It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I enjoyed it and it was easy to read but didn't pull me in or get me to invest in the characters much. Thanks for the read.
This story certainly comes with all of the fixings you expect in a good paranormal romance. I am really liking Alphaville so far.
Renny & Mick have fantastic chemistry which makes it very believable that they would be destined mates. Mick lost his previous mate and is still angry and bitter, so he is not sold right away on the fact that he could possibly have another but their is no denying the draw between them and the overwhelming sense of possessiveness and protectiveness he feels for this beautiful wolf. Renny is so smart and independent and I admire that considering everything she is going through. I really like both of them and together they are simply hot! When they give into their destiny it is a beautiful thing.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Alphaville is set in the same world as Warren's Others series, which I haven't read. I might have a better idea what it means to be an alpha in this world if I had, but in general I don't feel like I'm missing any important details. I have read some of her Gargoyles series and like with Alphaville so far, I love the ideas behind it, but the execution is just okay.
Mick and Renny are a book nerd's dream couple, a graphic novelist and a librarian. Some of my favorite moments are when she talks about his work. But he also has a throw the woman over his shoulder and drag her back to his cave moment that I could do without. It's very similar to that same moment in the prequel novella and in general, I feel like there are too many similarities between the romances in the two stories.
I did like getting to meet more of Alpha's residents this time. I love the variety of shifter types, which includes badgers and wolverines in addition to the usual wolves, bears and cats, as well as the variety of personalities. I'm always a fan of small towns with big personalities. What I like most about this particular story are the police procedural elements, even though it's not actually told from a police POV. It is setting up Deputy Zeke for his own book so I have high hopes for the next one in the series.
Renny is on the run from an obsessive madman and her last chance at finding a place can be safe is Alpha, Washington, but when it is within her grasp, her car dies and she knows her stalkers are right behind her. She runs into the woods and is almost caught by the coyotes after her. The only reason she finds herself still alive is that of the wolf who shoots at her pursuer and just in the nick of time too. Mick wants nothing from the female wolf he rescues but he can't just let her die in his front yard, so he brings her into his home and calls for help. What he doesn't like is that the moment she shifts into her human self, he can't keep his eyes off her and when it is decided, and not by him, that she should stay the night in his home while she recovers from her injuries he can't stop himself from feeling glad that he was to have her under his roof for a bit more time. Mick lost his mate and he doesn't know why he didn't follow her into death, but when Renny comes into his life, his wolf won't stop telling him that she is their mate. He tries to resist her and to push her away, but with each attempt on her life, he grows more and more determined to protect her and to have her. Renny is confused by Mick's behavior; when they first meet his behavior screams that he wants nothing to do with her, but then he projects protective and domineering tendencies and when he mate-claims her she is just utterly confused, but deep down she hopes that they can work things out, because she is falling in love fast and hard. I loved the characters and the concept of Alpha, Washington. This new series by Christine Warren has great potential. The villains were so easy to hate and Renny is such a strong female protagonist. I️ didn’t like how quickly Mick caves to his desire for Renny. He lost his mate and from the moment Renny runs onto his land he gives off strong vibes of how much her presence isn’t wanted but then suddenly he bites and claims her as his mate and then he goes on like it is a done deal. His resistance went from strong to nonexistent and then he was pissed when she had doubts about his commitment. Their adventure was exciting. The dynamic between Renny and Mick was great. The action exciting. The passion intense and nonstop. It was a second chance at love for Mick and a second chance at happiness for Renny. I will definitely read more in this series. All of the secondary characters were strong and stood on their own and I️ can’t wait for each of their stories too.
3 1/2 ☆
Great shifter romance story. First Christine Warren story I've read but it won't be my last. It was action packed right from the get go, although it slowed down a bit to make room for the development of the relationship between Mick and Renny. Which was hot and sexy. A cool and new story about a town of different shifter animals living together. Entertaining beginning to a new series. I haven't read any of her other shifter stories but I'm looking forward to it now.

Terrific book! Interesting take on being a “fated mate”. Mick lost his mate and survived it, an unusual occurrence. Renny is running from an insane Alpha when she arrives beaten and bloody on his doorstep. They are fated mates, but one of them fights it. Good story. I’m anxious to read more about this town !
A passionate, sexy, and heartbreaking story that grips you from the first page sucking you into the story until the very end.
The characters must face not only external threats, but also their own inner demons, lending an extra depth and drama to the story. I can't wait until the next one in the series, but I would advise that you have read the previous series since this new one is set in the same world.
Something to howl about by christine warren.
Annie Cryer has arrived at alphaville. She is doing a favour for her alpha of her clan as she has been banished from her clan. If she does this favour then the banishment will be lifted. But she doesn't realise she will meet her mate here? And that he is not what she thinks?
Fantastic read with great characters. Loved how annie and jonas were together. Looking forward to reading the next one. 5*. Netgalley and st martins press.
I got this free for an honest review from netgalley.
I have read a few books from Christine Warren so she is not a new author to me but I think it's the first review I have written so far. This book was well written, enjoyable and entertaining I read this book in one day I enjoyed it so much and wanted to find out what happened to the main two people from the story. I hope some of the side people have there own books in the future. I would highly recommend this book to other people who are looking for a highly entertaining story to read this is it. I hope there are other books in the series to come and that they atre as good if not better and look forward to other books from Warren.
Gifted read by netgalley, honest opinion follows.
1. Town called alpha but yet no alpha tendencies noted.
2. Storyline had the potential to be a strong, character driven story but fell short!
3. No connections with the characters.
4. Smexy times ahhh that'd be a epic fail!
5. With all the different shifters potential to be a good story but was boring and the climax was anticlimactic, fight scenes again boring!
6. No epilogue!
Baby, I’m Howling For you by Christine Warren
I was gifted this book to read on netgalley, for most of the story I did enjoy.
Alphaville, is the new series by Christine. I have read her work in the pass, to be honest she is a hit or miss for me. I nice and easy in between story. With this one, Renny Landry is on the run for her life, she is a wolf. Mick Fischer is a sad, brooding alpha who lost his mate, but fate has something different installed for these two.
The story is quick passed, nothing but a good action, suspense romantic story with some crazy Coyotes after the main heroine. I enjoyed both characters they both felt real with each having their own littles flaws.
I think all Christine Warren fans will enjoy her new story in her Alphaville series.
Overall 3.75 Stars.
Arc was received for an honest review.
Fun new author I discovered and now I am hooked. Fun read with memorable characters.
Mick and Renny were awesome in this story I loved how their relationship almost didn’t happen because he was to Alpha for his own good. The town of Alpha was a perfect blend of shifters I loved every character that was introduced and can just see them having their own book. This was an amazing read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

What a great read! This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed this one! This is the story of Mick and Renny. Renny, a librarian, is running from a crazed stalker intent on making her his and is trying to make it the Alpha, Washington where she believes she can find sanctuary and help. Mick is doing fine being alone with his writing, when Renny ends up bloody outside his front door. After chasing away the coyotes intent on kidnapping and hurting her, Mick realizes that Renny is his mate. I liked this story a lot, full of suspense, action and hot intense love making between the mated pair. I liked that Renny was not a push over and that she was intelligent and strong. The other characters definitely deserve their own story. They all were an integral part but it did not detract from the main story. Very well written and the story moved at a steady pace. 4.5 stars!!!! I would have rated it a 5 star, if not for Mick's attitude toward Renny in the beginning, he was a Class A jerk, though he did amend his attitude rather quickly. Lol. Fantastic!!! Seems like there is as book before this one called Something To Howl About which doesn't come out until 1/2/18. I'll be reading Jonas and Annie's story as soon as it it available for purchase.
Renny, a red wolf shifter, is running for her life from a maniacal coyote alpha. Heading for the shifter town of Alpha, she is caught by one of the coyote enforcers sent to bring her back . Barely making it to a clearing in the woods that holds a cabin, she is wounded. The cabin owner saves her life and runs the attackers off. The town bands behind her to protect her and get the kidnappers. Liked the characters, but the story was lacking in originality for me. Good writing and side characters. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Netgalley.
I love this author and am so happy she decided to start a new shifter romance series. For those who don’t let me instaromance this may not be for you but it’s a great start to a new series. I like be how the hero “alpha male” does not overpower the heroine and they have a good balance between the two. Also like the supporting characters and cannot wait to read more.

I received a digital ARC of this novel courtesy of NetGalley and St. Martin's Press in exchange for a honest and voluntary review.
What I liked:
I liked the fast pace of the story.
I liked the whole idea of Alpha, the town -- where any shifter that doesn't fit certain standards is accepted.
I liked the characters I met as I was reading --- Molly, Zeke, the mayor (whose name I can't quite remember at the moment). And I'm looking forward to reading their stories.
What I didn't like:
I wish Renny (the heroine) was more kickass, like Molly. I found her a little too meek and beta for my own tastes.
Thank you for the opportunity to review this book. I have always enjoyed Ms. Warren’s books and this one did not disappoint. The grouchy, insulated, damaged hero Mick, and the in-trouble heroine Renny had sparks flying!!! Even though Mick was resistant at first due to his personal tragedy, no wolf can resist the call of their mate. I have always enjoyed that about shifter books, and this preordained match seemed to come together seamlessly. The plot was believable, and the only glitch that had me out of sorts was that Mick was on the edge of fatal defeat at the end and had to be rescued by Renny— would have preferred the big, bad Alpha smack down. After all, that was what the book was about. Overall, a well written book that fans will love
When I first noticed this book on NetGalley I skipped right past it due to the dreadful corny title but then I noticed all the reviews were 4 and 5* so I decided to give it a try.
I really should have stuck with my first impression. I don’t know if it was me or the book but it just didn’t work for me, it dragged and took me days and days to read in fact I ended up skimming just to get to the end.
I didn’t particularly like the writing style and there wasn’t enough story to fill the pages.
Basically Renny is on the run from a dangerous stalker and she’s heading to Alpha, a safe place for shifters where she meets her mate, settles into town and her stalker arrives you know how it goes from here.

Book Review:
Pre-reading Thoughts:
To be honest, I requested this book on Netgalley because of the title. It makes ma laugh every single time. Moving past the title thought, I am kind go excited to see what happens in this book. It has been while since I have read a werewolf book.
Thank you so much to the publishers and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book! Just a small disclaimer for those reading this review. I have received this book in exchange for an honest review. Please note that this does not affect my opinion in any way. All thoughts are my own
Writing Thoughts;
The writing in this book was good. The dialogue was entertaining and natural. I only had one problem and that was that there wasn't always enough detail. Sometimes there enough detail to create a vivid image but then there times where there wasn't enough detail. I really liked how the author planned out her chapters. She kept me wanting to read the book.
Plot Thoughts:
This book followed the traditional werewolf story arc. But the author knew just how to make it unique and her own. I liked how we started with action and ended off with some action. It kept the story fast paced and entertaining. There were moments where I felt like the meetings continued for a little too long. Werewolf books always have problematic elements such as marking another person without their consent and the whole idea that women are meant to submissive. While the whole marking thing was without consent, I liked how the author didn't make the women in this book submissive. Instead she empowered them to an extent.
Character Thoughts:
Renny was a very cautious character but she was also very caring. She knew what she wanted and she went for it. However, there were moments where she contradicted herself. Molly was probably my favourite character. She was funny but she stood up for her friends when it was called for.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting and despite being able to guess what might happen, I was pleasantly surprised every now and again. The writing in this book was food but every now and again there wasn't enough detail. The plot followed a traditional werewolf book arc but the author made it unique. The characters were interesting and each had their own quirks but I liked Molly more than anyone else. This book does contain sex scenes so I would not recommend this for young viewers. Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publishers for providing me with a copy.
Yours in Reading,
Melleny
