I really enjoyed this first-in-series set in a small, seaside town in New England. The characters are all likeable in their way, yet each has their own strengths to add to the story: Allie, a smart ballerina taking a break from her career to heal from an injury and help her aunt; Lorel, Allie's sister and a practical businesswoman; and Aunt Gully, kindhearted owner of the Lazy Mermaid, a lobster shack. When the judges of a lobster roll contest get poisoned and one of them dies, Allie ends up investigating to help clear her aunt's name and her own name. The plot moves at the perfect pace, with plenty of twists and turns. I was surprised by the ending. While the mysteries in the book were solved, I was still left wanting more of the town and the characters, so I'm looking forward to the second book in the series!
I love a good cozy mystery and what could be better than one set in my backyard? Mystic Bay is hosting a food competition for the best Lobster roll. My mouth is watering as the judges take the first bite..... but wait they instantly get sick! Food poisoning or murder?
What a GREAT start to a brand new cozy mystery series! This book has all the twists and turns that readers would expect from the genre and has characters that will easily worm their way into readers hearts. I can't wait until the next installment.
Curses, Boiled Again! (A Lobster Shack Mystery #1) by Shari Randall is a fun cozy mystery with lots of twists and turns. A friendly town but someone wants to save the lobsters! A celebrity coming to town to do lobster tasting, lots of interesting characters, a poisoning, a murder, vandalism, and lots of craziness! A cute story with many twists and a cute read.
A small New England town where lobster and murder is on the menu, yes please. The characters are fun, friendly, and quirky. The descriptions of the lobster rolls made my mouth water. A strong female character who has zero background in crime solving figures out who-done-it makes for a deliciously, cozy murder mystery book. And yes, while it might be possible for the reader figure out the murderer, there is still a great twist at the end. Hopefully there will be another book in this series. This is a wonderful quick, entertaining read to distract you from life.
This is a fun cozy mystery that will make you want to visit Maine and eat your own lobster roll. Allie and her sister Loral are helping their Aunt Gully try to put her new lobster shack restaurant on the map by winning a food festival contest when murder intervenes and Gully becomes a prime suspect. Although Allie is a ballet dancer and only visiting in Mystic Bay to recover from an accident she soon worms her way into the investigation to clear her beloved aunt's name. This book has interesting characters, a plot with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing all the way through and most of all a wonderful sense of what it is like to live in Maine. I highly recommend it.
