Seductive, sweet, and sexy!

Bad Bachelor is a delightfully, witty rom-com set in the hip-and-happening New York City where the Bad Bachelor app is the latest-and-greatest source for finding your mate and the fiery, intelligent, librarian, Darcy may not be able to trust everything she reads when it comes to the successful, suave, Reed McMahon.

The writing style is whimsical and clever. The characterization is spot on, with an incredible cast of characters who are quirky, charming, loveable, and fun. And the plot is a well crafted, amusing blend of drama, emotion, playful banter, exquisite tension, touching moments, steamy chemistry, and smoldering romance.

Bad Bachelor is undeniably an entertaining, lighthearted, humorous read that I thoroughly enjoyed and is without a doubt a fantastic way to kick off this new series!

I liked Bad Bachelor by Stefanie London much more than I expected to. Reformed bad boys are a popular, possibly overdone, trope in contemporary romance and it takes skill to do it well. The difference for me was that I genuinely liked all the characters in Bad Bachelor. London successfully managed to create conflict without any real bad guys. There was no one I wanted to hate or inflict with bodily harm for being a jerk or worse, being immature. All the characters had jerk moments, but it didn’t consume their character. London carefully walked a line of not letting the jerk moments turn her characters into cliche’d charactures, while still maintaining tension.

Bad Bachelors is an app that let’s women rate and review their dates. Bad boy Reed McMahon is on the top of their hit list and it’s starting to affect more than just his dating life. He and the reader are left to wonder who created the app and the source of his or her personal war with Reed. Really good twist there. I love it when I didn’t see something coming.

Darcy Greer is a combat boot wearing, tattooed, take-no prisoners—librarian. The woman with a pierced tongue who can quote Shakespeare is a wonderful contradiction, but not. She is a complete character and by the end of the book, we wouldn’t change a thing.

The way that she and Reed approach their association and eventual relationship works. There is some explicit sex, but it’s not the focus of the story, the relationship is paramount. Darcy described it perfectly when she said, “How was she supposed to tell the guy that her relationship with his son could be described as work with a side of smut?“ As London walks us through it, she is often very insightful, “…she saw something else: a man who was frightened of connecting. Who rolled in on himself so the spikes faced outward, scaring off anyone who might dare get close.“

I appreciated that the plot was well thought-out and developed. There were only a couple minor things that interrupted my flow, one being a word choice I despise and another a few repetitive phrases. Neither was unforgivable. Overall, I very much enjoyed this read.

My Rating: B+ Liked It A Lot

Such a fun and sexy read!I enjoyed it a lot, it was fast paced with great characters!There was so much humor in this story but it was also filled with drama !All in the perfect amount plus the romance to make you keep reading till the end!!It has a refreshing plot for the romance genre that you won't want to miss it!The banter between the characters was awesome. Just the way they went back and forth you could sense the sexual tension even though they both wanted to deny it.

After the wedding that never was, Darcy Greer is hesitant to start dating again. Luckily for her, she discovers a new dating website that rates the men in New York with how relationship worthy they are.

Reed McMahon has no interest in the Bad Bachelors website... until he starts getting more and more bad reviews. He has never been anything but honest with the women he has been with about his desire to steer clear of relationships. But, when all the negative attention starts to affect his career, his decision to wait for it all to blow over is getting less and less feasible.

Darcy and Reed couldn't be more different. She is smart mouthed, tattooed and most comfortable in her combat boots. He lives in his suit and dines at the fanciest restaurants in NYC. But, even with his bad reviews, there is something about Reed that Darcy just can't stay away from...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Darcy is wary of Reed and the type of man he represents. Having been burned in the past, she figures using a tool like the Bad Bachelors website couldn't hurt. But, when none of the guys who look good on paper do much to spark her interest, she finds her thoughts being drawn right back to the man who seems like the worst candidate by far.
Reed has never had the desire for a long term relationship, and he's never been anything but transparent in his decision either. So when he starts getting so many bad reviews, he can't quite comprehend where they are all coming from. Darcy is someone he never saw coming. She is completely opposite from any woman he has ever dated, but there's something about their verbal sparring that keeps him coming back for more.
This was a good read. I loved Darcy and Reed's banter and how much they open up to each other when they are so closed off to everyone else. Recognizing their similarities even though they are buried deep, they both take a while to realize how perfect they can be for each other.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Reed McMahon is a PR phenom who has the ability to remake people's public image. But what can he do when his own image needs fixing?? All he is hearing about is the newest app, Bad Bachelors! It's a dating app where the women can rate their dates and leave a review. Reed has scored the lowest and has numerous bad reviews! He needs his own brand of help....and quick!
Darcy is meeting a PR guy to help save her struggling library. She immediately recognizes Reed as the top rated bad bachelor to date. She shouldn't be so attracted to him, but she will do anything to help the library-even if it means working with someone who has such a bad reputation. She'll just keep herself in check for the sake of the library, if she can...
Darcy has been judged her who life for beating to a different drum. She's never lived up to her mother's expectations so she has stopped trying. She's lashed out by getting piercings and tattoos. It's who she is. Even with her family relationships strained, Darcy has some wonderful friends. They have helped her stay sane during the most traumatic times in her life. When she meets Reed, she expects him to judge her just like everybody else has-but he doesn't. He is strangely drawn to her-and she is nothing like his type. Darcy realizes there is a lot more to Reed than what these girls are writing in their reviews.
Reed likes that Darcy is blunt and real. She doesn't sugarcoat things and after having women tell him what they think he wants to hear all the time, its refreshing. Darcy is an enigma to him. As they spend more time together working, they find they enjoy each other's company. As a self proclaimed single man for life, his growing feelings for Darcy scares Reed. He doesn't want a relationship, but with the Bad Bachelors app, dating the field is getting problematic. He's holding onto his job by a string and needs to put a stop to the bleeding!
I enjoyed Bad Bachelor and could totally see something like this in today's world. Obviously it could be used as a tool to hurt people too. I liked Reed and Darcy together! She was a spitfire and called him out on his crap. He was a sincere guy under all the walls he built up. I liked how they were a slow build with sparks along the way. Little by little, Darcy was breaking down his walls, and she, his. The mystery of the app builder was also a good plot twist thrown in. Although it dragged a bit here and there, it was a fun book to read.
Bad Bachelor was witty, sexy and emotional. I devoured this book! Can’t wait to read the next one. The banter between the prickly Darcy and the wounded emotionally unavailable Reed was spectacular. Clear some time because once you start reading you won’t be able to put it down.
Stefanie London did an amazing job creating a story where opposites attract and against all odds become something more. I'm not going to say much about the plot–just that it was refreshing, well-written, and with a great concept.
I really enjoyed both characters, but my favorite was definitely Darcy. She was not your typical bookworm and that really gave the story tons of brownie points.
Bad Bachelor went from this is just ok to I’m not sleeping till I finish it. And even though I felt the ending a little bit rushed, I enjoyed it. A fun start to a sexy series. Can't wait to read Bad Reputation.
This is my first read from Stefanie London, and I admittedly got sucked in by this cover and the very Tom Hardy looking cover model. This book also brought out my heroine hater tendencies and found me squarely in the corner of all the bad bachelors out there. Shocker!
The premise behind the story revolves around the Bad Bachelor app - an app along the lines of the former <i>Don't Date Him Girl</i> site that was around a handful of years ago. Touted as a way to empower and educate women, the Bad Bachelor app allows anonymous users to rate and hate on men, airing grievances and saying whatever their heart desires without any consequence whatsoever. As you can imagine, that can result in countless keyboard warriors being vile and vindictive and making my lip curl with their petty behavior.
So let me start off by saying that I really liked that our heroine was unique. A somewhat emo-frumpy librarian with full sleeve tattoos, piercings, literary t-shirts and combat books - Darcy Greer was not what we usually find in romance books. But I dug her vibe and that she was willing to battle her family to be true to herself. I often wish I could let my tattoos all hang out - but I think that would be frowned upon by my stuffy government job. Darcy definitely had a lot of baggage, not just from a overly critical mother, but also from a near marriage that ended in a shocking way. All of this made me sympathetic to her character. I even understood her prickly nature when it came to dealing with our uber-handsome hero at first... but I wish overall that she would have been less judgy and less willing to believe everything she read online.
Reed McMahon is a successful public relations whiz schmoozing clients in expensive bespoke suits. With no time for a relationship, Reed is seen as a playboy and women view him as the ultimate catch, the one they all hope they can change with one sweaty session between the sheets. Even though Reed tells them up front not to have any expectations, do you think they listen? Of course not. So when the Bad Bachelor app gets going, all those women (plus some other fake and vindictive types) absolutely trash Reed and make him the #1 worst bachelor in the city. Unfortunately in this day and age, people are all too willing to take what they see online is gospel and no one stops to see that there is more to Reed than meets the eye. While he did project what he wanted people to see and had a problem with pushing people away, he was actually a good person, close to his father, and definitely good at his job. I liked Reed immensely. And I liked that the author made him such a likable, if misunderstood, character. It would have been easy to paint him as the villain that women made him out to be, and I'm glad that is not the direction this story went.
The power dynamic gets flipped a couple times in this story. Reed is the playboy flirt and doesn't hold back from seductive quips and propositions to our grumpy heroine. Then when things are getting heavier between the two, Darcy has the power to wound Reed with her words, and vice versa. They did seem like an odd pair - but I liked them together. Their relationship was not without drama and misunderstanding, but when they were together, they were a lot of fun. The snark and banter was great, and they steamed things up pretty well between the sheets.
The Bad Bachelor app was this cancer growing in the background of this story. It really irked me to no end, so I give kudos to London in this regard. She certainly got me invested in the story and rooting for our hero. She also had me hating the creators of the app and the petty vindictive women who were posting.
This is such a fabulous story, wow I didn’t want to put it down once I started it, Stefanie London has such a way with words they bring life to her characters on the pages they become friends people that you feel close to and I just about inhaled this story and yay it is the start of a new series bonus, I do highly recommend this one and if you have not read a Stefanie London book before this is a great place to start and I am sure you will be reading her backlist.
Reed McMahon is gorgeous, confident and fabulous and in his PR job he has been made partner and he is a love em and leave kinda of guy, he has no intention of settling down and loving someone heaven forbid you see they might leave him at some stage, so he prefers to keep people at a distance get on with life. But suddenly there is the new app that has found its way onto the internet Bad Bachelors, New York’s bad boys and Reed finds himself no 1. This turns his life totally upside down as does the fact that he has to help with a fundraising project at a library of all places and the librarian Darcy Greer is going to turn him inside out.
Darcy Greer is an individual she loves her job as a librarian she loves her two best friends Annie and Remi and she has been known to be different with her tattoos and boots and black clothes, yes she is sworn of men since she caught her ex fiancé with someone else the day before her wedding a year ago, but she is caring and such a smart lady. With pressure from her friends to check the Bad Bachelors app out to start dating again she sees a lot about the bad boys so when number one bad boy turns up at her library to help with the fundraiser this throws them together and if looks could kill or heat New York up well let’s say it is heating up.
I loved both Darcy and Reed two special people both a little damaged from their pasts, both a bit scared to love but their first meeting sends them both into a spin, the dialogue throughout the book is just fabulous the come- back lines are amazing, but as they build walls around themselves to stop them from being hurt we get to see their real personalities and when those walls start to crumble the emotions skyrocket up. Darcy and Reed are just made for each other and MS London has bought them together in the best story it really is fabulous, MS London you have left me one very happy reader, I can highly recommend this one it ticks all of the boxes for a fantastic romance. Maybe Reed is not a real bad boy after all or is he?
LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED
OMG what an amazing story! There was so much humor in this story but it was also filled with drama and heartache. I loved the constant back and forth between Reed and Darcy; how they fought their obvious attraction to each other at every chance they got. I loved how at times Reed seemed so sure of himself while at other times you saw the unsure little boy who still carries the scars from his childhood.
Stefanie London is a new author to me but not for long because I really enjoyed Bad Bachelor which happens to be the first in her new series.
Everybody’s talking about a new app where reviews are left on NYC’s hot bachelors and this is Reed McMahon story. Reed is a PR whiz he is used to fixing other people’s media problems what he is not used to is being talked about by what feels like every single woman in NYC and not in a nice way.
Darcy is a sassy tattooed, pierced librarian who keeps men at arms length but a year after she found her fiancé cheating on her the night before the wedding she decides to take a look at the Hot app everyone is talking about, the last thing she expects is to meet Reed where she works and then she finds out he is going to be the PR guy who is going to help her raise money for the library.
Is Reed as bad as the reviews paint him, what happens when the sassy but innocent girl falls for the Bad Bachelor well I guess you will need to read this highly entertaining book to find that out. Loved the concept of this book, loved the characters loved the witty banter and I can’t wait for book 2. Great job Stefanie London
The idea of a Bad Bachelors app and then a librarian heroine just had me giddy with anticipation. I’ve also never read Stefanie London before and now…I NEED ALL THE BOOKS! Bad Bachelor was a raucously fun novel that I highly recommend.
Reed McMahon is a big league PR executive. Also? He’s labeled the worst bachelor in New York. When it starts affecting his job, Reed is on the search for the culprit behind the site. But he also has another commitment that he’s not too keen about.
Darcy’s a jilted bride, but she’s ready to get back out there and find a man. Enter the Bad Bachelor app. But she also has her mind on her library. They’ve had to cut programs when public funding begins to dry up. A free consultation sounds like just the thing. However, Darcy isn’t expecting Mr. Bad Bachelor himself.
I adored these two. THE BANTER, YA’LL. They can’t stop bickering, and I cackled every time they ended up in each others’ orbit. Reed has confidence out to the wazoo, and Darcy’s got the rebel librarian vibe down pat. They also have more walls than Fort Knox. But this chemistry just keeps pushing and pulling, and the hairs on my arms sizzled.
Everything just came together so well, too. I laughed and cried, had my heart squeezed and pulverized. It was such a great reading experience, and I know I’ll read it again.
This is surprisingly my first book of Stefanie London’s. I said surprisingly as I recognized the name and thought I’ve read a few of her books already. Couldn’t be more wrong! Bad Bachelor is a nice introduction though. It's such a funny and heartwarming story of two people with opposing characters who had more in common than they thought.
The book packed laugh-induced witty banter between the librarian and PR expert. Reed and Darcy were interesting characters who masking their (true) self to avoid getting hurt (again). I couldn’t help but FEEL for them, even when I groaned over them refraining from say it like it was to obnoxious friends and/or peers a number of time.
This being the first book of the Stefanie London’s I read, I find I quite enjoy her writing style. That saying, the switching of POVs between Reed and Darcy felt a bit chaotic to me. And sometimes time sequence between scenes were a bit long(er) that I felt being left out of the loop of what’s been happening. Given it’s a romance novel, it’s a given that they would end up together regardless of the initial impression they had of each other. I’m pleased with the way the author span the plot of bringing them together, not too soon yet not overly elaborate (I wish Reed wasn’t suddenly struck with noble sentiment, though thankfully the madness didn’t persist. lol).
While I’m quite entertained by the characters in this story, the book touched on issue that got my attention too, the social media and how vile and repulsive it could be when being exploited; the whole sense of entitlement that comes with anonymity that could make people mean. How one could be powerless during such onslaught, whether or not they were valid charges. So, Reed was not totally blameless and his standoffish fling-only attitude might and did hurt people. But in the era of fake news and stuff, people just had to be more clever before taking in everything the saw on internet. That the author didn’t push the matter to be completely solved is clever in the way: it served the continuation of the series and the step the characters took proven how far they changed for the better. It’s no question that I’ll be following this series, color me curious what other ”sin” the next bachelors be accused of and how they got out of that situation.
3.5*
I was looking forward to reading this and it turned out to be a cute little read.
Reed McMahon is the lowest scored bachelor on the new Bad Batchelor app. While some of this is deserved, there’s no denying he’s had a lot of sex with a lot of women. Not all the review are genuine or well meaning.
Now Reed is not looking for a relationship or commitment he’s been badly affected by his parents broken relationship and is determined to remain single.
Darcy is a tattooed librarian living a kind of half life. She’s avoided any kind of relationship since her marriage was cancelled the year before. She has a strained relationship with her family and as she try’s to please her mother she hides her real self.
Reed and Darcy would never normally meet but circumstances push them together. And the more time they spend in each other’s company the more they find themselves strangely attracted. They become friends and more but Reed panics. He doesn’t want a woman he wants to be single and successful but the stupid Bad Batchelor app is ruining his life. He’s just barely hanging onto his job and with his father’s ill health he can’t cope with any more.
Why only 3.5*?
It was slow in places, it really seemed to drag which resulted in me skimming the middle sections.
It works best when Reed and Darcy are together, the dialogues is sharp and funny.
“Do you ever get sick of women fawning over you?” Darcy asked once the woman was out of earshot. She slid into the booth.
“No.” He appeared totally unapologetic. “Why would I get sick of it?”
“I don’t know. Don’t men live for the thrill of the chase?”
“Some men do.” He popped the button of his suit jacket as he sat. “I find women who need to be chased are usually more trouble than suits my needs.”
“You mean they don’t want to be chewed up and spat out?”
“You say that like it’s a bad thing. Most of the women who encounter my ‘chewing’ leave without any complaints.”
My quote is from the advanced copy and may change in the final version.
I really enjoyed Stefanie London’s latest book “Bad Bachelor”. Reed is a hot, in demand image consultant, who is getting his own bad PR on a website called Bad Bachelors. Darcy is a tattooed and pierced Librarian getting past the anniversary of being jilted at the altar. They are thrown together on a fundraising project for the library Darcy works at, which Reed hopes will rehab him image. On a superficial level this seems like an opposite attracts story. However, as the story unfolds, they are more alike they they care to admit. Both of them keep people they love at arms length due to abandonment issues. The story was well written and the main and secondary characters were well developed. I look forward to the next installment in this series.
I was given an advanced readers copy of this book from SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca from NetGalley for an honest review.
Reed McMahon is a PR genius but he finds he needs a PR genius of his own when he becomes the star of the a new app called Bad bachelors. Serial daters beware. Darcy Greer has been burned by love and left hurt and embarrassed and with not so great relationship with her mother she's not in the market to trust. Reed shows up at her library, where she works to help with a fundraiser and that's when things get interesting. This is a new author for me. I loved the main characters. Reed is not just a glossy shiny package. The author shows us the real Reed slowly with the help of the heroine in this story. In turn Reed helps Darcy see who she really is. She's spent years hiding herself and Reed has spent years doing almost the same. Watching these two figure themselves out was a sometimes a interesting and wild ride. I felt bad for Reed because he really gets raked over the coals with the Bad Bachelor app. There is a HEA for the mail couple in the series though. I don't really like how it wrapped up who was behind the app and maybe that might be resolved more in the next book in the series. It felt like that character was kind of cruel considering who it ended up being. Of course because there is no real insight as to why that characters did what they did it's hard to tell the why. Cryptic yes but i don't want to give away to much. Looking forward to seeing what plays out in the next book.
This was my second book I’ve read by Stefanie London and I think it’s safe to say she’s fast becoming one of my instant one click authors! I really enjoyed this sweet, sexy read, it was laugh out loud funny and I loved the opposites attract thing! The banter really made this book, and I love that Darcy didn’t fall at Reed’s feet like he was used to.
5 stars, a brilliant read!
LOVE!
Reed meets Darcy via a library PR gig through his company. Reed is on a Bad Bachelor app, where the women of New York can rate the guys they date and look up potentials. I was so happy that the Bad Bachelor app was more of a side story than the focus. Both Reed and Darcy carry a lot of baggage so they definitely don't need to add to it. They had a strong connection you could feel right through the pages and I wanted nothing more than for the two of them to be together. I also appreciated that Darcy had some strong friends. Every woman needs these kinds of friends in their life. Both Reed and Darcy had family issues and it was good to see them both work through them, even if there wasn't a 100% everything is solved conclusion from it. Can't wait to read the next one!
