5 Stars!! First, I love Rachel Van Dyken. I've read a couple of her books in the past. Infraction was probably my favorite book of hers so far!
Second, I am a sucker for a sports romance. Infraction is the second in Rachel's Players Game series. I read the first book and loved it and was so excited to see the second book was coming out! This story follows Miller and Kinsey and their exploits through a plan to fake date and hilarity ensues.
This book was funny, sweet and steamy! One of the best romances I read this year.
Love love love sports romance and Rachel Van Dyken. So together I am in heaven! RVD delivers an amazing sports romance that captivated me from the first page to the last!
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
This was a decent story and I somewhat enjoyed both the hero and the heroine. Miller and Kinsey are pretty good characters. However, nothing really stood out making it a great book.
This was so good and fun! I loved the characters and the theme of the novel! I love fake dating and books that are sports romances, so this was very much up my alley!
This was a really good book. I didn't realize when I was diving in that it was book two. I didn't fee like I was missing out a bunch so that is good. This was definitely a fun and fast read.
Hot and Steamy and Heartwarming????
Definitely not a combination I would have guessed when I received Rachel Van Dyken’s Infraction. I’ve read a number of her other works and knew she could write adult books with great wit and humor. Even the cover, with the toned babe and buff football player, insinuated that there would be lots of “action”. I love football, so it didn’t take long to hook me on a story of a pro football player, Miller, and his quarterback and best friend’s sister, Kinsey, trying to keep their deep attraction for each other a secret. When someone from Kinsey’s past returns and threatens her well-being, both physically and emotionally, her brother insists that she and Miller “pretend” to be dating. Little did he know that his “play calling” would quickly put Miller and Kinsey in the “red zone”.

I’ve always enjoyed Rachel’s writing. She is sharp and snarky and her characters are just plain fun to be around. However, leave it to Rachel to blindside me when I thought I was marching down the field to the finish. Image result for quarterback sackHer inclusion of a sincerely touching scene left me in tears. I was so pleased how this story turned out. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that Rachel’s gift is more than just giving us hot bodies, hot scenes, and playful banter. She can write a story that will touch you and entertain you on so many levels.
If you are looking for an entertaining adult series, grab Infraction: Players Game Book 2!
Infraction is NOT just a sports romance. It is a book where love is fought for and won. It will bring you to tears yet also make your cheeks hurt from smiling. And to make it even better you get TWO love stories for the price of one ;) Yup — aside from Miller & Kinsey's story, you also get Jax's story! Really can it get any better than this?
Love this book so much!! This author is amazing her characters were perfect and likeable!! I highly recommend this book.
Recently, I read Fraternize, which is the first book in the Player's Game duology by Rachel Van Dyken. I loved the book. I've made it a goal of mine this year to marathon series until I have completed them, that way I don't forget anything in between books. I picked up the next book in the series, Infraction, almost as soon as I was done typing my review for Fraternize. I loved it even more than the first book.
Just as an FYI, my review of Infraction will contain spoilers for the first book in the series, Fraternize. There's no real way to talk about the plot of Infraction without spoiling Fraternize, so stop here if you haven't read the first book. All of that being said, I thought that Infraction was a great sequel. I loved the chemistry between Miller and Kinsey. I didn't think it was possible, but I love them even more than I loved Sanchez and Emerson. I think it's because Kinsey is such a snarky female main character. She doesn't take any crap from anyone. She also uses her sarcasm as a coping mechanism to hide her pain, which I can definitely identify with. I think that, among other things, makes her a very relatable character that you can't help but love. I would go into my thoughts on Miller as well, but everyone who has read my review of the first book already knows that I loved his character.
Infraction was definitely a step up from the first book in the series as far as the plot goes as well. If you read my review of Fraternize, you know I had a couple of issues with some plot points. Those were fixed in Infraction. I didn't find this book to be predictable at all. Kinsey's big secret floored me. I had no idea that was what was going to be revealed. I also didn't predict what was revealed about Jax and the woman he ended up being with at the end at all. Even the plot hole that I had an issue with in Fraternize was resolved, which was a relief to me. It was one of the main things that drove me crazy in the first book, so having it resolved made Infraction such a much more enjoyable reading experience.
Rachel Van Dyken's books are always are some of my favorite things to read. Infraction definitely continued that trend in my life. I could easily see this becoming one of my favorite books of the year when I make my list at the end of the year. It really took the characters that I knew and loved from Fraternize, and stepped it up. It also did the same with the plot. My advice is that if you're going to listen to the audiobook, don't do it in public though. I cried like a baby throughout the last fourth of the book because she makes you feel such an emotional connection to the characters, and what they are going through. I can't wait to catch up on more of her books that I've recently missed out on.
Loved it! I fell in love with Miller in the first book in the series, and I love that in this one we get to see how great he is.
I was really curious to see how the "forbidden" romance between him and Kinsey, his friend's sister, would end up.
I have to say that I was not disappointed.
Rachel is one of my favorite authors, and I never hesitate to read her books. I love the way she writes her characters and makes us feel every single emotion, everything they're going through.
Another great book!
good story. very tropish so i saw everything coming but i really like this author's writing, I love sports romances and fake relationships, so it was four star all the way.
As a huge fan of Rachel Van Dyken i was really excited to look forward to this book. It did not disappoint. Miller and Kinsey were perfect together. Their chemistry lit up the pages and made for an epic and engaging read.
Quinton Miller found [his] girl and I rooted so damn hard for our guy. After Fraternize and his heart break, I so wanted him to find the girl of his dreams. The one who would give him that bona fide happily ever after.
And did he ever! Kinsey and Miller were perfect for each other. Like Chicken and Waffles. *wink*
These two were hella fun. They were lighthearted, cute read for the most part, with minimal angst. Their chemistry and connection was off the charts hawt! Their friendship one for the books. Miller and Kins had it all: swoon worthy moments, witty banter, tension (in and out of the bedroom), love, and delectable smexy times.
I loved getting to spend time with Sanchez and Em again. Grant will always be my fave in this series, but Miller came really close to knocking him out of the lead. I think if Rachel hadn't given me more Grant in this book, reminding me why I feel so hard for him, Miller would have won. There was just so much to love about him. One of those being his love for Kins. His Waffle.
My main struggle was with Jax, who also had his story told alongside Miller and Kinsey's. His extreme over protectiveness drove me fricken batty!! It took me until close to the end of the book with how over the top he took that protection to even consider liking him. When everything was laid all out, it was easier to understand Jax's obsession with making sure nothing or nobody hurt his little sister. His antics finally made sense. In fact, it kinda made me love him enough to want him to have his very own full length story. But since, Rachel gave us his love interest, with Harley, intermingled with our MCs I don't see that happening. Hmm, maybe we'll get a novella of sort or the series will continue on and we'll see them all again.
That ending! My favorite part of the book. I can't stop smiling just thinking about it. Kinsey sealed my love for her with those reactions! She proved why she was Miller's true love. His Waffle.
Infraction is the story of Quintin and Kinsey. Their story is centered around the Bellevue Bucks football team. While Quintin is faking it as Kinsey's boyfriend to deflect her ex boyfriend who is trying out for the team, they find themselves tackled by their feelings. Quintin took on this role at the request of Kinsey's brother Jax. who also happens to be Kinsey's brother. Mixed in with the intensity of their feelings, Jax and Kinsey are dealing with a major family crisis. Just as you fall into your feelings of despair, the story takes a turn for the funny and you are back into the light.
I loved this story and I'm so glad we got to see Miller have his happy ending. I just wish that Jax had gotten a fully developed book of his own rather than having his romance woven fully into this novel.
I voluntarily reviewed an Reader Copy of this book which I received through Netgalley.
I really loved this story. Rachel van Dyken is an amazing author!
The plot was not unique but it was light and easy to read. Even with a cheesy internal monologue and a few cliches I was interested until the end and would recommend this series!
Miller Quinton is finally coming to terms with what happened in the past with Emerson, that they won't be together, and their new friendship along with how he feels about Sanchez, Jax and his whole Bellevue Bucks family. But that night in Vegas with is best friend and QB's sister afther their their championship win, has to stay hidden and in the past. That's why he helped Jax convince Kinsey to go to Europe for the summer. He could get some distance and get her out of his system.
Everyone knows how Jax feels about and is protective over his little sister. So Miller and Kinsey are both shocked when once she returns from Europe, Jax has the crazy idea of Miller and Kinsey pretending to be a couple. It seems Kinsey's ex, who was abusive, is now on the practice squad for the Bellevue Bucks and Jax wants Miller to help him keep Kinsey away from Anderson and safe by making they guy think she's dating someone else. Also keeps Anderson from causing trouble with the team.
But things don't go as planned. Kinsey and Miller's chemistry is burning even brighter now that she's back and they are spending more time together. But there are some familial issues that come up that cause both a strain on their budding relationship as well as Kinsey.
In Kinsey's effort to keep Jax off her back when it comes to Miller, she sets him up with sports model and yoga instructor, Harley. Jax and Harley don't seem to hit it off right away. Her snark and sass seem to turn him off, but it really turns him on. He's never met a woman who gets him going quite like she does. He runs away from her at first, but can't seem to stay away.
Both Miller and Kinsey, and Jax and Harley's relationships are strengthened by what is happening to Ben Romonov, Kinsey and Jax's father. These two couples learn more about themselves, each other, and what they can handle by being around Ben.
Oh man did I cry. At one point I was in the car driving home and listening to the book and hoping my tears wouldn't make me drive off the road. There was so much cute and funny, but then there was so much sad. But the author did a great job with Ben and his lessons of how to live and to die.
I loved every moment of it and wanted the story to never end. I wanted more of Jax and Harley. I also couldn't believe how realistic the abusive ex was. I found myself thinking... this is how they are. They are so narcissistic that, even when the woman says she's with someone else and hasn't been with them for years, they can't give up getting what they want. Doing it by making their target feel so little about themselves they feel they don't deserve better. It was crazy to read/listen to how little Anderson made Kinsey, when she was so big as a person when he wasn't around.
It was really good and I loved it. Glad I didn't stop reading/listening.
