This Raphael and Cyn novella picks up after the death of Mathilde and the situation with the European vamps. Mathilde's 'child' Laurent has taken her place, and launches an attack on Raphael. He retaliates by taking his vamp crew to France to take care of unfinished business.

There was also a subplot about the vampire Quinn, who is being supported by Raphael as he returns to Ireland to take up the reins of rule in Ireland and his ancestral home as well. This will also serve to give Raphael a power base in Europe.

Good story, as usual. It was nice to touch base with most of the Vampire Lords and their mates as they convene in California for business with Raphael. The story was very short, just barely topping 100 pages, but managed to pack in an interesting story; as well as to set Quinn up for his book.
