Great read. The author wrote a story that was interesting and moved at a pace that kept me engaged. The characters were easy to invest in.
angsty college romance that hit in some places and missed me in others. I overall enjoyed and would read this author again.
This book reminded me so much of my first year in college. It was a cute story about how much you change in college as well as your first love. I would recommend this book and I can't wait to read the next in this series!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Abigail Strom for sending me a copy to review.
This is a 3.5 star book for me but I rounded to four stars because when I think back on the story the stuff I was not a fan of is not in my initial thoughts. This is a somewhat different NA book; it is the tone and the pacing I think. The reader is introduced to Rikki and Sam well before they end up in the same dorm at Hart University and the two have an understanding to keep their distance. The two end up with the same group of friends and essentially call a truce that blossoms into friendship and something more. Sam is adorable most of the time although he is not without his faults. Rikki is very smart and open; I am a big fan of how accepting and positive about and with other female characters. This is my first book by Strom so I don’t know if it is typical of her works to build you up and then disappoint in a way that you are unsure is salvageable but I will definitely read the next one.
Rikki and Sam know each other since high school. They were always competive with each other and there was a lot of animosity between them. However when Rikki wanted to get over with the first kiss deal, Sam was there and he gave her her first kiss. Though they try to keep distance their paths cross once again in Hart University and something changes. Initially they become more friendly and this leads them to either sleep sometimes in Sam’s room together, so that Rikki’s roommate can have their room alone, or spend more time together while Rikki models from Sam. Their desire flourish and their friendship takes a different path.
It’s been a while since the last time I’ve read something so fresh, pure and emotional. Abigail takes narration to another level. While reading the book I felt like I was the main character of the book feeling what she was feeling taking my back to an age of innocence, purity and need to understand and explorer one’s feelings, body needs and grow up.
I really loved this book. The author really set up a wonderful world : a bunch of people in the heart of a university with different characters, different needs. I just look forward to reading the next book in the series.
And may I confess I would really love to hear again about Rikki and Sam later on….

I loved this one! Cute, fluffy but with a side of hot stuff! Also, I liked the main character and connected with her, -though I guess i wouldn't have given a possible scholarship away.-
Good NA, with a good enough chemistry and artsy characters
I gotta say, as cute and quirky as this is (and I did enjoy it) there wasn’t anything especially stand out about this one. I liked that it “does what it says on the tin” and is essentially what it makes itself out to be. I did like that the novel had a lot of open mindedness for it but I don’t know if I’d read the next few.
A quick read. Writing was pleasant. A good enemy to lover story that honestly sometimes we just need to read
Review: 4 out of 5 stars
What a frustrating book! In the most positive way of course; I don’t think I have come across characters that are clearly so perfect for one another but can never seem to communicate their true feelings and prefer to play games with one another’s emotions. If it wasn’t for what happened towards the ending of this book it would have been a 5 star read for me.
Rikki and Sam have always hated one another; it all started out with their academic competitiveness but then it changed with a game of seven minutes in heaven; both characters are extremely strong-willed and not willing to forgive the other until they call a truce when they end up in the same dorm at college.
Rikki and Sam were both well-developed, fleshed out and likeable characters but boy oh boy did they need to work on their communication skills; it isn’t until Sam asks Rikki to model for his sculpting project that their friendship actually begins to change and Rikki feels differently towards him despite crushing on someone else.
As the book progresses, we learn that Rikki and Sam have a lot in common; they bond over their virgin status, they also have family issues – Rikki with the pending divorce of her lesbian parents and Sam with the recent death of his father and his struggle to leave home and his mum. Their conversations and bonding times strengthened their growing friendship.
I really enjoyed Abigail Strom’s writing style, she wrote some wonderfully diverse characters who all played a role in the overall story and kept the plot entertaining with their ongoing antics; as mentioned above though there was an incident towards the end of the book that left me deeply disappointed; it was a big plot twist that I truly didn’t expect, I won’t divulge what it was to avoid spoilers but be prepared.
Overall, I enjoyed Rikki by Abigail Strom and I look forward to reading more titles by this author.
Thank you to Abigail via Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review Rikki.
I received this book for a fair and honest review.
I loved 75% of this book (3.5 stars), the build up was fantastic, the characters were likable, and the free spirited dorm setting was perfect. This book lives and breathes inclusiveness and I loved the open-minded female MC who doesn't need to put down or judge others to validate herself.
That said, I did not love this and that's due to the indiscretion of the male MC, it seemed drastic and took me out of the story. However, again the female MC saves the story again and I was able to finish the book and be pleased.
Lovely new author for me.

Rikki and Sam are two rivals who end up going to college together and calling a truce. As they spend more time together at college, they both start realizing that maybe animosity isn't the only, or accurate, feeling they have for each other. Can two people who have competed against each other all through high school find a way to be happy? Can Rikki open not only her eyes, but her heart, to all the possibilities that she has available? When Sam makes a mistake the same night they finally knock down a few walls will she be able to forgive him for not telling her, and for what he did? When she needs him most and she pushes him away, will he leave our be there for her? I can't wait to see what happens in the next books in the series.

I did not love this book but I did quite enjoy it. The writing was solid and the characters were likeable and complex enough to be interesting without being too complex to relate to. I think this book would appeal to a reader who likes an a story that is easy to get into without too much stress on the readers part. I am reviewing this book based on an ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.
I really liked this book! It was cute and it was fun. NA romances are always amazing, so I loved this one too. I wish there was more to it hough. It was very surface level and I wanted more than just the main relationship.
A fabulous love to hate to love read. It's fast pace and keeps you swiping the pages. I loved this one by Abigail Strom. I can tell she's going to fast become a one click author for me. Rikki and Sam you can't help but feel the love even though they thought they the other hated them. Watching them wave the flag and become friends was fireworks just waiting to go off. You couldn't help but watch the sparks fly and hope they finally get the communication going and open up to how they feel. I'm so looking forward to the rest of this series.

This is one of those books I feel like I shouldn't have liked as much as I did. If I wanted to overthink it there are quite a few issues I could point out. The problem is that I have no desire to overthink it. This was a fun, silly escape from reality and I enjoyed every page of it.
