Love this book. I live in a small town in North Dakota, transplanted here from Las Vegas. We don't have access to good ice cream...well, we do, but you have to drive 50-100 miles to get it and when you get home you will have soup. So I was really excited to try out some of the recipes!! I love the chapter on the Basics and learned so much. I tried out the Aztec Hot Chocolate Ice Cream which was amazing. I also had to try out the Sour Cherry Frozen Yogurt, Cantaloupe Sorbet, and the Espresso Granita. All were wonderful and I am looking forward to trying out many more recipes over the Christmas Holidays once my son is home from school!
I won't lie, even in the middle of winter freezing my toes off, this book makes me want ice cream. It all looks so yummy, that is when you get pictures. There are tons of flavors and types: ice cream, gelato, and even frozen yogurt. And while the flavors are plentiful, the pictures are few and far between. I know I don't need pictures to make great ice cream. But I like to compare. The other thing, is that all these recipes are for “traditional” ice cream that requires an ice cream machine. All the recipes are either French or Philadelphia style, which is lovely, but I wish there were some of them new fangled no churn recipes.
