A fun romantic contemporary. I wish I had read book one though. I think that would have given this book, which is a series (didn't know that when I requested). Still entertaining !

First of all I would like to thank Netgalley for lending me a copy in exchange of an honest review.
This book was a nice surprise, funny, endearing, I coulnd't stop reading it until I finished it. The only issue I could see was that it is not a standalone, so you need to read the first one - which I did and enjoyed a lot - before starting this one.
I liked the main character, not so much her love interests but I think it was overall a very entertaining book. I´ll be recommending it to my friends and colleagues.

I absolutely adored [book:I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions|30654149] and when I found out that their was going to be a sequel I couldn't wait to get my hand on it, especially after reading that cliffhanger.[book:Unconditionally|34928728] was filled with amazing dialogue, hilarious moments, and intriguing characters. The only thing that I was a little disappointed with was the romance portions of the book. I really wanted to read more about Adam and Kate, and their moments together, so much so that the moments that were written in didn't seem to completely satisfy my need for more Adam and Kate moments.

At the end of the day, the Contract Killers duopoly was so much fun to read. I would definitely recommend this book if you love reading hilarious characters and captivating romances.

Do you love romances with a twist? This one will satisfy.

This book was a nice read but I was entertained more by the antics of the couples coming to the main character for legal help than the actual plot itself.I liked the strong female friendship in this book but I didn't like the love interests of the main character.

This is the second book in the Contract Killers series.  I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing the first one when it was published and I am excited to be a part of this blog tour for its sequel.

The premise of these books is an interesting one.  Instead of marriage, couple sign 7 year contracts with the option to renew.  If a couple can not make it through the 7 years together, they have to go through a lawyer and possibly a court case for breach of contract.

Kate never thought she would go into signing law but here she is and she is doing well in the field.  Her own love life is a mess but that doesn't mean anything when it comes to trying her cases.

This is a fun, fast, sexy read.  I really enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one.

Unconditionally is the second book in the adult romantic comedy series called Contract Killers by Erin Lyon. I loved the first book, I love you, Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions (See my review here). The contract Killer series is set in a world where the concept of marriage has turned into a series of seven year contracts. At the end of your contract term, you and your partner can choose whether or not to re-sign for another term of years.

Unconditionally is part two of Kate’s duology. In the first book, she is blindsided by her partner when he doesn’t want to re-sign, which sets of a change in Kate’s life. We follow Kate as she navigates a new job and lots of new lover interests. It ended on a nasty cliffhanger, but Unconditionally picks up the day after book one ended and we get to see the continuation to Kate’s story. I loved Unconditionally even more than I loved the first book, and I think that has everything to do with how awesome Kate is. She is so level headed and honest, and fair and so nice. I want to be friends with Kate in real life.

In Unconditionally not only do we get to see how Kate’s romantic life turns out, and yes she is still juggling multiple guys throughout Unconditionally, but we also get to see a big window into Kate’s life as a new signing attorney. I have no idea if other readers will find Kate’s days as interesting as I did, but I loved that such a big part of this book was the daily life of a new attorney. We got to see lots of clients, last minute hearing overages (which turned out to be HILARIOUS with the Judge). I wasn’t expecting so much of the focus of this story to be about Kate’s actual job, but I was really pleased that it was.

By the end of the first book, I was firmly on team Adam. I love him and I love him with Kate. We do get to see a good bit of Adam in this story, but the whole story is told through Kate’s point of view, and I would love to see another book, or even some deleted scenes, from Adam’s perspective. I just want more Adam!! Because a good portion of this book is Kate at her job, with her friend Logek, or seeing someone else, we didn’t get to see nearly enough Adam for my tastes. I found myself wondering what Adam was up to several times while I was reading. But every time we did get a scene with Adam in it, both Kate and I totally lit up! The romance in Unconditionally was everything I wanted. And at the conclusion we got to see a nice little epilogue with the man Kate ends up with. I really hate typing the word conclusion, because I really would love to see more books set in the Contract Killers world. Selfishly, I want to see more of Adam. I would love to see something more from him, but I will take anything in this world that I can get. Books about Logek, Jared or any other “contract killers” (men that only go after women that have signed a contract with another man) would be great.

Bottom line: I think The Contract Killers series is the perfect series for fans of witty romances with tons of humor and lots of heart. This book needs to be made into a movie. I can really see this story translating well to the big screen. I can’t wait to read more from Erin Lyon. Both of her books were just what I wanted- tons of witty, romantic fun. Unconditionally is one of my favorite reads of 2018.

In the Contract Killers series, the world is much the same as today, but with one big difference: there is no such thing as marriage, instead people ‘sign’ with someone. This is basically the same as marriage only, like most contracts there is an end date; 7 years. After 7 years is up you can either part ways or re-up the contact for another 7 years.

Unconditionally is the second (maybe the last?) book in the Contract Killers series and starts just where we left off in the first book. So, if you haven’t read I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions you will need to pick that up first. We dive straight back into Kate’s world, where she is in the middle of a love square as well as keeping up with her crazy clients in her job as a signing attorney.

There were elements of Unconditionally I really liked, such as her antics as an attorney in signing law and the hilarious scraps that her clients find themselves in. I also thought Kate was a good heroine, she was smart and funny and seemed like just the kind of gal you would want as a friend. But these aspects of the book were outweighed by what I didn’t like.

This book read more like a list of events that had happened to Kate rather than as an interesting and engaging story. It  meandered through a few weeks of her life with seemingly no direction. We see Kate go to work. Kate goes home. Kate sees her friends. Kate pines after Adam - the forerunner in the love square. The whole book continues like this until Kate finally couples up with someone – I won’t say who – in the last 2% of the book. It was so abrupt, I thought that once again it was going to end with no clear conclusion regarding Kate’s love life. Then BAM it all sorts itself out with such a quick 180 from one of the characters (I don’t want to give spoilers!) that I was in danger of whiplash. This wasn’t story telling at its best.

I am not sure if this series is continuing or if it is duet, Kate’s story has concluded (I guess?) unless we are going for a meander into coupledom with her and her man. I won’t be in a rush to read anything further in this series; although I liked the characters in this I thought the romance was weak and I am still looking for a plot.

Last year I couldn't wait to get my hands on this sequel right after the cliffhanger ending in I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions. It was one of those situations where I wanted to scream and run around because that's how much I cared about the characters.

Unconditionally was such a breeze to read. The easy humour, absurd situations and amusing dialogues made it impossible not to laugh while reading. My only slight disappointment was with the romance. There was a shift in focus from the spotlight on Kate's love life to all sorts of other dysfunctional relationships in the world. They were entertaining to read about but I really wanted more Adam and Kate moments. The few that we got didn't quite satisfy my need.

Kate is the loveliest of characters. I loved everything about her. Her frustration, her confusion, her hesitations and even her inner snarky tone were real and relatable. She made the best with whatever life threw at her. Even during the tough times and emotional moments she held true to herself and was fair to others.

Becoming a signing lawyer had its ups and downs. Despite her life-long refusal, Kate was a star. Her inner voice was sarcastic as heck but she kept them all to herself proving she was more than capable to be mature about her new job. Kate handled her cases professionally and treated her clients with respect and without prejudice. I'm a fan of the tv show Suits so I thoroughly enjoyed all the legal proceedings in Unconditionally. I loved reading about Kate doing her job.

Of all the guys in Kate's love life, Dave was a real eyesore. I just couldn't muster up any feelings except extreme dislike for him. Besides him every other side character were agreeable and fun. Logek and Mags were supportive besties to Kate.

Unconditionally was full of humour and heart. Readers of contemporary romance must not miss out on the fun that is the Contract Killers duology. I'm eagerly looking forward to what Ms. Erin Lyon brings us next~

Thank you to NetGalley for not only providing me with the ARC in exchange for an honest review, but for providing it directly after having finished the first book!! Excellent timing!

I have a weakness for contemporary romance, especially those with witty dialogue and laugh out loud moments. This had all of those qualities with the added benefit of having a female lead who was brutally honest in both her internal dialogue as well as her conversations with her love interests. This honesty was probably the most refreshing part of this series. The funny thing about honesty is that it can help to build angst. In this case, Kate was truly torn between the men in her lives and her indecision was enough to build some angst. There wasn't a need for a tragic life event or a horrible ex to make Kate "damaged". Kate has an average life (although she does have three gorgeous men all vying for her attention) and sometimes, that's all a story needs.

Ms. Lyon, this was a great series. I loved the banter between the characters, I loved the side characters and their storylines and I loved the stories about the botched signings. The only thing that drew me away from a full 5-star rating was the re-hash of the events of book one in the early chapters of this book. I had just completed book 1, so I didn't need the refresher and it made me want to skip ahead. Otherwise, please write more like this, k?

Actual Rating 4.5 Stars.

I read the first book in the Contract Killers Duology just a few weeks ago and I fell in love with EVERYTHING about it. I Love You * Subject to the following Terms and Conditions was hilarious, awkward, romantic, filled with drama and EVERYTHING I was looking for at the moment.

Which is why I only wait a DAY after I got my paperback copy of this book for the Blog Tour to dive in – I was SO EXCITED to see what happened to Kate, Adam, Logek and the insane world they live in.

MY THOUGHTS:

1. The first book in this duology, I Love You* Subject to the following Terms and Conditions ended on one of the worst possible cliff-hangers a rom-com can leave you with and as soon as I reached the end, I was ABSOLUTELY desperate for more in this world and DESPERATE for more Kate and Adam.

2. Unconditionally managed to keep up the pace, the hilarity and the romance that book one had but also had a greater focus on Kate’s job and every kind of messed up client she met as a Signing Attorney.

3. Signing Law is one of the specialities of law in this HILARIOUS world where marriage doesn’t exist, but seven yearlong contracts instead and you can re-up, breach or let the contracts expire. I absolutely loved seeing Kate grow into and start liking her job in signing law because it made the book SO much more interesting.

4. The one thing I CRAVED in this book was EVERYTHING Erin Lyon would give me about Kate and Adam because they are #goals. Through the whole 300 page book, there were only about five – six scenes or LESS AND I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE NOW I NEED MORE. So so much more of the both of them and I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO GET IT FROM.

5. I love all the girl power in this book especially Kate’s best friends, Logek and her paralegal, Mags. They were absolutely brilliant at supporting each other and YAY FOR FRIENDSHIPS.

Unconditionally was a HILARIOUS book filled with steamy romance, friendships and awkward encounters that still has me wanting more. 4.5 stars.

I was very pleased with how this book wrapped up the story from book one, I Love You *Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions. It's been almost exactly a year since I read the first book, but the way the author started this one, she quickly gave you a review of what had happened before, but it was done in such a seamless way, it was just a natural part of the story that didn't stand out as an info dump at all. It got me right back into the story, and I was quickly sucked back in and it became hard to put down to go to work, sleep, you name it.

Once again I loved all the characters, and I was glad that Kate was strong about telling Adam she couldn't be just friends with him. I think he needed that. And I like that she was straight-forward with Dave, even if his past womanizing ways made him not quite understanding. I began to not dislike Jonathan as much either. So the way it all ended for Kate, with her three men, was the perfect ending.

We got to meet a lot of interesting clients in the first book, I mean Kate got punched! But the characters in this one, wow, they were so hilarious! You get a glimpse of one of them in the excerpt above. In the end, Kate figures out what she is best at, and if contract law will be for her.

A great couple of books. I would totally love more, maybe we could see the contract killer we have left at the end get his happy ending? I don't know. But I really enjoyed this. I look forward to reading more books by Erin Lyon in the future.

If you’re in the mood for a light read that doesn’t demand too much of your attention, this book might be a good choice.

It’s actually the second in a duology that started with I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions. In the world of the novel, people don’t get married; instead, they sign 7-year contracts with partners, with the option to renew the contract if both parties agree and penalties if either spouse breaks the terms. The central character is Kate, who in the first book was unexpectedly dumped by her partner Jonathan when their contract came up for renewal. Kate also met and became friends with Adam, a “contract killer” (a man who only dates women under contract) and Dave, a playboy who pursued the newly-single Kate. In this book, all three men express varying degrees of interest in Kate, and she has to decide which of them she truly has feelings for, all while learning the ropes of her new career as an attorney in a firm that specializes in signing law.

The romance aspect of the book isn’t really the reason to read it. The fact that Kate has three men who are interested in being with her never really takes off as a source of tension. (Really, all women should have that kind of problem.) It’s perfectly obvious who Kate is going to wind up with, or at least it was to me.

The two main strengths of this book are the female friendships and Kate’s work as a lawyer. Kate has really strong and supportive relationships with both her best friend Logek and her paralegal (and friend) Mags. The conversations between the women are some of the best in the book. As for the legal stuff—well, the author is a lawyer, and she clearly brings that experience to the story as she describes some hilarious interactions with crazy clients. Think of Kate as basically being a divorce attorney, and that will give you some idea of the kinds of experiences she encounters.

That, plus Kate’s clever and sometimes snarky observations (gotta love the snark), made the book a pleasant read for me, if not an outstanding one.

A copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley for review; all opinions expressed are my own.

This was just as good if not better than the first book. Well written, funny and touching, I was sad that it's over. A fresh voice in the genre with a easy reading style and great characters. I'm a huge fan . I had to order my own print copy!

UNCONDITIONALLY is the follow-up to I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions (Read my review), which was one of my favorite reads of 2017!

Erin Lyon's funny, romantic, and unique duet is a contemporary romance junkie's dream. The two main leads are communicate openly with each other and have a great friendship. Kate says exactly what's on her mind. I love the way Adam cares for her and how he shows it. If you're a lover of romantic comedies like me, then these are the books for you.

For the last 11 months, I've been slowly dying inside because I haven't had this book in my hands. You guys, I DEVOURED Unconditionally in a matter of hours. I tore open the package upon arrival and didn't put the book down until I was finished! This book picks up right where I Love You leaves off, so if you've read it then you understand the weight of that statement (Read: it ends in a delicious cliffhanger). In I Love You, I fell in a disgusting kind of love with Kate and Adam. There is just something about them that makes me happy when they're together, even if it's just as friends (*sad face*).

In Unconditionally, we see Kate navigating her new life as an associate in her uncle's signing law firm and her single status. She's no longer with her partner Jonathan, and she's not really sure about Dave either. Her heart really belongs to Adam (*swoon*), but he's somewhat emotionally unavailable to her.

I love Kate, you guys. I want to be her friend. I want to go over to her house and drink wine with her and Logek out of her tiger-striped wine glasses. I want to go out dancing with her. I'd even put up with her ruining dinner (#RedemptionChicken). It's refreshing to read a book character who it's melodramatic or living a fantasy life that us lowly peasants can never attain. I think that's why I like her so much—she is relatable and I could see myself being friends with her.

Of course, my favorite moments in the book involve Adam. It's actions that often speak louder than words, right? Well, that's what I loved about Adam. Even when he couldn't express how much he cared for Kate, he definitely showed it by being there for her. There are some moments between these two friends that just made my heart melt. I just wanted them to be together SO MUCH!

I loved how Kate's new landlord is Adam's mother, which gave Kate a chance at a direct examination into the world of Adam. As Lyon promised, we are given more insight into Adam and why he shies away from commitment. While the reason isn't anything, I didn't see coming, it does shed some light into where he is emotionally.

If I could ask for one thing in this book it's that I wanted more moments with Adam. This is a selfish request from me but also one that I think the novel needed. The stories about her clients in and out of court were entertaining and hilarious but I really wanted more time with him. Even though I loved these two books, I feel like this love story might have been able to be condensed into one story and still maintain its magnetic quality. I enjoyed the "fluff" in this book (and in the last one) but some of it didn't necessarily need to be there.

I am already anxiously awaiting whatever Erin Lyon comes up with next. Until then, I will be rereading these books. I've already read the ending of Unconditionally multiple times since I first finished it in November. I can't recommend these books enough. And if you've read them and you loved them, pass the love alone. I want more people to find out about these books.

* Thanks to the author for providing me with an advanced copy for review. Receiving this book for free from the author did not affect my opinion.

I was beyond excited to get to be on the Unconditionally book tour after reading the first in this series. Not only was I Love You Subject to the Following Terms and Conditions an amazing read, but it was also a cliff-hanger of sorts. So, to say that I've been eagerly anticipating Unconditionally, is an understatement.

All of the things I loved about the Ms. Lyon's freshman novel, were here, in spades!

Kate's completely endearing friendship with Logek is still an integral part of this story. What would a girl do without some amazing girlfriends?
These two seem to be soulmates, and written completely compatible with each other.

Also, my appreciation of how vulnerable-yet-tough Kate can be--hasn't changed a bit. There's no doubt in my mind that Ms. Lyon knows her characters. They all only got stronger in Unconditionally. Growing, ever-so-slightly as the story progresses.

One of the things I actually really appreciated about this story was how much more of Kate's job, the reader was able to experience. In the first, she was just starting--and seemed to be more consumed with the three men in her life.
Here, Kate seemed to be doing her best at being the best attorney possible. And, there were some really humorous moments in there thrown in!

With a happy ending (depending on which man you were rooting for), lovable characters, and incredibly talented writing, Unconditionally is a book that no one should miss!

As with the previous book, the courtroom drama is by far the most interesting part of the novel, but it is interesting enough to make it worth the read. At first I thought that Kate's alcoholism was a concious choice on the part of the writer, but I have come to conclude that it was just lazy writing. Kate drinks A LOT. As in, she goes home everyday to have a drink or she and her friends can only socialize with wine or by talking about how they need wine. A working woman who drinks a crap-ton of wine is not character development. Unless anyone in the novel actually addressed just how much wine this woman is guzzling. I mean for crying out loud, her broken wine glass is a major plot point. But all the crazy clients, that is where this book shines. And crazy they are.

I fell into this second book of the series sans the prior book. I say "fell" as I finished it off in a few hours with only minor pauses. The writing is quickly paced and the dialog is realistic. I enjoyed the many characters - all of which were fleshed out enough to draw interest, while the focus stayed on Kate, our somewhat muddled, but-getting-her-act-together heroine. Really enjoyed the book and look forward to more by author, Erin Lyon.
Disclosure: I received a copy of this from the publisher and NetGalley for (hopefully) an honest review.

Note: I didn't read the first book. That said, this was adorable! It is a really quick, fluff book filled with great quips and banter between the characters.
