It is a fun, lighthearted book for young learners. It makes it easy to introduce topics like seasons. I look forward to incorporating it into my lessons with young learners during lessons on nature and seasons.
I have to say I did not enjoy this book as I potentially could have. I find the illustration sloppy and amateur, and to be honest, I possibly wouldn't have minded it, for that could be stylish in its own funky way, but it got ruined with the combination of poorly used photobashing, and I'm not even sure it could be called as such since it looks like just straight up photoshopping photographs into the picture, sticking out like a sore thumb. I find the art so distracting that I couldn't even bother reading the text (I tried, really I did.)
That being said, while this is a harsh critique, personally I find the color palette superb, the color selection and usage are at least fairly pleasing to me. Good job on that!
Unfortunately, I strongly disagree with this book. It is ALWAYS warm enough for ice cream! It was good for teaching about the seasons, but I disliked how some of the art didn’t match.
This is a cute board book about the four seasons and fun things you can do in each season. The illustrations/photos are bright and colorful, making this appealing to young children. Very cute book.
I read a copy from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
This board book is a delightful introduction to the seasons. Toddlers will be drawn to the bright illustrations of diverse children enjoying the pleasures of each time of year, whether it is splashing in a puddle with a rainbow at your back or building a snowman in the Winter. Framing this primer as a book about ice cream is a clever way to make it seem more interesting to kids. Recommended for public libraries.
Is it Warm Enough for Ice Cream? is a brightly colored board book perfect for introducing toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners to the beginning concepts of seasons. Starting with fall and heading into winter, spring, and summer, kids are introduced to how weather and nature change and to fun activities you can do in each season. Kids will enjoy the mix of colors, graphics, and real photos as they get an early primer about the seasons.
Delightful little book I was fortunate to receive through NetGalley as an ARC. My grandkids, ranging from 5-10, all enjoyed it.
Is it Warm Enough for Ice Cream? by DK is a simple book about seasons. It asks each season if it is warm enough to eat ice cream. It is a quick and simple read for early learners. It reviewed the seasons and if each one was the right time for Ice cream. In each season the story gave ideas for what happens during that time and what activities you could do in that type of weather.
Each page describes a season of the year. Toddlers will learn about different items that show up in the season highlighted. Finally, it’s warm enough for ice cream and the colors pop even more than on the previous pages.
This book made me want to create a list of things to achieve for each season- like Ice Skating, wandering through the woods, looking for hiding animals, flying kites, and definitely eating ice cream.
I received an ARC from DK Children via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I give this book 4/5 stars.
A simple board book about seasons. It asks each season if it is warm enough to eat ice cream. Now that may be in the parents decision domain, but I think it is a good way to illustrate what happens in each season. The book uses a mix of illustrations and real pictures to help the audience understand what is going on.

Being a girl that loves ice cream, I'm not sure I agree with the premise of ice cream only being good in summer. :-)
This cute title is sure to appeal to young children with its emphasis on all the fun activities described. The illustrations are bright and colorful. This is a nice way to introduce children to the changing seasons and the best things that each has to offer.
