I really enjoyed this mystery. Faith and her grandmas are fun as are the other characters. I read the first book in this series quite a while ago, so I had forgotten who was who. This makes me want to the others in the series. This one had a few twists in it so I didn't guess the murderer until the big reveal. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a fun escape.

have read. Christina Freeburn makes it quite easy to step into the middle of the series and understand the back of Faith, her family and friends. Faith has taken on the responsibility of working on creating a town scrap book for Eden’s Historical Society in conjunction with the renovations taking place at the Eden family mansion. The original first family of Eden vacated the town under mysterious circumstances and when a skeleton is unearthed during excavation work at the Eden mansion, Faith decides to dig into the history of the family and friends to solve what appears to be a murder. Of course, her fiancé, the local police detective, Ted is not too pleased with her involvement.
Faith must dig through dusty attics, boxes full of old pictures, diaries and letters to unearth the truth. There even is a hidden secret within the mansion that holds the key of what happened years ago.
A very enjoyable read that kept me turning the pages.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher, Henery Press, for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Faith is gathering historical information for a scrapbook that will be displayed in the historical museum. When she has an opportunity to visit a long abandoned home that had belonged to the first family in town, she's happy. She's sure she can find some cool things for her scrapbook. It's what the work crew finds that creates the most excitement, though. They've dug up a dead body...
Henery Press and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). It will be published November 28th.
Everything about this family is a secret. They left town suddenly. No one remembers much and no one volunteers anything. But a dead man means someone has to answer.
Her fiance is the local cop and he wants her to stay out of the case. She's still on the hunt for local history. She certainly doesn't expect to find what she does. Secret diaries, illegitimate children, more deaths, and secrets buried for years don't make your life easier. Especially when some of the people involved are crazy.
There's plenty of action, a messed up mystery, and surprises all around by the time the case has been closed. At least it looks like Faith and Ted are finally going to get to the altar. The next book should be even more fun.

I was given an arc of this book from Netgalley for an honest opinion. I did not finish the book because I could never really get into the plot or the characters. I'm sure this book will resonate with others, just not with me.

Secrets old and recurring slam together to keep the town in gossip for a long time coming.
The Everton Mansion sat empty and neglected for decades. After difficult and expensive decisions on what to do with it, repairs are going well until the discovery of a body brings things to a sudden halt. This happens to coincide with Faith researching the Evertons for a communty scrapbook project. A body only makes this more fascinating to her and she can not resist sticking her nose into the business of several long time resident families while trying not to cross the delicate line posed by her detective fiance and new part time boss, future brother-in-law, Bob. To complicate things, her grandmothers scrapbooking store may be in jeopady as well as the venue for Faith's wedding reception. Someone doesn't want secrets revealed and someone else wants them revealed only when they decide it is time.
Even if you have not read the wonderful previous books in this series, this plot is intriguing enough to make you stay up late reading. I wish I had started this book earlier in the day.
You might need your own whiteboard to keep track of the clues and how each is tie to and relates to the others. They all come together but Faith has her work cut out for her.

An intriguing cozy mystery. I occasionally had a slight problem identifying mothers and sons, but it quickly became apparent as to which ones had good intentions and those that did not. Lots of characters to track. Interesting idea of scrapbooking the town's history. Digging up a body set things in motion. Had to chuckle when going out to rent movies was mentioned. How quickly technology has changed things.

This was a delightful book, I am not a huge fan of the scrapbook craft, but this book made me want to start one. Great characters and the mystery lasted all the way to the end. I would highly recommend if.

Another winner in the 'Faith Hunter' series.
Scrapbooker Faith is drawn into an investigation of skeletal remains found on the Everton property while trying to finish the commissioned town's scrapbook.
Known for her crime solving skills, she makes someone very nervous.
She's been lied to, threatened and assaulted...finally nearly killed by someone who wants to keep information they think she has quiet.
Well written and quick moving, this is not to be missed by cozy mystery lovers. Fantastic read. I hated to put it down.
I requested and received an ARC from NetGalley and realized...I missed one. I'll fix that ASAP.

Faith Hunter, co-owner of Scrap This scrapbooking store (along with her two grandmothers) is preparing for her wedding to homicide Detective Ted Roget. She's also working on a town scrapbook, so has been busy. When one of her employees, Sierra Brodart, asks Faith if she can stop by her mother-in-law's home and pick up a box that might be useful to the project, Faith reluctantly agrees.
But while there, Georgia Brodart tells Faith that her late husband Edward was murdered, because he knew that Georgia was related to the Evertons and had a diary for proof. Faith at first believes she might just be having delusions, but when Georgia's son Hank shows up - Sierra's husband - and becomes angry that Faith is even there, she begins to wonder.
Meanwhile, the Buford brothers, Wayne and Wyatt, are renovating the Everton home for the town Historical Society. But while Faith is there to pick up items that might be useful to her project, one of their workers digs up a skull in the yard. After calling the police, it's determined that it's a crime scene and work has to stop. To make matters worse, Faith's ex-boyfriend Steve Davis shows up with a court order stopping work indefinitely because, as he tells them, the house has a potential heir.
It seems the Everton family picked up and left Eden almost a hundred years ago, and no one knows why. There were rumors, of course, and Faith, always curious by nature, isn't about to let something as an old skull stop her from getting to the truth. With the help of Wyatt, she's going to find out - if she can- who the bones might belong to, and who the rightful heir is. Georgia is claiming she is, and her sons Hank - who hates Faith - and Matthew agree. But Faith isn't so sure.
When Faith starts searching for the truth, things start heating up. The closer she gets to finding the answers she's looking for, the closer she gets to digging her own grave. And if she's not careful, it won't matter who the rightful heir is, because she won't be around to find out...
I absolutely loved this book. The plot was well thought out, well-written and intriguing. A nearly hundred-year-old mystery and old bones, both connected, both tied to the present day; it was done so well you really didn't even notice that there wasn't a present-day murder to solve until you finished the book. (Although there were a few close calls, of course).
Merging the past with the present has always been a favorite of mine in books; probably because I love history so much (even fictional history) and enjoy seeing it woven together in stories both real and imagined. This book brought those two together in a very pleasing way, and I think it is my favorite out of all the Faith Hunter books I've read.
Ms. Freeburn is indeed a talented writer who continues to give us an entertaining mystery to fill our time, and her books never disappoint. When the ending comes and the mystery is solved, it is twofold - for we know all along (for the most part) where most of the mystery lies; but the ending was satisfying all around. I look forward to the next in the series. Highly recommended.

A Cold Case Murder
Altered To Death is the sixth book in Christina Freeburn’s Faith Hunter Scrap This Mystery series. The storyline is well written, the characters are well developed, and the plot is complex. Twists and turns and suspects abound in this fast-paced book and I was completely at a loss as to the identity of the murderer until the final reveal.
Faith Hunter, who helps her grandmothers (Hope and Cheryl) with their scrapbooking store, Scrap This, in Eden, West Virginia, has been commissioned by the historical society to create a scrapbook documenting the town’s history. She never imagined the magnitude of photographs, letters, news articles, and diaries she would be inundated with and she discovers a wealth of secrets that people have worked hard to hide. The mystery surrounding the founding family, the Evertons, and why they left without a trace almost a hundred years ago and why no family members ever showed up to claim their property is intriguing to her. The Everton’s mansion has been abandoned since they left and the town has hired contractors to renovate and preserve it. Faith receives permission to visit the mansion to look for anything she can use in the scrapbook project. While she’s identifying boxes and other items to remove so she can thoroughly review them, the contractors uncover a skeleton in the backyard. Attorney Steve Davis, her ex-boyfriend, shows up while she’s there and demands everyone vacate the property and to return any items they’ve removed because he has filed papers with the court on behalf of an undisclosed person claiming the property is theirs. Faith’s curiosity gets the better of her and she starts snooping around, determined to find out why the Evertons left, whose skeleton was unearthed, and the identity of the person claiming to be the Everson’s heir. Faith’s fiancé, Detective Ted Roget, isn’t happy that she has involved herself once again in one of his investigations. Faith finds herself in the middle of things and puts her life in danger once again.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

Internet very expensive right now. Will write full review when I get home in January

I read the first book in this series at the start of the year and had some reservations but thought it had potential. So I came back to check in on the series six books in to seee how things have changed.
The plotting is definitely better and tighter in this one, and the running threads alongside the murder-of-the-week are slightly clearer and less cluttered, although the heroine is still clearly trying to do far too many things at once. I was pleased to see the love triangle I saw being (some what clumsily) set up in book one has been resolved (at least for now) and Faith's obviously worked through a lot of the issues in her past that were being set up in book one. However I was disappointed that the difficult co-worker relationship (precipitated by events of book 1) was still rumbling on. Faith has several too-stupid-to-live moments - and her evasions and lying to her fiancé the cop aren't written quite well enough that you don't want to give her a good talking too.
Better, but still exasperating in places. I liked it enough to be interested in how the wedding goes though...

Faith Hunter has been asked to make a scrapbook of the town's history. While gathering pictures and other memorabilia, she finds herself looking into the disappearance of a diary. A body is discovered, and Faith cannot not get involved, much to the annoyance of her fiancé, the town's Chief of police. A fun read in the Scrapbook series.

Altered to Death is the 6th book in the Faith Hunter Scrap This series.
I enjoy this series and Faith Hunter has become another favorite character.
Working with her grandmothers in their scrap book shop, Faith has taken on a huge task, working on a town scrapbook. The task is something Faith enjoys and when she encounters a strange request, Faith finds herself deep in another mystery.
Ted, Faith's fiance, a detective, is not to keen on having Faith involved in another investigation, especially when she becomes the target of a local resident.
Digging through old diaries and letters is something Faith loves to do, but when she discovers a secret that someone has worked hard to hide, she becomes a target, putting her directly in harm's path.
I liked all the details in this story. Ms. Freeburn wrote a well told tale, and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
Faith's relationship with her grandmothers is heartwarming and adds a sweet element to the book.
Readers will enjoy catching up with Faith and all the other characters in the fun cozy mystery. Grab your copy on November 28th!
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book provided by NetGalley and Henery Press.

While Faith is busy planning her wedding to Ted, she finds herself scrap booking a project for The Historical Society on its founding family and their mysterious disappearance afterwards. While renovations are needed there is a dead boy discovered on the property.
Soon her e boyfriend shows up and rumors that the house does not belong to the county as someone is suing for ownership. Faith finds herself in the middle of things which puts her life in danger again.
A quaint read for cozy lovers.

Faith Hunter is one busy woman: she is planning her wedding, spearheading a scrapbook project detailing Eden's town history, and investigating potential missing heirs of one of the town's founding families. And there are The skeletal remains that have been found at her reception site. All of these projects make for a fast-paced and hard to put down cozy mystery.
Even though there have been several Faith Hunter mysteries before Altered to Death, I was able to fully enjoy the story and appreciated the fleshed out characters. After reading Altered to Death, I am very interested in reading the previous Faith Hunter mysteries.

Faith has a lot on her mind. Planning a wedding, running Scrap This with her grandmother, deciding where to live when the groom comes complete with teen daughter. And yet she is determined to find out what happened to the Everton family and why they all left town never to return. Since she is already doing a scrapbook of the town's history, she has a lot of material to go through and when she finds the oldest Everton girl's diary, she sticks her pert little nose right in!
But a lot of people have secrets hidden in Eden. And they aren't above knocking off Faith or anyone else who gets in their way!
This was a book full of interesting and memorable characters. A mystery, a story of families and perceptions and long-held secrets.
Great Job!

An interesting story that deals with old friends and new enemies. Lots of twists and turns with a surprise ending. Greed plays a big part in this story. Glad times have changed even if greed has not.

Multi layered page turning cozy mystery
Christina Freeburn writes a multi faceted cozy in Altered in Death the 6th book in The Faith Hunter Scrap This Mystery series. While the mystery works well as a stand alone I felt at a little disadvantage with understanding a number of the relationships as I had not read the previous books. Nevertheless this was a very enjoyable read. There were many interesting twist and turns that kept me riveted to the book.
I received an advance reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

The latest addition to the Faith Hunter Scrap This Mystery series is intense from the very beginning. The mystery was taut, with slightly dark undertones that kept me in an edgy suspense mode throughout the book. Faith's relationships are engaging, and she is always real while she is struggling to be a better person. I sincerely hope there are more to this series as the resolution to this one seemed a little final. I want to spend more time with Faith, Ted and all of Eden.
