I’m such a sucker for historical romances. I can’t get enough of them. This was another I really enjoyed. It was a nice break from all the adult fantasy I’ve been reading lately.

I'd never read this author before but this really was a wonderful read. I loved the characters and the plot and was engaged the whole way through. It can be touch and go with historical romances but this really pulled it off.

I have never read a Sarah Eden book that I haven't loved. This book is no exception. The Jonquil brothers are delicious. They each have their own flavor and depth. They are all very much human - which I love. Stanley is the brother featured in this book. He and Marjie should be together. However, the journey isn't smooth. It has angst, soul, and substance. Loved it.

This book is a great story of over coming the hard ships of war and finding peace. Marjie never gives up on Stanley. She is a great example of loving someone no matter what and not giving up on them. Will he see the good person he is and learn he does disservice Marjie?

A decent romance with enough going on to keep one engaging and yet it wasn't outstanding. I liked the characters without falling in love with any of them.
If you are looking for an easy read then this book isn't bad and it is well written.

This was such a good book that I'm going to have to go back and read the books about the other Jonquil siblings! I'm definitely regretting that I've waited so long to read Sarah Eden's books and am planning to remedy that quickly.
Stanley Jonquil has been through horrible experiences during the Napoleonic wars, and now he has come home to recover from life-changing wounds. Marjie loves Stanley, but she is confused and upset by the changes in him. As they draw closer again and open up to each other, Stanley becomes increasingly worried that Marjie wouldn't be happy married to him, and he also struggles with returning to the Army. Can Stanley and Marjie find their happy ending, or will they be forced to live without each other?
I was struck by the realistic nature of this book and its characters. Many historical romances today have unrealistic plots, events, and characters as well as shallow writing. That was not the case with this book. I sympathized with the characters' struggles and actually cared about what happened to them. Stanley's struggles with his injuries and PTSD tugged at my heartstrings, and I'm so glad everything turns out the way it should. I think it's great that this book tackles PTSD and provides an in-depth look at the impact that war has on soldiers and their families. They need much more respect and support than they get from many people. If there were more courageous and unselfish men in the world like Stanley Jonquil, it definitely wouldn't hurt anything. I'm so excited to go back and read Sarah's other books, and I highly recommend this one.

I love the Jonquil Brother's series by Sarah M. Eden. She has done such a great job of capturing the beauty and love while also expressing the heartbreak of the time. Stanley became a soldier and left Marjie behind. He has not written to her but one day he comes home. He expects to be called back to duty so he does not want to form any attachments especially because he feels he is unworthy of any attachments. He is scarred from being a soldier and does not know how to handle it. Somehow his life will turn around but can love overcome his heartaches?

Love this author!!!! This is the second jonquil brothers books I've read and it was so frustratingly tender as we learn of soldiers disable and invisible wounds. . Loved Stanley and Marjie as main chAracterised how they grow even close to uncovering character traits. Jonquil family members as secondary characters were excellent supporting cast and hope to read more of them and if Pluck. This was a clean romance and appreciated that so very much! Swoon worthy. Please keep writing Sarah eden!!! I'll happily read anything by this author.

Wonderfully lovely clean romance set in Regency England! I immediately bonded with our characters of Marjie and Captain Jonquil. I have read other books by Sarah Eden, but none in the Jonquil Brothers series (don't worry I will now be checking them out!) but that caused me no issues in reading this novel. It deals with a few serious issues, but isn't written with a heavy hand that causes the reader to lose enjoyment. In fact, it probably has the opposite effect. I smiled, I cried, and I even laughed through this book, and I always say if you can give me all those emotions in one book, you are truly successful. Highly Recommended!!

Romance, clean, mild Christian faith elements
This was a lovely, poignant read. Stanley and Marjie's story was so heartfelt. Stanley's injury, his sense of duty to his country, his pride and his desire to hide his injury and return to his duties leads him to push Marjie away, not tell his family, and be miserable. Marjie sees through his hurts, discovers his secrets, and along with his brother's helps him to find his future where it should be.
This is probably one of my favorite reads in this series. The characters were heartfelt, genuine, caring, and honest. Stanley's courage, his pain, his resolve, and dedication to his country, all very well drawn. Marjie and Stanley's letters, their correspondence, his friends, the kindnesses to his men, and of course, Marjie's determination to honor him made for a lovely read.

For Love or Honor is a good, clean and romantic story. Great addition to the The Jonquil Brothers series.

I love the Jonquils! Such a great family!

Poor Stanley. He's been through so much. I can't imagine going through the horrors of war, being burned and losing a limb, being so traumatized and emotionally hurt, and the medicine of that day was so rustic.

And Marjie, who loves him so much, and tries to help him so many times.

It was great to see so many other characters from previous books. It makes me feel like they're old friends.

A lovely lovely book, that had me smiling & also had me in tears. The characterisation is brilliant, the pace is very good. It’s the misunderstandings that had me engrossed at first but then the relationship between Stanley & Marjie had me riveted. Stanley was proud & his thinking he was less of a man due to his injuries both physical & mental plus also he had to do his duty. The author painted a very good picture of the struggles of a returning hero who thought so lowly of himself this was such a contrast with his brother Philip but Philip also kept his emotions hidden. The Gathering was so emotional
I really hope Lord Devereaux has his story, he deserves his HEA. There must be more to follow as Harold needs his American & Sorrel’s pregnancy needs it’s conclusion

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This was another charming addition to the Jonquil family romances. It was at times somewhat heartbreaking, but SME has a way of showing hope along with the sadness. When an individual has such a powerfully compassionate heart, it should be protected and nurtured. This is not what happened to Marjie until she met Stanley Jonquil. Unfortunately,he was called back to war where he was almost destroyed. How these two work out the paths they are to follow is a sweet, tender story well worth the read.

Another great Jonquil Brothers story by Sarah M Eden.

Oh how I love Sarah Eden's characters and stories and families. This is another Jonquil brother story and I loved it! Stanley and Marjie...happy sigh!

I will admit that I shed a few tears while reading this one. It was hard not to. It's not all fluff and lighthearted and dancing in the roses. This story is about waiting and hurting and pain and healing and family and love. I loved the ending, I loved the beginning, I loved it all. I can't pinpoint a favorite moment between these two characters. Again, not all of their scenes are sweet, some are painful and awkward and causes more problems, but could be considered cathartic in a sense.

Marjie is just so good and sweet, compassionate and caring for everyone. When you read more about her childhood, there's an understanding as to why she is the way she is. Her life hasn't been easy, but one thing is for sure...Stanley brings her peace and comfort. He alone can heal her wounds. Yet Stanley has many wounds he needs to heal from, many visible and many more not visible. He returns from the Napoleonic wars, broken, ragged and utterly torn apart. What he needs to heal, he won't allow himself to get close to. He won't allow what's been taught him about honor and loyalty to let his guard down. To heal. To see the good he has done. And most importantly to acknowledge the love he has for a beautiful lady.

These two are perfect for each other. I loved the letter writing, I loved how Marjie helped Stanley, even if he refused to see it sometimes. Yes, definitely a happy sigh and tears are associated with this book for me.

You don't have to read all of Sarah's books in order, they work as stand alones. Although I would say that it's fun to read each brother's story and see how the further you get into the stories, the more of the previous brothers' stories you see. I haven't read one yet that I didn't absolutely love.

I have a bazillion quotes that I marked up and absolutely loved. These two quotes I'm sharing had me laughing and smiling at one of the Brother's wives, Mariposa. So enjoy!

"Only Harold, who had joined them for dinner spoke. He quoted and expounded upon the thirty-first Psalm until Marjie was ready to strangle him. Mariposa saved her the trouble. "We had a rooster once that was very much like Senor Harold," she said to no one in particular. "He made a great deal of noise and spoke very much, though almost no one heeded him." She lifted a forkful of fish but paused before putting it in her mouth. "He was delicious." Jason sputtered but managed to hold back a laugh. Marjie genuinely smiled for the first time in days. Harold raised an obviously disapproving eyebrow and continued eating in blessed silence.

Mariposa nodded with her characteristic conviction. "Phillip is a man." She waved a hand, dismissing and condemning all in one gesture. "These men, they do not understand anything." Again, Harold's eyebrow lifted. Jason grinned. "'Act like your heart is made of stone,' Phillip says to you.'Senor Stanley will be happier if his family treats him like a rag they will not miss at all.' I told Philip that he was, of all the men in the world, the most stupid. I threw my arms around Stanley and wept because my heart was weeping. You English, you are too afraid of emotions. You fight against your feelings." Mariposa shook her head and shrugged. "Of all things, a person ought to feel. Without feelings, what are we? We are nothing more than moving paintings."

Yeah, I love Mariposa. She is only in a couple small parts of this book but has her own book in, A Fine Gentleman. I haven't read it yet but am very excited to, especially after reading about her sass in this one.

I won't add anymore because it's too hard to choose from all the ones I have highlighted, I'd probably start adding all of them.

Content: Clean. Some talk about war and battles but nothing graphic. Nothing past kissing.

Needed the tissues for this story.
Stanley had always been intended for the Army but the realities of war are far different than when he play fought battles with his brothers. Despite horrific injuries (both physical and mental) his loyalty and commitment to his duty will not allow him to resign his commission. He does not want his family to pity him and so downplays his injuries when he is sent back to England to recuperate. Add to that the views of men at the time that women are the weaker sex and must be protected from anything unpleasant and you are left with a young man who has no one to confide in and is torn apart by the trauma of war. Sensitively written. Recommended read.

Seriously, how many times can I say how much I adore Sarah M. Eden? Simply put: I haven't read a bad one by her yet!

This time, we get a bit of Regency PTSD. This is long before there was a name for it and the men had to just move forward with no help. Their wives, or the women in their lives, had no idea what they were dealing with and nobody spoke of it. I can't even imagine. I am really glad that she decided to write on this topic!

Sarah continues on with the saga of Jonquil brothers that we all know and love. This time, the focus is on Captain Stanley Jonquil. Of course you are going to love the characters. They are always written with depth and wonderful character. Make sure you pick up a copy of this great read!!!

I didn't want this book to end! I love the Jonquil brothers! This is Stanley's story, with a little bit of the other brothers joining in. I might just have to read all the Jonquil brothers books again. Keep writing Sarah, I love your books!

Marjie worries at the lack of communication from Captain Stanley Jonquil, the man she thought she had an understanding with. When he appears out of nowhere, worn and aloof, her worry grows. Has war broken their love?

It was a delight to return to the Jonquil family. Stanley's struggles to overcome the horrors of war were touching and true to life. I was a bit disappointed at how long he hid his physical injuries form his brother, but understood his action. Marjie was a sweet character, the kind of person who worries over everyone. Together, they made a charming couple.

The plot progressed at a good pace with the gentle ups and downs one would expect from a story of this nature. Readers who enjoy sweet Regency romances won't go wrong with this one.
