Curtis Wiklund's book Us is a look into individual days of his relationship with his wife. His sketches are both whimsical and realistic, and they portray an adorable couple who is deeply in love. This a such a feel-good, beautiful book of art and would be great for gifting to a significant other.
This is a sweet and light book with illustrations about a couple's regular activities. The author's wife took up a challenge of taking a photograph every day and wanted him to join her by drawing every day. He decided to draw about their daily life and the result is this book. Would recommend if you are into cutesy relationship comics.
'Us' by Curtis Wiklund is a series of drawings he did of he and his wife over the course of a year.
Curtis Wiklund was inspired by his wife to do a drawing every day. He chose his married life with her, so we get a collection of the quiet moments of a marriage. Inside jokes, romantic moments and even things like sharing chores.
The drawings are everything from quick sketches of basically stick figures, to more finished works. They all have captions to describe the picture.
There are some lovely pictures in here and the intimacy captured just makes it more special. I appreciated getting the chance the read this collection.

A very intimate portrayal of a loving relationship. If you are like me and you are in one yourself, you might find everyday moments reflected in the drawings of Curtis Wiklund. I loved the book and I would recommend it!
I showed this to my sister and we both just looked at it for hours. It's just... amazing. I'm not even married and related to it!
This is so, so cute. The sketches are lovely and heartwarming and I really enjoyed seeing the relationship develop and the changes it went through over a year. Curtis is a fantastic artist!
This was a cute collection of drawing that the author did when he decided to join his wife on a 365-day project. His part of the project was to draw something every day, whatever it was. Naturally, what came of the project were very real portrayals of married life, and life in general. Some good days, some bad days, and some that are just there. I really enjoyed it and more than anything, it just made me feel good and brought a smile to my face.

The story behind this book is adorable! The fact that the author-artist drew something every day to complement his wife's challenge and then gave it to his wife as a gift is equal parts unique and cute.
I really loved all the plethora of various forms of art filled to the core with everyday love of a husband and a wife. But somewhere in between, the chaotic mess got to me, I mean as soon as I would adjust to one form of artwork and started to appreciate it, the book moved to another. In such a short collection, I think that shouldn't have been done. Special shoutout to the stick figure artwork though -that was my favourite!
The ending was overflowing with love and that last sketch with the boys blew my mind! All in all, this was a quick, short and completely adorbs read!

This was a sweet, simple book of drawings that the author/illustrator did over the course of a year of him and his wife. Definite talent shown through a variety of media and levels of drawing (from a five minute sketch to finished paintings).
Might have limited appeal because of the subject matter, while I enjoyed the sneak peek into his life; it's not something that I'd buy and not something that would circulate well in my library.
Curtis Wiklund makes his living as a photographer, but he accepted his wife's challenge to sketch their marriage every day for a year. The resulting collection is Us, a wonderfully heartwarming look at Curtis and his wife Jordin's life together as newlyweds.
The illustrations range from rough sketches to lovely watercolors. Mostly they are black and white line drawings. As simple as the drawings are, they capture the couple's friendship and intimacy. Curtis shows his deep affection for Jordin with these drawings. I don't know this couple at all, but seeing their young love portrayed here made me want to go do something fun with my wife, to give her kisses, or to snuggle on the couch.
Maybe it's wrong to appreciate a book more for how it makes me feel than for the actual content. But I have a feeling Curtis, a wedding photographer, would not object to my saying Us inspired me to love my wife of 25 years like a newlywed.
You should also check out the video of him proposing to Jordin:

This is the story of a couple, told through drawings of their everyday life.
The drawings were cute, I really really loved them.
There were lots of different drawing styles, it was very interesting.
But there was no real story or storyline, it was kinda vague...
Also, I found it a bit too short, it could have been longer, it would have helped turning it into an actual story.
Sure, this is cute – but for me, a little too cute. It's great that this guy loves his wife so much, but I'm not sure that I (as a total stranger to them) gained anything from seeing lots of pictures of them doing their pretty basic daily things. Sometimes the emotion that a creator feels is conveyed to the reader/viewer – and sometimes it isn't. But, you know, happy for them.
The creation of this book is thanks to the internet as the author posted some of his sketches online and found that they went viral. The book is brief, with a little over 100 pages and while some images follow a consistent style, others contain different mediums and complexities. The author began the project after being inspired by his wife's own art project and committed to drawing or doodling one image a day with the main topic being about his everyday life with his wife. From the trivial every day to the intimate moments that only couples can share, the author allows the reader a glimpse into his marriage. With a focus on the little things, this cute book will bring the romantic out in anyone.
This book is best read in one sitting and would make a great gift for a wedding shower or anniversary. The book and story are uncomplicated, as it just follows everyday life with no hailing climax or conflict, but it is meant to induce smiles rather than reflection.
This beauty will be available just in time for the holidays, December 5, 2017, and would make a great stocking stuffer and keepsake for that special person in your life. Pre-order your copy today!
I thought this book was so cute really enjoyed the stories I want another book about the baby
also, post on Amazon
I love the sentiment behind this book. Artist and Wedding Photographer Curtis Wiklund sketched drawings of everyday moments with his wife each day for a year to create this book. And as a married woman, my heart melted as I turned the pages of each illustration. I like how Wiklund sketched things he and his wife did each day, no matter how seemingly normal or mundane they were. I smiled at the moments that paralleled my own life, like the sketches of his wife falling asleep on the couch as he worked. I was so reeled in by the adorable illustrations that I covered all of them in one sitting. I would have loved to see more context with the illustrations, though. For example, I know there is a story behind that ticking time bomb illustration--I have lived that scenario several times over. All in all, I can't wait to see more work from this artist.
Thank you Netgalley for sharing this ARC with me for review.
Meh. If anything I was most impressed with the variety of styles and effects used on these pages - some of the finished product is quite wonderful, but at the same time the scratchy sketches are too common. More importantly, the book is too personal to the couple involved and I really didn't engage. I don't know how this blew up to be so popular, as it's really not the kind of thing I'd like to look at.
This book is adorable. I asked my husband if he would draw a picture a day of us too after looking at these. Too cute.

Well, on the one hand this was gorgeous, and I loved the fact the author/artist drew/painted something every day and then gave it to his wife as a gift (and then later is going to publish it as a book). But on the other hand I expected sketches, but instead the book is filled with various forms of art. From digital to painting to sketches to cartoons. From wikipedia: "Sketch (drawing), a rapidly executed freehand drawing that is not usually intended as a finished work." <- this is what I expected. Quick sketches that he made in the late hours. Not digital art, paintings, or completed works. It really was a chaotic mess to me, not only because of that but because of the huge amount of styles he draws in. From simplistic stick figures to cartoons to realistic. And that is a shame.
But as I said I did like the fact the artist made this for his wife. It is really sweet of him, and I think it is a wonderful gift to give someone on Valentines Day. Not something from a store, but instead something from your heart. Something made with love.
And you could also quite clearly see the love in the sketches. Well, the ones that featured the couple. :P I wasn't that particularly interested in the sketches of him alone.
The ending was so sweet, and I want to congratulate the artist and his wife!
But even with the sweetness, the overflowing love, I just didn't enjoy this one as much as I hoped I would.
This was absolutely adorable! A year of their marriage in different types of drawings. I felt like it was very original and sweet. The only thing that I felt kept it from being 5 Stars was that it depicted their marriage as all sunshine and rainbows, and not enough reality.

Absolutely wonderful! I didn't know about Curtis Wiklund before, but I really enjoyed this book. Now I can say I'm a fan.
