My first read by this author cannot really be classed as a success I am afraid.
I found the story line bogged down far too much with the technicalities of being an astronaut, and the planned mission. The relationship never really took off for me to be honest, I struggled to find any real connection between the H/h. There were parts that were sweet, but I can't say I was blown away by this book.
Would I try another book by this author based on my reading experience on this occasion... Not too sure to be honest.
I had read other books by Abigail Strom and quite liked them so I thought I would enjoy this one too, I did not. I did not actually finish this book because both the characters and story irritated me. I am reviewing this book based on an ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.
3.5 stars.
First observation after reading this book, it was so different from "Tell Me". While that book had a more realistic storyline with a lot of depth and intensity this one was definitely much lighter and more of a fantasy.
Along those lines I really did enjoy this story and I liked all the "realistic" information revealed about NASA and space flight. It was obvious that the author had done her research.
Maybe I also believe that a manned space flight to Mars is possible but realistically I don't see this happening 10 years from now, but what do I know.
I do however like a dreamy love story and even though it wasn't set in space but down on earth, it somehow reminded me of the movie "Passengers" with Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt.
These two characters reminded me so much of the movie characters.
Airin was so sweet and trusting but also smart and ready to explore a new world and Hunter was so affected by her that he felt compelled to make choices that were so different from his set goals .
Overall a really good and interesting read for me.
Airin and Hunter make a cute couple, and overall I did enjoy this story. The obsession with Mars seemed like an afterthought, and at times I skimmed those parts. I also didn't like how Hunter was manipulated by her mother to spy on her. Yes, he felt guilty (which he should ) but did it anyway. I enjoyed the story, and it was a quick read. Just felt it could have been a bit stronger in details and emotions. Would recommend.

Science and space exploration buffs will love this story of a romance between two people as well as their passion for space exploration.
Airin has led the most sheltered life due to a lifelong illness and is trying to break free from the tight reigns her overprotective mother. Hunter is a man on a mission and Airin is proving to be a major distraction that he can't help. The core of this story is Airin and Hunter's gravitation to one another despite what's best and the plans years in the making. There is tons of information dealing with space exploration, NASA and Mars that was interesting but overloaded the story for me.
I love Abigail Strom's writing and unfortunately this one just didn't click with me but will not stop me from continuing to read her books.
I love Abigail Strom’s books. Her characters are well developed, and her stories ar unique. It is also very clear in Show Me that a great deal of research took place. I would highly recommend this book!
