When Fredrick agrees to make a anonymous bid at an auction he never expects to meet the man of his dreams.
Duncan only wants to win the picture of his aunt , however even being out bid he is not giving up.
This is a short book but it packs a lot of story. I enjoyed it.
This wasn't exactly what I was expecting. It was a fun and sexy read and that's really all you need a book sometimes. I would have like to see more from the characters, but overall I enjoyed it.
This is a short and steamy novella with a great connection between the main characters. Very convincing even if things do move quickly.
I liked that Frederick, who is physically less imposing than Duncan, is actually, refreshingly, the more dominant of the two men. He is so self-assured and intense, he seems just about ready to stride right out of the pages of the book. So to speak... or jump out of the screen of my e-reader.
I can't blame Duncan for falling under his spell.
I loved the auction-part of the story, and how they resolved that. It could have become an issue in their relationship, but they didn't let it. Although it starts out as a purely physical thing between them, they both soon realize they want more and there's no playing hard to get, no different expectations to manage or commitment issues to overcome. Loved that!
Absolutely recommend this!
I actually was really surprised and impressed with the story the author packed into such a short read. Most books are not really even too deep in by chapter 4 and this whole story was told in that time.
I loved Frederick and Duncan's meet and imminent explosive chemistry. They really were off the charts and the writing was very descriptive and engaging. My only complaint is the length. I could have read a full length novel on these two and even though we did get a complete story as it was there is still so much I want to know about them. They were both very charismatic and drew me into their lives.
I will definitely be looking up other works by this author especially his full length books.
I enjoyed this steamy novella very much. Andrew Grey always gives us interesting characters, and he did not disappoint with Auction Action. I found Frederick fascinating and would have loved to have spent more time with him. This is a very quick sexy times to love story (by necessity since it's a novella instead of a novel) but the main characters do have some depth and the author manages to throw in some surprises, despite the brevity. I liked that the steamy interactions don't necessarily go the way you might expect, at least in the beginning. There are several very hot scenes, very minor d/s themes. I would recommend for anyone who loves Andrew Grey, or for anyone looking for a quick, hot m/m with some depth and interesting characters.
Frederick has an art gallery. One of his best clients asks him to bid on a painting for her. Frederick knows he will get the painting but enjoys bidding against the big, gorgeous man who also wants it. He doesn’t expect to ever see the intriguing man again.
Duncan really wanted the painting but was outbid. When he sees the man who outbid him in a bar he has to ask about the painting. When the smaller man tells him to call him Sir, he finds something he didn’t even know he needed.
Even though this was a short story, I felt that the characters were pretty well developed. The flip with the smaller man being the Dom worked for me. I do wish it had been longer.
Very enjoyable M/M Romance. Smart, sexy -- focus on the erotic. The characters come through with the great writing by Andrew Grey. Their deep passionate longings are so casually hidden behind their public/professional demeanor-- seeing what's underneath is a thrill. Don't blink because this story moves fast, right to the punch. A little sub/dom action is always hot.
I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This wasn’t entirely my cup of tea. The love scenes were quite nice, but the relationship between the two went way too quickly. It seemed like they barely knew each other for long before expressing their love for each other. It seemed pretty out of character for Frederick especially. I think if this had been developed into a longer novel and the relationship didn’t develop as quickly it would have worked better for me. Also, some of the interactions between the two just came off as a bit awkward. Not my taste but could be for others.
I loved this book. I finished it in one sitting and I couldn't put it down. You know how you read something and it stays on your mind days later. The sex scenes were very hot and sexy and I can understand why Duncan kept coming back. It was short and to the point.
Frederick likes to keep his clients happy, so when one of best and important clients asks him to attend an auction to acquire a painting for her, he plans to do everything he can to get the picture. Unfortunately, Frederick doesn't expect Duncan, who is also competing for the same painting.
This was a good book, a lot of story packed into a short book, the story was pretty fast paced. Frederick and Duncan were well rounded characters that each had a story to tell. While it was fast paced, it seemed to be a bit fast, A lot of things happened in a short story, which at times made it seem unrealistic.
As always any book by Andrew Grey is a guaranteed satisfying read! The book even though it was a short read was hot! Frederick and Duncan were great characters with a slight Bdsm touch. I highly recommend this book.
A great short story for the day. A love and lust at first sight. Hot steamy scenes, but the giver and the receiver is only one way. The receiver only receives. I didn’t think the Sir was a good choice to be dominant. Also there was no passion and the love came out of nowhere. I like what Duncan does for a living and enjoy his talks about money. The main character is short and it’s interesting how that can be described as attractive. It would have been good to know their age. I like that there are two point of views.
Auction Action by author Andrew Grey is a fast-paced emotion fill read. I really liked this one. I would like for there to be more books with these two in it. I feel they have much more to tell us. Or at least another story around the painting. There is something there.
Frederick is a successful antique dealer. He works very hard. He is attending a charity auction to purchase a painting for one of his higher-end customers.
He is also a dominant.
Duncan is a submissive. He is a wealthy man also interested in the painting. He has not had a whole lot of love in his childhood. So he is looking for love now.
These two together are a really sweet couple. They each have what the other needs. I also liked how the painting and lore were used. Overall a fast-paced great read.
Five Shooting Stars
A short book but it was a fun read. I would’ve liked more substance to the story, but I enjoyed it nevertheless and the characters were believable. A low angst story perfect for a summer afternoon.
This is a slightly higher heat short from Andrew Grey. Definitely worth the read!
Received an ARC from Netgalley
4 Stars
Auction Action by Andrew Grey
The only reason I did not give this 5 Stars is that I wished it was LONGER!! I read Frederic & Duncan’s story in just a few hours!! I love that a chance meeting at an antique auction turned out to be so much more - a loving true ❤️ & committed relationship !!
Great story - great read !!
I just couldn't get into the story. It starts really quickly and Frederick wins the painting with barely an effort and then suddenly he's going home with the 'Greek God' from the auction. I realise this is a short story and there's not a lot of place for plot and everything but it just wasn't for me.
The story was okay, though it would have liked it to be longer. There wasn't much of a story line however it’s got some really good sexy times. The D/s portion wasn't really believable. They did have a conversation but nothing really panned out with it. Going from Sir to Fredrick to Freddy was not the way to it would normally progress. I would have liked to have seen the D/s tightened up.
A short fast read.
A really good book if you haven’t got the time to read a full length book
When the blurb said short story it really meant short story! It didn’t take me anytime at all to finish it. But i enjoyed the short fast paced read.
