I liked it. It's outside of my typical genre but I liked it alot and would most definitely recommend it to others looking for a good book to read.

Thank you to Tanglewood Publishing and Netgalley for this free advanced copy of 806 in exchange for an honest review! Although I feel I have heard/read this kind of story before, the cover and description of this specific title stood out to me for some reason. I was intrigued. Weil's writing is perfect for a YA novel. This book made me laugh and contemplate on what truly is the definition of family, and just how wide that definition can differ from person to person. I enjoyed each of the character's this book presented, especially KT. I felt I could relate to her through how she talked about music and the importance it was to her sanity. The aspect of music and bands in this novel really appealed to me as well. A great quick YA read from a very funny and well written author. I would recommend this book and pick up whatever Cynthia Weil writes next! Again, all thanks to Tanglewood publishing and Netgalley!

I love road trip stories and the interesting element of the siblings trying to find their biological father added more depth. I thought the characters were great and the story was good. Although it wasn't quite what I expected, I overall enjoyed it.

Humorous storyline!
Thanks to NetGalley and Tanglewood Press for the opportunity to read and review 806 by Cynthia Weil! The main character, KT, discovers that her unknown father is a sperm donor and she begins the search for possible siblings and for sperm donor 806. She finds out that two of her male school mates are her siblings and they meet 806. After being happily introduced and visiting each other for a while, 806 realizes that he can’t be their father because of his blood type. Back to square one. KT turns the sperm donor card over and thinks the number could actually be 908 instead. After hunting and a few misadventures, the three siblings find their actual donor father and they discover that it was worth the wait. 3 stars for this unique storyline full of humor!

Description:
Sibling 1 throws blenders and plays guitar. Sibling 2 is allergic to everything and is into magic. Sibling 3 is a varsity swimmer with a group of female fans. Enough said.
The only thing they have in common is their biological father, and the only thing they can agree on is that they all want to meet him.
With the help of a broken-down, “borrowed” Jeep, KT, Jesse, and Gabe make their way across the country evading police, trying their luck on the slots, and meeting a life-changing pig, all to track down Donor 806, their father. Any hope of success requires smarts, luck, and ingenuity. Good thing they have each other...even if they don't see it that way.

My Thoughts:
I don't know if this premise has been written before, this search for sperm dad, but it is an interesting fantastical romp. There are so many inconceivable connections and despite some false leads sperm dad, the tale ends with all the neat ends tied up.

Perhaps it is because this book is written by Rock n Roll hall of fame songwriter Cynthia Weil, but this story reads like a song. It has different verses (the false starts and stops), a chorus that shifts and grows a little as the song progresses (the relationship between the three half sibs from different worlds in the same high school) and the conclusion is inevitable, but satisfying.

I really wanted to love this book. I truly and honestly did.
But the unfortunate truth is that I didn't. I found the writing difficult to follow and the first few chapters did very little to capture my attention. It's sad, because the summery that I read, but I just can't say the same for the actual content inside.

I loved the premise of sperm donation kids looking for their biological siblings and their biological dad. Family doesn’t have to be who you were raised by, and family doesn’t have to mean DNA. Three great kids begrudgingly go on a road trip to find their bio dad, which is filled with unfortunate events along the way. Their growing familial relationships with each other were so wholesome and heartwarming. This book examines the importance of family and expands the definition of family. The magic of their character growth and the positive spirits of the siblings, especially Jesse, almost makes one believe in fate.

806 was a quick-heartwarming-coming-of-age read. The novel focuses on 3 teens, musician KT/Katie, star swimmer Jesse, and allergy prone “nerd” Gabe, who are on a search for their biological father. The teens meet via website where kids can find not only their donor fathers but also any siblings they may have. The majority of 806 felt unrealistic, but the antics and circumstances the teens found themselves a part of made for an interesting read. The characters were relatable, and the development of the new-found sibling bond seemed realistic. I’d been reading a lot of mystery/thrillers so this was a refreshing read.

It's a familiar road trip book with an interesting premise. Generally a fun read that may serve some kids in a similar situation.

I love road trip stories and one wonders if there won't be a whole genre given to 'donor' stories as well. KT, Jesse and Gabe are all very different, but this makes for a fun, quick story as they make their way cross country.

806: A Novel is a story that follows Katie, an edgy musician with a chip on her shoulder, on her journey to find her two donor siblings and their donor father. The good news is that the story was highly entertaining and such a quick read. There are some decent familial lessons to be learned from this story as well. The bad news is that there is just far too much happening and a lot of the times it was extremely unrealistic. Humongous events were happening rapid fire each page and then they were over within a couple paragraphs and we would be on to the next one. Although this makes for a page-turner due to all of the action, it doesn’t really leave room for believability.

This book was so heart-felt and entertaining. The main character was funny and instantly sympathetic. The concept itself was really interesting, and even though it could be pretty unrealistic and shallow the story was still pretty entertaining. I did feel like it could be a bit longer and expand on its characters as they were all somewhat underdeveloped / flat.

This could be a nice book for the right reader. It just wasn't for me, I tried to get through it and picked it up at different times, but was not able to finish. I give "806" three stars because, even though I did not finish, I don't think it is because of any glaring fault with the book, but more of a personal preference. The premise of the book is interesting and original: a group of teenagers go on a cross-country adventure to find their donor parent. For me the book fell flat because of the main character, KT. Her attitude was so negative that I couldn't get past it. At first, I thought it realistically reflected the attitude of a teen that lacked a good parent role model. But there seemed to be no reprieve from this and I just found her too exhausting to be able to enjoy the book.

Thank you to Bookish / NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A light-hearted story about three teens who band together to search for their biological father. While the road trip was a hoot, and the characters well crafted, the multiple coincidences and easy fixes pulled me out of the story too many times. Still, I really enjoyed the way the half siblings bonded throughout their adventure. Recommended to readers who like an upbeat, coming-of-age story.

806 by Cynthia Weil- Not my typical read, but I can see the appeal. Adventure, soul searching, and growing are in store for three teens who seemingly have nothing in common. They find out they are all products of the same sperm donor and set off in search of their bio dad. Twists and turns abound. Fun, quick read. #806novel #NetGalley

This book was a strange one and I honestly wasn't sure whether to rate it 3 or 4 stars. I went with 3 because the negatives seemed to slightly outweigh the positives.

Positives:
+ Gabe was super sweet and his and Jesse's blossoming friendship was what kept me smiling throughout the story.
+ Jimmy seemed like such a down-to-earth and sweet guy who was genuinely a nice person.
+ There was a nice mix of drama in the story but not too much to seem overly ridiculous.

Negatives:
- KT was annoying. She was spoiled, rude to her mum and had such a holier-than-thou attitude towards all her peers that I'm surprised her friends bothered with her. She was also extremely selfish and seemed to believe that the trip was solely about her.
- Dylan's obsession with KT was stupid, childish and just another way for KT to brag about how special she was.
- When they were driving through Texas, they did seem to have an unbelievable amount of bad luck which then all turned out A-Okay(!) because of how 'lucky' they were. I just saw the situations as ways for the plot to move forward.
- The addition of all the psychic stuff from (view spoiler) was irritating and kinda childish. It didn't fit with the plot at all and was completely out of place.

Overall, 806 was a decent story which showed how fate can bring even the most different people together in ways they would never imagine.

806 is a cute story about three teenagers finding their bio dad and eventually finding out what family really means. It's a light and funny read. The plot quickly turns /very/ unrealistic, but at the same time I could absolutely see it being turned into a classic adventure road trip movie. KT and her brothers start out being quite annoying teenage stereotypes but they undergo a sweet - if not highly predictable - character development.
If you're looking for a light summe read, try this one!

I want to thank Bookish and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.
I found this book a bit unbelievable in the story but it was a fun and whimsical read. The three characters in the book are sperm doner babies and have discovered who each other are by connecting through doner 806. They decide to go on a search for their sperm doner father. The three siblings call themselves "The Sperm Club" and have quite the time finding out who they really are in their seach. One of the passages in the book fairly sums up their feelings...."After today, that empty place inside me is gonna be filled in and filled up. I'm going to make sense to myself and to the world". The adventure is fast paced and has lots of unexpected turns they face in their journey. I believe this is a good story for preteens and teens. I think they would enjoy it.

I chose this book because the number is significant to me personally. Unfortunately, the characters all fell really flat for me, and the author's writing style really wasn't pulling me in. I ended up quitting the book about 30% of the way into it.
