I went through MY LADY'S CHOOSING and tried out three different versions of the story, and I absolutely loved every single one! I've always been a fan of "Choose Your Own Adventure" stories, and I love, love, LOVE romance, so this was right up my alley! I loved that it didn't take itself seriously and that the authors had so much fun with the genre and with various tropes/stories that they were inspired by. It was a blast to read and you could tell they had a lot of fun putting it all together!
I ended up buying the physical copy, which turned out to be easier to use than the ebook. There are so few adult choice books out there and to get one for romance is incredible, and this one didn't disappoint! There are so many different paths you can go on which leads to a high re-readability for this book.
I'm somewhat intrigued to go back and read other paths, but don't want to really have to start over and because of all the jumping, not really sure where to back track to to change paths.
Fun read though.
I ended in Egypt.
'Choose your own adventure style romance novel' would not have been my first go-to TBR book, but this was surprisingly really fun and well thought out. I liked that it wasn't straight up hetero-normative either. If you're in the mood for a light read that will sweep you to another time, this is it. Wish I read this on the beach, because this would be a GREAT beach read.
This book was very hard to read as an eBook. What I did read was enjoyable and will definitely be picking up a physical copy to restart and finish. But definitely worth mentioning it is not very marketable to the e-platform.
This book was a hoot! It's modeled on the "Choose Your Own Adventure" type of books with alternative plots.
It's a great sendup of romance conventions.
I had fun reading through every variation.
Highly recommend!
Lighthearted summer read - perfect for the beach and very cleverly written. Very funny, and aroused in places too. I liked the choose your own adventure as a very refreshing experience
I didn't really like this; I read it a few months ago and remember very little about it! I like the idea of a choose-your-own-adventure romance, but it took me about an hour to get through.
This was a really fun choose your own adventure and it got me back into reading romance. I read about 40 romance novels after finishing it right now.
RATING: 3.5 STARS

If you are/were a fan of choose your own adventures, this is the book for you. It has some fun scenarios that you get to somewhat choose the ending to. I just went through two scenarios and will have to try some more in the future.
***I received an eARC from NETGALLEY***
I loved this absolutely fun book! It's hilarious, the pace is wonderfully light and consuming, and it brought me back to romance reading after ages of wrinkling my nose and saying, "No thanks." More pick your own path books for grown-ups, please!
I love this concept so, so much! As a child, I devoured the Choose Your Own Adventure series and was so intrigued by this premise put into the romance genre. Unfortunately, the story just didn't hold me attention and I had to force myself to finish it in order to review it. I didn't even bother going back to try out the different story lines.
You might fight spies with a dashing rogue in Scotland. Or flirt with minor lords in ballrooms while defeating a con artist trying to claim the estate. Or even have a sapphic adventure in Egypt with a globe-trotting lady.
The story twists wildly through various genres, and romantic endings may come abruptly, but that’s the fun; every choice might be your happy ending. Even the ones that don’t sound good turn out well in creative ways. As needed for this type of book, the characters are mostly stereotypes, so you can grasp the situation quickly. The most surprising thing about any of them is when quiet guys turn out to be amazing at love-making.
Some of the endings are explicit. There’s nothing wrong with reading about a woman who really likes sex, but the language in such cases as “play[ing] a sensual symphony on his magic flute” or “slip[ping his hands] over your slick glen” made me cringe. And I don’t ever want to see again the phrase “a kiss so brazen it makes your sex drip sunlight” ick ick ick.
It’s a shame that the writing isn’t better, even in non-explicit cases. In one scene, you’re supposed to attract the handsome cousin through witty banter, but it’s not that sparkly. Still, most people won’t be paying attention, instead playing along to find out what happens next and what the choices are. There’s plenty of imagination in that area!
I remember reading choose your own adventure books when I was young and this book brought back that fun. I read through one adventure in My Lady's Choosing and will definitely go back and reread taking different routes. I was happy to be reading an actual book and not an eBook with all the flipping back and forth, but your mileage may vary.
I was able to complete my first read through in one evening (while the book is thick the stories are short...remember you have a bunch of options to choose from). The book definitely has a text based game vibe which I felt enhanced the story for me (would love to see these authors do some more interactive fiction or online games). I definitely recommend the book (and already have a couple of times today).
This was funny? I enjoyed it, at least, and felt it was (for the most part) a loving satire of the romance genre.
Unfortunately, I was unable to review this because of the format provided. I had so many issues and I followed the directions. I'm so sorry - i was so excited to read! I'm happy to promote any other way if another format is available.
Have you ever wanted to star in your own romance novel? Have you ever felt that you make better decisions than the main character? If you have answered yes to either of these questions, My Lady's Choosing is the perfect novel for you. My Lady's Choosing is an interactive choose-your-own-adventure story set in the eighteenth century. When reading this novel I felt as if I were in my very own Jane Austen novel. I did find the page flipping a little confusing (if you choose this path go to page so and so), but once I got the hang of it, I became immersed into creating my own love story adventure. My only critique is that the story felt a bit superficial to me. If this story didn't have the choose-your-own romance quality to it, the characters would have felt very two-dimensional and bland. Otherwise, this novel is a lot of fun and I would greatly recommend!
The premise of this book was promising. I enjoy "choose-you-own adventure" books and thought that one made for adults would be fun, but I was disappointed. I found the characters dry and uninteresting. I also felt like the plot moved too quickly with each decision that I made and I did not find any of the romances to be believable.
This was such a unique and fun format for a romance novel. I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books growing up and this twist on that genre was a blast. I've already re-read it and cheated by skipping around and it made me flash back to all those times I did the same growing up with my books. This was a fun change and I hope to see more books like it in the future.

Now I'll tell a bit about each of the versions that I tried out. :)
The first time I chose Captain Angus "Mac" McTaggart: the rugged, philanthropic red-headed Scot...who also happens to share many similarities with a well beloved character some people know as Jamie Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser...or Jamie Fraser if you've never read Outlander. Mac was definitely similar to Jamie in some ways, but he was also still uniquely Mac! He was wonderful and constantly had me swooning, and the story was super sweet! It also had a bit of mystery going on which was a lot of fun!
The second time I chose Sir Benedict Granville, the Mr. Darcy character of the bunch! He was a bit of a broody butthead when the story started, but I won him over with my....assets. We partook in some witty banter and hung out in some secluded alcoves. This version had some mystery, too, and quite a few of those alcoves/dark corners that I spoke of. I had a lot of fun with this one and I loved that this version of the story had a ball, card games, and witty banter...all the fixings of some of my favourite Austen novels!
And the third and final time that I ran through MY LADY'S CHOOSING, I chose Lord Craven, who was the Mr. Rochester of the bunch. This one was definitely the most ridiculous and outlandish out of all of the storylines that I chose, but it was super amusing! I also loved the commentary on my choices from the authors...even though they did call me a hussy. :P This one also had some mystery, but it mostly just went full on gothic and it gave me serious Northanger Abbey, Jane Eyre, and Wuthering Heights vibes. I loved it!
In addition to the three storylines that I tried out, there's also a storyline where you can choose to be a companion to your female friend in case anyone is looking to try out a same-sex relationship. The companion and Lord Craven storylines pop up during the Sir Benedict and Mac storylines, so if you're looking to play out either of them, make sure to keep your eyes peeled! :)
Overall, I had a blast reading through the various storylines of MY LADY'S CHOOSING. I loved that each one pulled inspiration from classics and popular stories, but that they still managed to be unique so that you were still left with surprises. I really enjoyed all of the storylines, but I have to admit that Mac's was definitely my favourite! :D
