I thought The Bombshell was one of my favorite books from this author, but I think Bodyguard gives it a run for its money. I just loved this book from the characters to the plot line to the finish! Kudos to the author - on to the next from her!

Carter and Emily were hot together. Their story is sweet and sexy but also emotional and full of passion. Their desire for each other is explosive that they can't stay away from each other. But Carter has his own secrets that could tear them apart.

I swear every time I read a CD Reiss novel I get swept away. This book was incredible and honestly the chemistry between them was intense and the banter just as hot. Bravo! 4 stars!

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.

So I am either really becoming super picky over what I am reading anymore or I am just finding books to be just ok for me lately. And that is not good, at all.

I did not read the first book in this series (you do not need to) but I did read her other previous release, King of Code, and I really enjoyed that book. But I found myself struggling to get into the Bodyguard. And I can't pinpoint any one thing, I think it was a bunch of things for me.

The story line was nice. While I enjoyed the push and pull between Emily and Carter, it started to grate on my nerves at times. I enjoyed the tension and the chemistry between the two but the constant battle was drawn out for me.

I loved the single dad portion of this book. And what made it unique was the age of the child - he was a teenager. I just wished I saw more interactions between these two and I think that's where I missed the connection on that.

Fist-bump. "Size of my heart." - yea, this got me. Read the book and find out and what I mean.

Overall, is was just a nice read. Because it felt very slow to me, it took longer for me to get through because I felt no urgency to see what would happen or how things panned out. If you are a fan of CD Reiss, you will enjoy this book a lot.

I am loving this series!

Emily is a choreographer for her best friend/superstar. She once had a career but gave it up for a boyfriend who didn’t like other people looking at her. Now that she isn’t with him anymore he is stalking her and keeping her from truly living her life. She has to look over her shoulders all the time.

Carter is a bodyguard and likes to keep to himself. He keeps his private life to himself. Something about Emily draws him to her and he has a hard time staying away from her.

Carter and Emily have chemistry that pulls them to each other. Will Carter be able to get past his hang-ups and truly let Emily in? Will Emily be able to get her crazy ex to leave her alone for good? This book will pull you in and have you flipping the pages fast to see what’s going to happen.

My heart belongs to Carter Kincaid from now till FOREVER.

Emily's life is filled with glitz and glamour. She frequents parties and awards and is a choreographer to huge popstars. But along with fame came a stalker and he's hell bent on making her his.

Carter Kincaid, sexy smart bodyguard extraordinaire, is the best man in security and is now assigned to Emily. As much as she is attracted to him, any relationship with him became forbidden the minute he was assigned her protection. Too bad they both keep breaking the rules. Too bad their actions have serious consequences. Too bad they are falling in love anyway.

I keep saying it, y'all and I never tire because C.D. Reiss is so amazing it blows my mind EVERYTIME!

I love Emily. She is smart, talented and so so strong. I am in awe her character and no bullshit attitude. She is a troubled soul but she works everyday to better here life.

OMG CARTER!!!!!!!!! This man in unparalleled. Like from his name to his growly Alpha male self, I AM IN LOVE. Also, the way he took care of Phin and loved him made my heart swoon.

This story might follow a popular trope but it was nothing like any story I have ever read. My heart hurt for Phin and he need to know his mother. I had to take some time to breathe after every Carter and Phin interaction because CARTER IS LETHAL FOR MY HEART.

This book is real, raw, sexy and so heartfelt I get a sweet heartache every time I think of Emily and Carter together.

Sexy, captivating read delving into the darker grittier side of the Hollywood glamour life. Fast paced and well written with characters that were well developed and likable.
Emily is a dancer and choreographer and as she's about to go on tour discovers she has a stalker. A bodyguard is hired to protect her and their attraction is mutual and instant.
The chemistry between Emily and Carter was chemistry was off the charts. Their mutual insta attraction puts Carter in a position where he takes protecting Emily to a whole new level. But Carter's own mysterious past and secret keeps him from pursuing anything with Emily. The sexual tension added some angsty twists and turns.
Carter was an intense and interesting character and I wish we learned more about his past. Emily had some quirks that had me scratching my head. However overall it was an enjoyable read. It can certainly be read as a standalone, even though it's part of the Hollywood Series.

BOOK REVIEW: 3 FIST OF MY HEART STARS

I was always have been a lover of Hollywood romances. But Reiss with this Hollywood A-List books took it to a different level. From where should I start with this story?! So many things it had inside that captured my attention and kept till the end.

One of the first things that captivated me was who else than Darlene. That girl is a force of nature and the best of the best friends a girl could have. Not only she is a huge star and her voice is amazing, but she hasn't let even for one second her fame to make her forget the love and friendship she shares for so many years with Emily. No matter in what level her career is, she never stops taking care of her BFF and worries about her. Honestly, I have noticed so many things, both small and big, she has done for Em throughout the years together that I have lost count. She is a true gem of a friend and what made me love her even more was the simple fact that, even though she is a Hollywood star, she has remained human and grounded.

4.5 Size of My Fist CROWNS

With the many different elements of sexual chemistry, romance, and suspense, Bodyguard by CD Reiss had me not only enamored with Carter and Emily but flipping the pages in anticipation of how their story would end.

Boy, oh, boy. I’m not sure I have loved a CD Reiss hero this much since Dash Wallace. Carter Kincaid is EVERYTHING!! The protective nature of being a bodyguard makes him uber-sexy, like he emits strip down in front of him, I need you now kind of pheromones. I found this aspect of his personality completely irresistible, especially when readers realize how far his protectiveness extends. The secret he is keeping will only serve to make readers love him more. Unlike other male characters in the story, Carter seems to balance that line between being assertive with a woman and respecting her space and wishes. His character is one of the many reasons I love this book.

Emily’s character is stuck in a life of isolation and fear after escaping a rather abusive relationship, which she is still dealing with. While she doesn’t seem to really be really living, readers cannot really blame her. What will make readers love her character is how she evolves and truly starts to take control of her life. More than anything, though, readers will respect her for her choices and her ability to take be her own life and save herself.

This story from the very beginning has intense sexual chemistry between the two characters. It is very much insta-lust that develops into insta-love. Even though the pacing of the relationship to be fast, the circumstances in which they meet lends itself to the believability of it all. What enticed me additionally is the stalker story-line, as it is clear that this will be a contributing factory in the development of the story and their relationship. What I would have loved is to see a bigger explosion when the inevitable occurs. If this would have happened, Bodyguard would have been a 5 CROWN read, without a doubt.

Love the Bodyguard, love CD Reiss’s story-telling, and love the journey of these two characters as they find their HEA! Bodyguard is definitely another one-click must read from this author.

I really didn't like this book. I couldn't get into it at all. The style and the characters.
I struggled to read it.

I had started this book and then had to stop (pause) when I received a library book with a short period of time left.
I don't like starting/stopping/switching books midstream. I like to stay in the same world-until I'm finished.
I went right back to the story and continued to enjoy it.
This is first person POV alternating between Carter & Emily. (Slightly more of Emily's POV)
Emily is a choreographer for singer/dancer Darlene. Emily and Darlene are BFFs since childhood. Emily chose to quit her own singing/dancing star aspirations to keep her crazy-possessive (now ex) happy. Emily has settled into life behind the scenes-as far as the public can tell (and her crazy ex).
Carter is hired to protect Emily. They have instant sparks. I felt their mutual attraction.
Carter is a big burly teddy bear of a hunky guy. He has some issues in his personal life that are gradually revealed.
Carter lives in LA and works around the media, show biz and all other kinds of riff raff (am I being redundant?) LOL. How does he expect to keep under the radar- out of the spotlight?
I liked how Carter's personal life is revealed. Emily is emotional supportive of him. Emily has her own issues with her personal life. If/when will her crazy ex show up? How can he be stopped? Carter and Emily find a way to be together intimately. Their scenes together are pretty hot. I liked how the suspense didn't get in the way of the love scenes and the suspenseful parts didn't take away from the sexy times.
There are light moments too. Carter is a very loving guy. He really does put his family first . Way ahead of his career or personal life.
Carter's mom seemed a little out of place for me-but she had her funny moments too.
I read book 1 "Bombshell". Both of these books are standalone stories.
I loved Carter's protective way with Emily. Emily sometimes got in her own way, but I liked her too.
Thanks for the ARC Netgalley. I enjoy Ms Reiss' writing style and her dry sense of humor.

Bodyguard is book two in C.D. Reiss' Hollywood A-List series. Although it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone with no issues.

Emily is best friend and choreographer for Darlene, who is a mega singing star gearing up for a tour. She attends all the red carpet events with Darlene, but unfortunately, that has attracted the attention of her stalker ex, Vince. He is obviously not one to be detoured, so Darlene assigns her bodyguard to Emily, since he's the best.

Carter is dedicated to his work covering A-List stars. He is laser-focused and not someone to mess with. When he is re-assigned to Emily, he is out of his element. All he can think about is her and what he wants to do with her! He would be breaking cardinal rules yes, but Emily is the first one to come around that he's felt the rules were worth breaking for.

I was very intrigued with this bird's eye view of celebrities! I am not one to read tabloids and social media gossip pages, but I was interested in the very different view we get when you live in the public eye. The security issues that come from fame are immense! From paparazzi, to fans, to stalkers, it's a job that has to be taken very seriously.

Carter is a serious guy. He wants you to believe that he is from a normal family and that he is nothing spectacular, but there is an underlying mystery there. His knack for avoiding direct questions fosters that intrigue. I wanted to know what was going on behind the scenes. He wanted Emily to open up and be truthful to him, but he wasn't reciprocating so that frustrated me. I knew it was all part of the plan though and all would be revealed.....eventually!

The chemistry between Carter and Emily was sizzling and I enjoyed their romance. What kept this from being a five star read for me, was that the book ended with some unresolved situations. Not only with Carter and Emily, but also with her ex Vince. We are left to assume certain things, and that's fine, but I would've liked to read the resolution.

I am an overall fan of C.D. Reiss and although my favorite of hers, The Songs of Submission Series, takes the cake, this book is good! It's well worth the money and time to read it!

Carter Kincaid is the ultimate protector, not only for his clients but also for the people who mean the most to him, and in order to do his job as a bodyguard as well as keep his personal priorities in order, control is what drives him…what allows him to maintain his hold on a structured and balanced life, but in some ways, it’s also what prevents Carter from fully living…from experiencing love beyond the familial bonds that force him to live a solitary life.

Emily Barrett can’t remember the last time she’s felt completely safe or desired in a way that wasn’t menacing or disturbing, and due to the rules in place to keep her unharmed by her crazy stalker ex-boyfriend, her life only consists of her work and a security system that tracks her every move, ensuring no harm comes to her but also giving her zero privacy.

But when Carter’s new assignment becomes the tiny dancer who strips him of his control and overrides his common sense, Carter and Emily’s regimented lives become a bit more chaotic and a lot more complicated.

‘Love was the one thing worth protecting.’

If there’s one thing that Carter and Emily fiercely protect, it’s those they love and would willingly lay down their lives for and as Carter struggles to keep his two worlds separate while still keeping Emily and Phin safe, he soon realizes that he can’t control every situation or circumstance, so when everything in his life threatens to implode, the sacrifices made may leave everyone unsafe and more vulnerable than ever before.

I have to admit that I wasn’t too sure about the second book in CD Reiss’ Hollywood A-List series; it started a bit slowly because there was a lot of set up that needed to take place in order to understand why and how the hero and heroine are in the positions they are in when their lives intersect. The main characters also didn’t seem to be A-Listers in the true sense of the term, which made it somewhat difficult to see their importance the guise of the Hollywood Elite. But as the story progressed and readers were provided the necessary insight into the hero and heroine’s connections and backstories, the text’s pace picked up and the plot’s objective became clear, providing clues about Carter’s mysterious personal life and his need to avoid certain entanglements.

I love the fact that C.D. Reiss crafts stories that do not follow the stereotypical mandates/characteristics of the romance genre. She’s not afraid to go outside the box and take risks when it comes to creating complex characters with unique and  twisted circumstances and the way she unveils necessary truths about her characters keep readers invested, hoping to understand the hows and whys of everything that goes down in the lives of her heroes and heroines.

I ended up really enjoying Carter and Emily’s story and one of the main reasons is a certain secondary character who stole my heart, and because he’s at the heart of everything that Carter does, I can’t help but want to protect him and keep him safe just as much as Carter works to do day in and day out, even willingly giving up certain aspects of his life so that this person has everything he wants and needs and definitely deserves.
