelling book with lots of twists, Rosie is a great character who always goes that extra mile for her story whilst trying to stay within the boundaries of the law and keep herself and those involved with her investigations out of harm's way. An excellent book which I would recommend.
The 9th book in the Rosie Gilmour series by Anna Smith see's Rosie up against a gang who are selling babies and also people trafficking and it takes her and her usual sidekick Matt to Romania where she also meets up with her old friend Adrian to try and uncover the truth behind a charity whose accountant has also gone missing. As usual with this series of books Anna Smith once again delivers an excellent hard, gritty thriller that had me hooked from the first page, throw in Rosie's rocky love life with TJ back in Glasgow and the usual scrapes she gets into and this book is every bit as good as the previous 8 in this excellent series. If you're new to Rosie Gilmour buy all the book,if this is the genre you enjoy you will not be disappointed !
This is book 9 in the Rosie Gilmour series and it just keeps getting better with each book. Just when you think a series has delivered everything.....then Anna Smith packs a punch with this one. Compelling and well written from the first page, fans will not be disappointed by this book. I started reading this book with my breakfast and suffice to say, I was still engrossed by lunchtime! Rosie Gilmour is one of my all time favourite characters and Anna Smith is one of the best crime writers in Scotland. This episode sees Rosie involved with dodgy charities, murder, Romanian orphans and people trafficking. Start with book one in the series and you will not be disappointed. Thank you very much to Net Galley for my copy. I reviewed on Goodreads.
