I love books like this. I really enjoy learning new things. Well written and easy to dip in and out of if you don't want to binge the whole thing.

Written by Jim Chapman as a book about everything he knows, it's an excellent read through space and time covering everything from the body, life and death, growing up, animals, fears, annoyances and things to be positive about.

It would be easier and fairly expected that this book would be written as a series of facts. These sort of books tend to be dry and somewhat cold affairs.

This is not one of those books.

The writing style is warm, honest and very engaging. It's a very enjoyable read, at times I cringed and winced, others I realised I'm not the only person who thinks about these sort of things far too deeply and at other times I laughed out loud.

The scientific facts are in there but this is a much more of a personal book that is very easy to relate to. Some of the situations Jim found himself are hilarious and may resonate strongly, for others you'll be more than pleased that Jim took one for the team on that particular occasion.

I really enjoyed 147 Things. Jim has written about a slight odd, weird mix of topics ranging from quantum physics, life and death and the universe, and also talks about lobsters, waxing animals, bodies, fears, myths and legends and whole host of other things.

Also written through out the previously mentioned topics, Jim also tells us about meeting his wife, Tanya, about his first Love and family and so on.

I really liked the writing style, it does feel like a friends telling you there things that you might find interesting, and most of the 147 Things are genuinely interesting.

Not my usual genre, but an entertaining way to pass a couple of hours. It was witty and funny and informative provoking read.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in return for an honest and fair review. Thank You

A surprising mix of things on which Jim Chapman gives his personal or scientific solutions. These include how you would die in outer space or in a volcanic eruption. His views on tons, and tonnes. How he feels about his wife leaving hair in the hair trap in the shower! Is he bald or is some of this hair his?
I enjoyed this book as it made a change from the usually scientific reasoning in this type of book.
I was given this book by NetGalley and the publisher. This is my voluntary and impartial review.

For what this book is, a collection of interesting facts, it's pretty good. I'd never heard of the author, but he incorporates the facts into his personal story well. A good variety of facts too, I kept heading to Google to find out more about them, which is a good sign!

Jim Chapman is the type of guy you really want on your pub quiz team. You’re guaranteed to win! This book is entertaining and fascinating. Ideal to dip in and out of & a great gift!

It was ok i guess. It took me absolutely ages to trawl through it because i constantly lost interest and found something better to do.

Jim Chapman will be better known to a YA audience from his Youtube channel, but this book deserves a much wider readership.
Part autobiography, part philosophy of life, part social commentary, part random musings on stuff he simply finds fascinating, it's a great book to dip into, and anyone from 10 to 100 will find something here to amuse, entertain, educate or provoke thought.
I loved it, and it makes a great stocking filler/birthday pressie!

This is the type of book you can pick up at various points especially if you want to improve on your dinner party banter. Funny and very informative for all the family.

This book was a bit hit and miss for me. On the whole, I liked it, but there were also a lot of parts which I found dull to read. Which, I suppose it only to be expected when it's a collection of random facts, some will inevitably be more interesting than others.
The parts I found most enjoyable were the stories which related directly to his life. The stories about sleep-talking and how he met his wife, were to me at least, way more interesting than the random stories thrown into the mix.
I found myself wishing, on more than one occasion, that this was more of a memoir than the book that it was.
Having said all this, however, there were enough enjoyable stories contained in this book, to make it an interesting read and if you love random facts and weird observations, then this will definitely appeal to you.

This was interesting, in that it would probably help if I was going to a pub quiz and I liked the random mismatch of facts, but it wasn’t interesting enough to hold my attention for long, and I really struggled to read it.

147 Things certainly keep you hooked. This is a book by a 'YouTube' star, but isn't all about how they grew up then decided to sit in front of a computer making videos.
It was a bit slow to get into, which usually puts me off reading a book to the end. I also think that the book was a bit too long, however, I read it and enjoyed it. My thanks to Net Galley for my advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really fun book. I love reading fact books that make you think about different things in life. It was really well set out and funny to read. I love Jim's drive to find out about new things in detail. I hope there's another book from him soon!

An interesting book with a great humourous tone and a good range of interesting topics, though there is quite a scientific tilt to things - if science isn't your thing it might not be for you.

A life-style bible for the novice, as well as a cautionary summary of how to live successfully. The tips are revelatory. Read this and find new ways of seeing and doing things better. Encapsulates everything one needs to live a stress free life. Enjoy.

This book lists the 147 facts that Jim Chapman says he knows. Some are funny, some are interesting and some are just daft. He also tells stories about events in his life. I had never heard of Jim Chapman and this is not really my type of book.

A book by on of the biggest You Tube sensations is the moment...why not.

I read this book over a number of weeks. As it’s a book of 147 things, I found myself dipping in every couple of days. It’s witty, funny, informative and slightly heartbreaking in places too.

Thank you to NetGalley, Pan Macmillan and the author for the chance to review.

This was a fairly interesting book to dip in and out of but just wasn't engaging enough to make me want to sit down and read it from cover to cover. It felt like a stream of consciousness than a well thought out book.

This book, in my opinion, just does not make the grade. A lot of hype has been written in the sdvertising of this book, I can only say in my opinion, it is a load of rubbish. Fact after fact is given with no storyline and with nothing to hold your interest. i am sure that there are people who like to know 'facts' , I myself like intersting observations, but I like to read them in an intersting way and sorry to say that I do not think this book achieves that.
