I liked this gentle, meandering, sometimes funny, sometimes sad story of a group of people in their 90s who are driven out of their corrupt assisted living facility and forced to care for themselves in "commune" which might once have been an upscale brothel. Though the story is billed as a cosy mystery, it seemed to me to be more of an exploration of how to keep growing and loving, no matter how old you are. I liked the author's light, gently humorous way of exploring sometimes sad and dark events and recommend this for fans of No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency and A Man Called Ove.

I received this book from netgalley in exchange for a fair review.
