What a wonderful book. The author takes a page to talk about the various types of bees but the book mainly looks at the Honey Bee. It covers the body and how they live and work. Why we need bees and how they help the environment is in here and includes thing and flowers you can plant to help grow bee populations. This was well done and a great source for any collection.
Many colorful easy-to-read graphics provide a wealth of information about bees--the variety of bee species, the bee's body, the role of beekeepers, the types of bees in a hive, their role in pollinating crops, and more. The attractive, varied format is especially useful for teachers and children studying how to read and write information along with graphic illustrations. This is a fine choice for animal units and just plain browsing and learning.
I was fascinated by this title that teaches children all about bees. This is a great book to read with your pre-k and elementary school age child. It does a very good job of detailing the life cycle of bees, the types of bees that live in each hive, and the work of the bees. It also goes on to describe how bees, or a lack of bees, impacts our environment and food production. The title offers solutions to creating habitats that bees will find more hospitable to support bee population growth. The illustrations work very well to support the text and further explain the life of bees.
