Great read! Really enjoyed Nixie and Nash's story.
"There was nothing peaceful about Nash. He was like an expertly designed explosion, burning so hot he singed my hair, seared my lungs."
Nash Knight likes uncomplicated. He enjoys flings and the next big deal. The only people he truly lets himself love are his twin nephew and niece. He doesn't rescue damsels in distress.
"I'd been trying to look away from Nixie since the first moment I set eyes on her."
Nixie Rowland likes keeping a low profile. She not interested in relationships or even flings. She just wants to get through her college course and make it to her 25th birthday. She doesn't believe that she needs rescuing.
"I liked Nixie, a lot. She made me smile, and my heart beat against my lungs like a caged animal. She made me feel things...things I couldn't put a name to. Not yet, anyway."
I absolutely loved the chemistry between these two main characters. Nash is undeniably drawn to Nixie. He definitely wants to bed her but she's not interested in a fling. However, she can't help her attraction to the gorgeous Black Knight of Wall Street, as he slowly chips away at her resistance.
I loved how Nash felt compelled to stay in Nixie's life, and how she made him look at his own life and desires, and realise that what he wanted wasn't what he'd always thought.
All in all, a really great enjoyable read.
This has it all suspence, humour, trust issues, and a very good storyline, I loved it, I was drawn in from the start, I loved all the characters and their foibles, the chemistry was off the wall. I couldn't put it down
I received an advanced copy from Netgalley and voluntarily leave my own opinion
3.5 “Anything for another chance” stars!!
Nixie Rowland was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Completely unaware of her surroundings, she turned down an alley and was followed in by two thugs. Lucky for her, a knight in shining armor caught the action about to happen and saved the day. Nash Knight rescued the damsel-in-distress who ended up injured and brought her to his home to recover. He didn’t expect to love seeing her in his space, a space he never shared with anyone. And that’s just the beginning…
Nixie has only known loss. She lost her family in 9-11 and now the man she thought was the love of her life turned out to be someone else. She’s not interested in another relationship. She’s just trying to keep her head above water and hiding from one who wants more from her than she’s willing to give. Nash doesn’t know anything about relationships and doesn’t care. His true loves are his work and his brother’s twins. After losing his brother to the war, his perspective on life changed. Who needed love? But meeting Nixie throws his whole life out-of-whack. For these two, most resistant to love, it couldn’t have hit them harder.
Tara Leigh did a fantastic job of illustrating the push and pull between Nash and Nixie. Their chemistry was undeniable but the fight that Nash had on his hands to earn a chance with her was hard to handle. While I was frustrated like crazy with Nixie, I was rooting right until the end for Nash. In the end, this manwhoring billionaire found his heart and became a swoon-worthy hero and that’s a win in my book.

Thisnwas absolutely fantastic and I have become addicted to Tara Leigh's books. It had sexy banter, hot chemistry and a great story! I absolutely loved Nixie and Nash!
I would like to thank Netgalley and SMP Romance for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.
when nash rushes into a back allley to save nixie from two thugs in the opening pages of deal breaker he has no idea that his previously well-ordered life was about to change. sixteen years ago september 11th changed his life, and the life of every new yorker. it changed nixie's life too, her parents lost in the collapsing towers. while nash may not have actually lost his brother that day, it was the last time his family was whole. and when wyatt died overseas serving in the military he'd been inspired to enlist in when the twin towers collapsed, it was an extension of that tragedy.
saving nixie shatters nash's reserve. for the first time in a long time he can't stop thinking of someone or something other than his business. he sees someone vulnerable in nixie, and he wants to protect her, keep her whole. even at times keep her from him, because that will guarantee she doesn't get hurt. but the pull between them is more than that. yes, he wants to save her, but he also just wants her in his life. on whatever terms she'll let him in.
for a legendary deal maker, nash is kept on his toes by nixie, who doesn't cower, doesn't give in. she doesn't want saving. and yet this guy keeps knocking down the walls she puts up between them. and as he pops in and out of her life, she comes to realize that she much prefers having him in her life than not. the way he makes her feel, the way he cares for her is a heady thing. because sixteen years ago she lost her family, and now nash is having her think that she can have love and laughter and joy in her life again. and it all feels too good to be true.
the push and pull between nash and nixie is compelling. watching them spend time together and learn to open up their hearts to someone else is emotional and sweet. and the magnetic pull between them never lets up. it doesn't matter how hard they try to run from it, they end up back where they started, facing each other. the key is that they have to do it without walls around their hearts.
3.75 stars--DEAL BREAKER is the second instalment in Tara Leigh’s contemporary, adult BILLIONAIRE BOSSES erotic, romance series. This is thirty two year old billionaire, venture capitalist Nash Knight, and twenty four year old Nixie Rowland’s story line. DEAL BREAKER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Dash and Nixie) DEAL BREAKER follows the building relationship between billionaire venture capitalist Nash Knight, and Nixie Rowland, a young woman on the run whose past has caught up and wants revenge. Nash Knight is no knight in shining armor, and Nixie Rowland doesn’t want or need a protector but a fateful meeting in a dark alley finds Nixie the potential victim of an attempted rape, and Nash Knight will become her hero and guardian. What ensues is the building romance and love between Nixie and Nash, and the fall out when Nixie’s past demands more than she is willing to give,
Nixie Rowland knows heartbreak and loss; raised by her father’s former business partner following the death of her parents in 9/11, Nixie would fall in love with her foster-father’s son, a man whose demons are dark and addicting. On the run, in the hopes of evading the man who once stolen her heart, Nixie will reluctantly seek solace and help from the man known as the Dark Knight of Wall Street. Enter Nash Knight, a domineering, manwhoring, ruthless businessman who finds a kindred spirit in our story line heroine. Something about Nixie calls to his heart having lost his only brother a few years before. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a small cast of secondary and supporting characters including Nash’s right hand man Jay, his PA Katherine Simmons, and housekeeper Greta; Tristan and Reina (Penthouse Player #1), and Nash’s parents . We are also introduced to Nash’s sister in law Eva Knight and her children Madison and Parker, as well as Reina’s sister in law Celeste ; Nixie’s foster father Paul ‘Pappi Attwood, and Paul’s son and Nixie’s ex-boyfriend Derrick who is desperate to make amends with our story line heroine.
DEAL BREAKER begins with some amazing world building as we are in the mind of a man whose ruthless business transactions have built a reputation amongst those battling to keep afloat in a struggling economy but somewhere along the way the story line loses some of its’ momentum as we are witness to Nixie’s need to remain independent in the face of continuing threats and attacks; and a conflict resolution that fizzles with a questionable backstory-a backstory that if revealed earlier could have aided Nixie much sooner rather than later. There is a distinct lack of communication and honesty between several story line characters that adds fuel to an already simmering fire. The premise is intriguing; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance struggles with a lack of trust; a lack of communication; and a reluctant hero who has fallen for women struggling to move on from the past.

A redheaded damsel in distress, a gorgeous billionaire, and a pair of very cute four-year-old fraternal twins, are the foundation of Deal Breaker by Tara Leigh. This is the second book from the author's Billionaire Bosses series and it can be read as a standalone.
When Nixie Rowland's parents died on 9/11, her late father's best friend and business partner took her in. She grew up alongside Pappi's son Derrick, and they fell in love. Derrick turned out to be a gambling addict drowning in debt, and only wanted Nixie for the money she was to inherit in the very near future. Nixie escaped Derrick's controlling clutches, and made a home for herself in a rundown walk-up in Brooklyn. Constantly looking over her shoulder, working part-time, and going to school is her life, until Nash Knight rescues her from an almost assault in a back alley.
When Nash lost his brother to the fight on terrorism, he poured himself into his work and became an extremely successful yet feared, businessman. Nash bought and sold off companies, much like the Richard Gere character in Pretty Woman. Coming to Nixie's rescue changes his outlook on life for the better. He begins to develop loving feelings for the first time and realizes that being a part of a family is of the utmost importance. Nixie is his soulmate.
Nixie and Nash are a hot couple and the situations that bring them together are both serious and bittersweet. As they get to know each other, Nixie realizes that a second chance at true love is very possible. Their sexy times are replete with steam, desire and love. This is an entertaining fairy-tale romance with an interesting plot and nicely-defined characters. Ms. Leigh is a creative storyteller and her words kept me engaged from beginning to end.

Deal Breaker is my first read from Tara Leigh and I thought it was a great introduction to her writing. I liked getting to know these characters and seeing them both overcome what they were dealing with. Nash and Nixie both intrigued me and had me wanting to find out all I could about them, especially Nixie. She seemed like someone down on their luck but never seemed defeated and I really liked that about her character.
Though, I really would have liked if we had gotten more background on both Nixie and Nash. There were times I felt like their pasts were rushed over and it left me still wanting more. I think my main issue with the story was just the pace of it. The beginning started out pretty well but then a lot of the middle was fast and felt rushed. I just wanted a little more story to go along with the romance.
I would definitely recommend this book and it can be read as a standalone without any issues if you don't want to go back to read the first.
This is the second book in this series but totally can be read as a standalone. Nixie is on the run from her abusive ex and Nash a wall street mogul. Together they have instant chemistry and what starts as a one night stand turns into more. Will they survive what life dishes out for them? This is one you have to read and make sure you don't have plans for the rest of the day because once you start you will not be able to put it down! Definitely recommend this one.

4.5* I'll take Nash - I'll just start with that lol
Nash was content with the way his life was but Nixie is everything he never knew he was looking for. A chance encounter, an overnight stay of the not the usual kind and a love begins.
EEP! These two had me practically biting my nails! I love the way the story flowed, I was wrapped up in, had all the feels. Twists and turns I didn't see coming, lurved it!
The only thing.....I wanted her to put Eva in her place. Um, yeah, better woman then me because yeah, I would have been putting a big old claim on that man!!!
Can't wait for the next book!!! Loving this author!
This was such a sexy and amazing book. The chemistry between Nash and Nixie was so electric. The words that the author used to describe their attraction made the story flow and twist beautifully. When Nixie found herself in a dangerous situation she was rescued by her Knight in shining army, Nash. He is a bad boy billionaire that only does one night stands but will he change his ways when he meets his damsel in distress or play like always? Thank you for allowing me to read this book and write a honest review.
Out of all the stories about penthouse players and young billionaire entrepreneurs, Deal Breaker has been the most interesting. In the second Billionaire Bosses novel, Tara Leigh brings two lovers together by the connection of tragedy and the hope of happily ever after.
Nixie is on the run from her ex-boyfriend who planned to marry her for the money she'll receive when she turns 25. Nash is a hardworking mogul who's hobbies are work, work, and women. The two are in different places in their lives. Where Nixie plans on putting down roots, Nash does everything in his power to avoid a committed relationship, even when it comes to the mother of his adored niece and nephew.
The story is crafted excellently. I was intrigued by the way the two characters were brought together. They both suffered tragic losses that affect their actions in the present, yet Nixie and Nash work their way toward a happy future. I did expect there to be a little more drama to shake the emotional aspect of the plot. There is some drama that stems from Nash's ex, but it seemed mechanical as though it was only added to thicken the plot. I didn't really get engaged in that part of the story. I was more focused on how the marriage of convenience trope would play out in the story. Tara Leigh does a marvelous job of throwing that into the story to provide the ultimate challenge for Nixie and Nash.
Overall, Deal Breaker is a sizzling romance, both cozy and steamy that will keep you wrapped up until the end rooting for Nixie and Nash.

I really enjoyed this one! It's a story of two completely different people that instantly make a connection. He's a Wallstreet big leaguer. She's works in an ice cream shop. His past is full of deceit and loss. She's on the run and keeping secrets. They should never work together but when their relationship them begins to change from mere attraction to wanting more will they be able to overcome their differences and secrets?
I thought this was very well written and the story has a great pace to it. Definitely a book I would recommend.
I received an ARC from Netgalley. While I enjoyed this book and love story about Nash and Noelle and understand throwing in the Eva twist but in the end the Eva crisis seemed unresolved to me and left me irritated. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the twists and turns of this book though. Also not sure why the whole fighting angle for Nash even needed to be a thing. It was mentioned here and there but he never had any fights per se. Good weekend read if you are looking for one.
Deal Breaker is the second book in the Billionaire Bosses series by Tara Leigh but can be read as a standalone. If you're like me though you'll want to read the series in order because Tristan and Reina from Penthouse Player make an appearance in this book since Tristan and Nash are friends.
September 11, 2001 is a day that everyone remembers especially New Yorkers' because chances are you are either personally effected by that horrible day or someone close to you was. I can tell you everything that happened to my family that day from the first plane flying into the towers to the aftermath of the all the destruction and heartbreak. Nixie lost both her parents that day, and Nash's brother joined the Military in response to the attacks and died in combat years later. This story starts on September 11, 2017, sixteen years after the devastating events. The first time Nash sees Nixie he is taken by her flaming hair and attractive body but then he notices something that Nixie doesn't realize....she's being followed into an alley by two men. To say that Nash comes to her rescue is an understatement because of the way things turn out. Maybe it was fate stepping in on a day that they both needed it.
I enjoyed this book for several reasons, first off Nixie was a strong female character, some may consider her weak but if you have ever been in an abusive relationship you know that it takes strength to remove yourself from it and that is what Nixie has done. Did she run away from her problems, yes she did, but that isn't a sign of weakness in my eyes. Nash won me over, I must admit that at first I didn't really like him he reminded me to much of an overbearing, domineering, potentially abusive alpha male but I am happy to say that most of me first impression of him was wrong. He he had his moments of being overbearing as well as domineering and could be considered a stalker a time or two but that is where it ended....thankfully.
Tara Leigh has taken us on a path of self discovery for both Nash and Nixie, while their chemistry was great I really enjoyed watching Nash go from his playboy was to a man that was committed to the woman he loved. I look forward to the next book in this series and I really cannot wait for Tara Leigh's new series Nothing But Trouble, with the first book Rock King being released on February 20, 2018.
DEAL BREAKER by Tara Leigh is book Two in the "Billionaire Bosses" series. This is the story of Nixie Rowland and Nash Knight. I have read the previous book 'Penthouse Player ' but feel this can easily be a standalone book.
Nixie is trying to stay clear of a control and abusive ex boyfriend while trying to work to get herself ahead in life. When a bad day turns into one that lands her in the sites of Nash she wonders what could happen next. Nash is all about one night stand and short affairs so much so that it is starting to affect his work reputation and he is trying to clean that up. But with Nixie, Nash finds it hard to walk away and becomes somewhat controlling of her when he learns of her ex boyfriend situation. So maybe marriage who help them both by protecting her and this cleaning up his image some.
I truly enjoyed the first book and was so looking forward to this book...so happy it did not disappoint! Loved it!

Nash was driven and bought businesses to slowly dismantle them. Each piece that took away from the bottom line was gone. Countless of lives changed as the results Many considered him ruthless. All that changed the night he met Nixie. He came to her defense when she needed it the most. Saving her from those who would do her harm. Each minute he spends with her, he feels drawn to who she is and finding the answers she keeps hidden. Nash is compelled to change to only to close business deals but to finally heal the brokenness that resides within his heart. Great story on how a single moment can change your life forever.
Nixie is walking home late one night and is accosted by two thugs. Lucky for her, Nash sees her duck into an alley and goes to rescue her. From there the two have a whirlwind romance each trying to overcome loss from 9/11. This book was an okay read.
Nixie and Nash are not right for each other, Nash is focused on business with no time for a relationship. Nixie has had it with men....but the steamy hot sizzle they feel for each other can't be ignored. Tara Leigh is an author who knows how to hold a readers attention!
‘I’d been trying to look away from Nixie since the first moment I set eyes on her. It hadn’t worked outside the alley, or since. And it sure as hell wasn’t working now.’
I feel like I should have LOVED this book. From the meet-cute to the snarky, sassy heroine and the demanding, Alpha hero, it certainly seems exactly like my kind of book. However, this one fell a little short of the mark for me.
Of course, there were things I did thoroughly enjoy. Early on, in particular, the dynamic between Nixie and Nash was on point. I enjoyed their banter. The way they fought. The way their chemistry damn near electrified the pages. However, it lost me a little through the middle.
Too often, I felt like this book veered off course and back again. Or, perhaps, zig-zagged across the course, giving me a dizzying feeling of ‘I’ve been here before, only slightly different’, and a desire to push the story firmly forward. At times, it was like there was too much going on for anything to really happen, which made me wish for a pared down story.
Just Nixie and Nash, and a psycho-ex. That, for me, would have (most likely) taken this book from just good to great. Maybe even wonderful. Especially if it ended the same way—me smiling at the characters, happy they’d figured themselves out and still hoping for a little more out of this series.
“You’re like no one I’ve ever known, Nixie. And whenever you look at me like you’re doing right now, with your eyes all soft and a smile on your lips, you make me think I must be doing something to deserve it.”
