First, let me say, I love Christine Warren's book. This is the start of a new series, which while intriguing, left me wanting. The story was good, but seemed short, while the storyline seemed rushed. I liked the characters, but felt some were not fully developed and just thrown in to add people to the story. The main characters left me disappointed, the stalking storyline ended with a whimper instead of a bang. I was more interested in the rest of cast. It felt like the world building and humor in her other series wasn't quite there in this book. This in no way will prevent me from looking for the next book in the series because of the backup characters who I loved, like Molly, Zeke and the mayor. I will also not prevent me from reading and enjoying those books she has written or will write in the future. I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.
Wolves mate for life. Despite losing his, each day Mick faces the struggle to hold on to his sanity although he's not sure why. Renny is on the run from a stalker when Mick saves her life. Although each feel the mate bond, it couldn't have come at a worse time. Mick is still emotionally scarred and Renny doesn't know if her life can take one more complication. I've read Christine Warren's The Others series for years, but I struggled with this installment. The emotional conflict over Mick's deceased mate was defused way too quickly, leaving the stalker to drive the plot. This is disappointing as the fact that Mick survived losing a mate is infinitely more interesting. As usual, Warren writes HOT sexy times & great secondary characters. Although this book wasn't for me, it spiked my interest in the other citizens of Alpha & I look forward to other entries in the series--especially the lion shifter mayor.
This was a well written paranormal story. filled with stalkers, junkie shifters, action, adventure, and romance. Each of the characters held their own in the story. I loved the mayor, deputy, and town rich guy. the description of the fight scene was great. I would recommend this story to anyone who loves paranormal romance stories.
I totally adored Mick! The grieving widower had a few anger issues that he expressed artistically, but there is no denying he falls hard for Renny. Even when he argued with his wolf-something I found highly entertaining-it was obvious to everybody how he felt about her. I loved his respect for Renny’s intelligence and appreciated that he didn’t reign in her independence. Mick tried to go over Renny’s head a few times in the best interest of her safety, but he learned fairly quick it was in his favor to just communicate with her.
Renny was intelligent and amusing in her attempts to manage her situation in the face of three alpha males. For someone with a crazy stalker and a streak of bad luck, she maintained a positive outlook on her circumstances and never did the whole damsel in distress bit. Instead, and much to Mick’s chagrin, she jumped straight into the fray. Her feelings for Mick took a little hammering for her to realize what she really meant to him (understandable given their initial meeting) but their romance was sweet and combustibly satisfying!
I first stumbled on Christine Warren through her Gargoyle series and fell in charm with her witty and jocular writing style! Happily, Alphaville is in the same vein and I am definitely looking forward to further entries!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley.
I haven’t read this authors Others series so I’m not sure if I’m missing it on some crossover characters or not but i enjoyed this. Mick and Renny have the whole shifter mate-instalove thing but it works here, i liked how they were together and the scenes between them were combustible. All in all, great fast paced shifter read.
This was a complimentary advanced reader copy gifted to me by the author /publisher in exchange for a honest review via Netgalley.
Apart from the really corny title this is an enjoyable read.
Renny a wolf shifter is on the run from a crazed coyote stalker, she is hoping to find sanctuary in Alpha a town known to be a safe place for shifters, the first person she encounters there, whilst being attacked by members of her stalkers pack is Mick another wolf. Although he rescues her he appears very taciturn and indifferent, but it's obvious there is a connection between them both realising they are destined to be mated. Mick has lost a mate 10 years previously and resists this bond at first as he knows it would kill him to loose another mate.
A cast of characters that are amusing, a stalker who will stop at nothing to get to Renny and you have the makings of a good tale.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book honestly.
Very good book. Lots of action, love, and of course werewolves! I'm excited to learn more about Alphaville.
This is my first book by Christine Warren. This is a spin off of her "Others" series and the first book in the series. I really enjoyed this book. This was about Renny and Mick who are werewolves. This book introduces us to the town of Alpha. It is a refuge for others and Renny needs help. Mick and his friends help Renny get rid of the bad guys chasing her and Mick and Renny help each other and fall in love.
The writing is good and the sex scenes are hot. I will go back and read the "Others" series to catch up. I found a new author
I found Baby, I'm Howling for You to be a fun, engaging read. I loved the premise, and the characters were well rounded and likeable. I thought there was an excellent balance between romance and action. My only minor gripe was that the ending felt a little rushed. I am just coming back to MF PNR after taking a bit of a break from it and reading other things, so this was a good book to connect me to the genre once more. It's a solid 4-star read for me, and I think it will appeal to any and all PNR readers.
Great start to a new series. Warren has gone back to Were world of Others. I don’t know if this is supposed to be a spin-off of her previous Other books or she is just keeping the terminology. Renny has been running for an obsessed stalker. She is a strong character and no damsel in distress. Mick wants to deny that Renny is his mate but the danger she is in trumps his denial. He is pretty hot and bad***.
A big thank you to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I have read a lot of Ms Warren 's work, I think her paranormal books are really good. This is a bit predictable, but still has some elements of surprise and a lot of heat. It's the first in a new series. Looking forward to the next! I rate this a 4. I think most paranormal readers will enjoy this book. Give it a go and let me know.
