Nixie is walking home one night when she gets lost and is jumped by 2 thugs with knives. Just when she thinks this is it, she is saved by an avenging angel. Not what she expected nor, what she wants!!! Nixie has not had a great life, losing her parents in the 9/11 attacks then, falling for the son of the man who finished raising her and, having the son turn into a crazed stalker. Nixie has changed her name and been running ever since. Nash Knight is a multimillionaire who is also a part-time MMA fighter. He also takes care of his sister-in-law and niece & nephew because, he lost his brother in the war because of 9/11. Neither one of these people wants to get involved with anyone because of their history and because they don't believe in love or, for that matter, they don't believe they deserve it! This is quite the roller coaster ride of emotions where they both have to fight themselves and each other about the feelings they both have but, continue to deny!

Yikes. I'm not sure how to go about this read I got from NetGalley, but for the most part, this story felt very artificial. The insta-love/lust for starters felt very forced on me. The crazed, controlling ex-boyfriend and the gorgeous and uber-sophisticated ex-fiance who cheated on our hero with his own brother but still wants him back -- these "bad guys" were just badly drawn. The sad backstory of our main characters was meant to bring the emotional pain, but were just painful caricatures of 9/11. (However, this was an area I really did want to not feel artificial. Anyone in the NY-area and beyond felt the tragedy in different ways. I remember being scared and in a disbelieving fog stationed NY and listening to the radio non-stop.) I really wish the book was better, but there are ton of books on similar topics that are done with greater skill. Go read one.

A decent read, but to me not as enjoyable as Penthouse Player. This could be me just being overly picky, but one thing that I didn't care for were the names: Nixie and Nash Knight (too much alliteration). I wasn't a big fan of Nixie; if someone had saved me the way Nash saved her, I'd be pretty damn grateful. Her reaction was a bit surprising, but I could also see why she might not have been thinking clearly at that moment. There's plenty of secrets that still need to be revealed between these two. I didn't like how the subject of someone from Nixie's past was handled; for all he did, he kind of disappeared from the story. I was hoping for a more concrete conclusion for that person.

Deal Breaker was well-organized and good story. Hot in just the right places.

Tara Leigh really knows how to write a billionaire boss! Nash was swoon-worthy and I loved him right from the start. Pixie was a strong and independent counterpart to Nash. Even though that was questioned by the "is-she" or "is-she-not" villain, Ava, I really think she was a strong character. There were times when I wanted to take her to the side and tell her she was being utterly ridiculous, that Nash was THE ONE. The story interesting and kept me hooked. I just loved Nash and Pixies story so much!

Wow! Just wow! This book deserves way more than 5 stars. The story just blew me away. Totally hooked me right in. I didn’t want it to end. I have to say that this is one of Tara Leigh best books. Would highly recommend

I found the plot to be simplistic and slightly ridiculous. The book starts with Nash saving Nixie from possible rape. She is not as grateful as he thinks she should be and is in fact prickly and confident. Of course, there is an instant attraction. An injury places her in his care. The romance is rocky with both neither really trusting the other, and in fact they separate for a time. When they get bacl together, the plot moves swiftly but gets unrealistic. They decide to have a marriage in name only so David (her abusive ex) cannot get his hands on her sizeable inheritance. He then kidnaps her in order to force her to marry him. It turns out David has no gambling debts because his father has paid them and David gets hauled off to Rehab (no charges, no nothing--he effectively disappears from the book). And they all live happily ever after. This was a no for me. I felt the author bailed on the ending, and felt she also did this with the previous book.

I did not connect with the characters nor did I find the story line flow seamlessly. It jumped all around and it just seem like I was chasing one rabbit whole to another. I was ready for it to be over and I really almost didn't finish it.

Wow!  Just Wow!  What an amazing story!  I was so captivated by this book.

In this book Nash Knight is a self-made billionaire and part-time boxer.  He has come from nothing to something earning him the title the Black Knight of Wall Street.  He is cold and calculated.

Nixie is running from her past and she happens to run into a dark alley unaware of the dangers that are following behind her.  When she is attacked a good-looking man comes to her rescue.

Nash sees what is transpiring as he is leaving the gym.  Rushing in to save the damsel in distress he finds her being attacked and rescues her.  She starts to yell at him and then she passes out from blood loss and shock.  As Nash carries a unconsious Nixie to his home to be looked at by his on call doctor, he struck by how beautiful she is.  He wonders what else she may be running from.

When Nixie wakes in a strangers bed all she can think of is how to get away.  She is scared and this beautiful alpha male is more trouble than she needs in her life.

This book was fantastic.  The characters were so charismatic and I just fell in love with their story.  I believe Eva is delusional and I wanted to slap the crap out of her.  I really wished that Nixie did not back down from her the way she did.  But Eva knew what she was doing.  Very conniving.

Nash is that perfect knight in shining armor.  "Nash, my knight in shining armor who insisted his cape was black despite it being as white as his perfect teeth."  He has a very hard time admitting that he can and is in love with Nixie.  Nixie is a very stubborn and strong-willed individual with a run for the hills approach to anything that scares her.  Together they are perfect for each other.

This book was a page turner from the very beginning.  I was hooked easily.  It had loads of drama, suspense and humor.  I am looking forward to reading more by Tara Leigh.  Even though this is a second book in a series, it can be read as a standalone.  A very entertaining and exciting read.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review of this book.

Nash Knight, a hard-fighting man who’s worked his way up from the edges of trouble to become a ruthless and wealthy leader on Wall Street. When he’s leaving his boxing club, he spots a woman in trouble, being pursued into an alleyway by two men. He rescues her, and that’s how he meets Nixie. Nixie doesn’t need to be rescued, or at least she doesn’t think she needs to be helped. She’s used to being alone and doesn’t easily trust people. She’s lost too many people she loved.

This was an amazing story, I really got into quickly and wanted to read it in a single session. I liked both the characters, they are pushed to grow in all the right ways. We see their struggles and we recognize them. They are real. Some minor things I think could have been a bit more, or something. I didn’t really understand Eva’s motivations. Well, I did, but I wasn’t quite sure that that’s what they would have looked like in practice. Also, Nash’s parents play a surprisingly minor role. Well, more accurately they almost aren’t present until occasionally they are a part of the story. These are minor concerns and do not detract from the overall arc of the story. I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys romantic fiction.

Did not finish. Stopped at 41%.

SPOILERS

Really was enjoying the first half but then Nash made a decision, that I was not a fan of. That didn't stop me from reading though. What stopped me was the fast forward, Nixie didn't even address his absence, and he kind of lied about Eva. Then she gave it up!! Ugh!! How about, dude where yah been???? Nash was not the alpha male I expected him to be.

I loved the first book in this series so had high hopes for where Tara Leigh would take #2. Sadly though it contains tropes I’m not overly fond of, the overall relationship with Nixie and Nash went round in circles a little too long and I spent the first 60% feeling like I had whiplash. Don’t get me wrong, there were some lovely moments along the way, it was nice to revisit characters from book #1 and I do like Tara’s writing style—it simply boils down to to personal preference, so I’d definitely say it’s one to check to check out for yourself.

"God help me, I wanted to grab hold of a sword and slay whatever dragons dared turn their fire on her."

Deal Breaker was a quick and easy read for me and follows the story of Nash and Nixie. Nixie's life is anything but perfect. Her luck is terrible and she is about to find out how bad it is. Just before things can really take a turn for the worst, she is rescued by a handsome stranger. This stranger though is anything but perfect. He's rich, cocky and doesn't take no for an answer. The last thing Nixie needs is to get involved with a man like him. However trying to stay away might prove to be harder than she originally thought. Will Nixie take a chance on this mysterious stranger or will her past catch up to her and ruin everything? You'll just have to pick this book up to find out for yourself....

Overall, I thought this book was an ok read. This book pretty much hits the ground running and never looks book. The story-line is intriguing and fast-paced. I enjoyed the chemistry between our two main characters. Their lives are complicated and while is should make things extra messy, I think it only makes things interesting. My only complaint about this book was that is was a little too fast paced for my liking. I would have liked to have seen the characters really get to know one another and really work on their relationship. I feel like their issues got resolved a bit too quickly. And in the end, I just needed more.

Even though this book wasn't a complete hit for me, I'm still glad I checked it out. I think this author has a ton of potential and I look forward to checking out more from her in the future.

Not bad, a little cliche but not bad. Good for a vacation book.

There are several traditional romance themes mixed in this story. The heroine, Nixie, is fleeing a former boyfriend when a billionaire playboy, Nash Knight, rescues her from street violence. He’s a heartless businessman who buys companies and breaks them up. Think the Richard Gere character in “Pretty Woman.” He covers a broken heart by refusing to have a relationship with any woman. However, he’s instantly attracted to her as she is to him. She resists and that attracts him more. Throw in an engagement for a marriage of convenience. Just count up the romance novel cliches.

With insta-lust turning into insta-love, complications get resolved rather quickly. If those are plotlines that you enjoy, then you’ll enjoy this book.

I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Nash Knight a workaholic businessman has no tome for relationships or romantic entanglements, just frequent one night stands.
He finds himself rescuing Nixie from two assailants, and is instantly attracted to her. Nixie is running away from a controlling ex and doesn't appreciate him trying to help her or run her life for her.
As this story and relationship develops we learn more about circumstances that have mounded these two characters.
A great romance with some sparkling ans amusing dialogue.
There was a glaring error at the start of this book, which I hope will be rectified by publication.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book

There are times when the worst moments in life can lead to an unexpectedly happy ending. Deal Breaker is dangerous, intriguing, steamy and emotional, but the thrill is that the characters are not easily forgotten and the tale itself is hard to resist. Nixie is caught in the cross hairs of a chaotic life, a controlling ex and mysterious hero that needs a bit of rescuing of his own. A romance on the edge, a life on the run and attraction that is as sneaky as the danger is hot on their heels, Deal Breaker is a full on force of nature that once unleashed is hard to contain.

Billionaire, millionaire romance novels are my favorite. They're my kind of fairy tale book. It must have been fate for Nash to come to Nixie's rescue when he did. Because the events that followed were just perfect. Everyone deserves a white Knight in their lives. If he turns out to be a billionaire whose kind and thoughtful, all the better.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.

Nixie, lost in an unfamiliar part of Manhattan, is rescued by Nash, who sees two men follow her into a dark alley. It turns out that Nixie is hiding from her ex-bofriend, but is unwilling to accept any assistance from Nash, despite his persistence and vast resources.

I enjoyed the early text conversations between Nash and Nixie, where she repeatedly turns him down, but after that, I struggled a bit, both with the plot and the characterization. Both Nixie and Nash behaved in ways that were contradictory, and they never had a straight conversation with each other. They spent too much time being carried along by circumstances or just plain dithering, despite the fact that Nash is supposed to be some corporate wizard and Nixie claims to be able to look after herself.

SPOILERS

Nixie doesn't need Nash to be her knight in shining armour, except that he does save her after she is knifed, and she agrees to move into his hotel suite, allows him to have her locks changed and security in her apartment block upgraded, allows his driver to take her everywhere, and allows the hotel staff to walk her dog. Nixie is not afraid of Derrick, except that actually she is afraid of him and he successfully forces her to do all sorts of things. Nash will never love again or get married because Eva betrayed him with his own brother, except that maybe Nash will marry Eva and help her raise her children. Nash never allows a woman to sleep at his apartment, except that he brings Nixie there, except later she has to sleep at the hotel.

Low points for me:

The marriage of convenience hatched by Eva (into which Nixie and Nash seem happy to sleepwalk) so Nixie and Nash can marry, divorce, and Eva can then marry Nash.

The fact that it turns out Derrick doesn't have any gambling debts because his father has been secretly paying them.

Nash's comment:

"Over the years, I'd realized it wasn't a good idea to work closely with attractive women. They usually wanted to be the future Mrs Knight much more than a current colleague. They were a distraction, and inefficient."

Deal Breaker by Tara Leigh is a fantastic read. Ms Leigh has delivered a well-written book. The characters are amazing and my favorite part of the book. Nash is a self-made billionaire and part-time boxer. Nixie is an art student in hiding from her ex. After Nash rescues Nixie from a couple of thugs in an ally, things get interesting. There's plenty of drama, humor, action and suspense along with a bit of sizzle that kept me focused on my kindle from page one to the end. I totally enjoyed reading Deal Breaker and look forward to reading more from Tara Leigh in the future. Deal Breaker is book 2 of the Billionaire Bosses Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book that I received from NetGalley.
