I really liked Faith, she was a great strong female lead. And there was something very appealing about broody Alex. The plot was a little convoluted - why did we have to have drug trade and sex trafficking, and it all got resolved so quickly! And while I have no issue with sex scenes in the romances I enjoy, these sex scenes were very unappealing and not romantic at all. I got invested in Faith and Alex and wanted to see them get their HEA, but I was pretty unfulfilled by how that developed and the story ended so abruptly.

Not a very romantic romance.

I read the prequel, "Broken Dreams," before reading "Wild Hearts," so I was pretty surprised when the storylines in "Broken Dreams" were completely different than the ones laid out in "Wild Hearts." Very odd.

As for "Wild Hearts" itself, it was...okay. The writing was well done for the most part, and the main characters had some good depth to their personalities. However, the constant "ma'am" and "southern manners" thing grated my nerves after a while, and the sudden changes in character behavior were a bit rocky.

Absolutely loved this southern romance. Alex is a character... but Faith is a good match for him. Hate seeing you to I love you; with all the emotions in between.

Wild Hearts is one of those stories that while the plot will pull you in it’s the characters who will have you staying to the end waiting for their healing and happy ending to take place. Both Faith and Alex have been wounded by life, people and events beyond their control. When Faith discovers she’s inherited an island off the Georgia coast she sets out on a trip of discovery. The last person Alex wants to be attracted to is this woman with painful eyes and a need to find something of her own. Alex knows pain, he understands betrayal, what he no longer is willing to offer is trust.

While staying at the inn, waiting to settle the estate Faith soon realizes that there are far more things she doesn’t know aside from an unknown aunt. Like secrets that someone doesn’t want told – and certainly doesn’t want her taking possession of her aunt’s property. The danger is real, and Alex is determined to protect Faith, while protecting his heart as well. Their romance is full of emotions both hidden and in plain sight, history to overcome and hope that finally they’ve found that person who gets then and their flaws, someone who accepts the whole person and wants to stay forever.

I was easily caught up in Alex and Faith’s story. This is a vivid world full of secrets and betrayals as well as love and hope for the future. The journey to their happy ending is an adventure that you will not want to miss. I’d recommend Wild Hearts to any Romance reader who likes deep characters with wounds to be dealt with, a mystery and puzzle to piece together and a love story that will touch your heart.

As a whole I did enjoy this book and the storyline between Alex and Faith. It was interesting with lots of other storylines and conflicts to make you keep reading and keep your attention. The problem I did have was that it didn't really match up with the prequel and at times i almost wished I hadn't even read that because I probably would have liked this book more. The inconsistency was sometimes hard to overlook, plus I felt at the end I was asking myself ok well what about this and what happened with that other thing. Its not a cliff hanger just some unanswered questions maybe an epilogue could fix. I decided to rate this book on the love story that evolves between Alex and Faith alone because it was brought together well in the setting it was in made it good, plus I enjoyed the other side characters as well.

A good quick read. Not real gritty, just a good romance. I enjoyed it even though I usually like a grittier book.

Highly entertaining, sweetly sexy, action packed, heart pounding danger filled romantic adventure that is both intriguing and emotionally thrilling.

Faith is sassy, sweet, independent, strong willed southern California girl who unexpectedly inherits an island off the coast of Georgia. She has a hard time settling the estate left to her thanks to some unsavory cousins she never knew about believing they should have inherited it instead of her. Alex is sexy, smart and a total broody alpha male who is so not looking for love or any kind of relationship with a woman again. His first wife was not very good at caring about her marriage vows making it hard for him to trust. Perfect late night cuddle in bed reading.

The cover drew me in, but the blurb made me want to read it. I just could not get into this story. It was well written, but I could not connect. I just was unable to get interested. Unfortunately, overall this was just an alright read for me.

Wild Hearts is a standalone contemporary romance and is the second book that I have read by Vivian Wood.

If you love Angst I think you will love this book. For me I felt it took a bit to get into it. At first I wasn’t real fond of Alex or Faith but, by the end of the book I loved them and Alex’s surrounding family, especially mama. I found myself loving the ending of Wild Hearts.

I enjoyed this book a lot but it was really hard to get into. In the beginning, it seems like the author is all over the place with character development. It gets better about a quarter of the way through, then it gets good. If you can stick with it through the world building, it is a great book.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Wow! This was a wonderful book. I loved the characters of Faith and Alex, two people who have been damaged in the past and find a way to heal with the help of the other. Alex is the one who is more damaged than Faith. After returning from active duty he finds that his wife has been extremely unfaithful to the point she gives him an unbelievably large number of men she has been with. They fight about it, he asks for a divorce and she storms off drunk and gets in an accident. Fast forward a few years and he is living back at home and helping to run his family's business with his mother, brother, and cousin. Faith has been informed she has inherited some land from an aunt she does not remember. She heads to Georgia to see the property and is staying at the Inn Alex's family owns. Alex has turned into a brooding man. Not wanting to interact with anyone. Faith and he meat and she can not help being drawn to him. This story is a bout how the two find love and hare able to help one another overcome their past. I loved the whole story and how great it was written. It had me drawn in from the beginning. Alex slowly opens up to Faith and lets himself accept what they are able to have. This coupe had such great chemistry and I l really enjoyed how they were also able to find out what was behind all the trouble that had recently starting happening once Faith came to the little island. Awesome story with a great HEA!

This is a very complex romance steeped in family history, and I’m going to review the two themes – the romance and the family history – as separate parts..

The love story is exquisitely written. Alex comes across as a bit of a jerk, but as we get to know him better it’s easy to see that he’s just been deeply hurt by past betrayals and is now very cautious, guarded, very slow to trust anyone. He especially doesn’t trust himself and his attraction to Faith, since his heart led him so wrong in his past relationship. Faith is a bit naïve, but she’s only 26 – just a couple years out of college – and finding out about her Georgia family history has thrown her for quite a loop. Together, these two young people find a love that is stronger than any of their own hesitations, stronger than the forces that seek to do them harm, stronger enough to see beyond all the present day problems and look confidently toward the future. In short, the love story is a 5-star nearly-perfect book. Vivian Wood really knows how to write deeply emotional connections with a healthy side of sexual tension and explosive love scenes.

The family history side of things – not so much. There was quite a bit of information given, but not all of it was fully explained nor resolved. The conflicts over the land, the mystery/suspense elements, the final resolution of her inheritance – all that could have been more tightly written, with either fewer moving pieces on the board or more closure given for each one. These family issues provide the setting and some of the situations for the two lovebirds, but it’s clear that the romance is the higher priority.

Keep your focus on the love story and don’t get lost in the other details, and you’ll love this visit to the coastlands of Georgia as much as I did. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided through NetGalley.

a rated it really liked it
A very successful lawyer, city girl comes on a small island and turns life from their residents upside down especially Alex life. Interesting story whit a twist that I didn't see coming. Two very well developed characteres. Alex is very stubborn and because of his past, he is anti-social. Faith is very likable although very successful and from the city, she is down to earth, not spoiled at all. And she is not trying to ignore the chemistry and attraction between her and Alex.

Faith arrives in Carolina to check on an island property that was willed to her by a relative she never knew. When she arrives at Graystone where she’ll be staying, she meets the moody, broody son of the owner, Alex. No matter how she tries, he’s quite and sullen, rude and closed off. And she’s terribly attracted to him despite it all.

Alex lost his wife a few years ago and every relationship with friends and family has been affected by it. He’s tossed in limbo and unsure how to dig himself out. Meeting Faith only grates against all the walls he’s built around himself. Since arriving he’s watched her blossom, embracing her southern roots and he wants nothing more than to take her into his arms. But that will never happen.

This couple were complicated and well written. It’s a rather angsty journey they have to travel to find contentment in their lives, but not the kind of angst that makes you gnash your teeth. Watching Faith release her past familial constraints and grow into a stronger, better woman was like feeling the Georgia sun on my face. When Alex slowly begins to allow her inside and let go of his past I just wanted to hug him so tight. They were both looking for something more, neither recognizing that that’s what they were doing or how to find it.

I absolutely loved this book! It was filled with lots of family, humor, southern charm, mystery and suspense. It surprised me how well the mystery/suspense portion was written. I am new to this author and Holy Moses but I’ve definitely got to check out her other work!
