I really liked this book as a less traditional reference tool! I thought the authors did a great job organizing books by topic and picking some great book ideas for YA and adult readers - such a great concept and a fun thing to pull out and inspire a new read.

Clever book... I think this has a place in every home, library and classroom. It's exciting to see a book of recommended books on so many subjects timely to all children pre-12th grade. Loved the one on acne! I don;t know how I missed Juno Dawson's book Spot the Difference, but I intend to locate a copy and read it. At any rate, name the childhood "illness":"D is For: dark, fear of"; "K is for know-it-all", "T is for tall" (too tall for one's age...really? Book is artfully arranged alphabetically by "illness!" which is sort of fun and makes sense. You look for the ill, and the titles of books are suggested for reading by child. Like I said, clever! Now where were books like this when I was growing up, or my daughter? It should even have an updating every 5 years or so to stay current. Great book! Kudos to Ella Berthoud and Susan Elderkin!

A beautiful version of the adult book with excellent illustrations to go with the text. A story to cure every ill you could imagine and I can see this being of real comfort to some children as well as a great way into reading some books they may not have considered. Beautiful.

A great book that classifies books by feeling. I love this way of finding books for reader's advisory. It captures the mood of books instead of just plotline which many readers want. Research shows that fiction reading grows empathy in a reader and using this book as a guide a reader can find books on topics she struggles with or would like to know more about.
I loved this inventive way of helping reader's connect with books.

Interesting little book. One can find inspiration and help through its pages. I wouldn’t buy that title personally, but I’d recommend it to certain customers.

Easily accessible and a phenomenal concept. Pretty inclusive of the range of children's issues, usually with several titles each. Not sure it would be on our shelf at home, but I think it would be a great resource to have in libraries and classrooms!

The story cure is a handy guide that collects suggestions for children/YA books.
Presenting recommendations grouped alphabetically by theme, it makes really easier for parents/teachers/librarians to find exactly the right book(s) to propose to their children/teens according to their interests/questions/challanges they are facing in that moment of their lives.
Of course, it's not an all-encompassing compendium and refers especially to English/American literature. It's good starting point, though.

This is a charming guide book to use when navigating the world of literature. I really like the A-Z format and how works are categorized under key words along with recommended readings for that section. The writers aptly created a conversational tone which gives "The Story Cure" a distinctive and approachable feel which makes it feel as though the reader is turning to a good friend for advice. It's comprehensive and easy to use for parents, children, youths, or any reader looking for their next read.

This is a great gathering of recommendations of books for children and young adults that are grouped alphabetically by theme. A great resource for grown ups, parents, librarians, teachers, or anyone with kids or teens in their lives.

The adult version of this book was not so much appreciated by me, it seemed a sort of blasphemy, but this child version is way better in my opinion and the books they enlist, are really interesting and I'm trying to find some of them, even if it's mostly directed to English/American public.
THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!
