Baby, I'm Howling For You by Christine Warren
Alphaville #1

I love a good shapeshifter story that is a bit quirky, has great characters, makes me care and want to be there. This book did that and left me wanting more books to read in the series.

Renny Landry is nearly run to ground by the henchmen of the man who has been stalking her. She is exhausted and wounded when she finally loses consciousness on the property of alpha wolf shifter Mick Fischer. His shotgun sends the coyotes running and then the story really picks up. When Renny comes to she has three BIG men, all shifters, standing above her with a female shifter EMT tending her wounds. She tells her story, seeks asylum and takes note that Mick is more than likely her fated mate. Getting him to realize it and accept the mate idea, dealing with Geoffrey and his psychotic pals, finding her place in Alpha and a sizzling romance are all part of this story that left me happy and eager for more love stories set in Alpha.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Just couldn’t get into it. Just started out so good then blah...I skimmed to the end. I really couldn’t get into the characters. Mick was so unlikable. He started out moody and broody then bam he just healed himself. I liked Renny at first but then she seemed to dissolve away into blah.

It my cup of tea. Had so much promise. I hate to put it in my read shelf because I skimmed about 40%...but oh well

In a Flutter: Alpha yummy
Fluttering Thoughts:
Worldbuilding: I love the sense of community that Alphaville, Washington gives me. There’s some small town magic going on.
Characters: Renny’s entrance is exciting and suspenseful. Plus she’s a librarian. Add those things, and you have instant girl-crush material. I mean, how much cuter could she be?
Mick is a grumpy hot alpha who lost his first mate years ago, plus he’s a famous graphic novelist, with hot tattoos and everything. Hello, book boyfriend! And he’s got a stellar snarky personality. I mean, come on! I loved his dynamics with Zeke and Jaeger too. The whole cast is really good.
The pair had instant chemistry, hotness galore. I love this animal magnetism thing xD
Plot: The trope is a really cool twist on the insta-mates/reluctant werewolf mate, since the reluctant one is the guy here. You can imagine how much tension there was in the story, with the stalker part very active and engaging too.
Writing: Third person, past tense narrative, his/her POV. I actually enjoyed Mick’s voice more – the man is a riot! A grumpy riot aka the best kind.
Curb Appeal: Cool cover, hooking blurb – werewolves PNR impulsive buy material.

I recommend Baby, I’m Howling For You to fans of PNR that involves groups/communities of cool characters, nice action outside of the romance, and insta-mate stories with a nice twist.

Renny is a wolf shifter on the run for her life. She’s trying to reach Alphaville when she runs out of gas and is chased through the forest by the coyotes charged with bringing her back to the one who is obsessed with her. With a light in the distance as her only hope, she pushes herself onward despite her injuries.

Mick lost his mate eight years ago and he’s been waiting for death to take him since that moment. It’s the way of the wolf, to follow their mate into the afterworld. Until that time arrives he remains reclusive and shut off from forming any close attachments. When he rescues Renny his wolf immediately takes notice of her and demands they claim her as their own.

Renny and Mick together were wonderful. I loved that he was all alpha wolf with her despite his initial reticence about her being his mate. Renny accepted Mick but knew that he might never be able to reciprocate her feelings. Nevertheless, she persevered, knowing that he was it for her. She was strong and feisty, willing to yield to him when necessary but also capable of standing strong by his side when needed. Their chemistry was sizzling and their relationship was what romance novels are all about.

I guess haven’t read enough shifter books to really appreciate the protective alpha wolf aspect of the genre. I am totally sold on it now. This was a fast paced read with lots of action, great secondary characters and plenty of steam. The hero’s previous mate was worrisome but the author put my mind at ease regarding Mick’s feelings for his first mate as compared to Renny.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I’m excited to see what capers the next couple will get into.

Dual POV
Safety – no ow drama; om drama is not from someone h was involved with but from an obsessed stalker
Possible triggers – the villain wants to kidnap and rape her

I liked it, it was enjoyable but it had it fluctuated in keeping my attention. Renny, a wolf-coyote hybrid, is on the run from a crazy coyote and his pack.

Traumatized, stalked and attempt rape (more than once) does make for the right mind space to fall for an uber alpha, controlling wolf.

I received this ARC copy of Baby, I'm Howling for You from St. Martin's Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. Baby, I'm Howling for You is set for publication Jan 30, 2018.

I had the pleasure of reading Christine Warren’s newest book Baby, I’m Howling for you. I have to say it was nonstop action from the beginning. The characters were well developed and the plot was outstanding. It had a nice balance of humor, action, and sexual tension.
It’s centered around Renny a red wolf on the run from a psychotic coyote who has obsessed over her. She attempts to stay one step ahead of him and his demented “friends”, Renny knows her only chance for a normal life and possible safety is Alpha. A town made up of shifters of all species who don’t fit in anywhere else.
Mick is an Alpha loner wolf who is still grieving the loss of his mate after many years. He has no intention of getting dragged into relationships or anyone’s drama, yet that all changes when a little red wolf stumbles upon his property and with coyotes on her tail, literally! Mick manages to scare off the coyotes but he is still left with an injured wolf who collapses at his feet.
Geoffrey the obsessive coyote with delusional thoughts and a need to possess Renny. He’ll kill anything that gets in his way. As the story went on, my distain of him grew but personally you need a good villain to balance out the book.
You are introduced to some interesting residents of Alpha, Molly an EMT, who has a sharp tongue and wicked sense of humor. Her brother Zeke, a local deputy who you can’t seem to hate but will roll your eyes a few times at his comments.
These are only a few of the amazing characters Christine Warren has managed to create and bring to life.
This story will take you on an adventure, you’ll discover the true meaning on surviving at all cost and finding your place even when you think your world is crumbling down around you. The residents of Alpha won’t disappoint you, Renny finds her family in the darkest of times.

I highly recommend this book.

Baby, I'm Howling for You is a fast paced, well told PNR. The author has a gift for phrasing that makes this book a total delight.
Red wolf shifter Renny Landry is on the run. She has been chased from California all the way to the outskirts of Alpha, Washington where she collapses exhausted and wounded on the doorstep of alpha wolf shifter Mick Fischer. Mick is somewhat of a recluse hiding from his pain and his past but he isn’t going to let anything hurt the wolf at his door. What he doesn’t know is that that she wolf is about to shake his world up in the very best of ways. That is if he can keep her alive.
Lust, a bit of manly angst, female guilt, a whole lot of fun from the townsfolk, danger and love make this a terrific read.

I waffled a bit on rating this one. The premise is really good and the story starts with a pull you in chase scene. My problem was that the story seemed to be almost suspended about halfway through, things were happening, but it wasn't really moving forward. Then, once it does gather some momentum and move forward, it's full speed ahead to the conclusion. What saved it for me was the wonderful cast of characters in this town. In fact, I found many of the secondary characters just as interesting, if not more so, than Renny and Mick. Make no mistake, Renny and Mick are good together and I enjoyed their banter. The dialogue overall was a big plus for me and the author's wit and sarcasm is great. The great characters and witty dialogue won me over and I will be interested to see what's next for this town of quirky shifters.

Christine Warren's new series Alphaville, starts off with a really good book called Baby I'm Howling for You, which starts off with a chase scene and continues to be fast paced all the way to the last page!

Renny Landry, the main character in this book is running from a pack of coyotes and she is headed for Alphaville to finally get away. She makes it all the way to Mick Fisher an alpha wolf, who helps her and he knows immediately there is something special with this woman but does not want to admit it.

What follows is a great story filled with a great plot, serious mental and sexual angst, and a war that won't soon be forgotten by the city of Alphaville! On top of all this two people find their happily ever afters. Christine Warren gives us all of this in her new book. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

I gave this book 5***** fantastical stars!

Honestly, I didn't finish this. I found it derivative and poorly-written, so I just couldn't make it worth my time.

This is a exciting first book to this series. It's starts out with a bang and keeps going. I just loved it! Like I said above Warren's shifters are my favorite and Baby, I'm Howling For You reminded me why.

Right away your heart will pound with fear for poor Renny. She has spent so much of her time running from evil. When her time is almost up she's lucky enough to run into Mick Fischer. He's a true lone wolf. He knows the people in town but isn't really involved with them. Since he's lost his mate and home he keeps to himself.

Mick might have already found his mate and lost her but life has a way of messing with you in the way of a new mate.

Right away you know these two are perfect for each other. Mich and the town band behind Renny and make her feel at home. She was so lucky to find these people. The story ends well and you are satisfied with the outcome.

Not only that but you get to meat so many wonderful new characters. Characters that you can't wait for their stories. The most notable is John the mayor, Zeke and Molly and I can't forget Linus...he's a tiger! Told you there was a tiger in the series!

Each of these characters will make you want more of this series.

WELCOME TO ALPHAVILLE, where the she-wolves and alpha-males play. . .for keeps.

Renny Landry is a wolf on the run. Pursued by a shapeshifting stalker and his slobbering pack of killer coyotes, she is forced to flee her job as a librarian to find sanctuary in the wooded hills of Alpha, Washington. A well-secluded safe space for troubled shifters, Alpha is Renny’s last hope. But the first person she meets there is a gorgeous alpha male with fiery eyes, fierce tattoos, and one ferocious appetite—for her…

Mick Fischer thought he left his past behind when he moved to Alpha. But fate has a way of biting him in the tail when a female wolf shows up on his property. Wounded, desperate—and disarmingly hot—Renny brings out the snarling, protective alpha beast in Mick like no other woman he’s known. Can these two haunted, hunted wolves manage to mate for life…even as the deadliest past demons howl at their heels?

Review:
This is the first full-length book in this new series. There is a prequel novella, Something To Howl About that gave those who read it a peek at this place called Alpha and it's inhabitants.

In this story we have Renny, who is running for her life from the psychotic alpha from her previous town. When she is chased unto Mick's land, he comes to her rescue. Mick has had a mate and lost her years ago to an attack. Once Renny comes into his life his life and thoughts of never having another mate are changed. Then, Mick and Renny must fight their common enemy and figure out their mating.

This is an exciting story from page one, with Renny fighting off coyotes. Then the constant barrage of attacks from them on Renny and the town. I loved the whole backstory and how Mick and Renny are tied together. I really liked Renny and Mick together, they are both strong and vulnerable in different ways, which make them more interesting. They have great chemistry and the intimate scenes are excellently written. I really liked the supporting characters and cannot wait to read about them in the following books in the series.

If you are looking for a good shifter romance, then I would highly recommend this one.

I so loved this. I fell in love with this town when I read the prequel novella. This town, Alpha, is like a sanctuary. Where you can start over with your life as long as you are a shifter, Alpha is also the only town to be one hundred percent shifter only. Renny has been on the run for months now and she believes that if she can make it to Alpha then the crazy coyote stalking her will give up. She only needs to make it there in one piece. Mick led a tough life and all he wants now is to be left alone and forget about the past. Being alone and miserable is his penance. One night he hears the unmistakable sound of fighting and blood he goes outside to find a female red wolf being attacked by a pack of coyotes. Mick scares off the coyotes and brings in the woman. Mick realizes right off that she is his mate, but Mick fights it, he doesn't deserve another mate but when he learns she has been stalked he will protect her especially after he finds out it's someone from his own past.

I loved that Mick called Renny "little red" instead of just Red. I loved the story and characters, there were some really funny part I couldn't help but laugh out loud at them. Christine Warren really created one heck of a town great active setting and nice character development. I look forward to more, especially the mayor's story.

Baby, I'm Howling For You is the first novel in the new Alphaville Series, though there is an introduction novella, Something to Howl About. Christine Warren has brought all my favorite elements of hers to this new series. Strong, overprotective alphas who are also teachable along with smart, quick-witted, and spunky women in a well thought out paranormal story. Ms. Warren writes in a clear concise manner that at the same time allows for humor and wit. You can see that in even the tongue-in-cheek titles of the books. I love it.

The pacing is fast without being hasty so that character development is short changed. I liked Renny she is funny, upbeat, and intelligent. Even though I knew that she would not be able to handle the danger coming after her by herself, I liked that she wanted too. This is not a women waiting to be saved. I was charmed by Mick who has suffer losses, still has issues but strives to find appropriate ways to deal. They make a well-balanced match who find each other in this howling good-time story.

Baby, I'm Howling For You by Christine Warren was given to me thru Net Galley for an honest review. I truly loved and enjoyed Baby, I'm Howling For You. Welcome to Alpha, where shifters can live without looking over their shoulders, be themselves, and not to care what others think about them. Renny Landry is the newest resident of Alpha, Washington. Fleeing from a volatile stalker and his goons, she makes her way to Alpha and right towards Mick Fischer. Mick Fischer is stunned when he comes across an injured red wolf shifter just outside his home, along with other scents that make him on edge. One thing that Mick is having a hard time about is how his wolf is taken by Renny and her wolf, not to long his human side starts to agree with his wolf. The story continues to unfold, you get a sense of how everyone is in Alpha, of how they come together. One great example is when Renny's stalker and his goons under estimate the very core of the town and its people. Baby, I'm Howling For You is a sensational pararomance with fast paced action, steamy scenes, and mixed with some humor.

I recently read a novella set in the town of Alphaville and if honest was a little disappointed but I nevertheless thought I'd give this full length story a go. Happily it has a lot more meat to it with a wolf shifter trying to escape her stalker and those who work for him. Plus it starts with a bang as Renny quite literally falls at the feet of her Mate ! Now I'm not always a huge fan of that predictable trope but I did like that Mick has a backstory that freakishly connects with the situation Renny is in. Obviously my lips are sealed but sometimes fate is a very strange thing.
Still I mustn't digress so will say I liked that the romantic moments weren't too frequent or dragged out for far too much of the book. Renny isn't afraid to fight by her mans side even if he doesn't want her to which did make me smile. We have really nasty villains here but best of all a set of supporting characters that I'd really like the author to revisit. I thought some things dragged a wee bit but overall I was entertained by these shifters.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Renny Landry is on the run from a psycho coyote shifter and his merry band of followers. Followers who'd be just as happy to kill her than save her for their crazy alpha. But Renny's managed to get to the right place, a safe place: Alpaha, Washington. Oh and she's made it to Mick Fischer's property, and Mick's not going to let anything happen to her!

Mick's lived a solitary life for the past eight years, but Renny's presence wakes something up inside him that he'd long thought would never happen. She's woken up his mating instinct . . . and his wolf is howling to protect her.

But when communications get crossed and there's so many hurdles to jump and safety concerns around every corner, can Mick and Renny's mating call overcome it all?

Man, I am so enjoying this Alphaville series and Baby, I'm Howling for You was a great full start to the series. I really enjoyed all my time spent with Renny and Mick. Loved how their relationship developed and how they worked through their feelings, hopes and fears. And I really enjoyed getting to know more of the crazy town's folk! This series is just getting started and I can't wait for more!

Baby, I’m Howling For You by Christine Warren is the first full length novel in the Alphaville series. There is a prequel novella that opened up the series that came before this book but it’s not really necessary to have read that to enjoy this installment of the series. The novella simply introduced readers to the town of Alphaville where shifters have set up a safe haven for all types of shifters to come and live in harmony. The main characters are different between the books though so that each have a new couple of shifters that find they are mates.

In this book Renny Landry is on the run from a stalker that has sent a group to capture her and puts all her faith that she will find Alphaville and it will offer her safety. As she runs from her pursuers she finds a cabin outside of the town that is occupied by Mick Fischer just in time for Mick to save Renny from the attackers. Renny soon finds herself surrounded by the good citizens of Alphaville who are determined to help protect her from her stalker as she and Mick also find that they are fated to be mates.

Christine Warren certainly made Baby, I’m Howling For You a entertaining read by throwing in a bit of danger into this romantic fantasy read. There was always something happening in the story from the bad guys attacks to the steamy moments that come from a newly mated shifter couple. Renny and Mick were great main characters that I liked along with the other shifters in the town helping them along. I completely enjoyed this addition to the series and look forward to seeing more of the residents from Alphaville in the future installments of the series.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

It's been quite a while since I have read a werewolf book, and even longer since I have read Christine Warren. I can't say why other than I am behind on her series and I just haven't had time to catch up lately. Anywho, I really like the premise of this new series she has created in Alpha, Washington - a town full of misfit shifters who don't quite fit in elsewhere or with packs of their own kind.

Renny Landry has always heard about the almost mythical Alphaville, but she knows that making it to the town is her last chance to get away from the danger on her tail (literally). Being pursued by goons sent by an obsessed stalker coyote, Renny is both so close but also not quite close enough when she makes her last desperate attempt for freedom. But fate intervenes and sends Renny into the path of a reclusive alpha werewolf that could be her salvation, and much more. Renny was a pretty good heroine. She wasn't a runner, which was a plus. Sometimes I did feel like she was too nonchalant about her safety, but I understood her wanting to start a new life and not feel like she was running scared all the time.

Mick Fischer is a brooding and reclusive alpha werewolf who came to Alpha after the death of his first mate. He is grumpy and growly and not a people person - my favorite kind of hero! I liked that he was an author of graphic novels and wished we would have had a little more info about that aspect of his life. But Mick was distracted for the bulk of the novel by our heroine, and his attempts to keep her safe from a pack of wild coyotes. I like the care and possessiveness he exhibited toward our heroine, and was glad he got over his reluctance to mate fairly quickly. I would have liked to know how his second mating was possible, but my imagination supplied a reason for me so I suppose that's good enough.

This story is of the fated mates trope, so you can expect things to move fast between our couple. Once that animal attraction kicks in, they have no choice but to follow their instincts. I like this fast-moving trope when we are in the paranormal/urban fantasy realm because I like to see the inner beast controlling things. The shapeshifters in this story seem to be more integrated with their beast so they have the drives, but they don't have the separate bestial personality that you see in some books. Their consciousness works the same whether they are in human or animal form.

So I was into the suspense and back story that we got with our heroine and her stalker. Based on the premise and the blurb, I thought this book would have more of a darker theme. However, this story is fairly light-hearted given the sadistic villain. So there was a mix of fun and fear for our heroine, with likable secondary characters who kept us entertained while the testosterone-filled alphas worked to track down the bad guys. I am looking forward time to spending time with some of these secondary characters in their own books, and I think they may even eclipse Renny and Mick for me with their big personalities.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher, St. Martin's Press.
