"The world had been theirs---until the world turned on them, and they turned on each other. It was so much easier blaming someone else than taking responsibility for your own pain."
"The eyes are the windows to the soul," he whispered. "And you've always owned mine."
"I'll always choose her." Even when it hurt. Even when he knew it could destroy them all over again. If they couldn't face their demons four years ago, then what the hell made him think they could face them now? Hope. And the face that he wasn't going to give up again.
"Words are easy, actions are hard."

The Bachelor Contract was an incredible read for me from beginning to end. The writing is absolutely flawless and the story-line just steals your heart. I was swept up in this story instantly and could not put it down. I have so many quotes, phrases and paragraphs highlighted. I don't want to forget a single word, or moment. This book and the characters are so real. Their emotions incredibly palpable. You can't help but FEEL. The characters are flawed, broken and utterly perfect. The pull is undeniable and the angst just pulls at your heart. And there is hope. Hope that despite how cruel life can be and despite how many demons you may have to fight, there is hope for a happy ending. Hope that true love will conquer everything.
Rachel Van Dyken has knocked it out of the park with this book, delivering another unforgettable and timeless romance. This book broke my heart and put tears in my eyes. It gave me much needed laughs and an undying love and appreciation for Grandma Nadine's antics--I will never get enough of that woman! I fell in love with the families and their interactions. I believed in second chances and a love that was worth fighting for. I fell head over heels. I swooned and in the end fell helplessly in love.
I am a huge RVD fan. That being said, this was not my favorite book of hers or even in this series. It wasn't bad but I wish it had been a little less heavy and a little more humorous.
’ve been a fan of Ms Van Dyken for some time now...as with all her books, this story hits the perfect balance of warmth, emotions, heartbreak, and best of all love and romance...with Brant and Nikki so vulnerable, it takes their hearts to find theirs love each other again.
Brant and Nikki’s story touch my heart through their struggles, suffering, and finding their way back to each other again...and best of all the love for each other that never died. The author has brought these characters to life through her creative method of bringing true emotions, they fairly leaped off the pages.
I was enthralled with the struggles that the pair experienced based on pushing each other away in the past when they needed each other to heal. The moments of heartbreak were especially poignant when their unborn baby son was involved in the story. Any parent would be touched deeply by this part of the story.
As always, I continue to seek out books by this author, her stories are well worth the wait.

Compellingly addictive with a passion that had me glued to my seat from start to finish. A story about heartbreak, pain and anger conquered by hope and infinite love. Oh the feels!!
I have loved the Bachelors of Arizona as individual standalone stories and a series. The dynamic between each couple and as a family has been unique and intriguing with secrets and pain and so much love necessary to heal beaten, battered hearts. For the past four years, Brandt’s life has been defined by pain, guilt and a necessity to numb all the ugly emotions that threatened to knock him down. I met him in book one but hadn’t a clue as to how deeply his feelings thundered within. But he let them loose, lashed out and I felt it.
The story begins in the present and has small glimpses from the past from which the reader can understand the incredible love he had for his wife and the events that led to the demise of their marriage and his complete misery. I won’t spoil you so let’s continue... From having everything, Brandt was left with nothing as his life was ruined by one too many tragedies. Choosing to anesthetize his feelings he had spent the last four years drowning in alcohol and faceless hookups.
But when Brandt refuses fulfill his bachelor contract and go out with his ex-wife who bought him for a date in a charity event, his meddling family presents him with a challenge he can’t refuse, unknowing that he’d be working side by side with the love of his life.
Nikki had no one after her split from Brandt, forced to get a job as a masseuse she made the resort’s employees her family and the sexy concierge became her best friend who tried to run interference when Brandt arrived, but there was only so much Cole could do before the these two broken halves of a single whole would come face to face and tackle the past and their mistakes.
As their walls slowly lower, we see how much they both suffered, how guilty and helpless Brandt felt and how his love for her has never diminished. My heart broke for both of them, for what they lost, for their time apart, but at the same time it delighted when they both realize that love can heal the rawest wounds and theirs is worth fighting for.
As lovely and heartfelt as this story was, I also need to mention that this wasn’t all heavy feelings. There were moments of fun and levity, mixed with flirty sexiness that balanced everything out. But yes, expect to lose your heart to Brandt and Nikki and their emotionally naked tale of second chances.
The Bachelor Contract is book #3 in the Bachelors in Arizona series by Rachel Van Dyken. It is a full length contemporary romance. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.
Never have I lost my heart as quickly as I have with Rachel Van Dyken's, Bachelors of Arizona series. Brock and Jane were the beginning of something wonderful. Bentley and Margot were the culmination of something special and Brant and Nikki were like a dance with destiny. The Bachelor Contract is as captivating as it is heartbreaking. What began as a beautiful romance, lost it's innocence and became a journey of pain, guilt and salvation. I have yet to piece my heart back together. Every author has a story that symbolizes the best of them and I think, The Bachelor Contract is Ms. Van Dyken's signature tale. The message is powerful, the hope is inspiring and the love story is everlasting.
I have been anxiously awaiting this book in the series. Brant is so tortured and such a mess that I kept wondering what his story was-we knew it had to do with his ex wife Nik, but nothing else.
This couple has really been thru the wringer. But to be honest, Nik has suffered the most-Brandt is an alcoholic because he chose to hide behind the bottle (and drugs and women) to avoid what he considered the results were from his actions. But it's Nik who is blind, who suffered the most loss and still picked herself up and went on.
I loved this story-there are some light moments but for the most part, it's a dark read. It will hurt at some parts to read about the loss they suffered, but it's a beautiful second chance at romance.
