Ivy Clarke doesn't believe in love, but there isn't anything wrong with engaging in a limited-time affair. So, when she starts working side-by-side with Jackson Gamble to renovate a house, she finds herself heading into unfamiliar territory and falling deeper under his spell. Will she realize she's in love with Jackson before it's too late, or will their chance at happy ever after slip by?

What a completely compelling and absolutely engaging read Ms. Madsen has delivered in this book, which offered plenty of amusing moments and delicious tension between the main characters that had me turning the pages until I was at the end of the story quicker than I thought I would be. The way this story started had me wanting to laugh at the heroine's predicament, as being a disbeliever of love would make anyone want to run from the conversation Ivy's found herself having with someone. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine came face-to-face for the first time that had me absolutely charmed by this couple's intense chemistry and the way they interact. They seem to be frenemies since Ivy is Jackson's sister's best friend and she treats the hero as an enemy because of everything that's happened between them. Does she really think seeing him as the enemy is going to be able to keep her from falling in love?

As for the dialogue, it was well-written, entertaining and I liked the heroine's cynicism when it came to love and relationships. Really, it was endearing trait of Ivy's, especially when she's up against Jackson doing everything he can to prove her wrong when it comes to her believing the only person she can rely on is herself. Moreover, the heroine is extremely independent and I could understand why after everything she's been through in the past that makes her determined not to give any man a chance. I also liked her enthusiasm for renovating the house, as she's quite good at it. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine is her courage in taking a chance on Jackson, even though it's hard for her to put her trust in a man. Then again, he's one of the good guys. While the hero, he is one of the best heroes I've read lately due to his back story and his determination to win the heroine over by everything he does, especially the moment where they are with his family. Will Ivy go off at him for what he does? I also enjoyed the tight bond he shares with his family, as his sister, his mom and his aunt are determined to see him find happiness.

Overall, Ms. Madsen has delivered a fantastic read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was heady and formidable; and the ending filled me with joy because of what the heroine does in order to win Jackson back after things go awry between them. Certainly, Ivy has plenty of courage and is determined in her plan. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, because of the surprise Jackson has for Ivy. I would recommend Nailed It by Cindi Madsen, if you enjoy the enemy to lovers trope, the friends to lovers trope, the sister's best friend trope, or books by authors Emma Hart, Wynter Daniels, Sara Ney and Kadie Scott.

this book was just ok. my main issue was that we never got the hero's perspective. the heroine was such a mess and kept him at arms length for most of the book so i never understood why he was so committed to her, especially after a one week fling in their past. she wasn't a very sympathetic character so i never really was rooting for her.

'm Ivy Clarke. Bartender, best friend, and disbeliever in love.
And now I'm in over my head, trying to flip a house all by myself.
Thanks, HGTV.
I'm not too proud to admit I need some help. Too bad the only one who can help me is the same man I want to throw out this house's second-story window.
Jackson Gamble and I can't be in the same room together for more than a minute without devolving into a sparring match.
Except for that one time…
But enough about that. Jackson's looking for forever, and I don't believe in love, remember?
Get in. Renovate. Get out. Keep my heart firmly in tact.
Because it's much easier to fix up a house than a broken heart.

Full of humor and dripping with delicious tension, Nailed It proves that every heart can be ready for a little rehabilitation, if only you're willing to open it up.

This kind of reminded me of Property Brothers with romance and sniping. I really loved it. It's the author that I've found that I really like. All her books are different and have just that old time romantic feel to them. This was no different. It had a lot of funny parts in it and I really love when a book has that. I want to laugh, cry, and just all-around enjoy the novel.

Ivy and Jackson...they had some really good chemistry together. Even though I haven't read the first book in the series and you don't have to - this was a solid second book.

Ivy has relationship avoidance down to a science. After seeing how her mother has jumped from man to man her whole life, Ivy has rules she follows to prevent herself from getting hurt.

Jackson, her best friend Savannah's brother, has always had a way of getting under her skin. When she starts working on a house renovation with him, the sparks start to fly.

Ivy has a lot of wit and sass and makes a fun narrator. I do wish, though, we had gotten to see some of the events from Jackson's perspective. It would have been fun to get into his head a little bit.

While I enjoyed the plot and learning more about both Ivy and Jackson, it did feel a little long. The last 20% or so was my favorite part and the ending was wonderful!

This is a companion book to 12 Steps to Mr. Right, but can be read as a stand-alone.

3 stars -- I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.

Well bummer.  This one just didn't grab me.  I didn't dislike it, but it was solidly meh for me.  Since this book was entirely from Ivy's POV, I found I didn't have as much to go on for Jackson.  What I saw of him I definitely liked, but I have a feeling that I would have loved him even more if I'd had more time with him, or could have seen inside his head.

So really, all I had to go on was Ivy.  And Ivy was NOT my kind of girl.  I think I was supposed to empathize with her past and how that shaped her into the commitment-phobe she'd become.  And it worked to a point, my heart did actually break for the childhood she had, and the way her mother treated her, and how those experiences shaped her.  And if I'd seen some growth and change along the way, I might have tolerated it more.  But I just didn't buy hers.  I don't know why.  Honestly, it's one of those things you just feel from reading, but can't explain why you didn't connect.  It's like...I just couldn't connect with Ivy along the story.  And when we got to the end, it felt a bit more about-face-like instead of a slow journey.  I think it's because she clung so hard to her beliefs.  And I just got tired of it.

Along those same lines, this book became a bit repetitive at times...or at least it felt that way to me.  I felt like she would bring up the same incidences from her childhood to explain her relationship aversion.  Honestly, I wanted to start skimming just to see when she would finally figure things out.  I think I'm just not a patient reader.  Especially when I find myself unable to fully empathize with a character.

The other little thing that tweaked me that I wasn't expecting was the level of steaminess...or something.  I don't know how to categorize this.  See, I'll read sweet/clean completely fade to black stories.  And I'll read erotica.  But I don't think I've read this Entangled imprint before, and this story was somewhere in between.  Like I'd get the early sexy times part, but then when we got to the act it would just be glossed over.  And not to sound like a sex-starved idiot, but it felt like a tease, because I honestly felt like it was going the more detailed way, and then just when we'd get to that part, blah blah blah, generic glossover, done.  Seriously, this is the stupidest thing to complain about, but it just caught me off guard.  There's nothing wrong with it whatsoever, it's just not my personal favourite.  Or else I was just in a mood.  Who knows with me.

OK, I feel like all I've done is complain.  In general I really enjoyed the bantering and snarkiness between Ivy and Jackson...  Sometimes it felt a bit more hostile than I was comfortable with, but other times it hit that tone just right where I was laughing my butt off, and I could really feel the chemistry between them.  I also really enjoyed the relationship that Ivy had with Savannah, and how their friendship played a role.  And again, what I saw of Jackson I really adored.  I LOVED how he stuck by her, and waited out her stubbornness, and how he saw her...both her flaws and her strengths.

So yeah.  Like I said, it wasn't a terrible book.  I just didn't connect with it like I'd been hoping to.  Ah well, not every book is going to be a match.

I’ve been dying to get my hands on Ivy and Jackson’s story ever since they verbally sparred in “12 Steps to Finding Mr. Right”. Cindi Madsen nailed it once again by giving us a sassy, feisty heroine on the outside but conflicted, broken, and looking for love even though she doesn’t realize it on the inside. Her hilarious internal monologues often had me giggling aloud, and I absolutely loved both character’s quick comebacks to their back and forth banter.

Jackson, the good guy/construction worker hero, has just the right tools to mend her broken soul, folks. I’m talking about his heart and determination to get this girl to see the light and possibilities of a meaningful relationship with him. Well, his lips, hands, and other body parts came in pretty handy, too, of course. He took quite a few emotional punches to the heart as he let Ivy work through her fears and insecurities until she fully surrendered her heart and soul to him.

Yeah, there is some brief OW drama, because the main couple are not dating at the beginning, but he only went on a few dates with her. Details of some important events that happened after the end of book 1 but before this storyline began are eventually revealed. We are left with a surprising role reversal from your stereotypical romantic read, folks. This time around it is the heroine who tries to keep the hero at arms length, because she is afraid of getting hurt by committing to a relationship. The hero patiently struggles through on and off again rejection determined to be there for her when she is finally ready to let love conquer those deeply embedded fears.

Title: Nailed It, Author: Cindi Madsen, Pages: 331, stand-alone but part of a series, lots of relationship angst, great back and forth banter, heroine’s POV, celibate during separation, afraid to love/sassy/feisty bartender heroine, wants to commit good guy, patient hero, very steamy scenes, briefly dates OW but not intimate with her, no OM drama.

Book 1 - 12 Steps to Mr. Right (Savannah & Linc), 9/26/16, Pages: 350
Book 2 - Nailed It (Jackson & Ivy), 10/23/17, Pages: 331

I picked this book based on the blurb and I am so glad I did. I loved Jackson and Ivy and their bumpy road to a HEA. The banter between them is funny, the tension is crazy, the chemistry is off the charts hot. It's well written and the flow keeps you reading until the very end and the characters are real, well developed. Ivy is stubborn, but she's just trying to protect herself. Jackson makes that difficult. Pick up this book and find out how this all works out for this couple. I loved it and recommend it! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Ivy Clarke doesn’t believe in love… or long term relationships. So when she decides to renovate a house, and one of her flings shows up to help, she should be running for the hills. Except Jackson Gamble is her best friends brother… and he happens to know how to push every single one of her buttons…

When Ivy and Jackson start spending a lot of time alone together during the renovation, old feelings start to come back full force. Even though they’ve done the whole frenemies-to-lovers thing before, they decide this time will be different…

This was a fantastic book! This story was interesting and funny, I love some banter and sexual tension and this book had some of the best!

Ivy is pretty neurotic about her fear of commitment… of any kind. While her running away was trying at times, you could see where she gets it from with the unfortunate role model she had in her mother. But her best friend is a light in her life who stands by her and doesn’t judge her for her life choices. I loved this friendship, it was refreshing how accepting the two were of each other. Jackson seems pretty straightforward about wanting Ivy, any way he can get her and for however long she will let him. He is sexy, sweet, and determined… and you’ll be rooting for him the entire time!

I received a complimentary copy of the book for my honest and unbiased review.

I loved Ivy and Jackson in 12 Steps to Mr. Right so I was so excited to read their story!!

Ivy and Jackson seem to not get along at all. The secret is that they had a short fling and haven't been able to be in the same room together since. When Ivy learns that the woman who helped raise her is selling her home and it needs a lot of renovations, she decides to take on the project herself. Watching home improvement shows on HGTV means that you can renovate an entire house right? When she realizes that she's bitten off way more than she can chew, her best friend enlists Jackson to help.

Ivy and Jackson have off the charts chemistry and I was rooting for them from the very first page. Jackson is patient and so committed to changing Ivy's mind about having a full relationship. Ivy is fiercely independent and I loved getting to know her better. This story was quick, fun, and insanely entertaining. I couldn't put it down but I never wanted it to end.

Nailed It was my first novel by Cindi Madsen and I really liked her writing style. I was excited about this storyline because it sounded unique and not like any I had read before. Unfortunately it wasn't what I expected or hoped it would be.

The storyline and characters were alright, but I couldn't relate or connect with them. There wasn't enough background on Jackson and Ivy's previous relationship, and it felt like something was missing throughout the entire novel. I wished the story had been told from both Jackson and Ivy's POV, instead of just Ivy's. I actually liked Jackson more than I did Ivy. She was argumentative and annoying a lot of the time, and her view on love and relationships was very frustrating. I honestly couldn't understand why Jackson wanted her so much and was willing to stick around when she was like that. I also wished there had been more romance and intimate moments between Jackson and Ivy. With a title like Nailed It, I would have expected more than what was in the book. I liked most of the secondary characters, but there was one in particular that I loathed.

I really wanted to like Nailed It, but it just didn't do it for me. I honestly mean no offense or disrespect to the author. It was not my intention to hurt her feelings and I'm truly sorry that I couldn't give this book a higher rating. Just because I wasn't a fan of this story doesn't mean someone else wouldn't like it. My opinion is only one of many, so please read the book and form your own opinions.

Nailed It is a perfect mix of comedy & seriousness, a light & easy read when you just need a little fun!

Ivy is the ultimate commitaphobe, even going as far as working as a bartender instead of deciding on a career. Growing up watching her mom hop from one guy to the next has left her completely void of any belief in love or happily ever after. But when she takes on a project that turns out to be way more than she can handle she is forced to face her past, present & future.

Jackson is gorgeous, successful, and avoiding his family's endless meddling and attempts to set him up. Loving his bachelor status & working as a successful contractor, Ivy & her issues are definitely not what he needs in his life. Once was enough, after all! When his sister, and Ivy's best friend, convinces him to help her renovate a house neither of them knows what they are getting themselves into.

Ivy & Jackson are the definition of frenemies, their hilarious banter laced with enough sexual tension to clear a room. I loved their relationship, hurling insults while trying to keep from ripping the others clothes off, each trying to keep the upper hand. I really enjoyed this story, and loved the characters. Their chemistry was ridiculously hot, and I couldn't help but smile at each jab they threw at each other.

I am a big fan of DIY and renovation tv shows so this book was right up my alley! I really enjoyed this second chance romance that had such awesome banter, insane chemistry between Jackson and Ivy and there is nothing sexier than a man who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty!

If you’re after a fun, light rom-com then this is the book for you!

Heartwarming With All the Feels!
Great, fun and an engaging romance, that was so enjoyable to read. As well as a mixture of a couple of my favorite tropes Best Friend’s Big Brother and Enemies to Lovers Romance. A great mix of everything I adore in a story, humor, heart, animosity and heat.
Ivy Clarke tends bar, to make ends meet, and doesn’t believe in Love. How can she, after she has seen, the havoc and destruction love left in its wake, her whole life. Vulnerable and dysfunctional when it comes to relationships, unable to rely on others, she goes through her life keeping herself closed off. Her best friend Savannah, is disgustingly in love and engaged to Linc, and since she is going to be the maid of honor in their wedding, Ivy must try to get along with Savannah’s brother Jackson Gamble till the wedding is over. As long as she can stay away from him, she just might be able to ignore the way that Jackson’s drives her crazy in both irritation and turning her on. Seeing him at the engagement party with a date, they decide on a temporary truce. But when Ivy comes across a for sale sign, at the only place that had felt like home, her mother’s best friend, Dixies’, Victorian house, she comes up with a plan and convinces Dixie to let her renovate it and split the profits. But soon, Ivy is over her head, and Savannah surprises Ivy by sending her brother, Jackson to her rescue. As these two work closely together to renovate, will they be able to resist their attraction to one another? Will Jackson break down Ivy’s walls? You will need to read to find out. Great heartwarming read!

What do you do when you mother has shown you what a disaster love can be...Why after seeing said mother go threw numerous boyfriends, love matches and possible husbands like Kleenex, you vow to never ever commit to any man to make you Whole... You can do things all by yourself....

Well, sort of...maybe that one week with your best friend's brother really didn't count...

Anyway... on to blocking out all that made you cray, cray....

A good dose of HGTV Binge watching should do the trick.

And just when our gal thought she was setting herself straight and getting on with getting on... she sees her best memory home is for sale ...

Why that must be a sign... I mean how hard could a redo and flip be...
Her mom did it with guys... and now our gal decides to do it with this house...

Again... Can't be too hard, they do it all day long on HGTV....

So about that... ummm... not as easy as thought and coming to the rescue is that best friend's brother again... Only this time both of them are not all lovely dovey... more like snapping turtles.

This is a case of two who should just get over their hang ups and admit they are right for each other...

It is no secret by now that I’m a huge Cindi Madsen fan and read pretty much any book she writes and always look forward to her books. I’m also a sucker for second chance romance so when this came up for review it was a no-brainer for me. I enjoyed the characters, they both were well written , although Ivy at times seemed a bit more on the annoying site. But overall I enjoyed her and she was easy to relate to. Jackson was also enjoyable and very swoon-worthy, who also happens to be a funny but yet a bit cocky. I really enjoyed his side of the book/ The side characters were as much part of the story as the main, but didn’t take away from the main couple but perfectly complemented the main storyline. Overall. I really enjoyed this book. Some parts were a bit slower and a bit to predicable but still very fun to read. Another win for Cindi Madsen. I rate it 4 ★
